Chapter 19: Eye for an Eye
The Spardas continued their inspection and containment of the demon invasion. Mira was a mite bored while Nero and Vergil were having a blast.
"This is fun!" Nero said as he dodged the demonized tank, and his father dodged the helicopter and missiles. Mira downed hers already and was watching with a small smile. Father and son finished up and rejoined a patient Mira.
"Are we ready?" She asked. They nodded and before they could say anything, Mira jumped off the building!
"Mira!"
"Mother!" Nero yelled as he and his father followed suit. Mira smiled and turned and shot the demonic bats that were flying up. The trio landed and the building before them distorted and morphed into a twisted demon with more of the demon bats.
"Ok, this is beyond my weird shit o meter!" Nero said. "Nico's going to love these pieces."
"Oh, well done my son." Vergil praised. "On each boss you've been collecting I see."
"I thought it best since Nico couldn't be here." Nero said. "It'll test her skills."
"A brilliant deduction, bravo." The elder said. Mira smiled and rejoined them, holding the core of the monster.
"I believe she would need this." Mira said as she held it out for Nero, who smiled and thanked his mother. Vergil chuckled and re-tucked a stray bang behind Mira's ear.
"Where to next my love?" Vergil asked. Mira looked up and pointed to a flying helicopter.
"We follow that." She said. The men nodded and followed her. They made their way to a warehouse like rig and fought their way through and Mira stopped still when they reached the rig. The man before her seemed familiar.
"It can't be, you died…."
"You confuse me with my father." He said haughtily. He looked at Mira. "You are quite a rare beauty. I'm sure you can comfort my nights." Nero's jaw dropped while his father's jaw clenched. Mira did not look too thrilled at the man's impromptu suggestion.
"How dare you." Vergil seethed as he put Mira behind him. The man smirked.
"Oh, is she yours?" The man asked. "She won't be for much longer. I'll make sure of that."
"Ah, the delusions of an arrogant youth," Vergil said icily. "Those of such nature fall to the deepest pits." The man growled and summoned a minotaur of fire. Vergil rolled his eyes. Oh please, He held up a hand and blasted the minotaur with a blast of ice, blasting his core out and sent the minotaur's lifeless body into the water. Nero laughed. It was too freaking easy. Even Mira had to giggle.
They got off the rig and watched as the warehouse burned, Vergil handed the core to Nero who grinned and put it away.
"Wow, the island looks a bit warped…." Nero said. Vergil and Mira nodded. "Why is that?"
"Evil corrupts." Mira said. "So, the stronger the influence, the more corrupt something becomes."
"Well said my love." Vergil said. "So, let's be off, the sooner we get this done, the sooner we can return home."
"I agree, this place creeps me out." Nero said. "Definitely beyond weird shit o meter."
"You should've seen Mallet Island; it would've blown your mind kiddo."
"Where is that?"
"It blew up. Once I defeated Mundus, the first time, he tried to take me down with him. Which reminds me, how'd you get out Babe?'
"Father was there?!"
"Yea he was, but he wasn't himself." Nero looked at his father in silent question.
"That I'll tell when we're safe at home." Vergil said, "We must remain focused and press on."
"Yea, let's get going. I wouldn't mind a nice hot shower right now." Mira sighed. Vergil held her and leaned in.
"And a full body massage afterwards my love?" Vergil whispered heatedly. Mira shivered and moaned softly.
"Oh, you read my mind Babe." She whispered back and Nero chuckled and shook his head. His parents were simply horrid! They are both Wicked Fucks! If I get like that, I'm shooting myself!
After a while the family made way to the man's office and his father actually yelped. Nero and Mira looked at the elder who rubbed his eyes and hissed.
"This office is an abomination to the eyes." He said. "Nothing matches. How the hell do you mix abstract with art deco?"
"Uh Father," Nero blinked. "That was so…"
"Nerdy." Mira laughed. Vergil chuckled and swatted at them playfully. Both dodged and laughed. The strange man rolled his eyes and wanted to retch.
"Oh, look the douche looks green in the gills." Mira grinned. The man smirked and held up a hand, ready to blast her but Nero pushed her aside and took the hit!
"NERO!" His parents cried as the young devil fell to the ground. Mira sobbed and crawled to their son, inspecting him. Vergil was livid.
"You will taste my blade. Give my regards to your father in the Underworld." Vergil growled as he triggered. The man's eyes widened as he looked at the massive and angered demon. He didn't stand a chance as Vergil ripped him apart, literally.
When all was quiet and the man was dead, Vergil de triggered and went to Mira, who was holding their son.
"He's alive but he won't wake up." Mira whimpered. Vergil inspected Nero and sighed in relief.
"He is alive, he's trapped in a nightmare. I can get him out." Vergil dismissed the nightmare from his son and Nero moaned as he slowly woke up.
"Damn what hit me?"
"King Douchebag blasted you with a nightmare." Mira said as she hugged their son. "Luckily, your father knew how to take care of it."
"Now, let us get out of here. Hopefully, there are no more demented people in the wings." Vergil helped his son up and Mira braced herself and the men blinked.
"Mira, why are you…" Soon the ground rumbled and split as a bright demon came out. One moment it was a male, in the next, it was a female. Mira groaned and whispered.
"This is not happening…."
"Wow, that's one confused demon." Nero blinked. Vergil blinked then laughed before unsheathing Yamato and pointing it towards Argosax. Mira summoned her own sword and Nero unsheathed Red Queen.
"Let's end this." Vergil said with a wicked smirk. Mira and Nero also smirked and as one, the family lunged. With a shriek at the power Argosax shattered. Vergil handed Yamato to Mira who slashed a portal for home and handed it back. With a last look, the family returned home.
