We open to a flashback of a heavily beaten Jason Todd, breathing frantically, due to the fact he was beaten by a crowbar wielded by The Joker, Gizmo, Mammoth and a reluctant Jinx.
Jinx was standing beside the beaten Jason, breathing heavily and holding back the tears.
"Hit him one more time." Joker ordered Jinx.
Jinx hit Jason again, still trying to ignore the pain Jason was in.
"Ok, that's enough." Joker said, sounding tired. "I'm a little bored now."
Jinx turned around and handed Joker the crowbar, which he snatched. "I know it was hard to hurt a broken hero, but you'll get used to it." Joker said to Jinx in a comforting tone of voice and placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
Jinx removed the Joker's hand from her shoulder and walked to her HIVE buddies.
"Now, you better get going. Unless you wanna deal with Batman." Joker ordered the HIVE.
"What?!" Mammoth yelled, disappointed.
"Yeah, why can't we fight the Batman?" Gizmo asked in a begging voice.
"Why?" Joker repeated while doing an impression of Gizmo. "Because you're not ready to face the bat. That will be the next lesson if you wish to return to Gotham. But now, you must go. I'm about to end things with a bang and I want an audience to watch the light show."
Jinx stared at Joker, worried and scared. "You're planning to blow him up?" Jinx asked, worried for Jason.
"Yes! So that way, he won't escape the blast." Joker laughed at the thought of Jason dying and turned to face him. "Oh, he entered the world as a little mean birdie, now he's going out with a bang." Joker laughed harder at his pun.
Jinx stared at The Joker, worried and scared for Jason's life. "Joker, do you mind if I suggest something?" Jinx asked the clown prince.
Joker turns to face Jinx and grins in her face and said "Go ahead."
"I know you...This might found funny to you...But, is there a chance where we don't kill Jason...Can't we just leave him to die, like this?" Jinx was stuttering while asking Joker her question.
Jinx's question caused The Joker's smile to turn upside-down. "No, that isn't funny at all!" Joker unexpectedly grabbed Jinx by the collar and gave her a backhand slap. "I haven't killed anybody all day, and I'm not having some pink-haired teenage girl tell me otherwise!!!!!" Gizmo and Mammoth slowly backed away from Joker, scared what he'll do. "I've told you before, good will never be an option for you! This will be what you'll be for the rest of your life! Just a member of the Bee HIVE!"
"Um...It's actually the HIVE." Gizmo said nervously.
"I do not care, unless one of you tells me something funny!" Joker yelled while intending to spray his acid from his flower at her. "This is what I want you to do,
leave Gotham and never come back until I tell you to come back! Understand!"
Jinx tried to hold back her tears, due to The Joker's intense yelling. "I...understand." Jinx said, holding the tears.
"Good." Joker said while smiling sinisterly.
23 minutes later.
We see Jinx on top of a building, watching Gizmo and Mammoth stealing from a video store. Jinx felt a sense of regret for what she did to that poor teenage boy, begging for his life. Like, maybe a part of her wants to get out of this life, but another part, the part that she felt was more right than the others, she can't escape this life. The pink haired sorceress suddenly heard a loud bang and saw in the distance, the warehouse she and her teammates were in, exploding. It was at that moment, the HIVE member knew Jason Todd was dead. This revelation caused Jinx to burst into tears, over her having involvement with the death of Jason Todd. When she joined the villain life, she never really wanted to kill anybody. Sure she would hurt the odd person, but she wouldn't intend to kill them, only steal.
Present day.
We cut back to Jinx still trapped on the wall by the giant red x, rain pouring down. A few seconds ago she saw that Red X was in fact, Jason Todd.
"Yes. Surprising isn't it?" Asked the revived ex-boy wonder. He approached Jinx and stroked her chin with his finger.
"I have to be dreaming." Jinx said in disbelief and fear.
"I wish you were. But you're not, you're face-to-face with your worst nightmare." Jason said in a sinister voice. "Ya know, it's a shame there's a possibility I'll kill you, you're very cute for a bad girl."
Jinx furrowed her eyebrows and allowed her eyes to glow. "Sorry, I don't have a thing for guys who try to kill me." Jinx used her powers to make the x explode in front of Jason, causing him to fly back into a trash can.
Jason pulled himself up to see Jinx pointing a hex bolt at him. "Jason, I do not want to hurt you." Jinx said to the ex-boy wonder. "Just leave me alone, I want to go back to the tower and face the consequences." Jason's eyes widened with fear and anger. "If you don't leave me alone, than I will have no choice but to hurt you. Which is something I don't want to do again."
Jason then smiled. "Ya know, your awfully chatty." Jason pushed the button on his belt and teleported.
Jinx turned around and Jason was now in front of her. Then Red X aggressively punched the pink haired sorceress in the face, sending her flying in the wall.
Jason puts his mask back on and performs a jump kick at the sorceress. But before his foot could connect with her face, Jinx hex blasts the revived Robin, sending him crashing to the ground.
