It had been days since Calamity Ganon was defeated by Link, and Hyrule was restored. Princess Zelda was very happy that there was no more danger or chaos from Calamity Ganon, and peace was restored. They both helped out restoring Hyrule along with the citizens there. However, it was going to be a while before things were completely restored.
Link and Zelda were close friends, and they were together when they were in adventure, danger, comfort, and important stuff. They cared for each other like an unbreakable bond.
After working for a bit, they decided to check out the sunset together so they could take a little break.
"Hey, Link?" Zelda asked with a gentle voice.
"Yes, Princess?" Link replied, smiling.
"Do you ever wonder about the future?" Zelda asked.
Link thought about it for a bit before replying.
"I kinda do, I wonder if we would be safe from an attack again."
"I agree," Zelda replied. "I'm hoping to make Hyrule more secure and safe so we don't have a dangerous attack again."
They both were silent for a little while as they continued to watch the sunset from the sky. The sunset was dimming the light sky, and the sun illuminated the fields, giving it a dark feel.
The silence stayed for a little bit before Zelda broke it.
"You know, Link," Zelda said. "I really was worried about you throughout your dangerous adventure."
Link turned to Zelda, and her expression became saddened.
"I thought you wouldn't make it out alive," Zelda explained. "Even though I kept confident that you would make it, I was still worried for you."
Link felt bad for the princess, he didn't like seeing her sad, as it broke his heart.
"I feel like I don't deserve you, Link," Zelda continued as she teared up. "You risk your life for me, and I feel like I don't do much in return."
Zelda let her tears spill from her eyes, and Link put a hand on her shoulder.
"Princess," Link replied with a calm, but firm tone. "I don't want you to think that you don't deserve me. I'm glad to be by your side until the end, and I'm not going to stop risking my life for you."
"I really hate to see you hurt." Zelda sniffled.
"I understand, but I do it so I can protect you," Link replied with a smile. "I want to keep you safe from danger and destruction, and I won't be leaving your side no matter."
Zelda smiled upon hearing that sentence. They were silent again, the sunset was about to finish, and was close to transitioning to nighttime.
"Hey, Link?" Zelda asked.
"Yes?" Link replied.
"There's something I want to confess," Zelda explained. "I've been hiding it for years, and I didn't know when to speak it out."
"It's okay to tell me, princess." Link said. "I don't mind."
Zelda blushed a bit, thinking how to say it. She was nervous to admit it to Link, but at the same time, she wanted to get it out after hiding it for so long.
"W-well," Zelda stuttered, "Y-You've been by m-my side for years, and deep down, I th-thought you were m-more than a h-hero, or a b-best friend. Y-You've been here to c-comfort me when I was s-sad, and I-I would d-do the same. W-we would be like a c-close unbreakable b-bond, and I w-would be ha-happy to be sh-sharing our bond t-together. L-Link, I w-wanted to s-say t-that…"
She paused for a bit, becoming flustered. She wondered how he would react, if he would take it well, or if he would even be happy.
She thought of the memories of her and Link, ranging from Link ready to protect her from dangerous enemies, to Link comforting her in need after Calamity Ganon took over Hyrule and killed many of her friends. After thinking of those memories, she finally had the courage to admit it.
"I-I LOVE YOU!" Zelda admitted with a heavy blush. It was finally out of her system.
Link was surprised, and blushed as well. It took him awhile to process everything, which worried Zelda.
"Link?" Zelda asked. "Are you okay?"
"Zelda…" Link whispered, enough for Zelda to hear. "I love you, too."
Zelda started to tear up again, but this time, the tears were from happiness instead of sadness. She walked to Link, and they moved closer, closer, and closer until…
They finally locked lips with each other, and kissed for the very first time. It was a long one, but that wasn't a bother. They were happy that they finally admitted it, that they finally got it out of their systems, and that they finally were a couple.
At the same time, the sunset made a transition to nighttime, and the stars twinkled and shined the night sky a bit.
After a while, Link and Zelda finally pulled away from each other, and stopped kissing. They both looked at each other with a slight blush and a smile on their faces.
"Link," Zelda said. "Thank you for being by my side."
"You're welcome, princess." Link replied.
"You don't need to call me that anymore," Zelda beamed. "Feel free to call me Zelda."
Link smiled as they both hugged each other again.
This was a bit hard to write, because I'll admit, adding the romance and confessions were difficult. But at least I was able to get those ideas on.
I'll admit, I consider Link and Zelda to be like a couple, especially in BOTW. What do you think?
