I have decided to put out Chapter 15 today, and Chapter 16 on Friday. This is partially because I'm impatient, and partially as a thank you for everyone who has supported and commented and stuff. Feel free to give suggestions as to where you would like the story to go from here, as I'm planning some restructuring to my original plans.
I just want to say thank you to Critical_Warrior for helping with the Izuku scene. Creepy/horror stuff isn't my strong suit, but they helped me figure out what to write.
For other people...My Discord is on my profile if you guys want to send me heartfelt messages of encouragement, ask for writing advice, or just shout at me about things. I may be putting together a Discord server as well, though it will be invite only for now.
The students chatted as they stood outside the three buses, waiting for their teachers to arrive. Izuku glanced over at Bakugo, the blond seeming to be having a conversation with Kirishima and Kaminari. Mina and Sero joined their group as the red head said something that made them all laugh, Bakugo growling as his hands flexed, though no explosions danced across his palms. Izuku smiled to himself, turning back to the conversation with his own friends.
"Your quirk is very impressive," Iida said enthusiastically to the short girl standing with their group, her large bat-like ears swivelling as she chewed on a nutrient bar, "I am surprised you didn't make it into the Hero course, Vesper-san!"
"Oh, uhm…I didn't get enough points in the entrance exam," the bat-like girl laughed shyly as she stuffed the rest of the bar into her mouth, "I wasn't really much of a fighter."
"That's understandable, kero," Tsuyu said, staring at the second bar the girl had pulled out, licking her lips, "Those smell tasty."
"Oh! W-would you like one?" Vesper asked, jumping slightly as Tsuyu nodded, handing it over to the frog quirked girl, who broke it in half, handing the other half to Ochako, who bit into it happily, "I…uhm…I sort of have to eat regularly or I'll fall asleep. It's a drawback of my quirk. Oh, it's mostly derived from bugs! Sorry!"
"Oh," the two girls said in unison, both looking at the bar's in their hands, Ochako turning slightly green as Tsuyu just took another bite, saying, "Tastes fine to me."
"Alright students!" they heard Vlad King shout as they saw him, Aizawa and Midnight approaching the group, "Get into your classes and get ready to board the buses!"
"Well, good luck," Izuku smiled at Vesper as he turned to join 1-A, a hand landing on his shoulder stopping him a moment later.
"Not so fast, Midoriya," Aizawa-sensei said, the three classes looking at him in surprise, "UHC students are on that bus. All twenty of them."
Izuku sat awkwardly in his seat at the front of the bus beside the class B student, Shihai Kuroiro playing with a lock of his silver hair as the bus started up. Closing his eyes, Izuku began his breathing exercises to keep calm as the smell of his classmates' blood began to fill the small space. He'd had the opportunity over the last week to get to know most of them, but the smell of new blood still made his quirk act up more than usual. Izuku jumped slightly when he felt the elbow gently poke him in the ribs, opening his eyes to see Kuroiro looking at him almost expectantly.
"Y-yes? Can I help you, Kuroiro-san?" Izuku asked, the black-skinned teen looking away with an embarrassed expression.
"Uhm…I was just wondering…" he said, his voice low as he spoke, "You and…those girls…Uraraka and Asui, right?"
"Ochako and Tsu? What about them?" Izuku replied, unsure of where the conversation was going.
"You're all like…dating, right?" Kuroiro said, looking at Izuku with hope in his eyes, "How'd you do it? Ask them I mean!"
Izuku smiled lightly as he stared at the other boy in shock, his brain short circuiting for a moment. He let out a loud shriek as his head went bright red, his arms wrapping around his face as he hid behind them.
"I-I-I-I have no idea what you mean!" Izuku stammered, "We're not dating! Not really!"
"Dating?" a familiar voice called from the seat behind them, Setsuna Tokage's head suddenly floating over the back of their seats and hovering in front of them with a sharp-toothed grin, "Who's dating?"
"No one!" Both teens said in unison, Kuroiro's cheeks somehow seeming to get darker as he looked away.