Jinx and Red X stood back up, at the same time and charged at each other. The two engaged in a martial arts style fist fight. The two deflecting each other's blows. Red X kicked Jinx in the stomach, before his fist could connect with her face, Jinx ducked the incoming fist and tried to uppercut Red X, but he quickly backed away.
Red X then activated the red x's on his wrists, to use as wrist blades.
He tried to hit Jinx with them, but she dodged every one of them. But the next one did managed to slice a bit of Jinx's hair.
Jinx snapped her fingers and the wrist blades blew up, sending the masked Jason flying backwards.
He jumped back up and cracked his knuckles. "Ok, that's cheating." Red X said to the pink haired sorceress.
"Please Jason, I don't want to fight." Jinx persuaded the masked Red X. But deep down, she knows he isn't gonna listen.
"I don't want to fight either, I want us to be fair." Red X said to Jinx, while slowly walking up to her.
"Please Jason, no more." Jinx begged.
This caused Red X to laugh really hard. "No more?! You're begging now?!" Red X laughed. "That is so ironic. You beg me to stop, even though you didn't do the same with me years ago." Red X then blasted Jinx with one of his red x's. Causing her to be electrocuted and then, knocked out.
Red X approached the unconscious Titan and picked her up, bridal style. "The public may have forgiven, but in my eyes, you don't deserve forgiveness." Red X said as he started walking away from the alley, while carrying Jinx.
Back at the tower.
The T-Jet had just landed on top of the tower. Robin, Starfire and Beast Boy exited their air vehicle to be greeted by Raven.
"Did Joker say anything?" Raven asked the boy wonder.
"He gave us the suggestion to look into Jason's grave." Robin replied, looking angered.
"And?"
"There was no body." Beast Boy replied.
"And we believe him to be not dead." Starfire said looking worried.
"Is he alive?" Asked Raven.
"I'm not sure." Robin replied.
"I'm hoping somebody just stole his body." Beast Boy said, looking scared. "Because if I'm gonna be fighting a zombie, than I'm running away. Unless we aim for the head then we-" Beast Boy was interrupted when Raven conjured a hand to slap Beast Boy in the back of the head. "I'll stop." Beast Boy said as rubbed his head.
"Robin, Kid Flash has awakened." Raven said to her leader.
"Is he ok?" Asked Robin.
"He screamed Jason and then he was repeating he knew who Red X was." Raven replied, in her usual monotone voice. "I don't know about you, but he sounded scared."
"How is he now?" Asked Robin.
Raven closed her eyes trying to read the speedster's emotions. "He feels scared and shocked. I think you should see him."
Later.
Robin enters the infirmary and sees Cyborg handing Kid Flash a glass of cold water.
"Hey Rob." Cyborg said as Robin entered the room. "Did ya'll get anything out of that clown?"
Robin looked at Cyborg and then his best friend. Robin didn't wanna break Kid Flash's heart over the fact Jinx was involved in a death he feels responsible for. But deep down, he felt obligated to tell him the truth.
"Cy, could you leave me and Kid Flash alone for a while?" Asked Robin. "There's something I need to inform him."
Cyborg gave his leader a nod and left the infirmary.
Robin approached his best friend and sat on the edge of his stretcher.
"How are you holding up?"
Kid Flash smirked and replied "I'm feeling ok. Boy, that was intense. First time that has ever happened to me. So, how long was I out, and what year is it?"
Robin laughed at his best friend's joke. "It's 25 years in the future." Robin joked.
Kid Flash laughed at Robin's joke. The speedster always did love it when his best friend could joke along with him. "In all seriousness, did anything happen while I was gone?"
Robin's smile soon faded and he stared at his best friend with a straight face. "Kid Flash, I learnt some new information about Jason's death." Robin said.
Kid Flash's smile disappeared. "What is it?" Asked the speedster.
"The HIVE were involved. Mammoth, Gizmo..." Robin took a deep breath, not ready for his best friend's reaction, "...and Jinx."
Kid Flash's eyes widened. "Robin, is this a joke?"
"I don't think so." Robin replied.
Kid Flash turned away from Robin and started dangling his feet off the stretcher. "Well, you're only joking when I'm joking. So, I know you're not joking." Kid Flash sighed in betrayal. Like, he was saddened that the girl he had fallen head over heels for, turned out to have some involvement in Jason Todd's death. A death he has blamed himself for, for years.
"When did you discover this?" Asked Kid Flash.
"Joker told us." Robin replied. "I interrogated him so he could explain why Red X attacked Mammoth and Gizmo, after you told us about Red X's intentions. I didn't wanna believe it, Jinx earned my trust and to have it taken away from me was just hard. Knowing Joker, he looked like he wasn't joking."
Kid Flash stood up and walked towards the window. "I don't know if I should believe it." Kid Flash said sadly.
"If it makes you feel better, Joker mentioned she took some convincing."
Kid Flash turned around to face his best friend. "What do you mean?"
"I thought back to it and I thought to myself, maybe Jinx didn't wanna hurt Jason. Maybe Joker forced her to do it." Robin said. "I know Joker has the ability to force people to do what he says, maybe Jinx was a victim."
