Okay, so in my defense before you all descend on me like rabid animals, all of the teams and matches were decided by a dice, and the results of the matches was decided by three coin flips.

Fate decided this all. Not me. Lady Luck. So blame her if you didn't like the results and are insane.

Other than that, check out the character sheets for the UHC Kids in the FAQs document on my AO3 (Same Username)

And thank you to everyone who let me use their OCs. I love them all and they are now my children.

In other news, just a heads up, but Emerald fangs will be taking a Hiatus after the Provisional License Exam Arc is concluded (Probably around chapter 16 or 17). I love this story, but I've been too focused on it lately and am starting to burn out on it. So, I'm going to take a break for a few months to work on a different project. Refresh myself. Then return and make you all suffer for my PLANS.

"Good morning and welcome to the UHC!"

"UHC?" Hagakure asked as the five 1-A students looked at the small group in front of them, "What's that?"

"Underground Heroics Class," Aizawa answered as he stepped between the two groups, "Now, make your introductions, then it's time to start training your quirks. 1-A students, you're a bit behind on the special tactics classes, but you should be able to catch up soon enough."

"Wait, "special tactics classes"?" Yaoyorozu asked, "What are you talking about, Sensei?"

"Sneaky things," one of the girls from the UHC called, a flutter of petals falling from her arm as she waved, a second arm sprouting from her elbow, "Like, Underground Heroics specialized stuff!"

"That's enough, Kirine," Aizawa sighed, "UHC, introduce yourselves."

The classes stood silently for a moment, the UHC all turning to look at a particular person as he toyed with the thin grey capture weapon wrapped around his neck and shoulders.

"Huh? Oh, fine," the purple-haired teen grumbled as he stepped forwards, pulling the strange mask he was wearing down to reveal his mouth. Other than that, his outfit was almost exactly the same as Aizawa's, capture scarf included, "Hitoshi Shinso."

"Ah, the boy from the Sports Festival," Yaoyorozu said, "It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Whatever," Shinso sighed as he shuffled back into line.

"Hi, I'm Ayame Kirine," the girl from before said happily as she waved again, the second arm that had sprouted from her elbow fading into a shower of petals, "Nice to finally meet you!"

Izuku took a moment to inspect the girl. Her skin was a deep grey, almost silver in color, and her hair a vibrant blue. Her eyes were quite striking as well, with green sclera and violet irises, the alien look reminding him somewhat of Mina. Her costume was relatively simple, consisting of a black leather biker-style jacket with purple fabric sleeves over a purple Kevlar vest and black pants with black boots and purple gloves. The outfit also had simple embroidered petal designs scattered across it.

"P-Pipi Vesper," the girl beside her said quietly, pulling the bat-like gasmask she was wearing to the side of her head. She was short, and thin, her costume consisting of a black padded vest, leaving her arms free, glowing lilac lines running the length of her costume. Her large, bat-like ears swiveled on the sides of her head as she blinked her completely black eyes, squinting slightly in the light.

"Aoi Mizutoko," the blue-haired boy said, his shoulders slouched quite badly forwards. He gave a slow yawn, bags under his eyes as he played with the lock of hair that hung down the middle of his face, splitting just above his nose. He wore a thick, dark-blue, fur-lined jacket, and simple blue pants.

"Negumi Kotaro," the next boy said as he stepped forwards, looking at them grumpily. Izuku immediately recognized the outfit he was wearing as a copy of a famous pre-quirk fictional detective's coat and hat, though he couldn't quite remember the name, "And Mizutoko-san, stand upright! You're doing your back no favors always slouching like that!"

Aoi just shrugged, an impressive feat considering his slouch, as the next student stepped forwards. Izuku shivered slightly as the 7-foot-tall cat-like person glared directly at him, his chest and feet bare, only a simple pair of loose pants covering his legs as he stood there.

"Kai Nyanyo," the boy growled, eyes still locked onto Izuku, "And you are the so called "Monster of 1-A", aren't you?"

"W-what?" Izuku said, blinking in surprise as the other teen stalked forwards until he was standing directly in front of Izuku.

"Well not here!" Nyanyo hissed, "I am the only true monster in the UHC, and I shall prove it!"

"Nyanyo," Aizawa barked, making the teen glare at him, "You're already on thin ice, get back in line."