"No way! Is this about your crush on Kinoko, Kuroiro?" Setsuna cackled as her head bobbed through the air, the boy letting out a quiet howl, "Oh come on, it's pretty obvious. I think the only people that didn't know are Monoma and Kinoko herself!"
"I knew!" a familiar nasally voice shouted from the back of the bus, Monoma jumping up as the perpetually worried looking Nirengeki Shoda tried to calm him down, "I definitely knew!"
A white board popped up over the top of the seats, the white-haired holder tapping it with her marker to get their attention, the words "Which one was Kinoko?" written on it in clear handwriting.
"I think she was the one with the horns," Jiro said from beside Kirine, the white-haired girl giving her an unsure look.
"Nah," Setsuna laughed, "That's Pony, Kinoko Komori is the mushroom girl!"
"Oh, she's cute!" someone else called out, Kuroiro suddenly twisting around to stare at Jiko in shock, as the heterochromatic youth gave him a friendly grin over the seats, "Woah, chill dude. I'm not going to take her from you, promise."
Setsuna continued to cackle as her head bobbed in front of Kuroiro, the black-skinned teen trying to hide his face in his hands as he blushed even harder. Izuku felt kind of bad for him but was glad that the conversation hadn't turned back to him.
"What about Midoriya? Isn't he dating two girls?" Izuku froze, his head turning mechanically to look at Kai Nyanyo, sitting in one of the seats across the aisle from Izuku, a shit-eating grin on his face as Setsuna shifted her sights onto the blushing Vampire.
"That's right!" Setsuna gasped happily, her head doing a flip through the air to come landing down in Izuku's lap, making him whimper slightly, "What's up with that?"
"We're not dating!" he repeated, fighting back his neon blush, "N-not yet at least. We all…have things to sort out first. So, we decided to put any relationship stuff on hold."
"Aw, lame!" Setsuna sighed as her head floated back up and over the chairs, reattaching itself to her body, "And I thought Vampires were supposed to have like, a bunch of ladies."
"He calls them his "Brides"," Jiro chuckled, Izuku blanching as Setsuna's head popped off again, her grin even wider.
"You WHAT?!" she shrieked happily as she floated in front of him again, "Spill it, blood boy! What's up with that?!"
"ENOUGH!" the shout startled all of them, the bus looking up at Midnight as she glared back at them, a hand poised to rip her costume, "Be quiet or so help me I will knock out everyone on this bus!"
"But wouldn't that include the driver?" Chikaku asked from his seat beside Nyanyo, the teacher jumping slightly as she noticed him.
"E-exactly!" Midnight growled as she regained her composure, "Now sit down, the lot of you! And no quirks!"
The students nodded as they settled down, their quiet murmuring quickly turning back into loud chatter. Midnight huffed as she sat back in her own seat, rubbing her temples as she muttered to herself.
"How the hell do you put up with this, Eraser?"
Across the city, in a similar bus, Shota Aizawa readjusted the noise-cancelling headphones Hizashi had gotten for him last Christmas, hidden beneath the bright yellow sleeping back, as he napped on the front seat of the bus, his students none the wiser as they shouted and messed around.
"Please stay seated!" Iida shouted as he chopped at the air, "I know that losing several of our classmates may have interrupted the seating plan, but that is no excuse to move seats!"
"You're the only one standing right now," Mineta shouted as Iida suddenly sagged, sitting back down rigidly in his seat before continuing to shout.
"I wonder how Izuku is doing," Ochako sighed as she looked at the empty seat beside their class representative, "I hope they pass."
"I'm sure Izuku will be fine, kero," Tsuyu said calmly as she took Ochako's hands in hers, squeezing them gently, "He's strong and smart, so he'll definitely pass."
"Gushing over your boyfriend again?" Mina laughed as she leaned over from the seat behind them, "You two really do like him, don'tcha?"
"I-I-I-I have no idea what you mean!" Ochako squeaked, her face turning pink, "We're just friends right now!"
"And it's that "right now" that I'm interested in," the pink-skinned girl chuckled, "What are you going to do after Mido sorts out his…what was it? Quirk problems?"
"Probably start dating, kero," Tsuyu replied simply, "Ochako goes first, of course."