"If she is, I feel sorry." Kid Flash said as he turned around to face the window again.
"You never told me why you passed out. Do you wanna tell me the reason?" Robin asked his best friend.
Kid Flash took a deep breath, due to his fear of Robin not believing him. "I saw Red X unmasked."
Robin's eyes widened. A part of him was happy that Kid Flash found out who he was., another part questioned "why didn't he just get Kid Flash to chase him?
"What did he look like?" Robin asked his best friend.
Kid Flash tapped his fingers nervously, since he was worried Robin wouldn't believe him. "Red X is Jason." Kid Flash replied, scared of how Robin would react.
Robin clenched his fists in anger and said "I figured."
Kid Flash looked surprised. "You did?"
"I went to Jason's grave, he wasn't there." Robin explained to his best friend. "The attacks on Joker, Mammoth and Gizmo got me thinking; Then I thought back to you fainting and I had a theory you saw his face. And by "his face" I meant Jason's."
"So, Jinx is not safe?" Kid Flash asked with a panicked look on his face.
"Probably not, we have to protect her at all costs." Robin informed his best friend. Robin pulled his Titans communicator out of his pocket to try and contact Jinx. "Robin to Jinx, do you respond? Robin to Jinx do you respond?"
Kid Flash's tapped Robin on the shoulder and points to a Titan communicator in the trash can.
Robin walked to the trash can pulled the Titan's communicator out of it. He stared at the communicator and came to the conclusion: Jinx wasn't here.
We cut to Jinx being thrown into the floor of a warehouse.
"Now, this place brings back amazing memories." Red X said as he grabbed a chair that was resting by the wall and placed it beside Jinx. "Ya know, I wanted to do it in a rundown apartment complex, but I realised it wasn't dilapidated enough for scum like you to die in." Red X picked up Jinx and placed her on the chair. "So I said, why not here. It's dilapidated and a mess and something else..." Red X pulled a rope out of his pocket and tied it to Jinx. "...Nostalgic?"
Red X walked around Jinx, waiting for her to say something. "Ok, I get it. You're planning to kill me the same way Joker did years ago. Beat me to a pulp and then blow me up." Jinx said looking angry and scared at the same time. "Please Jason, I have reformed. I have found a family that cares about me."
Red X laughed. "Family?" Red X walked up to a nearby crate and picked up a crowbar. "You think Robin, Starfire, Cyborg see you as family?" Red X walked up to Jinx and presses the crowbar against her face.
"Hmm, I would hit you against the face, but your face is too pretty to damage." Red X hits Jinx in the stomach with the crowbar, causing her to fall on the floor with the chair.
Jinx did her best to suppress the scream that wanted to escape her. "Do you feel that?" Red X asked the ex-HIVE member. "That's the exact amount of excruciating pain I felt on that exact day." Red X continued to beat Jinx with the crowbar. At one point, screamed in pain. "Wow, three more hits and that's what gets you screaming."
"Please, no more." Jinx begged the revived Jason.
"No more?!" Those are the words I used before you hit me." Red X hits Jinx with the crowbar again.
Jinx then started tearing up due to the pain. "Ok, kill me. I don't even care what everyone thinks anymore. Especially Kid Flash."
"Oh, you and Kid Flash have a thing?" Red X asked Jinx. "Hmmmmm...Perhaps I should break the news. Since, he'll be looking for you." Red X threw the crowbar on the floor and walked to the window. "Stay here, I'll be back." Red X jumped out of the window intending to fight any Titans to come anywhere near him.
Jinx tried once again to suppress the tears that were falling down her face, but she couldn't. She knew this was what she was getting, but she didn't want to be tortured even further. Time in prison would be fine, but being beaten to death was taking things too far for her.
Titan's East Tower.
Joker is in his cell laughing wildly about something while the pouring rain crashed outside the tower. "Oh, this is too good."
Aqualad entered the cell block looking annoyed by the Joker's laughter. He rubbed his eyes since he got rudely awakened by the Joker's laughter. "Sorry, was I being too loud?" The clown prince asked the Atlantean.
Aquaman walked up to the cell and knocked on the bulletproof glass. "Please laugh quietly, some of us are trying to get to sleep." Aqualad tiredly commanded the clown prince.
Joker chuckled at the command. "Sorry, I was thinking of a joke." Joker laughed, still thinking of the joke.
Aqualad stares at The Joker, interested and curious about what The Joker is thinking of. "Care to tell it to me?" The Atlantean asked.
Joker grinned at the Atlantean and said "I was thinking of your reaction to me eating a delicious fish taco." Joker pulled a fish taco out of his pocket and took a bite out of it.
"No!!!!" Yelled the terrified Aqualad.
Aqualad opened the cell door by typing in the password and walked in. He grabbed the grinning clown prince by the collar and pushed him against the wall. "That could've been a friend of mine!!!"
"You're friends with fish?" Joker asked while cringing. "No wonder you and Aquaman are the butt of the jokes at the Legion of Doom." Joker laughed again.
Aqualad dropped Joker to the floor and picked up the fish taco. "Where did you even get this?" Asked Aqualad.