Izuku watched as the cat-like teen returned to his place, eyes still firmly locked onto Izuku.

"Sup, I'm Minamoto Jiko," the next boy said with a calm grin. Izuku looked at him, his costume consisting of a simple blue and yellow jumpsuit with large metallic blue gauntlets and boots, a bright yellow utility belt hanging from his waist, "I hope we can all get along."

The next person stepped forwards, Izuku blinking as she seemed to move with an unheard rhythm even as she only took a single step forward. Her costume looked like a belly-dancers, all sheer and loose fabric, the various bells and charms that hung from it giving off a melodious sound as she moved. She quickly wrote on a white board before holding it up, the five 1-A students leaning forwards slightly to read it.

Greetings, I am Kogomi Kagaro. I apologize for not speaking, but my quirk limits my vocal capabilities.

"Vocal capabilities?" Yaoyorozu asked, "Are you like Present Mic, but can't turn it off?"

"Nah, she can only sing," Kirine cut in, "And her songs mess with your head."

"Wait, really?" Izuku gasped, suddenly gesturing with his hands, Do you know Sign?

Yes, I do, She signed back, before Aizawa suddenly stepped between them.

"All of you are going to be learning at least basic Sign Language," he grumbled, cutting the impromptu conversation off, "It's useful for Underground Heroics, so prepare yourselves. Now quit fooling around and finish introducing yourselves."

"Sorry, Sensei," the next person said as they stepped forwards, their impressive dark purple robe fluttering around them, the gold arcane symbols sown into the fabric shimmering as they adjusted their large floppy wizards hat, "Hello, I am Kan Rokko. I use they/them pronouns. Please respect that."

"They/them?" Hagakure asked, "What does that mean?"

"It means our new classmate doesn't identify as either male or female," Shoji suddenly answered as Rokko nodded, "So they prefer gender-neutral pronouns."

"Ah, okay!" Hagakure said, "It's a bit weird, but to each their own!"

"So that's everyone?" Jiro asked, looking around.

"Not quite," the voice made the five students jump, looking around in surprise as a tenth student seemed to appear in front of them.

Matted brown hair hung down his back over a simple non-descript tan trench coat, what looked like light riot gear was fitted to his strangely thin body under it. Izuku scowled as he tried to concentrate on the figure more, noticing that he was generally thin the whole way through. His hands and fingers were quite long and slender, and his feet were so small Izuku had almost thought that he had peg legs like Ectoplasm for a moment. Coupled with the blank mask, he gave off a creepy atmosphere, especially as Izuku was having trouble recalling if he'd seen him before.

"Hi," he said happily, pulling the mask off to reveal a non-descript face, his eyes a dull brown as he smiled, "Name's Kusho Chikaku. Don't feel bad about not noticing me before, my quirk does that."

"Alright, now that you've all been introduced, UHC, back to training," Aizawa barked, the ten students immediately scattering back to their positions before, "You five, read these."

Aizawa handed the five 1-A students a thick pack of papers each, Hagakure letting out a low groan as they leafed through the document.

"This is gonna take forever!" the invisible girl moaned.

"First team is…Midoriya, Shinso and Nyanyo," Aizawa called as the three looked at each other in surprise, "And they'll be facing…Uraraka, Asui and Koda."

"Oh!" Ochako gasped as she and Tsuyu looked over at Izuku, the teen looking back at them with equal surprise.

"You will have five minutes to discuss strategy and prepare with your teams before the exercise starts," the older man sighed, "But first, let me explain what you'll be doing."

Aizawa led the thirty students back inside Field Beta, until they stood in front of a familiar building, the members of 1-A looking at it in surprise.

"Hey, this is the place where we had our first Hero Training exercise!" Sero laughed, "That brings back memories!"

"The exercise you'll be doing today is a simple one, though it means a lot," Aizawa said, "If the UHC students do well enough, they'll be allowed to take part in the Provisional License exams."

The two classes looked at each other, the UHC kids suddenly growing more serious as most of 1-A gave them encouraging nods and thumbs up.

"Quiet," the tired teacher growled, the two classes falling silent as he explained the rules, "This will be like a modified game of capture the flag. One team will start on the roof, the other outside the building. The objective is to capture the objective on the third floor and get it to the opposing team's zone."

"Oh, it's kind of like the first exercise we did as well," Kaminari hummed, "Who'll be playing the Heroes and Villains?"

