A/N: A little warning due to Connor and Murphy being naked. This happens during the deleted scene when their ma calls them.
March
"Well, that takes care of th'fridge," Connor said while he leaned on the kitchen counter and he watched Murphy help Louisa pack her suitcase.
She was surprised when she found out Sean had kept the apartment she shared with Dorothy and the landlord allowing her to make a darkroom. Sean sent her cameras and equipment and she had spent time taking photographs around Boston with Connor and Murphy. She was also surprised when the agency she worked told her they were happy to take her back and her first assignment was a photoshoot in London.
"What did you do with the food?" she asked.
"I'm gonna take it over t'our place."
"Ok," she said with a nod. He picked up the container near his feet as he walked to the door and he turned to look at her and Murphy. Giving them a grin, he left and Murphy frowned. "He knows we want some time alone to say goodbye."
Murphy nodded. She walked to him as she slid her arms around his waist and he brushed some hair out of her eyes.
"I'm gonna miss you," Murphy said, softly.
"I'm going to miss you, too."
"Do you have everythin'?"
"Yes. I have my passport, my plane tickets, my keys, my glasses…"
She had found out she needed glasses to read and Murphy silently admitted he liked her in glasses.
"What about your contacts?"
"I have them packed in my toiletry case."
"What about your wallet?"
"In my purse with the rest of the things I'll need."
"Are you sure you packed everythin'?"
"You did most of the packing," she teased and he gave her a sad look. "Oh, don't look at me like that."
"I can't help it."
"I know. This was going to be our first Saint Paddy's Day together."
She moved her hands up and down his back as he sighed and he put his chin on top of her head.
"Look, I promise I will call you as soon as I get to the hotel. Ok?" she asked.
"Ok," he said with a nod. She moved back while he closed the suitcase as she went to get the rest of her luggage and they headed for the door. She saw Connor waiting for them near the elevator as she headed down the hallway and Murphy closed the door, following her.
London
Louisa sat on the bed as she looked at the clock and she tried to figure out the time difference. She picked up the receiver as she read the instructions on how to make a long-distance call and she pushed the buttons. She held the receiver to her right ear as she removed her glasses and she listened to the ringing sound.
"Hullo?" Connor's voice asked and she smiled.
"Hey, Connor!" she said.
"Hey! Uh, what time is it there?"
"It's a little after midnight."
"So, it's t'morrow?"
"Yep. Where's Murphy?"
"He's… Hey!"
She heard a small scuffling sound then Connor cursing and someone made a small grunt.
"Hullo," Murphy's voice said and she smiled.
"Did you really have to hit him?" she said and he laughed.
"Aye, I did. He wouldn't give me th'phone."
"Gee, now I feel like I should've stayed in Boston."
She heard him snort a laugh as she looked out the window and she could just see the city lights.
"How was your flight?" he asked.
"It was fine. Though I had this kid kicking the back of my seat most of the way."
"Did you say anythin' t'their ma or da?"
"No, but the stewardess did."
"Is your room nice?"
"Yeah."
"Take some pictures."
"Murphy…"
"Please!"
"Ok. Ok," she said then she yawned. "Sorry. I guess the jet lag is kicking in,"
"Then I'll let you go."
"I love you."
"I know."
She knew he said that whenever Connor was in earshot and she stretched out on the bed.
"Give Connor the phone," she said. She waited as she listened to the silence then she heard someone clear their throat.
"Hey," Connor's voice said.
"You ok?"
"Aye, nothin' broken."
"Well, I just wanted to say goodnight.'
"G'night. Oh. We told Rocco an' Doc that you're not gonna be here fer Saint Paddy's Day. Doc said we'll raise a glass t'you."
"Tell him thanks. And you two behave. I don't wanna hear you two got arrested."
"We'd never do that," he said with a laugh and she rolled her eyes.
"Promise me."
"Aye, I promise we'll try our best t'be good lads."
She ended the call as she placed the receiver back on the cradle then she went to get ready for bed.
