"5 days instead of 7! That has to be a record!" Aconic had to raise his voice to be heard over the commotion, we had previously been chosen (kind of forced) to take on a mission in international areas. I had requested a team to meet me there, I don't mind what skill level either, I would love to train some newer guys, but to have a group relatively able then that would be good, too.
I made my way off the ship, onto a beach with golden sands. Lining the top were many sand dunes, I looked around for a path, anything. There was nothing, not even a small pathway.
I turned to Aconic, who seemed to be having similar thoughts as me. "We either camp the night or hope like hell that we find a village nearby, your choice, Forseir. But I'd rather find somewhere to stay."
"I guessed that," my tone of voice sounded grim, why else would they drop us off here with no knowledge of where to go? "we better make for higher ground, maybe - if we're lucky we'll find something."
No sooner had I finished that sentence I heard voices, and I don't mean voices in my head, they were just over the dunes!
"They said to meet by this beach, didn't they? Why isn't there a ship like they said?" One voice said, definitely female.
"Yes yes, I know. But we're already late, maybe they dropped our responsibilities off and left." A second voice, male, sounded a bit tired.
"Sure, sure. But can you stop calling them responsibilities? I know the job title stated that they were a little defiant to orders, and young in age. But how bad can they really be? Surely they're good enough to be sent on that horrible mission. Arceus.. I hope they'll be alright. Don't you?" voice number one sounded kind and caring.
"yeah!" A third voice let out, also male. "At least give them a chance! We don't know how they're at with skill, for all we know they could be battle hardened soldiers already!" This voice seemed optimistic. The only thing the voices had in common was that they were getting closer, and clearly expecting me and Aconic to be there.
The trio of voices made it to the summit of mt. Sand dune and looked down upon us. From what I could see, the trio consisted of a Frogideir, Raichu and Dragonair. In which the Dragonair immediately made her way down towards us briskly. I had hardly any time to react! She tackled us to the ground in a hastily hug. So much for dusting myself off just before.
"Hello! You must be our new clients! I'm Nalion, but you two lovelies can just call me Nali~! Up there," She pointed to the others, only just making their way down the dune now, "The Frogideir is Oralin, he's our team leader! He's awesome at his job! And the Raichu is Revial, I just call him Revi. He's more of a geeky guy, loves toying with maps and such. But enough about us, who're you two? We didn't read the small print of the application, so we never caught your names!" She was excited to meet us, which came at a surprise. I'd think they'd treat us as if we weren't up for the job.
"Well," I started. "First lets wait for the remainder of your team to arrive, for proper introductions."
"Sure honey!" She watched as the others finally made it to us. "There we are! Now, about you two." She stared expectantly at me in particular, which made me uncomfortable.
"Alrighty! Well, I'm Staff Sargent Forseir Colma." I looked over at Aconic. "Would you like to introduce yourself, or shall I?"
"I'm good!" Came a hastily response. "I'm Aconic Ausio! Basically, I'm more or less Forseir's partner. We've been working together since we joined. But due to Forseir's actions.. He was Promoted more than me. Making me Corporal. Not that that matters, however! My skillset is more or less the background stuff like planning, mapping and problem solving. Forseir's the fighter, I'm the guy calling where to hit, that sort of stuff, ya know?"
"ooooo, I can already tell that me and you, Aconic, are gonna be very good friends!" Voice number 3 belonged to Revi it seemed, the Raichu. "I'm Revial by the way. I'm team Fasam's intelligence guy! I know the basics of almost any strategy and I can map with reasonable accuracy. How about we compare later?"
"haha, I'd love to! Now, how about you two, I'm guessing you're Oralin." Aconic pointed at the Frogideir
"That's my name." He has a stern, almost sour voice. As if he disliked me and Aconic already. "I'm mostly a fighter, though, they never sent me over to Aratica to help with the war."
"Let me guess. Your superior or whatever said something along the lines of 'you'll be more useful if you stay here and wait for jobs here.' probably in a kind tone aswell, correct?"
"Correct enough! Shall we get back to the village, on the way you can fill us in of any details of the little mission that Nali over there feels is so so dreadful"
Before I could say anything Nali shot back a response.
"Why else would they send them? Why else would they send away their soldiers?" Nali shot a glare at Oralin
"Because maybe they get caught up in too much - or are troublemakers." responded, with a matter-of-fact tone.
"Do these two look at all like they'd be troublemakers? I don't see it!"
"I do." Oralin passes a quick look over to me, then Aconic, then at where they came from. "C'mon then. Lets go" we started walking up the dunes, as we came to the apex of the dune, a tree line became visible, small but wide trees stood at random, with brilliant green leaves forming into a cluster of rough mushrooms. Over the horizon stood a single hill with a lone house. It was too hard to make out specifics, but it just looked like an average wood house, except for how it had what appeared to me as a thatched roof.
"so," I said quickly, before anyone could say anything. "Is that where we're going?"
"Yup! I think you'll love it! It's not crowded at all and it's very easy to get to know most of the Pokemon living there!" She quickly brushed up on me, which surprised me at first, but then generated a warm, comforting feeling. If this is the team I die with - then so be it.
Authors notes
Hi there! its been a while, eh?
well, sorry for the delay in between posts, a lot has happened in real life for me. but anyhow, I'd like to take the time to say that each chapter will follow a different character, unless stated otherwise.
How do you know which character it is following? I will either start the chapter off with the name of the character it is following followed by a colon
(E.G. Aconic: ), or the chapter name will include it. maybe even both
that's enough from me, though. see you all next time and thanks for reading!