"No one. Labelling groups like that is illogical, it distracts from the purpose of the exercise," Aizawa growled, before pointing to a set of stairs on the side of the building, "UHC team starts outside, 1-A starts on the roof. You'll have 5 minutes to plan, then a buzzer will sound. Everyone else get to the viewing room. Now."

All the students of 1-A looked at each other as the UHC kids laughed, already heading towards the viewing room as Ochako, Tsuyu and Koda headed up the stairs.

"Hey, Yaomomo," Mina called as she walked over to the gathered UHC students, "No offense, but why are you in the Underground class? Wouldn't Tokoyami be a better fit?"

"Honestly, I do not know," the tall girl said as she turned towards the pink-skinned teen, "Apparently we were all specially selected by the Principal himself."

"Oh wow!" Mina gasped, "So not only are you a recommendation student, but you're also selected by the Principal! Real fancy!"

"Oi, raccoon-eyes, quit fucking fraternising with the enemy!" Bakugo growled from across the room, still eyeing the rest of the UHC kids with contempt.

"Hey, Yaomomo isn't an enemy!" Mina huffed, "And neither are the rest of them! Right?"

She said this as she turned towards the other UHC students, several nodding as the others just shrugged, making Mina grin.

"Awesome! More friends!" she cried, before turning back to Yaoyorozu, "Hey Yaomomo, since our resident Quirk nerd isn't here, wanna tell us about your new classmates that are competing right now?"

"Oh!" Yaoyorozu said, looking back at the rest of the UHC class, who just nodded or looked away, before she turned back and spoke, "Very well, since we shall all be working together in the future, I shall share what I know."

Izuku and his team stood silently outside the building, waiting for the buzzer that would start the exercise to sound. Quietly, he looked over at his teammates.

Hitoshi Shinso, Quirk: Brainwash, the ability to put someone into a state where they must obey his commands. The trigger being getting them to respond to something he'd said. He also had the same type of capture gear as Aizawa, the teacher having spent a great deal of time teaching the purple-haired teen how to use it, as well as his brand-new voice-changing mask. His hero costume was simple, almost an exact copy of Aizawa's, just a simple black jumpsuit and a utility belt.

Beside him stood Kai Nyanyo, Quirk: Nekomata, a mutation quirk that seemed simple enough, giving him the appearance and abilities of a humanoid cat, though he had plenty more. The tall teen was incredibly strong and could take immense amounts of damage. He even seemed to have a healing factor, boasting that he had once been stabbed by a railing and had been fully healed in only a few days. This led to him constantly talking about how he was a "true monster" and had resulted in a one-sided rivalry between him and Izuku. His Hero costume was also very simple, just a pair of loose pants, no accessories at all, not even shoes.

"This shall be simple," Nyanyo purred, making the other two teens jump, "I shall simply destroy them and then take the target to the zone, you shall wait outside."

"That doesn't sound like a good idea," Izuku half growled, "You still can't control your strength properly, so you might hurt them too much. Remember, this is just an exercise."

"Worried I'll harm your precious women?" the cat-like teen chuckled, "Maybe I'll take them for myself once I defeat you and show that I am the one true monster of the UHC."

"Shut up," Izuku growled, stalking towards the grinning cat, "You hurt them, and you'll have to face me!"

"Gladly!" Nyanyo growled back, lowering himself onto all fours as the fur on his back flared up.

"Ladies, ladies," Shinso sighed as he grabbed the both of them by a shoulder, "You're both pretty, but let's focus on the exercise first. You can kill each other later."

"R-right," Izuku muttered, stepping back with a slightly dazed look on his face, "Sorry Shinso."

The purple-haired teen just shrugged as he turned back to the building.

"What are we going to do?" Ochako asked, looking at the other two worriedly, "Izuku is almost unstoppable, and we only sort of know about the other two's quirks."

"Izuku won't go all out against us, kero," Tsuyu croaked, "I think we should worry more about the cat guy and Shinso. Izuku told us that he needs us to respond to his words for his quirk to work, right?"

"Yeah," Ochako muttered, "So that means we shouldn't talk to each other too much when we meet him. We also can't look Izuku in the eye or we'll definitely be taken by his Influence, even if we have resistance."

"Resistance?" the quiet voice startled them as they looked at Koda, who was gently petting a small dove that was sitting on his shoulder.