Joker smiled and said, "Well, might've snatched it from arrow boy." Joker replied.
Aqualad threw the fish taco in the trash can and left the cell. But he did lock it on the way out. "I'll be very happy once Batman collects you in 7 hours." Aqualad said with a satisfied smile.
"Really, why doesn't he pick me up now?" Joker asked. "I swear bats are supposed to be nocturnal."
Aqualad walked out of the cell block to try and get some sleep.
Joker grinned and pulled the key to the Titans East's T-jet out of his pocket. "Shame you left, I really wanted to say thank you."
Joker dug underneath his bed and pulled a stick made out of a knife, fork and spoon. He pushed the device through the holes you see on the bulletproof glass and edged it to the left to the lock. Joker used it to type in the password he somehow got memorised and the door opened. "Word of advice: Never give a prisoner cutlery." Joker exited his cell and started walking to the hangar bay.
Back at Jump City.
Robin is seen walking down an alleyway on a rainy night, looking for Jason and hopefully Jinx. "Red X! Red X!" Robin shouted. "Where are you?!"
Robin looked on the ground and noticed something familiar. Robin bent down and picked up a strand of pink hair, which he knew instantly belonged to Jinx. "No." Robin said to himself.
"She isn't dead."
Robin gritted his teeth at the familiar voice of Red X. Robin turned around and saw him standing in the pouring rain.
"Do not worry Robin, I am taking such good care of that witch." Red X said in a mocking voice, intending to anger Robin.
Robin clenched his fists in anger, wanting to punch Red X hard in the face and hopefully knock the mask off. "Take off your mask." Robin's orders caused Red X to chuckle a bit.
"Why?"
"I want to see Jason Todd."
Red X looked surprised but then he gave a sarcastic sounding sigh. "I guess it's come to this moment anyway." Red X took off his helmet to reveal to Robin who he is.
Robin's eyes widened a bit before they turned into anger. "Jason."
Jason eyed Robin like he missed him, yet he was angry at the same time. He grinned and said "Yes."
"I don't understand, if you were Red X all the time. Why were you stealing?"
"Well, grab a seat I'm about to tell you a long, long, long story." Jason said as he sat on a trashcan. "Where do we start? Where shall we start? How about we start with my resurrection?" He stared at his predecessor whom gave him a nod. "Alright, the League of Shadows dug me out of my grave and revived me. Ra's resurrected me to make him his assassin but luckily I escaped before he did. I swam from Asia to Jump City with no memory of who I was and what I was doing. Then I had this strange urge to burst into Titan's tower. Getting in wasn't hard, since you had a power cut that night and once I was in, I stole your little costume. After I got the costume I was questioning what to do with it, until I met some goon and he suggested I'd steal. I had to practice with the suit at first, but I eventually got the hang of it and started my night of stealing. That same night, I met you again. You probably know the rest, but I felt I saw you somewhere before. After our little incident with your briefcase, I started to remember your face, your name, Dick Grayson."
Robin glared at Jason calling him by his real name, since he doesn't like to be referred by his real name while Robin. "If you started to remember than, why didn't you attack?"
"Well, I was still struggling to remember." Jason continued while sharpening one of his red x's. "I went to places and the memories slowly came back. Gotham was where I got the biggest punch. I remembered the smile of that psychotic clown, I remembered the pain of the crowbar they used to hurt me and I remembered the burning of the explosion that killed me. The revelation got me angry, that I started planning my revenge. I first attacked Harley Quinn, whom was living with her new 'partner' Poison Ivy; I then attacked Joker and handed him to the Titans East after I was done; I then attacked the idiots known as Mammoth and Gizmo, which in a way, was me assisting you; and now, I'm attacking your new member, Jinx." Jason placed the x back in the pocket and stared at Robin in anger. "I'm disappointed in you Robin, really I am. I died and you allowed her to be a part of your crew. But since you're looking for her and not me, I'm afraid..."
Suddenly, Jason threw a red x at Robin and it blew up in his face, but before it could hit the boy wonder, Robin jumped back.
Jason charges at his predecessor and engages in a fistfight with him. Jason attempted to punch Robin in the face, but Robin deflected it.
"I don't want to fight Jason." Robin said while deflecting more punches from his successor.
Jason performed a backflip, which caused Robin to get kicked in the chin. Jason threw one of his X's at Robin, while Robin threw a birdarang at the x, causing them to blow up mid-air.
Robin threw one of his ice bombs at Jason, but he quickly dodged it and it blew up behind him.
Jason charged at Robin and engaged in another fistfight with him, the two still blocking every blow.
Robin kicked Jason in the face, sending him flying back. Jason stood back up and fired a red x at the boy wonder, which he quickly dodged.
Then Red X disappeared from Robin's view, just as Robin threw a birdarang at him to try and stun him.
Robin punched the air in anger over the fact he missed Jason.
"Hey" Yelled the familiar voice of Jason. Robin looked up and saw his successor on the roof of a building. "Are you gonna stand there or find Jinx?"