"Of course," Mina nodded sagely as the brunette looked between them in confusion.
"What do you mean "Of course"? What am I missing here?" she asked.
"You're the First Bride," Tsuyu replied, reaching into her bag and pulling out an energy bar, biting into it, breaking off a piece and giving it to Mina when the girl asked, "So of course you go first."
"F-f-first Bride?!" Ochako squeaked, her head turning red as she slapped her hands to her cheeks, both girls grabbing her to stop her from floating off her seat, "B-b-but…!"
"But nothing," Mina chuckled, "You deserve it Raka. Mido's a good guy, and you obviously like each other. Trust me, I'm an expert on this kind of thing!"
"Oh, and how many boyfriends have you had, kero?" Tsuyu asked, Mina faltering for a moment.
"N-none," she admitted, before perking up, "But I've been on a few of dates!"
"Ooh! This sounds tres interessant!" Aoyama chimed as he leant over from his seat, "Do share, mademoiselle!"
The UHC class filed off the bus after it pulled up to the stadium, the students looking around in amazement at the crowds of fellow License hopefuls that milled around.
"Alright," Midnight sighed as she rubbed her eyes, thankful for the headache medication she always carried, "Now that we're finally here, is everyone ready?"
The class looked at each other nervously, the woman scowling at them for a moment.
"Oh, come on!" she shouted, "Where's your youthful energy! Let's do the school motto to hype you all up!"
The group mumbled, gathering around the teacher as she pumped a fist into the air.
"Ready?" Midnight asked, a wide smile on her face as she led the cheer, "Go Beyond! PLUS ULTRA!"
The group shouted loudly, smiles forming on their faces as they repeated the cheer again, Midnight grinning as she pumped her arm into the air. Izuku looked around as they gathered, noticing the strange looks on the faces of the other license hopefuls. Many were staring at them, whispering to each other as they did, the Vampire focusing his hearing on the closest.
"No way, it's really UA." "I thought they weren't gonna be coming to this venue." "We get to take part in the UA crush this year, score!"
"Huh?" Izuku hummed, turning as Jiro and Vesper both looked at him, "You heard that too?"
"Yeah," Jiro hummed, turning to Midnight, "Hey Sensei, what's the "UA Crush"?"
"Oh yeah, Vlad King-sensei told us about it," Setsuna laughed, "Cause everybody usually knows about our quirks from the Sports Festival, a lot of schools like to try crush any UA students as quickly as possible!"
"That sounds horrible!" Vesper gasped, "We'll be destroyed!"
"Nah," Setsuna laughed, "Most of the UHC are unknowns, and us 1-B students didn't get too far. It's the 1-A guys that're going to have the hardest time of it!"
"Real encouraging," Jiro sighed as she walked past, shouldering Setsuna gently as Kagaro walked close beside her eyes closed as she seemed to be listening to something, "You hear that Green? You're probably screwed!"
"Oh," Izuku muttered, looking down at the ground, "I mean, I did get to the final round and show off a lot of my powers, but I've also gained and enhanced several of them…"
The class chuckled as he descended into a mutter storm, watching as he walked blindly ahead of them, almost bumping into someone.
"Oh, sorry!" he said as the slightly older teen turned to look at him, "I wasn't watching where I was going!"
"Huh, so UA really is here," the boy laughed, holding out a hand, "Nice to meet you, I'm-."
"Lying," a voice said as Izuku was pulled back, noticing Chikaku at the last moment as his classmate gripped his shoulder, "And pretty badly at that. It's all over your face."
"Huh? Where the hell did you come from?" the other boy asked, blinking as he seemed to try focusing on the brown-haired teen.
"Nowhere," Chikaku chuckled, pulling Izuku back to the group, "Watch yourself, Midoriya-san. Everyone here is eyeing us like a pack of hungry wolves."
"Oh," Izuku replied, blinking suddenly, "T-thanks, Chikaku-san."
Chikaku just grinned as he slipped back into the group of UA students, Izuku blinking as who he was talking to seemed to slip his mind.