"Oh, right! Izuku's Influence can be resisted by a strong willpower. We sort of have an extra resistance to it because of…well, reasons," Ochako replied, "Uhm…sorry Koda, but I think you'll be especially weak to it. Maybe you should stay here and try defend the drop-off zone?"

The three teens looked over at the large red circle that had been painted on the center of the roof, an identical one on the ground outside. The rocky-skinned teen just nodded, whispering something to the dove on his shoulder before it flew off.

"You know," Tsuyu hummed, "We technically have the advantage here, kero."

The other two looked at her in confusion before she explained.

"Sensei never said we had to stay insidethe building."

Izuku blinked as he lay on his back on the floor.

The exercise had been simple up until this point, despite both him and Shinso having to keep Nyanyo from trying to charge ahead alone. They'd reached the place where the target was being kept easily, spotting the clearly marked mannequin in the middle of the large room. Nyanyo had wasted no time in jumping towards it, only to be slammed into by one of the large metal crates that had littered the floors and rooms. He'd let out a surprisingly cute confused mewling sound as the box had collided with him, sending both crashing into the wall before they fell to the floor, leaving the cat-like teen trapped.

Then a window had shattered in the distance, the sound of flapping wings filling the air as a swarm of birds flooded into the room. Izuku and Shinso had been forced to duck back as the animals suddenly began pecking and scratching at them, before, as if with a single mind, they all turned and left, revealing the now missing mannequin.

"Shit," Shinso growled as he darted into the room, the large crate being tossed aside as Nyanyo freed himself, letting out a loud yowl as he did so, "I see her!"

The purple-haired teen threw out his capture weapon, sending it flying through another doorway as Izuku heard a shout of surprise and a loud thud.

"The target is still moving!" Shinso shouted as he yanked back on the capture weapon, "Shinku, Nyan, get a move on!"

"I shall kill that bitch!" Nyanyo howled as he shot towards the door, blinking as something slammed into him again, sending him headfirst into the wall, smashing straight through the thin concrete.

"No, you won't!" Izuku growled as he dissolved into the air, the cloud of ash shooting towards the floating mannequin. He spoke just as he floated over Ochako, "Sorry, Ochako, but…"

"You're captured!"

"Not ye-," her voice cut off as her eyes went blank, Shinso standing over her as he pulled down his voice altering mask, taking out the capture tape and wrapping it around her wrists.

"Now," he said, "Release your quirk."

The mannequin began to fall just as Izuku reached it, the top of his body forming out of the ash as he stretched out his arm towards it. Suddenly, the false person shot away, flying out of an open window, a familiar pink tongue wrapped around its waist.

"Dammit! Tsu's outside!" he called, falling into a roll as the rest of his body reformed, charging towards the window. He staggered as a grey blur shot past him, Nyanyo shoving him aside as he leapt out the window, claws digging into the outside of the building as he shot after the frog-like girl.

"You shall not escape me, prey!" he shouted as he darted after her.

"My quirk may make me like a prey animal," Tsuyu muttered around her tongue, "But that's still rude, kero."

Izuku stuck his head out the window just in time to see the swarm of birds return, descending on Nyanyo just as the teen jumped for Tsuyu, knocking him off balance and sending him tumbling to the ground below with a shriek. Blood dripped from his claws as the cloud of pigeons suddenly scattered, several dead birds lying on the ground around him as he charged towards the drop-off zone. He managed to reach it just before Tsuyu, the girl freezing as he stood between her and her target.

"You can't win, Tsu!" Izuku's voice called, making Tsuyu flinch slightly.

"I wouldn't bet on i-," her mind went blank as she muttered quietly, Izuku flying down as Shinso stepped out of the doorway just below the now brainwashed girl.

"Hand over the mannequin," the purple-haired teen said as she gently lowered it into his arms, "And come down from the wall so we can capture you."

With Tsuyu caught, Izuku took the mannequin even as Nyanyo grumbled, and flew up to the roof, landing on the edge as Koda gave a surprisingly loud shout. Izuku almost fell for a moment as the flock of birds swarmed around him, wings smacking into him as he tried to stumble forwards.

"Sorry Koda!" he called, a grin forming on his face, "But this won't work!"

"An…aura? Of Influence?" The green-haired teen asked as his Sire nodded, "How do I do that?"