Jason started running while Robin grappled to the roof of the apartment complex, pulled himself up and started to chase Jason.
While running from rooftop to rooftop, Jason tried to throw him off by throwing some of his signature red x's at him which he avoided by using his bow staff to deflect them.
Robin throws a birdarang at Jason's ankles and that caused some ropes to tie around his ankles, but Jason quickly used a wrist blade in the shape of an X to cut it instantly.
Eventually, the two stopped chasing each other and made it to a dead end.
"Well, looks like I reached a dead end." Said Jason.
"Give it up Jason, I don't wanna chase you anymore, I want to help you." Robin pleaded with his successor. "Let Jinx go and I'll try and help you."
Jason huffed in annoyance and glared at Robin. "So you can call him?"
"I do not want Bruce involved, I just want to help you away from the wrong path." Pleaded Robin.
Jason pulled a signature red x out of his utility belt and threw it at Robin. He quickly avoided it and threw a birdarang at his successor. Jason dodged the incoming birdarang and fired a red x at Robin, but he quickly performed a back flip to avoid the red x. Jason charged at Robin and kicked him in the face, knocking him off the building. As Robin fell, he bounced off a railing and landed on a trash can.
Jason looked down from the rooftop to watch as Robin used his free hand to clench his broken arm. "Wow, that looks painful."
Jason jumped off the building and landed in front of Robin. Jason approached Robin, bent down and pulled his Titan communicator out of his pocket. "Shame I never had one of these." Jason crushed the Titan's communicator in his hand, while Robin grabbed Jason by the knee. "Woah, hands to yourself." Jason removed Robin's hands from his knee and stood up.
"Ya know, since you're desperate to see your 'best friend' again, I'll take you to her." Jason then knocked Robin out with a punch.
We cut to another flashback where we see Robin and Speedy walking past some warehouses. Speedy was readying his arrows while Robin was trying to get contact with Kid Flash and Jason.
"Any luck?" Asked Speedy.
"Nothing. Must be a weak connection." Robin replied while he played with his communicator.
"I think you can stop, we're here." Speedy said as Robin put his communicator back in his pocket.
The two are then seen entering the warehouse, trying to find the bombs.
Robin and Speedy walked further into the warehouse and instead of bombs, they see mountains of jewellery.
"Uh...You sure this is the right address?" Asked Speedy.
"This is 45 Sans street." Robin said while checking his communicator.
Suddenly, the door behind them shut and locked itself automatically.
"It was a trap!" Yelled Speedy.
Suddenly, a television set turned itself on to reveal Harley Quinn sitting on an office chair. "Hiya bird boy and Robin Hood." Harley said as she stood up and did a little twirl.
Robin and Speedy stared at the crazy sidekick to the Joker with anger. "How did you escape?" The boy wonder asked, angrily.
"Well, let's say the speedster wasn't quick on getting the shock of his life." Harley replied while jumping back on the office chair and showing the boys her joy buzzer.
"Where are the bombs, Quinn?" Speedy asked angrily.
"Ha, there weren't no bombs! You fell for the fake bomb threat gag!" Harley exclaimed as she span around in her chair.
Robin clenched his fists. "Whatever you're planning Quinn, you will not get away with-"
"You're not getting away with this." Harley said, mimicking Robin's voice. "Gosh, can you heroes say something else besides "you're not getting away with this?!"
"If you-"
"Blah, blah, blah! I hate cliched TV shows, can't talk. Bye, bye." Harley hits the TV with her baseball bat, cutting the transmission.
"I hate that clown." Exclaimed Speedy.
"So do I." Said Robin.
Robin ran up to the door and started smashing his body against it. "Locked."
Speedy started to analyse the room. "No vents."
"You do have an explosive arrow, right?" Robin asked Speedy.
"Sure I do." Replied Speedy.
Speedy pulled an arrow out and stuck it to the wall. The arrow exploded, but the wall didn't explode. "They planned this trap. Must be made out of a strong alloy." Speedy said.
"I can't get a signal." Robin informed the archer.
"I know Joker is insane, but he sure does know how to plan a trap."
"I'm gonna try and find a route to escape, you'll try and find a signal." Speedy pulled his Titan communicator out of his pocket and started to walk around the room to try and get a signal.
15 minutes later.
Speedy was trying to get a signal while Robin was feeling the walls to see if there's a way out.
"Nothing!" Yelled Speedy.
"Keep looking." Exclaimed Robin.
"I've been looking for 15 minutes, at this point Jason could be captured."
"Relax, Alfred's told me everything about Jason, he's got this."
"You sure?"
Robin's confident smile soon vanished now he was worrying about Jason.
"He'll be fine Robin." Speedy said, trying to comfort his friend.
"I should've gave him backup. I don't know if he'll be ok." Robin said, feeling worried he'll fail not just his successor, but his former mentor as well.
"No, you saw how good he was. The kid is tough, I think he's definitely got this handled." Speedy said.
"Hmm, I guess you're right."
Suddenly, the door opened and Kid Flash stood there with his arms folded. "Where are the bombs?"
"No bombs." Robin answered his best friend. "Are you ok?"