"Alright!" the Procter for the Provisional License Exam shouted energetically as she jumped around behind her podium, "Let's get this party started!"
The room cheered as she grinned down at them, giving a thumbs up.
"My name is Haipa Takusan, and my quirk is 'Hyperactive'! It gives me plenty of energy to help you all do the best that you can on your exam! I have a fellow Procter who really wishes he had it! Now, let me explain the rules! It's kind of like a game of tag! You'll need to score five points in order to pass, so…"
Izuku clenched his fists as the woman explained the rules, only half listening as he desperately fought against the feeling of the mass of bodies pressing in around him. He could do it. Only a few minutes more. Then they'd be let out into the field and-.
"Unfortunately, due to various things happening in society recently, it has been decided that the maximum number of students being allowed to proceed to the next round will only be one hundred!"
"What?!" "But there are over a thousand five hundred of us here!" "That's less than one-tenth!"
"Yeah, it sucks, I know!" the woman sighed, "But the Hero Commission wants to go for quality over quantity! So, do your best! We'll start handing out the ball bags and targets now!"
The UHC students gathered together on the edge of the room as Izuku leaned against the wall, the ball bag secured to his belt as he breathed slowly, Yaoyorozu watching him worriedly as the rest of the room seemed to move away from them.
"Are you sure you're okay, Midoriya-san?" she asked, "Do you need more blood or…"
"I'm fine. It's just crowded. Will be better when we get out," he managed to say between breaths, clenching his hands as the rest of the class looked around worriedly.
"OKAY!" the Procter shouted, "Time to open up!"
"Open up?" Mizutoko muttered, the class jumping as the entire hall they were standing in suddenly began to come apart, the walls and ceiling falling away to reveal that they had been standing in the middle of the test field the entire time.
"This is the standardized test field! We worked really hard on it, so use it well!" the Procter shouted, "Get ready! And start!"
Chaos ensued.
"You didn't tell them?" Miss Joke asked as Aizawa stared down at the field, his eyes fixed on the group of fourteen students gathered in the center of the test field, the wave of thrown balls descending on them, "I know you can be harsh, but this may a little too far, Eraser!"
"It's not like I didn't tell them on purpose," Aizawa hummed as the massive explosion sent shockwaves through the air, the few balls that got past the massive blast being easily countered and deflected by the other UA students, "It changes nothing about what they have to do."
"Still, to think you'd fail that Vampire kid," Miss Joke hummed, before snorting in laughter, "What'd he do? Bite you?"
"Who said I failed him?"
They were surrounded. That was the only way to describe their current position, the UHC students having been ganged up on almost as soon as the Procter had shouted "Start". Izuku sighed, thankful that the oppressive weight of the packed room had finally fallen, quite literally, away. He looked up at the rest of his class, the other students glancing between themselves, and nodded.
"Everyone know their teams?" he asked, a single decisive nod from each making him smile, "Then let's do this!"
Boturo Uzuchiha grinned as he watched the group of UA students looking at each other nervously. Every school had had the same thought as soon as they had realized that there would be UA students here. Surround and crush them before the exam could even properly start. He blinked as every student in the group of twenty first years seemed to nod as one, easily shifting into smaller groups, the Vampire kid who'd bad mouthed Endeavor during the Sports Festival turning to grin in their direction. Boturo shivered at that smile. And then the world was upside down.
Izuku barreled through the thinnest part of the surrounding crowd, throwing anyone in his way to the side as the world slowly returned to normal speed. The sounds hit him all at once as his Celerity ran out, the screams and shouts of surprise of the students he'd flung into the air, and the shouts of determination of his classmates behind him. They slammed into the last of the other students blocking their path, smashing out of the ambush, and scattering in their groups to the various different areas of the exam venue, several other schools already splitting off to chase after them. Izuku smiled as he pulled the scarf of his costume up over his nose, his body dissolving into ash as the hail of balls descended on him.
It was time for the hunt to begin.
"Magus! Vantablack! Get ready to blackout!" Yaoyorozu shouted as the four students ran towards the skyscraper area, her skin glowing as her quirk activated, dropping strange metal balls behind her.