"First, you must clear your mind. Find the sensation or emotion you wish to project and focus on it. Once it has become all that fills your mind, release it as you would your Influence, though not at any target," his Sire explained, a sudden sense of unease building in Izuku's chest, "While this technique is much, for lack of a better word, weaker than using the Compulsion aspect of your Influence, it requires far less blood and is more subtle. Making it more useful in situations where you don't wish people to know you are Influencing them."

"I see," Izuku replied, hand going to his chin, "I can already think of a few places this would be useful."

"Ultimate Move: Aura of Influence: Fear!"

Izuku took a slow breath as he channelled the energy through himself, the swarm of birds shuddering as he did so. A moment later, he released the wave of emotion, the flock letting out a loud series of squawks and chirps as they scattered, a quiet gasp catching his attention as he turned to see Koda crouched behind him, capture tape in hand.

"Sorry, Koda," he said, smiling down at the teen, blinking when there was no response, "Koda?"

The other teen remained motionless, Izuku realising that he was unconscious, frozen in fear as he'd also been caught in the wave of Influence. Giving a soft apology and glancing into his eyes, Izuku sent a wave of calm through his opponent. Koda went lax a moment later as the Vampire caught him, laying him gently down on the roof. Izuku grabbed the mannequin and walked over to the drop-off zone, depositing it in the circle as he finally heard Aizawa's tired voice crackle through the earpieces they were wearing.

"UHC wins. Shinso, free your captives, Midoriya, bring Koda downstairs, the medic bots will take him to Recovery Girl," the man sighed, "Good job everyone."

Izuku glanced over at Ochako and Tsuyu as Mina and Hagakure seemed to be trying to comfort them, the two girls giving them tired smiles as they sat in the seats of the viewing station. He felt kind of guilty that they'd beat them, but at the same time, it was just supposed to be an exercise.

"Go talk to them, dumbass," the voice made him jump, turning to see Shinso standing beside him, "You've been staring at them for the last five minutes. Just go beg for their forgiveness or whatever you want to do."

"I don't want to beg…" Izuku started, before giving a soft smile, turning away from the purple-haired teen, "Right, thanks Shinso."

"Whatever," he replied as Izuku headed towards the four girls, giving a weak wave as he spoke, Ochako and Tsuyu smiling happily at him.

"Next groups are… Shoji, Kirine and Kotoro versus…Todoroki, Aoyama and Ojiro," Aizawa called, the two teams filing out, "UHC on the roof this time."

"Mido! Analysis if you please!" Mina cried as she jumped onto the Vampire's shoulders, pointing at the screens.

"What?" he said, looking at her in confusion.

"She would like you to explain the quirks of the UHC students currently taking part in the exercise," Yaoyorozu said, walking up beside him, "Or I can do it if you wish. The others don't mind."

"Oh, okay then," Izuku grinned as he pulled out a notebook, flipping expertly through the pages as he read, "Kotoro-san's quirk is incredible, though not very good for combat. It's called Small Detail Detection and allows him to notice a vast amount of incredibly small details about any scene he can look at for at least a minute. The longer he looks, the more details he sees."

"Oh wow, that sounds amazing for a cop!" Kaminari hummed, "Why's he in a Hero course then? Shouldn't he be at a police academy or something?"

"Kotoro has just as much potential as any of you, as do all the UHC students," Aizawa growled suddenly, "Both Principal Nedzu and I interviewed all the potential Gen Ed candidates. He was a shoo-in from the start."

"Oh, wow!" Kirishima laughed, "That's super manly!"

"And the other one?" Mina asked, watching as the buzzer sounded, Todoroki already stepping forwards to freeze the entire building, "What's her quirk do?"

"Blooming Limbs," Izuku said as the six arms erupted in a shower of petals from Todoroki's back, wrapping around him and pinning his arms to his sides as he stumbled forwards, another pair of arms wrapping around his ankles from the floor, "She can make copies of her limbs sprout from any surface in her line of sight."

"She's not too good at controlling them yet, though," a voice said, several of the students jumping as they looked around, before the boy in the trench coat and blank mask called out again, "Over here. Sorry, my quirk blocks perception. If I concentrate, I can make it less or more effective for a bit, but otherwise it's pretty hard to notice me."

"Oh! That's cool!" Kaminari said, "I'm Denki Kaminari, what's your name?"

