Chap 7: Beginning
"Ah!" Cole sighed contentedly "That hit the spot" He sank deeper into the bathtub, the hot water around his body losing up his muscles.
It was rare for the ninja to be able to take a bath, living with so many people does have its disadvantages (especially when one of them is Kai who takes forever just styling his hair). But today, it was only the earth master and nindroids home.
They had defeated the Onis a couple hourd ago but since everyone was injured, they went to the hospital. Well, everyone except Cole (Good thing too, they already had to drag Jay and Lloyd, no need to add Cole to the list). He didn't even have a scratch which, while was very bizarre, no one complained.
The raven may have an idea how he managed to survive such a fatal fall but that would require a trip to the Airjutsu Temple tomorrow. He didn't want to though. He just want to sleep and eat cakes, the reincarnation of ilultimate happiness.
Which he intends on doing right after getting dress. Unfortunately, nothing ever goes as plan for the ninja.
While he was rummaging through his closet for clothes, a deep-toned voice spoke.
"You must like black a lot" Cole yelped and jerk around, pulling his fist up defensively. The voice was unfamiliar and could very well be an enemy that snuck inside the monastery to kill them in their sleep.
An Oni was leaning against the wall on his bed, watching him with an amused smile. What was he doing here? Cole was pretty sure they got rid of all the Oni.
The raven remained quiet and tightened his fist, preparing himself for the upcoming battle. The Oni's amusement only increased.
"Surely you are not intending to fight me naked" That comment made Cole realised he was dressed in the outfit he was born with. Blood rushed to his face, reddening it enough to put Kai's suit to shame.
"Get the heck out!" Cole yelled out of embarrassment than anything before, throwing a shuriken at the evil creature who easily caught between his two fingers.
"Where did you get that?" He asked as he examined the sharp weapon. Cole just glared (They were ninja for crying out loud, of course they have weapons in their rooms) before demanding he leaves again. He's getting tired of holding the towel.
The Oni laughed before throwing the star blade back and... dissipating? No seriously, he just turned into smoke and faded away!
Doesn't matter, his time was limited. He had no idea when the Oni will be back and he had no intention of being seen naked ever again. He speedily changed into the clothes he already took out.
True to the Oni's words, Cole had a lot of black clothes. All his bottoms were and almost all the tops as well (At least not all of them were completely black). There was only a couple of orange and grey shirts.
No sooner did Cole finish dressing, the oni reappeared on his bed in the same exact position and the raven wonder for a minute if he didn't just turn invisible.
"I see you are done" The oni commented and Cole narrowed his eyes.
"What are you doing here?" He asked instead, staying within safe distance and on guard.
"Waiting for my end to come" The Oni announced indifferently, leaving the raven dumbfounded.
"Do not act so surprise, child." He glared angrily at the human before him and stood up.
"You and your friends have killed all of my people"
What? No! They didn't kill the Oni!... right?
The demonic creature advance towards Cole, who started backing away, with a deadly aura.
"There is no reason why I should not do the same" He continued. Cole's back hit the wooden walls and he only had enough time to glance take a quick glance behind before the Oni trapped him.
The Oni had slammed his hands on both sides beside Cole's head and was leaning heavily forward. His face was so close the earth ninja could feel his breath of his face (Really not pleasent)
"It would be so easy as well" The moment he whispered the words, Cole activated his elemental powers and seized his arms.
"AAAHH!"
Only to let out an agonizing scream and let go. The Oni was grinning broadly while Cole looked at his hands. His palm and fingers were all cut up and bleeding profoundly. He glanced to his right and Instead of the Oni's arms, were circular saws. (The hands were still there, it was only the arms that turned into a bunch of spiky blade)
Cole watched in amazement as black clouds wrap around the blades and transformed them back to their original forms, muscular arms.
The Oni grapped the raven's throat and knocked him against the wall, forcing out all the oxygen in his lungs. Cole tried to pry the hand away from his air passage with his damaged hands. It only made the arm and floors bloody.
"Do not underestimate me, child." He tightened his grip, cutting off Cole's air supply. The raven's attempts to get free became more desperate. If he doesn't do something soon, he will lose consciousness and his life along.
"I am more powerful than you. You, alone cannot defeat me" It was a statement the Cole intends on proving wrong.
He called forth his elemental power, but a sword thrust into the wall, froze the raven on the spot. The blade was so close to his head it grazed his cheek and ear, drawing more of the crimson liquid.
"I should kill you all and avenge my friends" The Oni spat, looking hatefully at the raven in his hand. Oh how he wanted to crush the pathetic creatures neck right now.
"But it would be a waste" He sighed in resignation and let go of the suffocating raven who started taking large gulp of air in between coughs.
The Oni looked woefully at the human. With one last cough, Cole was finally able to regain his breath enough to look up at the demonic creature.
Saying he was confuse would be an understatement. Cole had never been more lost than right now. The Oni kept sending mixed signal of his intentions.
First he appears in his room like a smug asshole, then he says he's waiting for his death, then he attacks him while rambling about avenging his companions and then let's him go. What the heck is up with that guy?!