A group of examines dashed up behind them, passing one of the balls, which let out a loud beep, catching their attention before it exploded in a cloud of foam, knocking them aside. Several more explosions could be heard echoing behind the four of them as they darted to the side, Rokko holding out her hands as Kuroiro jumped towards her.
"Imbue Area!" Rokko said as the group skidded into the foyer of a building, the shadows already spilling from her hands as Kuroiro reached out and touched them, his body sliding into the blackness, "Air Enchant: Shadow!"
The black air swirled as it darkened, then shot out from Rokko's hands, engulfing the foyer in a matter of seconds, not even the glow of Creati's quirk shining through the gloom.
"The hell was that for?" the student shouted, staring at their friend who had just punched them in the face.
They were gathered just outside a cave in the mountainous zone, having followed a group of UA students there, hoping to be the ones to crush them.
"What? I didn't do it! My arm moved on its own!"
"Bullshit! You've always had it out for me!" the first shouted, before jumping on the second, "I'll show you!"
"Hey, quit fighting!"
"Let 'em! Less competition for us!"
"Screw you!"
"No, screw you!"
The soft singing echoed around the group of squabbling teens as several seemed to throw punches or kicks against their wills, a hand reaching out and slapping someone from another person's back occasionally, the group quickly descending into chaos. The song suddenly grew louder, the tune changing as the other students continued to fight, slowing as they began to yawn, before all of them collapsed to the ground, asleep.
Mizutoko, Kirine, Kagaro and Yanagi all stepped out of their hiding places and walked calmly towards the unconscious students, balls in hand.
"You're going down big guy!" one of the examines shouted as Shoji darted through the woods, arms flailing as he knocked branches out of his way, leaving a clear trail behind him.
"Depends," Shoji laughed as he entered a clearing, a mouth forming on one of his tentacles, skidding to a stop as the group jumped out after him, "You and what army?"
"What army?" the apparent leader laughed as he stepped forwards, "Why, this one!"
The cone of sound slammed into them, the other students screaming for a moment before their eyes rolled back in their heads and they fell to the ground, unconscious.
"What the hell?" the leader muttered as he looked back, shivering as the large shadow loomed over him.
"Ambushes are a real danger, you know," the mouth grinned on the end of the limb as it spoke.
"Oi! Dick heads!"
"What'd you-?" half the group shouted, their eyes going blank a moment later as the strolled out from behind a rock.
"Wow, and you thought you could take on UA with just this?" most of the rest turned and shouted at the purple-haired teen who walked out behind them, their own eyes going blank, the last few looking around in confusion.
"All right," Shinso called as Monoma shook his head, both trying to hide the slightly pained looks on their faces as best they could, "We'll be nice and let the rest of you guys leave."
"Hey!" "Screw you!" several more shouts came, the last of the students falling under Shinso's brainwashing as he gave a quiet hiss behind his mask.
"You really need to increase the number of people you can control more," Kotaro said as he stepped out from behind a pillar, "How's the headache tablets I gave you two working?"
"Decently," Shinso sighed as he tapped his ball against the frozen examines, the others joining him.
"Sucks that I didn't get to do anything," Setsuna sighed as her targets lit up, "Oh well, free ride."
"You can say that when your quirk couldn't have at least been useful," Kotaro sighed, "But good job everyone."
After a few minutes, the four UA students walked out calmly of the building, their targets lit up and telling them to head towards the Anteroom.
Bakugo growled at the girl standing in front of them, a mischievous smile on her pursed lips.
"Hi," she said casually, "How do you do?"
"You're one of those Shiketsu bastards," Bakugo spat, "Come to take revenge for you classmate or some shit?"
"Hmm?" the girl asked, looking behind them at the unconscious Mincemeat quirk user, the other Provisional License hopefuls that he had captured lying unconscious around him, their targets lit up red, "Oh, no. I don't really care about him. I'm more interested in you!"
"Woah, Bakugo," Kaminari gasped, elbowing the blond slightly, "You got a real hottie after you!"
"Shut it, Sparkplug!" Bakugo barked, still glaring at the girl, "What the fuck are you after? We already claimed the lot of these guys and passed, so you can't do jack shit against us!"