"Fine, my encounter was a little-"
"Use a shock pun and I'll show you a shock of your life." Speedy threatened the speedster.
Kid Flash looked threatened, but then he smiled and said "It was 'electrifying."
Speedy rolled his eyes while Robin grinned at the pun. "Hey, you didn't say anything about electric puns." Kid Flash said while lifting his hands in a defence position.
"How long were you out?" Speedy asked the speedster.
"I know I'm chatty, but I had to find Robin's cycle." Kid Flash replied. "Next time, don't disguise your bike as a trash can, I was lucky I found it. Cause we're about to be in a bike, car and foot chase."
Robin smirked, ran out of the warehouse and jumped on his R-cycle.
"Where's Joker now?" Robin asked before Joker drove past in his purple car. "Just drove past."
Robin revved his engine and started to make chase for the Joker.
"So, where's mine?" Speedy asked Kid Flash.
Kid Flash looked at Speedy pulling a shameless face. "Sorry, I forgot you." Speedy's smile disappeared and he glared at Kid Flash, who just smirked. "Gotta run."
Kid Flash soon ran away from Speedy and joined Robin in the chase.
Speedy folded his arms and grunted "Leave Speedy out of the chase, sure."
Meanwhile, Joker is seen on the passenger seat laughing his head off with his driver and three goons in the back. Hey boss, how long till we get Gotham fried bird?" The goon asked the clown prince.
Joker laughed and replied "The vultures will be feasting in 4 minutes." Joker laughed even louder. "Oh the cannibalism. Birds feasting on birds." Joker looked at his rear view mirror and saw Robin on his R-cycle, closing in on him. "Woo! And speaking of bird."
The driver sped up the car while Robin revved his engine louder and started to move closer to the Joker's car.
"Ok, somebody get the rocket launcher. Frying another bird won't hurt." Joker laughed again.
One of the goons in the back pulled a rocket launcher out from the trunk and aimed it for Robin. They pulled the trigger, firing the rocket. Before the rocket could hit the boy wonder, Robin used his R-cycle to fire a small missile at the incoming rocket. Robin rode through the smoke and continued chasing the goons, going as fast as he could.
Back in the car, Joker pulled an annoyed smile. "Please tell me that wasn't the only rocket."
"That was the only rocket." Replied the goon.
Joker did an annoyed sigh and sprayed some joker gas at the goon, causing him to burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. "We're being chased, why is this so funny?" The Joker asked his dying goon while smiling. Soon the goon died from all of his uncontrollable laughter.
"Anyone else wanna disappointment me?" Joker asked while giving his goons a threatening smile. All the goons shook their heads. "Well, just to be safe." Joker then gassed his two remaining goons, causing them to laugh themselves to death.
"Are you gonna kill me?" The driver asked in fear.
"You're the one who's driving, idiot!" Joker shouted while smacking his driver in the back of his head.
Suddenly, the driver heard a knock on his side window. He briefly looked to see who was knocking and it was Kid Flash, the driver went back to paying attention to the road.
"Roll the window down." Kid Flash ordered the driver.
The driver complied and rolled his window down. "Thank you." Said Kid Flash. "Hi, how are you? My name is Kid Flash. I'm new here so I thought it'd be nice..." Just as Kid Flash continued talking, the driver started to roll up the window which Kid Flash took notice of and punched the driver, knocking him out. "Now that's just rude."
Joker stared at Kid Flash shocked before Kid Flash ran to the Joker's side and pulled him, his driver and the deceased goons out of the car. The speedster cuffed Joker and the driver to a streetlight while he handed the bodies to a trio of cops drinking coffee. The sudden appearance of Kid Flash caused the cops to spill their coffee. "Joker gas." Kid Flash explained as he threw the bodies to the cops.
Meanwhile, Robin parked his R-cycle beside the cuffed Joker and jumped off. "Look who finally caught me without the help of the bat." Joker mocked Robin.
"Yeah, now where is Robin?" Robin asked the clown prince sternly just as Kid Flash arrived.
Joker smiled and asked "What time is it?"
Kid Flash rolled up his sleeve and replied "9:56. Why?"
Suddenly, an explosion was heard from a distance and the two sidekicks stared at the smoke in shock.
Robin grabbed Joker by the collar aggressively and yelled "What did you do?!"
"Nothing, I think. Hmm, ya know Jason Todd was in there so he's by now a fried bird." Joker burst into a fit of laughter over the possibility of Jason being dead.
Robin gritted his teeth in anger and punched Joker in the face, knocking him out.
"Robin-" Kid Flash tried to calm down Robin but Robin jumped on his R-cycle and sped off to the location of the explosion. Kid Flash glared at Joker before following his best friend.
Later.
Robin and Kid Flash make it to the location of the warehouse where the explosion happened. Robin got off his cycle and started digging through the rubble.
Kid Flash joined in, but he was using his super speed.
The two continued digging until Robin saw something that made his eyes go wide. "No!" Yelled the boy wonder.
Kid Flash turned to face Robin and his eyes widened at Robin had found.
