: after Percy kills Minotaur and Sally disappears

The last thing I remember is collapsing on a wooden porch [ . . . ] and the stern faces of a familiar-looking bearded man and a pretty girl, her blond hair curled like a princess's. They both looked down on me and the girl said, "He's the one. He must be."

"Silence, Annabeth," the man said. "He's still conscious. Bring him inside."

63-64: First impressions

She was probably my age, maybe a couple of inches taller, and a whole lot more athletic looking. With her deep tan and her curly blond hair, she was almost exactly what I thought a stereotypical California girl would look like, except her eyes ruined the image. They were startling gray, like storm clouds; pretty, but intimidating, too, as if she were analyzing the best way to take me down in a fight. She glanced at the minotaur horn in my hands, then back at me. I imagined she was going to say, You killed a minotaur! or Wow, you're so awesome! or something like that.

Instead she said, "You drool when you sleep."

84: Annabeth and silly little Luke

"This is Luke," Annabeth said, and her voice sounded different somehow. I glanced over and could've sworn she was blushing. She saw me looking, and her expression hardened again.

102: Luke talking about Annabeth's fate

"[Chiron] said Annabeth wasn't destined to go on a quest yet. She had to wait until . . . somebody special came to the camp."

147-148: Grover and Annabeth go on Percy's quest with him (ALSO IT'S THE FIRST SEAWEED BRAIN)

"Two companions may accompany you. Grover is one. The other has already volunteered, if you will accept her help."

"Gee, who else would be stupid enough to volunteer for a quest like this?"

[ . . . ] "I've been waiting a long time for a quest, seaweed brain," Annabeth said. "If you're going to save the world, I'm the best person to keep you from messing up."

"I suppose you have a plan, wise girl?"

160: Annabeth spies The Kindly Ones (sExUAl tENsiOn)

Annabeth kept slapping her Yankees cap nervously against her thigh. As the last passengers got on, Annabeth clamped her hand onto my knee. "Percy."

170: baby Percabeth being all cutesy

"You're pretty good with that knife," I said.

"You think so?"

"Anybody who can piggyback-ride a Fury is okay by me."

I couldn't really see, but I thought she might've smiled.

"You know," she said, "maybe I should tell you . . . Something funny back on the bus . . ."

173: Annabeth being a sarcastic little bitch and me loving it

"Your head is full of kelp."

198: oh, Percy.

I tried not to drool in my sleep, since Annabeth was sitting next to me.

234: OH, ANNABETH

"Are you kidding?" She looked at me as if I'd just dropped from the moon. Her cheeks were bright red. "Me, go with you on the . . . the 'Thrill Ride of Love'? How embarrassing is that? What if somebody saw me?"

251: SHIT OH MY GOD IMMA CRY

"So if the gods fight," I said, "will things line up the way they did with the Trojan War? Will it be Athena versus Poseidon?"

[Annabeth] put her head against the backpack Ares had given us, and closed her eyes. "I don't know what my mom will do. I just know I'll fight next to you."

"Why?"

"Because you're my friend, Seaweed Brain. Any more stupid questions?"

257: those little flirts :)

"[Grover's blessing] only works on wild animals."

"So it would only affect Percy," Annabeth reasoned.

"Hey!" I protested.

263: Percy wakes Annabeth from the spell at the Lotus Hotel in Vegas and it's TOO MUCH

I grabbed her wrist and yanked her away from the game.

"Hey!" She screamed and hit me, but nobody else even bothered looking at us. They were too busy.

I made her look directly in my eyes. I said, "Spiders. Large, hairy spiders."

That jarred her.

290: Awww they're scared of dead people

Annabeth grabbed hold of my hand. Under normal circumstances, this would've embarrassed me, but I understood how she felt. She wanted reassurance that somebody else was alive on this boat.

354; THOSE LITTLE FLIRTS

Annabeth's shroud was so beautiful—gray silk with embroidered owls—I told her it seemed a shame not to bury her in it. She punched me and told me to shut up.

374: Triste bye-bye time

She held out her hand. I shook it.

"Take care, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth told me. "Keep your eyes open."

"You too, Wise Girl."