"Oh, I just wanted to talk," the girl said coquettishly, biting a finger as she half closed her eyes at Bakugo, "Preferably alone."
"Dude!" Kaminari gasped again, Bakugo hitting him in the back of the head as he stalked past the girl.
"Shut up and fuck off, in either order," he growled as he passed her, his voice dropping, "You're just after that fuck Deku, aren't you? Well, he isn't here, so fuck off."
The girl twitched as he spoke, turning to watch him go as the other two ran past her after him.
"Well," she muttered to herself, biting a nail, "Shit."
"We have them trapped!" one of the students shouted as the group ran into the building in the metropolitan area of the exam and stopped.
The room was pitch black, no light anywhere for them to see by, not even shadows as they blinked at the sudden loss of their sight.
"What the he-!"one of them shouted, suddenly vanishing as they were swallowed up by the darkness.
"Oh shit!" another yelled, getting cut off as something slammed into the back of their head, knocking them out, "Get out of he-!"
Screams and shouts echoed out of the darkness for a few minutes, other examinees stopping for a moment to stare, before hurrying on, not wanting to be part pf whatever was happening. Of the twenty people who entered the building, two managed to crawl out, their costumes seeming to press heavily on them as a person followed them out, Rokko's hands pressed to the backs of the two struggling students, a bright smile on their face as they brushed white hair out of their face.
"Sorry!" Rokko chimed happily as they touched the two's targets with a ball, "But we win!"
"Magus," Yaoyorozu called as the rest of their group exited the darkened building, "You can release your quirk now."
"Right, right!" they said happily, blinking as their eyes shimmered with color, before returning to their normal pure black.
Inside the building, the darkness vanished, revealing a series of traps and devices spread across the floor, Kuroiro emerging from the shadows as they faded, Shoda helping him as the black-skinned teen stumbled slightly.
"You okay, Vantablack?" Shoda asked.
"I'm good, Mines," Kuroiro said as he stood up, "It still just feels a bit weird to control the air like that."
"Must be!" Tooru shouted as she pulled her gloves and shoes back on, even as her targets lit up and announced that she had passed.
"Have a taste of our Special Combo Move: Ultra-Sonic Canon," Jiko laughed.
He had his hands placed on Jiro and Vesper's backs, the two releasing a cone of sonic energy that quickly knocked the group that had run into the clearing in the forest they were in unconscious. Behind them, Shoji scanned the surrounding forest with his duplicated ears, pointing them in the direction of the next group of attackers.
"I almost feel bad for them," Jiro muttered as she adjusted her footing to point the speakers on her boots towards the next group, "But hey, what do you expect? You come after us, we defend ourselves!"
Kai growled as he unconsciously licked the covers on his claws, scowling at the lack of blood as he remembered he'd been forced to wear the damn things to prevent him from "accidentally" maiming someone. The thirty or so students who had thought it was a good idea to go after the lone monster lay all around him, many badly injured, with broken limbs or faces, and all unconscious. A few let out pained groans occasionally, sending a shiver of pleasure up Kai's back.
"Please head towards the Anteroom," one of the annoying targets on his chest droned for what felt like the hundredth time, interrupting Kai's enjoyment of others pain, the cat-like teen jumping to his feet as he decided he might as well listen. This time.
Kusho yawned as he sat in a quiet corner of the Anteroom. He'd been the first person, both from his class and in general, to pass the exam, simply walking up behind a few people who had been busy planning their strategy and touching their targets while they hadn't noticed him. He'd left them confused and frustrated as he walked off. It had taken almost ten minutes, but now the room was quickly filling up, almost all the rest of their class having joined him, not that they'd noticed his presence until he'd already started talking.
The only members left are Midoriya and Nyanyo, he thought, watching as the cat-like teen walked in, Okay, only Midoriya. I wonder where he is.