Robin lifted the body of a beaten and bruised Jason. Robin stared at the body with sadness, anger and failure because his successor, the one he promised to protect, was dead in his arms. Kid Flash hung his head down in shame just as the medics, cops and Speedy arrived.
"There you guys are. I was-" Robin turned to face Speedy, who's angry face turned to shock upon seeing Jason's body. "No."
Speedy hung his head down in shame, whilst Kid Flash places his hand on Robin's shoulder, while Robin continued to hold Jason's body; holding in the tears as he did so.
Present day.
Robin wakes up, feeling like he was trapped underneath a large piece of metal. Robin realised he stuck to a wall by a giant red x.
Robin looked around the dilapidated warehouse and saw an unconscious Jinx.
"Jinx!" Robin yelled.
Jinx looked at Robin and to let him see her beaten and bruised face. "Jinx, what did he do to you?"
Jinx sniffed, trying to hold in the tears from the amount of pain she was in. "Rob...Robin." Jinx said while shaking.
Jason entered the room holding a bomb. "Sorry for trapping you in such an uncomfortable position, my predecessor." Jason said while smiling sinisterly.
Robin glared at his successor. "Jason, let go of Jinx." Robin ordered.
"Don't you remember? Jason died, I am Red X now." Jason said while spreading his arms out. "And do you want to know why he's dead?" Jason kicked the badly beaten Jinx causing her to wince in pain.
"Stop it Jason!" Robin yelled while trying to get out of his predicament.
"No Robin, this is her mistake, this is her punishment." Jason exclaimed.
"Jason, don't hurt her. This doesn't involve her, can't you see what you've become?" Jason stared at the bomb he held in his hand. "What would 'he' think about this?"
Jason stared at the bomb like he was regretting his decision but deep down, there was no regret. "Why are you bringing Batman into this?" Jason asked angrily. "Sure, he may have missed me, but he's moved on again! He's got a new Robin. At this point you're gonna have to get out of that suit." Jason places the bomb on a crate.
"Jason, this will not make you better! Vengeance is wrong!" Robin yelled desperately.
"Gosh, you're turning into 'him' aren't you." Jason laughed at how Batman, Robin was becoming.
Jason picked up a crowbar, intending to use it to hurt Jinx. "Please, no more!" Jinx begged.
"Jason! Don't kill her, I am to blame!" Robin yelled. "I could've saved you but I was too occupied with Joker to think about you. I wish everyday I would go back to save you, and so does Kid Flash. So let go of Jinx, take me instead."
Jason stared at Robin, frowning before he sighed. "Robin, I forgive you for not saving me. But, I do not forgive the fact SHE IS ON YOUR TEAM!"
Jason hit Jinx with the crowbar in anger causing her to scream. "It's all her fault!" Jason yelled.
"Blame it on the one who brings bad luck, boy Jason you've gotten a little aggressive since the last time we met." Said a familiar sinister voice.
Joker entered the room sporting his sinister grin.
"How did you know we were here?" Jason asked the clown prince.
"I was just passing through, till I saw you capture the boy blunder." Joker replied and turned to face Robin. "Of all the attempts I've made to capture you, you get trapped in a giant X. Pathetic. And I thought he trained you better."
"What do you want Joker?!" Yelled Robin.
"Came here to say hello to a friend..." Joker turned to face the beaten Jinx. "...and a traitor. Ya know, this moment seems awfully familiar. Let's see: There's me, Jason, Jinx, a crowbar, a bomb and you for some reason..." Robin glared at the clown prince. "...What is it?" Joker placed a hand on his chin, thinking. Joker then snapped his fingers like he just realised. "Oh that's right! You're recreating Jason Todd's death, but with Jinx as Jason Todd and Jason Todd as Jinx and Robin is here for some reason. But what about your Joker? May I be of assistance?"
Jason clenched his hand on the crowbar and glared at the Joker as the clown prince stood behind the ex-boy wonder. "After all, she was the one who beaten you, the one who gave you the inability to escape, the one who is the main reason why the family has come together!" Joker laughed. "Go ahead Jason, beat her further. I know you want it."
"Don't listen to him Jason!" Robin yelled.
Joker turned to Robin and sprayed silly string on Robin's mouth. The substance was very sticky so Robin couldn't talk at all. "Oh do quiet down boy blunder."
Jason stared at the crowbar he held in his hand and gripped to it tighter than before. "Jinx hitting me took convincing, did it not?" Jason asked the clown prince.
"It did take some convincing." Joker replied while grinning at Jason. "Fuzzy memory, eh?"
Jason turned to face Joker. "Sure, but my memory isn't as fuzzy as your vision." And with that, Jason swung the crowbar against the Joker's face.
Joker fell to the floor, trying to suppress the pain with laughter. "Laugh, laugh all you want!" Jason yelled.
Robin tried getting Jason's attention, despite the fact he had silly string stuck to his mouth, while Jinx stared at Jason surprised.
Jason continued to beat The Joker with so much anger, sadness and a strong determination for revenge. Until he stopped. "How does it feel?" Jason asked the clown prince.