The Oni walked back to his bed while Cole just stood awkwardly. He looked back and forth between his hands and the Oni. Finally he decided he could leave the creature alone to do as will (not counting the previews little episode) he followed. He stilled stayed a good meter away though.
"Come here, child" The Oni patted the spot next to him and waited for hesitant raven to obey. When the boy still did not move, he snapped.
"If I wanted to kill you, I would have done so already!" That got the black ninja moving.
Cole nervously slide into his assigned seat. What was he suppose to do? Fortunately, Cole was spared the headache when the Oni took hold of his arms. Dark clouds seeping from the Oni's hands severed his own rendering them cold and tingly.
"What are you doing?!" Cole exclaimed, fear clear in his voice. He hate that coldness. He couldn't explain it, but it was different from touching ice.
"Quite down, child" The Oni reassured softly amd Cole watched in amazement and the black clouds continuously circled his cuts before returning back to the Oni. Cole pulled his hands back and examined them.
They were completely healed. There was no trace of injury ever being there, not even a slight scar. How did he do that? Now that Cole's thinking, what can Oni do?
"Hum... Thanks?" The Oni nodded at the uncertain gratitude.
"Where are your friends, child?" The Oni questioned instead, to which Cole only blinked.
"Why do you want my friends?" It couldn't be for killing them since he was still alive and the Oni had thousands of opportunities to kill him by now.
"Have you listen to a word I said, child? I am waiting for my death and you alone can never hope to defeat me, especially as you are. Now, I ask again, where are your friends?"
More questions filled the raven's mind but he needed to solve the more pressing ones.
"The others should be back soon, but huh... why do you want to die?" Cole never thought he would be meeting a suicidal enemy, much less, trying to talk said enemy out of it (Yang was... another case, he wasn't suicidal, maybe depressed and desperate to get out of loneliness. He should visited the Sensei sometime soon, Yang would want to see if he was okay after the Oni episode)
"You really do not listen, child. You killed all of my people, what else can I possibly do except from joining them?"
"Wait! How can you be so sure we killed them. The Tornado of Creation doesn't destroy. I thought we send you into some kind of new realm."
"There is much you do not know, child. The Tornado of Creation, as you call it, can be use for destruction when the green element is included. And you did send my people into a realm," why was Cole not relieved? "Only it was the Departed Realm"
Oh boy! They did kill hundreds of Onis just a few hours ago. Cole felt sick inside.
"W-Why didn't you kill me, then?" Anyone would want revenge for killing their loved ones, and that's with a good guy. Now imagine what the Bringer of Doom could do!
"It would have been a waste" The Oni sighed
"What do you mean?"
"I do not expect a child like you to understand" Okay, that was starting to get on his nerves.
"Would you quit calling me a child! I'm a man" The Oni raised an eyebrow
"I am aware. I saw you have the male genitals" Saying Cole's face was crimson was an understatement.
"I didn't mean it like that!" The Oni laughed at how flustered the raven was. "I'm a grown adult!"
That was technically not a lie since, despite being a teenager, he had way more responsibilities the all the others adults in Ninjago.
"I am centuries older than you, therefore, compare to me, you are a mere child" Cole snapped his mouth shut, the Oni had an unarguable point.
"But to answer you're question, it would be ironic to kill the very person I saved, would it not?"
"You saved me?" Cole repeatedly softly, tilting his head slightly.
"How else would you have survived such a fall?" It was not a question.
Cole had hypothesized that the reason he was still alive was due to some unknown ghostly leftovers abilities. That was why he needed to go see Sensei Yang. But now...
"Why?
The Oni sighed, this child asks way too many question to his enemies. Although, it seems he subconsciously let his guard up. Good.
"Why would I not?"
Cole shrugged "You were trying to take over Ninjago, why would you?"
"Who said I was trying to take over Ninjago?" The Oni asked, bewildering the raven.
"You weren't trying to conquering Ninjago" The Oni shook his head but received a glare.
"Then why did you turn all those people into stone? And covered all of the City in darkness?" It would appear the raven was not as naive as he thought. He would need to be more careful and play his cards better.
"Calm down, child. I will explain everything" He gently caressed the elemental master's cheek. "But for now"
Dark clouds seeped out of the Oni's member and entered the little cut. Cole thought he was only healing the light injury and braced himself for the bitter coldness. What he wasn't prepared for however, was the sudden drowsiness that took hold of him.
"Sleep well child" The Oni told him as he desperately tried to fight the sleep off. The oni was gently caressing his hair and leading him to a laying position. It wasn't long until Cole's world went completely black.
The Oni smiled and lay down his precious plans. The boy contained great power that he himself wasn't aware of, but that would be of immense used to him.
Of course, he could have just possessed the boy but that would be too bothersome and his ghostly abilities answers only to him. Plus, he didn't want to cut his fun short.
I'm super sorry if it's so cringe or confusing or weird or whatever but I tried my best. And I just had to make ma boi all flustered because of my Bi-ass. I'm so sorry... but I do hope it was still enjoyable.
