Eventually, everyone began to accept the fact that Ghostbur was here to stay. He remembered most of them fairly well, he remembered the child he enjoyed to tease, he remembered Tubbo - I mean he was trying to help him to regain some memories here and there, he remembered Techno but not why he was here though it was certainly nice to have him around. He remembered Niki, he remembered his son, he remembered Quackity. Everyone else depended, sometimes it took seeing them for memories to return, sometimes it was harder than that to recall who they were to Wilbur. SometimesHe wished he didn't remember some of them because it brought back that pain in his chest.
See the problem was without all of Wilbur's memories, he simply was not the same person they knew. His former life was a bittersweet thing and he could feel the tension in the air when people referred to it. But he never understood it.
Was he the bad guy? He saw every awkward head turn and averted gaze when there was tension. He had asked not to know of what had happened, largely for fear out of the negativity causing him far too much hurt but he could feel just how much it was affecting their home lives. There was this certain hushed tone when they spoke about the former president, Wilbur Soot. He couldn't help but feel like the pieces they swept under the rug to keep him happy were large portions of the story. An "Oh yeah, he was great if you just ignore all that bad stuff" sort of feeling.
Everyone kept telling him he was bad. Or that he was better this way. Why did they like Ghostbur but not Wilbur? If they didn't outright say it, you could feel it from how they skated around him with some caution at first until realising that the fundamentally faulty parts of him died with his body that day.
"You went crazy" "You blew up L'manberg" "Power-hungry" none of them holding any weight to them. There was no recollection of this. It felt impossible to relate when there was such a large barrier between who he was and who he is, only now he was suffering from the consequences that alive him had been running from this whole time.
He'd need to get to the bottom of this one day He knew that it was an inevitability that he would need to rectify his wrong doings, but he just wasn't prepared for those burdens to re-enter his life all at once.
