Sonic The Hedgehog & Lara Croft:

The Brave Blue Hedgehog and the British Tomb Raider

Chapter 1: The Beginning + Ancient Ruins Found

Writer's Note:

Sonic the Hedgehog! Lara Croft!

Adventurers, one is a blue hedgehog and the other is an attractive British archeologist.

Going strong since their respective heydays in the 90s, they've had numerous adventures, in comics and video games.

Sonic's gotten the TV show treatment and multiple voice actors, even Lara's had her share of movies, played by actors such as the incredible Anglina Jolie...

Over the course of nearly three decades and so many adventures, the two icons have never met… until today!

Now it is time for them to meet properly...

But how will they fair together you ask?

Well, they'll get along fine at first and, yes, there will be a growing romance between them.

Don't worry, folks! This isn't 06 although the SonElise pairing idea is interesting. After all, the concept of romance between a human and a talking animal has worked well before; Roger Rabbit and Jessica for example.

Anyways, this story is not canon to anything, this is me playing in the sandbox and letting my imagination run wild.

Sonic & Lara Croft; Brave Blue Hero Hedgehog and British Tomboy Tomb Raider is in a completely different timeline, but our heroes' worlds are combined so that way they can get together and do their own things.

Just a fair warning, this fic will be rated PG-13/Fiction T for instances of mild language, action scenes, possible suggestive content and romantic themes such as kissing.

Plz enjoy the story, dear readers and enthusiasts of video games and stuff!

Disclaimer: I don't own the SEGA Sonic characters nor do I own Sony's Lara Croft, but I own the OCs I make.

Welcome to the world of Sonic and Lara Croft, a universe unique and beyond the worlds you know from the universes of the Tomb Raider and SEGA's Blue Blur, where the story of a lifetime awaits us all...

A long time ago, an ancient tribe sought to unlock a great power that could enable them to use all the wealth and riches of the world for themselves.

The tribe was a Mexican-South American tribe known as the Ratakya, they honored many great and powerful supernatural beings of myth and legend.

The entity of their choice was the Senga Yujunaka.

According to ancient tales told by campfires, the Senga Yujunaka helped the entity known as Yahova Hathlic forge the universe, creating the many materials found within the Earth and other worlds from minerals to gold.

In great commemoration of the Senga Yujunaka, the Ratakya used all the silver and gold they could find to create the Yujunaka Statue, a small golden gorilla sculpture that bore great resemblance to what they thought was their patron spirit.

For many years, the Ratakya lived in harmony, farming and leading peaceful lives, rarely going to war with other tribes.

Then, one day, the tribe vanished. What became of them remains unknown, save for a handful of knowledge of it all.

It is said that a great disaster struck the Ratakya, decimating them.

One day, the tribe vanished. It was said that a great disaster descended upon the world and, amidst the chaos, the Ratakyans were wiped out. What was the disaster, some people believe it to have been some sort of terrible war.

In order to preserve their legacy, the Ratakyans hid the Yujunaka Statue within an ancient temple located somewhere in the world. After locking it away, they scattered the four Keys of Senga, the items important to unlocking the way to the statue.

Legends also say the Ratakyans hid away the ancient scrolls that would lead future generations to seek out the statue, should they learn of its existence. Upon the scroll, the Ratakyans left a message.

You who seek to use our legacy for your own gains.

Be it for light-hearted or dark-hearted purposes, we will allow you to use it.

But first, follow this map and seek out the Keys of Senga.

With help from this map and the guidance of Yujunaka, you will face many challenges and choices.

We cannot give away all the exact details but we shall give you the info you need,

The keys are hidden just like the Yujunaka Statue itself.

The first key will be hidden somewhere in a vast ocean, the second will be located in a shrine and the third will be found in a vast desert just like the Yujunaka Statue itself.

As for the fourth and final key, it is well hidden in plain sight, but it may not be easy to find at first until you somehow figure it out on your own.

Good luck, great adventurer.

Signed, the Tribe Chief of Ratakya

Thousands of years later, as most of the world forgets the ancient past and the Ratakya fade into myth and legend, Sonic the Hedgehog is the bravest and most popular hero of all, defending the world from villainous forces out to conquer or destroy everything.

Using his kind, noble and fast paced heroic skills, he's smashed robots, defeated villains and has helped defeat far more villainous deviants from aliens to dark wizards and beings from beyond the known universe.

Over time, Sonic has become a celebrity, catching the attention of the mainstream media for his heroics and has become a chick magnet.

After years of adventuring and facing down villainous forces, the blue hero has had earned the hearts of many attractive females, be it humans or anthromorphic animals, yet it hasn't stopped him from running away from crazy fan girls, even his love of adventure has not kept Sonic from spending time with many females.