"Kusho Chikaku," the boy said, removing his mask to reveal the most generic face any of them had ever seen, "My quirk is called "Somebody Else's Problem". Ask the doctor that named it why."

"See!" Hagakure shouted as Kaminari shook his hand, "It's not invisibility! We're different!"

"Woah, looks like Todoroki got free!" Sero called as the classes turned back to the screens, staring at the frozen building, Ojiro and Aoyama holding the limbs back as Todoroki touched the wall of the building with his right hand, "Damn, looks like repeat of the first exercise. Todoroki's just too strong."

It took a few minutes for the 1-A team to make it to the roof with the mannequin, Aoyama letting out a bright burst of light from his Navel Laser, forcing the other team to look away as Ojiro shot out with the mannequin held securely in his tail, depositing it in the drop-off zone a moment later.

"Wow, that has to suck," Sero sighed as they watched Todoroki free the other team from the ice, Tokoyami nodding beside him "I know how that feels."

"Next is…Yaoyorozu, Rokko and Chikaku, "Aizawa said as the two teams walked in a few minutes later, talking amiably amongst themselves, "Against…Bakugo, Sato and Iida. UHC on the ground again. Go"

1-A took a sharp breath as they looked over at Bakugo, the blond just scowling as he looked over at Yaoyorozu, giving a nod before he headed out.

"Woah," Kirishima gasped, "Did…did Baku-bro just acknowledge Yaoyorozu?"

"So, we have High-class, the unnoticeable bastard and an unknown," Bakugo growled as he leaned over the edge of the building, staring down at the three below as they talked, "If we play this wrong, we're fucked."

"Woah, sounds weird to hear you say that," Sato said, "Aren't you all about winning?"

"Yeah, and I fucking plan to," Bakugo shouted back, "But High-class has a fucking strong quirk and is smart as hell. Plus, they've all been training in this sneaking bullshit, so if we mess around, we're fucked."

"Right," Iida said as he chopped his hands through the air, "Yaoyorozu is one of the recommendation students, and she was chosen for this special program by the Principal-."

"I don't give a fuck about any of that!" Bakugo spat, cutting Iida off, "We're just going to win! Now here's the fucking plan!"

"Everyone ready?" Momo asked as the two other members of her team nodded, Rokko handing a handful of objects to Chikaku.

"So, who do you think'll win this one?" Mina asked.

"Yaomomo's team," Jiro said, "They've got two prep fighters. Even with only five minutes those two can create a devastating plan."

"Prep fighters?" Ochako asked Izuku as the teen paged through his notebook.

"Both Yaoyorozu's Creation and Rokko-san's Imbue take time to use," he explained, "So they work best when given time to prepare. They're especially good when they know their opponents."

"Exactly," Jiro said, "Which is why Yaomomo is going to win."

"I wouldn't count Kacchan out just yet," Izuku laughed, "He's smarter than you'd think."

"Yeah, but Rokko's Imbue plus Yaomomo's Creation!" Jiro scoffed, scowling slightly at Izuku, "They're basically unstoppable!"

"What is Imbue?!" Ochako almost shouted over the top of the arguing teens, making them jump, "How does it work?"

"Oh, Rokko-san can imbue certain "qualities" onto an item by holding it in their hand for around ten seconds," Izuku explained, "The longer they hold it, the more powerful the quality."

"And what are these qualities, kero?" Tsuyu asked.

"Oh, things like sharpness and the ability to glow," Izuku said, looking up at the screens as the exercise started, "Though the strongest by far is probably…"

The object shot past Bakugo's face so fast he couldn't even see it, turning to look at the throwing knife that was embedded in the wall just behind him. A second appeared a moment later, the teen feeling the burning sensation of a cut on his bicep. He leapt back out of the corridor, glaring at Sato and Iida.

"It's probably the unnoticeable bastard!" he growled, "He's throwing knives. You two go around, I'll handle him!"

"But Bakugo-," Iida started, the blond already turning away.

"I said GO!"

Kusho Chikaku walked quietly down the hallway he was guarding, listening to the blond shout at the other two. He'd been warned by Yaoyorozu about him. His quirk was called Explosive or something, and allowed him to make explosions in his hands, so as long as Kusho stayed away, he would be safe. He stopped as he saw the blond jump out again, hands raised as he pointed them down the hallway.