Boturo scowled as he and four of his classmates chased after the ash cloud, occasionally unleashing one of their quirks at it. Even so, the damn thing seemed impossible to hit, always swooping out of the way just in time to avoid a hit. They had decided that it would be easier to go for one of the lone UA students, chasing after the Vampire kid because they knew the most about his powers. The problem was that he'd obviously gotten stronger. Way stronger than they'd expected. Boturo was beginning to think that this was a bad idea.
"He's coming down!" one of his classmates shouted, Boturo looking up at the cloud of ash as it weaved through the air, before diving down towards what looked like a large warehouse. He blinked as the figure formed from the ash, giving them a nod before stepping backwards through the door.
"Oh, now he's just taunting us," another of his classmates growled, running ahead of the group, "Come on, let's kick his ass!"
They entered the building, looking around as they realized that it was actually full of twisting hallways, closed doors lining the walls as they stepped into the deepening shadows.
"Hey guys," Boturo said as he followed the group down the hall, looking around as his eyes slowly adjusted to the gloom, shivering as the loud sounds of combat from outside suddenly became strangely muted, "I'm not sure this is the best idea."
"What's wrong, Uzuchiha?" one of the other guys teased, "It was your idea to go after this guy. Getting spooked by the big bad "monster" already?"
"No, it's just-," he was cut off as the boy who'd just spoken to him suddenly vanished.
"What the fuck?" someone said, before a sudden scream from down the hallway making the entire class spin and stare into the inky blackness. It was cut off almost instantly, the sound of a body slumping to the floor echoing down the long hallway.
"Holy shit, you don't think he…" someone whispered.
"No way, he wants to be a Hero, just like us…r-right?" another person answered, Boturo not sure who as the gloom seemed to deepen even more, forcing him to strain his eyes to even see the outlines of his classmates.
A burst of wind shot down the hallway, several of his classmates shrieking. Boturo heard several people falling to the floor before the sound of a door slamming shut rung down the hallway, the last vestiges of light vanishing around them.
"What the fuck?" one of the girls whimpered, "Who has a light? Someone has to have a light!"
"I do," Boturo said as he pulled out one of the small glowsticks from a pouch, snapping it as a pale green light illuminated the hall, barely reaching half a meter around him.
"What the hell is that Uzuchiha? A fucking firefly?" the other boy said as he stepped into the light, "I could make more light setting my own farts on fire!"
"I don't know what's up!" the teen almost shouted, his voice echoing strangely in the hallway, a growing sense of unease bubbling in his chest, "They should have a radius of like 2 meters! I put fresh one's in this morning!"
"Well, they don't!" the same boy grunted, reaching out for the glowstick, "Just give it-."
The sentence ended abruptly as the other teen vanished, Boturo blinking for a moment as he thought he saw his classmate get dragged away.
"What?" the question rang out, "He just…he can get us in the light!"
Boturo knew that it was a stupid thing to say. He knew that it was stupid to get scared. The UA kid was trying to get his Provisional License, just like them. He wanted to be a Hero. And there was no way that the proctors would let anyone get seriously injured. Was there? The sense of unease pulsed in his chest again, the teen spinning as he felt something pass behind him.
"He's here," Boturo whispered, the others shivering at his words.
The three students suddenly huddled together in the dark, Boturo holding the glowstick out like a cross, fingers scrambling to pull out more as he began to panic. The sound of wind reached his ear, Boturo almost stumbling back as the girl he had his back pressed up against was yanked away, his classmate letting out a terrified wail that vanished a second later.
"Oh gods," the other girl whimpered, collapsing to the ground in a burst of tears, "We're going to die! We're going to die! I haven't even had my first kiss and I'm going to die!"
"No, we're not!" Boturo hissed as he looked around, "I promise! We're going to be fi-."
He cut off the sentence as he looked at the empty space the girl had occupied only seconds before. He hadn't felt anything. Hadn't heard anything. She had been there only seconds ago. But now she was gone. Boturo froze, staring at the ground as he held out the glowstick, the others in his belt forgotten, unable to understand what was happening.
"Interesting," the word felt like an ice cube had just slipped down his back, sending a shiver up Boturo's spine.
"W-where are you?" he shouted, pointing the glowstick madly around, "S-show yourself!"