Joker stared at Jason and grinned. "Hate to say it, but that really hurt. Both metaphorically and physically."
"I bet it did." Jason continued to beat up the Joker with the blunt instrument. "Jinx doesn't deserve to die. Took me a lot of time to realise the fact you forced poor Jinx to kill me. I at first thought of her as nothing but a HIVE, and in my eyes she still is. Doesn't mean she has to be forced to hurt someone!" Jason continued to beat Joker with the crowbar, while Robin managed to break free despite the fractured bone in his arm.
"Jason stop!" Robin ordered.
Jason stopped to stare at his predecessor just as the Joker laughed. "Yes, stop! Word of advice kid: Never beat a man with a detonator in his hand." Joker said as he pulled a detonator out of his pocket and laughed.
Jason saw that the bomb he had set up was on 35 seconds, causing him and Robin to panic.
Jason dropped the crowbar and grabbed Robin by the collar. "Get out! Take Jinx with you!"
"Not without you!" Robin shouted.
"Robin, that's an order!" Jason yelled as he threw Robin to Jinx.
Jason ran to Robin and Jinx, and bent down to one knee to face the two. Robin pulled a face that said "What are you doing?"
Jason took off his belt and handed it to Robin.
"Jason! No!"
Jason shook his head at Robin, placed Jinx's hand on Robin's shoulder and pushed the button on the belt causing Robin and Jinx to disappear.
Jason smiled while Joker continued to laugh maniacally.
Outside the warehouse.
Robin and Jinx appeared about 25 feet away from the warehouse. "Jason!" Robin yelled as he tried to stand up, but he only fell.
Suddenly, the warehouse that contained Jason and Joker, blew up. Leaving Robin to stare at it in shock!
"Jason!" Robin shouted in sadness.
Robin stared at the flaming wreckage with sadness. He was angry Jason would do that and he was sad because he failed to save him again.
Jinx managed to stand up on her knees, despite the amount of excruciating pain she was in. "I'm...Sorry." Jinx said as she finally collapsed.
Robin stared at Jinx before pulling his Titan's communicator out.
Later.
Jinx wakes up in the infirmary, feeling like she just woken up from a coma that lasted for 5 years.
She touched her face and realised there was a plaster on her cheek. The pink haired sorceress saw that there was bandage in her arm and her leg. She lifted up her hospital gown and saw a bandage on her waist.
"I'm sorry this has happened to you." Said a familiar voice that made Jinx's heart sink. Jinx looked to her right and saw Kid Flash, standing in place while folding his arms. He gave Jinx a small smile and approached her.
"Hey." Jinx said while pulling a frown.
"I know what's going on through your head right now." Kid Flash said.
Jinx looked away from Kid Flash and said "I'm sorry."
Kid Flash's smirk disappeared and it turned serious. "I know and I forgive you." Kid Flash said.
Jinx turned back to face him. "How could you?!" She angrily asked. "I had involvement with Jason's death, I made you blame yourself for his death for two years! How can you forgive me?!"
"You were forced to hurt him, you didn't wanna kill him. Don't think you killed him, it was Joker who finished that off." Kid Flash said as he placed a gentle hand on hers.
"What about my status as a Titan?" Jinx asked, sadly. "Will that change?"
"Despite the Titans were not happy with what you did at first, they eventually accepted you were forced." Kid Flash replied.
"So, am I still a Titan?"
"Not right now. Due to your injuries." Kid Flash pointed against her broken arm. "But, in three weeks, you'll be ready to go back out on the field."
"So, the Titans just forgive me like that?!" Jinx looked frustrated, confused and upset over the fact the Titans just forgiven her.
Kid Flash sighed. "I know it's hard to believe, but they do."
"But I hurt Jason, I broke him, I made him weak...I...I...I..."
Kid Flash gently pressed his finger against her lips. "Don't blame yourself, that was The Joker, not you."
Jinx stared at Kid Flash before she started tearing up because of the guilt that was flying inside her. "Oh Jinx, no." Kid Flash held Jinx's head close to his chest, not wanting to touch any of her broken bones.
"I'm sorry." Jinx said as she continued to weep.
"It's ok, it's ok, it's ok." Kid Flash said in a gentle tone. "If Jason is alive, I'll make sure to protect you."
"But...but...Jason's dead."
Kid Flash stared at the window and said "Maybe not."
We cut to the wreckage of the warehouse where a silhouette of a man entered the crime scene.
The man dug around the rubble and found The Joker, unconscious but still breathing. The clown suddenly woke up, looked at the man and smiled. "Oh, you're a little late."
The man let go of the Joker and continued to search the wreckage. One thing that caught his attention was a small piece of paper that looked pretty recent. The man picked it up and it read "Better luck next time. Your old friend, Jason Todd."
The man scrunched up the paper as the camera pulled out to reveal who he was. Dressed in all black boots, body armour, gloves, cape and a bat-shaped mask; Batman looked up into the night sky pulling a monotone face. But inside, he felt a sense of disbelief and hope that his believed-to-be-dead student, his son, his responsibility, his mistake, was alive.