"FLASHBANG!" he shouted, Kusho blinking as he thanked whoever had made the high-tech mask he was wearing, the light filter just barely managing to counter act the bright flash of light that filled the hallway as he ducked into a side room, "SMOKESCREEN!"

Kusho peeked out of the door as the small explosions filled Bakugo's palms, smoke pouring from them and filling the hallway. He just managed to stop himself laughing, the filter in his mask keeping him from coughing as he started to walk closer to the blond and unleash another barrage of Yaoyorozu and Roko's Quickened throwing knives. He blinked as Bakugo suddenly leapt through the air, straight towards him.

"Gotcha, you bastard!" the blond cried as Kusho jumped back, Bakugo swiping almost exactly where he had been, "Quit running and go down!"

How the hell was he able to notice me? Kusho thought as he back-pedalled, more smoke filling the air as Bakugo continued to fire off the tiny explosions in his palms. Kusho let his quirk rise slightly, feeling the familiar tingle of the migraine that would hit him if he overused it already brewing in the back of his skull. Bakugo slammed a punch into his stomach, knocking Kusho back as the blond jumped on top of him, searching around for a moment before he managed to grab him by the wrists, pulling them up and tying them together with the capture tape.

"How'd you notice me?" Kusho asked as he pushed his quirk down a bit, Bakugo blinking at him as if seeing him for the first time, "Figure I should learn something out of this, at least."

"The fucking smoke," the blond spat as he got off of Kusho, grabbing him by the collar and yanking him to his feet, "Your quirk only works on you and your clothes. I watched how the fucking smoke moved."

"Oh, damn," Kusho laughed, "Good to know, man. Thanks."

"1-A wins," Aizawa called through their earpieces, "Get back here already."

"How'd we lose?" Kusho asked as the two groups entered the viewing room.

"Sorry, I expected Bakugo to come first, so our traps were focused mainly on him," Yaoyorozu sighed, "We weren't expecting Sato and Iida to just break through them after grabbing the mannequin."

"You still did extremely well!" Iida complimented the girl, "I was completely caught up in that last trap and Sato had to take the mannequin outside alone!"

"Sorry I was so slow, Yaoyorozu-sama," Rokko apologised, her speech still slowed as she seemed to struggle to keep up with them, "I guess I made too many fast knives. I couldn't react in time."

"It's quite alright, Rokko-san," Yaoyorozu laughed, "We still make an excellent team!"

"You're back? Good," Aizawa sighed as the students rejoined the group, "Next is Jiro, Vesper and Jiko versus Kirishima, Tokoyami and Kaminari. UHC on the roof again."

The match was over surprisingly quickly, the 1-A team being knocked out almost instantly by a combination of Jiro and Vesper's sonic attacks, Jiko pressing his hands to their backs as they blasted the entire building with sound.

"Vesper-san is a bat-morph mutant," Izuku explained, "She can do all the things a bat can do, including emit ultra-sonic waves. Jiko-san's quirk allows him to absorb any type of "positive" energy, such as kinetic, heat or electricity, and release it as a kinetic blast from anywhere on his body. Otherwise, he can channel that energy into others to enhance the force of their own attacks."

"Damn," Mina hummed as the UHC team casually walked out of the building with the mannequin, Jiko easily lifting the 1-A team onto the stretchers held by the medic bots, "And I thought Yaomomo and Rokko's quirks were a good combo!"

"Last two teams are Hagakure, Mizutoko and Kagaro versus Sero, Ashido and Mineta," Aizawa barked as the UHC team entered the room, the other three already being carried off by the medic bots, "UHC on the ground again."

"Wow, a capture versus control team," Izuku muttered as he scrawled in his notebook, "This should be interesting. Especially with the wild cards."

"What do you mean "capture versus control"?" Iida asked.

"Well, Mizutoko-san's quirk allows him to control a person's body by manipulating the water inside it, and Kagaro-san can sing songs that affect a person's emotions," Izuku explained, "With Hagakure acting as a scout, they have a good chance of winning. However, with Mina, Sero and Mineta having the high ground, they also have a serious advantage."

"Yeah, well you fuckers better hope you win," Bakugo growled, "Otherwise you won't get to go to the Provisional License exam."

"What are you talking about, Bakugo?" Iida asked, a look of confusion on his face.