"I'm right here," the voice said, Boturo blinking as the shadows seemed to coalesce in front of him, drawing away the darkness as the hallway suddenly became light, the glowstick in his hand burning his eyes with the glare, "Always have been."
Boturo swallowed as he looked at the other teen, his eyes darting around the small hallway. His gaze quickly fell on the line of figures propped up against the wall just behind the other boy, each staring blankly ahead as their targets pulsed red.
"D-did you…?" he whispered, staring at their blank eyes, "What are you going to do?"
"No, I just had them rest for a bit," the figure said calmly, "And I think the more important question is: What are you going to do?"
"You finally made it," Jiro laughed as Izuku joined them, "What took so long, Green?"
"I had to Influence a ton of people to keep them off my back," he groaned, popping a Blood Pod in his mouth, "Even when I showed them my passing Targets, they still came after me!"
"Well," Yaoyorozu said, pointing to a set of shelves on the back wall as she handed him a cup of juice, "You can go remove your targets and hand them and the ball bags back over there."
"Thanks," Izuku sighed as he trudged over.
The walls of the Anteroom fell away as the Procter explained the Rescue portion of the exam after the show of the combat field exploding, the older students quickly shouting and giving orders.
"Yaoyorozu?" Izuku shouted as she ran towards the area being designated as the first aid station.
"I'm more useful here!" she yelled back, "I can make medical supplies for the injured!"
"I've been taking EMT lessons," Kotoro shouted as he chased after her, Kagaro close behind him already singing a calming song, "I'll help you!"
"Right," Izuku said as he looked at the rest of the group, "Plans?"
"Shoji, Vesper and I are going to be moving around helping locate people trapped under the rubble!' Jiro called as the three of them split off from the group.
"We're going to go look for uncooperative civilians," Shinso called as he and Monoma walked off, "And help anyone we can along the way."
Kirine, Yanagi, Jiko and Tokage all headed off to start help moving things, the rest all splitting up to join those who'd already left.
Izuku stood alone for a moment as he considered what he could do, looking over when he heard someone shout.
"Dammit, there's someone trapped under here. I think they're unconscious, but I can't reach them to check their pulse!"
"Their pulse is slow but steady," Izuku said as he walked over, the person jumping as they looked up at his glowing red pupils, "About 50 bpm. It also looks like there's a second, smaller person under them, slightly elevated heart rate, and I can hear them crying, so probably a child."
"Oh, thanks," the other student said, shaking their head slightly, "We'll be careful when moving the rubble. HEY, WE HAVE TWO TRAPPED OVER HERE!"
Izuku smiled under his mask, hurrying over to another person as they tried to lift large block of concrete.
The wall exploded into the testing area, sending rubble scattering across the ground as the horde of identically dressed men rushed out.
"Time! To! Partay!" The Pro Hero Hazard shouted as he ran a hand over his acid-green mohawk, noxious fumes rising from the vents on his shoulders as he took a deep breath in, his muscles growing slightly larger as he did.
"𝕾𝕷𝕰𝕰𝕻!" the word slammed into the group before they could even raise their weapons, many of them collapsing to the ground even as Hazard stumbled, his eyes growing almost too heavy to keep open.
"What the…?" he yawned as the figure appeared in front of him, reforming out a cloud of what looked like ash, "What do you think you're-?"
He was cut off as a fist slammed into the side of his head, knocking him out cold a moment later.
Izuku popped a Blood Pod into his mouth and bit down as the last of the faux-Villains were taken down by other examines.
The man scowled as he followed the jump suited Villain into the old warehouse, carefully avoiding the dirty boxes that lay strewn about the floor. He paused for a moment, allowing his eyes to get used to the gloom, before looking towards the six figures in front of him.
All OC's belong to their respective owners (See end of previous chapter)
Thank you again to everyone who submitted OC's, I liked them all, but these guys are the one's I chose. Doesn't mean your OC can't get a cameo at some point!
Boturo Uzuchiha is a meme OC who belongs to my friend Skippy, who is an ass. But in the good way.
His quirk is Shadow Clone.
Can't think of anything else to put here, so!
Grey out!