All those years after becoming a great defender of justice, he is seen as a model and a player, even becoming more famous for his catchphrases, ranging from "Lets do it to it" to "Hooba dooba".

But Sonic the Hedgehog may have competition. In the nation of England and elsewhere, Lara Croft, the daughter of a famous billionaire and archeologist, has proven herself to be the toughest, most skilled adventurer of all time.

Despite starting out in her early teens, Lara has become an adventurously, skilled tomboy, known for her archeology and often appearing on the cover of magazines as a celebrity like Sonic.

In all the years the two have heard of each other, they have never met, but that is all about to change soon and things will never be the same. For the intrepid tomb raider, she will have met the man of her dreams.

For the blue blur, he will have met his ultimate dream girl. Romance will bloom as they embark on a quest to discover a lost relic. It will be like nothing ever seen before, this is where the tale begins...

Even in late spring or early summer, traveling through rainforests or deserts was difficult, especially in South America or in Africa, all thanks to the 95 degree temperature and unbearable heat.

However, that wouldn't stop American journalist Prof. Nyn Tendow and his assistant Cawn Solwors from making the perilous journey, evading fire ants and ugly spiders who's bites were more fatal than their bark.

Cutting through bamboo trees and swatting away insects with nothing but a samurai blade, Tendow and Solwors had been on the trek for ages and they would not let up until it was over.

Solwors, a small man of age 22, was camera man and Tendow, a tall 30 year old, acted as reporter during news reports.

Wearing hiking shorts, a tank top and a lab coat, Tendow was well experienced and regarded as the best of the best, already made famous for proving that flying cars were possible if the world had the right technology and almost anything in fiction could be replicated in real life.

As a young boy, he'd planned to travel to South America and try to find any remaining traces of the lost Ratakya of myth and legends, maybe find a shred of proof that the great power they apparently honored, the patron spirit known as Senga Yujunaka, ever existed.

Tendow and Solwors had arrived in Brazil days ago and, after doing some research about Ratakya ruins, they ventured out here and had been trekking through the rainforest on foot for ages now. And yet, despite carrying a camera, Solwors was starting to get exhausted.

Even when he drank some water, the heat still made him suffer from tiredness/exhaustion to the point where he wanted to faint. "Mr. Tendow? *Pant* How much… *Gasp* farther do we… *wheeze* have to go? *Gasp, wheeze* Getting a bit tired… *Pant* How are we going to… *pant* get back?"

"We will not quit, Solwors." Tendow said smoothly, "We're not quitters, we will not back down, no matter how hard things are. The Ratakyans' legacy must be found and preserved at all costs, once we're through this stupid jungle, then we can stop and get some rest, you got it?" Solwors caught his breath, "Yes, sir. Are we almost there yet?"

"Almost."

"Really?"

"Yes, you idiot. I can see a clearing just ahead."

"Thank you, thank you. I hope we can find a spot to sit."

"You can zip it now and quit your bellyaching and complaining."

A few more minutes of walking later, cutting down more trees and bushes, while avoiding being bitten, stung or dive bombed by bees, spiders and fire ants, the two "intrepid" explorers finally made it out of the jungle into a wide open space not surrounded by endless trees.

The only things in the surrounding area were bushes, weeds and ruins, ruins of an ancient village that had somehow survived for all these years of being overrun by plant life and various animals. "At long last, we found it." Tendow was getting excited, "Solwors, we can rest now."

Solwors was delighted, "Really? Its rest period now?"

"YES!" Tendow shouted happily, "But keep the camera rolling, we have to broadcast this to the world and let people know." Solwors breathed a sigh of relief and sat down upon a nearby rock that, surprisingly, looked black.

Heck, he even failed to notice if it had fur and was surprised to know that the rock felt like a cushion, whereas rocks were usually solid and super hard, hurting like heck depending on what was going on.

"You got the camera rolling, Solwors?" Tendow called, jumping up and down with glee, "Good. This is Professor Nyn Tendow reporting in from South America, we did it, we have finally set foot in ancient Ratakya ruins.

"After years of seeing explorers fail to set foot in these ruins, due to not having perseverance and being cowards, we have done the impossible. The riches of Ratakya will be ours, when I get my hands on them, I'm going to use it to make lots of money and become a big billionaire.

"Move aside celebs of the past, Nyn Tendow is now about to be the number one in the world. Your favorite professor and star on the world stage, reporting live from South America from the ruins of an unknown Ratakya village. You can stop recording now, Solwors."

Solwors shut down the camera and got to his feet, walking up to his boss, "So, what are you gonna do with all that money and all them chicks along with that mansion when you get it all, assuming we make it out of here?"