"We're tied. Two matches to 1-A, two to the UHC," the blond spat, "They lose, they probably ain't going."

The UHC students looked amongst themselves worriedly, Vesper stepping forwards.

"B-but Midoriya-senpai and the others will still get to go with class 1-A, right?" she asked Aizawa, the man raising an eyebrow.

"Maybe," he grunted, turning away to watch the screen, the students all looking at each other in worry now.

The buzzer sounded, Mizutoko, Kagaro and Hagakure running for the door. Suddenly a literal wall of tape descended from the roof, slapping over the doorway, and blocking their main method of entry. They barely had time to look around for another way in before a rain of purple balls fell on them, trapping them in place, looking up to see Mineta shrieking as blood dripped down his forehead. A stream of tape slammed into Mizutoko's chest, knocking him back onto a collection of balls, pinning him to the ground.

A few minutes later, the tape over the door, and the door itself, began to melt, Mina's pink arm sticking through the hole as she cleared the way. Kagaro opened her mouth to sing, silenced by a stream of tape that shot out of a window on the third floor and covered her mouth. Defeated, the UHC team could only watch as Sero lowered the mannequin from the window onto the drop-off point, Aizawa calling their loss a moment later.

The two teams headed back, the UHC kids picking as the partially melted bits of purple ball that were still stuck to their costumes even as Mina assured them that they'd fall off after a day. They fell silent as they entered the room, sensing the dark emotions that sat in the air like a fog.

"What happened?" Mina asked, looking around in confusion.

"The UHC team fucking lost," Bakugo growled, "Now they aren't going to the Provisional License exam."

"Oh!" she replied, looking back at the stunned students they'd just faced, "S-sorry!"

"There's nothing to be sorry for," Mizutoko said, "We came in expecting to face tough competition. We did and lost. We'll try again at the next Exam."

"Why?" Aizawa asked, stepping up beside the three, "Are you planning on failing this one?"

"W-what?" the UHC students asked in unison, Shinso stepping forwards, a slight smile on his face, "You mean…?"

"I never explicitly said that you wouldn't get to go if you lost, just that you needed to show me what you could do for the opportunity to go," the teacher said, "Now, UHC only students, go rest up. You're repeating this exercise this afternoon with class B. 1-A students, you're doing more quirk training with Cementos and Ectoplasm in the TKL. Go get ready for that."

"Yes Sensei!" both classes shouted as they hurried out of the room.

"Wow, so you can create a field of Influence now?" Ochako asked as Izuku sat cross-legged on the ground, seemingly meditating.

"Yeah, but I haven't managed to get it to spread more than about two meters yet," the teen muttered, "Feeling anything?"

"Nope," Ochako replied as she sat on a bench three meters away, resting for a moment.

"Uraraka," one of the Ectoplasm clones called, "That's enough rest, it's time to come back!"

"Yes, Sensei!" the girl called as she hopped up, walking past Izuku and gasping slightly at the feeling of calm that tingled through her, glancing at the boy as she passed, "Wow."

"Thanks," he muttered, brow furrowing as he seemed to concentrate harder, "Anything Sensei?"

"No," his own Ectoplasm clone said, "Still nothing. Don't try to force it, you need to clear your head to do this, don't you?"

"Yes, Sensei," the teen replied.

"Then maybe here isn't the best place to practice," the clone hummed, looking up at the other teens, many of whom were shouting or making noise as they worked on their quirks.

"No, it's perfect," Izuku said as he relaxed, blinking as he looked at the slightly perplexed clone, "I need to be able to do this in stressful and noisy places. Imagine how useful it'll be to have an aura of calm around me in a disaster? Victims will be calmer just being near me!"

"True," the clone said, turning back to Izuku, "Well then, best get practicing."

A dozen voices screamed in his mind, Izuku staring up at the mass of writhing flesh above him. Hands reaching blindly from the twisted body as faces screamed into the darkness. No matter what he tried, the teen couldn't pull his eyes away from the horrifying monstrosity. The first drop of blood fell from the mass, landing on his cheek, a flash of something passing through Izuku's mind.

"Jei-chan!"

An unfamiliar voice. An unknown name. A memory not his own.

Izuku woke up, his body and sheets soaked in cold sweat as he gasped for air. He didn't know why he'd woken up, only that it was important. Something in a dream perhaps? He couldn't remember. He couldn't remember anything.