Tendow chuckled, "Oh, my dear boy, Solwors. You think I'm gonna tell you?

"First off, I'm gonna spend my money wisely and keep it safe in my own personal money vault either within a mansion or my own bank. As for the women? Lets just say I'm gonna have lots of fun."

"Oh really?"

"Yup, that's right."

"You have good intentions, boss, lets try to keep it that way so, in the end, you being a player won't lead to you being greedy and corrupt."

Tendow grunted, "Don't care. The most important thing is, we have ruins to explore and treasure to find, got it?"

Solwors coughed, "Yes, boss. We better get back to looking for… stuff, before something bad happens."

"HA! What could happen? Could a giant beast come alive and eat us? Are there any dangerous traps in the area? Doesn't matter, there's a shrine close by and we're gonna go in there, get that treasure and then we're get outta of here and go home."

Tendow was right, just up ahead, at the very heart of the village ruins was a humongous structure, tall, almost cone shaped with a flat roof, a small staircase leading up towards the entrance.

It was made from stone and marble, gray colored too. Somewhere in there, the Ratakyans had hid their ancient treasure just waiting to be discovered.

Complying with his boss, Solwors followed Tendow as they walked through the ruins of the village, climbing over rocks and broken wood, trying to avoid small shards of glass that was thousands of thousands of years old, as they made their way towards the temple.

Even with nothing coming out and attacking the "intrepid" adventurers, there was still a sense of cold dread in the humid summer air, like something was watching them from the shadows, observing their every move they made.

The only one nervous was Solwors, Tendow was not as nervous as his associate was, probably due to his confidence that they would be fine.

Even if they were attacked, Tendow would make sure he used all of his survival training skills at his disposal to avoid meeting a terrible, terrible fate at the hands of… whatever came at them in the darkest of places.

Little did the "adventurous duo" know that the ruins were populated, populated by something terrifying; Creatures, horrifying creatures, from a whole different world. If there was one thing ancient ruins often brought forth from the depths of darkness, it was terrifying abominations of doom.

The black and furry rocks next to the stones close by were spider monsters, even worse, gigantic snakes with red-black scaly skin slithered close by, sniffing for their next meal. Very few adventurers had ome here and, to their misfortune, had ended up becoming fast food for these monsters.

Solwors was so concentrated on his camera holding, he almost tripped over a black rock before Tendow stopped him. "Careful, fool." He chuckled, "We must tread carefully about these ruins, otherwise, we could get injured."

Not thinking twice, Tendow kicked the "rock" aside and it crashed into a wall.

The two of them were just about to set foot on the steps of the temple, since they were close to it, when they heard a low growling noise.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! "Wh-what was that?" Solwors whimpered, looking at their surroundings, the growl sounded like a dog's growl or, at best, a cat groaning in its sleep or growling angrily.

The black rocks littering the area suddenly began to shudder before Solwors and Tendow's eyes, followed suit by two sets of three legs on each side of each rock protruding from the left and right, two ears perked up, a mouth with sharp teeth opened up and glowing red lights shone in the darkness.

The rocks came alive as both travelers realized the truth that they were not alone, then came hissing and wrecked houses burst open as giant red-black snakes with glowing eyes came forth, howling like dogs.

"Do we have any weapons?" Solwors asked, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pistol, "Weapons like guns that can be useful?" Tendow grunted irritably, "What question is that? Of course we got weapons fool, I got my machine gun with me."

That's right, Mr. Tendow had been carrying a machine gun on himself the entire time and, by golly, he was gonna use it. Putting aside his current tool in hand, his sword knife, he picked up the gun and pulled the trigger just as the creatures began to swarm them. BA-BA-BA- BLAM! BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM!

The bullets struck three of the spider monsters in the legs, the head and two of the eyes, partially blinding them.

The bugs screamed in pain and their antenna bent down in different direction, the snakes rushed in, hoping to aid their six legged comrades.

Tendow fired off a few shots at the snakes only for them to bare their fangs and bite him in the arm, the not so intrepid adventurer shrieked in pain.

"BOSS!" Solwors exclaimed, Tendow was struggling not to drop his gun as he desperately shot blindly at the snakes and the spider beasts, now surrounding and trapping the two of them.

When the gun's bullets ran out and the tip of the gun began to smoke, Tendow dropped it, outraged that he'd ran out of bullets so soon. He began to back up towards the entrance of the temple, Solwors protesting and pleading with the monsters.

But it was no use, within seconds, they became the main course for the spiders and snakes' first meal in years and what remained of Tendow became the leftovers for the snake's desert while the spiders ate the rest of Solwors himself…