Saint Patrick's Day
Murphy crawled across the floor to pick up the receiver after Ma had called them and Connor had gone to get some more ice. Murphy got off the floor when he walked to the peg where his black Navy peacoat was and he removed his wallet from the pocket. He got the piece of paper with the phone number to the hotel Louisa was stay at in London and he pushed the buttons. He held the receiver up to his right ear as he placed the wallet back in the pocket of the black Navy peacoat then he went to get his bathrobe.
"Hello," Louisa's voice said.
"Hey. Hang on," he said, placing the receiver on his mattress then he put on his bathrobe, sat on the mattress and he picked up the receiver. "I had t'put my robe on."
"Why am I picturing you walking around your place naked?"
"I am. I jus' took a shower."
"Ah."
He pictured her blushing as Connor went to lay down on his mattress and he sighed after he placed the ice pack on his sore dick.
"Is that Lou?" he asked and Murphy nodded. "Hey, Lou!"
"Hey, Connor," Louisa's voice said as Murphy held the receiver so he could hear her. Murphy crossed one leg over the other as he held the receiver to his right ear and Connor slowly closed his eyes.
"What time is it over there?" Murphy asked.
"It's a little after nine," Louisa said. "How was work?"
"Uh…," he said as he looked at Connor and Connor opened one eye.
"Don't you dare," Connor warned.
"Then you tell her," he said as he tossed the receiver to him and Connor caught the receiver. Connor sat up as he adjusted the ice pack and he held the receiver up to his left ear.
"Guys, what's going on!?" Louisa asked. Connor explained as Murphy went to get dressed and Louisa laughed. "Connor!"
"I was jus' tryin' t'be nice!" Connor said in his defense.
"That wasn't nice."
"Aye, you're right."
"Are you ok?"
"Aye. I'm puttin' ice on it like th'company nurse said an' I took a piss when I got home. There wasn't any blood in it."
"Good. Anything else happen?"
"Hold on," he said as he handed the receiver to Murphy.
"Connor?"
"No. Murphy," Murphy said.
"Tell her about Ma's phone call," Connor said as he went to take a shower and Murphy nodded. He went to sit on the couch when he told her about Annabelle's phone call and he heard her gasp.
"I can't believe she did that!" Louisa said.
"I can. She has a wicked sense of humor," Murphy said.
"So…?"
"So what?"
"Which one of you has the biggest?"
"Which one of us has th'biggest?"
"Ah, don't answer that! Mine has ice on it!" Connor called out and both Murphy and Louisa laughed.
"When are you going to McGinty's?" Louisa asked.
"We're going 'round seven," Murphy said and he heard her sighing. "Lou, you alright?"
"Just lonely."
Murphy felt a lump in his chest as he sighed and he stretched out on the couch.
"How did th'shoot go?" he asked.
"It went pretty well. I've worked with this client before. He was really glad that I wasn't letting what Dillon did stop me from enjoying what he calls my passion for photography," Louisa said.
"You know I won't stop you either."
"I know you wouldn't."
"Did you take a lot of pictures?"
"Yes, and I will show them to you and Connor when I get home."
"Good. Well, I better let you go."
"Ok. I love you."
"I know."
Murphy ended the called when he placed the receiver back on the cradle as Connor walked to the couch with their black Navy peacoats in his hands and Murphy got off the couch. After they put the black Navy peacoats on, they left the apartment and Connor closed the door behind them.
Boston Logan International Airport
Louisa pushed the luggage cart while she sighed then she saw Rocco waiting for her.
"Where are Connor and Murphy?" she thought.
"Hey, Lou!" he said as he waved his arm and she nodded. He half-ran to help her with the luggage cart as they left the airport and he saw the worry in her eyes. "Yeah, I know they're not here. The guys told me to tell you they'll tell you everything once they get back to my place."
"Is that where we're going?" she asked.
"Yeah."
"Why?"
"Like I said. All will be explained."
Every nerve in her body went on alert as Rocco placed her luggage into the trunk then they got in the car. She noticed he looked a little nervous as he started the car and he back the car up. They didn't speak as they left the parking lot and the car headed down the street.
Rocco's apartment
The door opened while Rocco brought in the luggage and Louisa walked in the room. She looked around as he closed the door, but he had checked the hallway to see if anyone had followed them.
"My girlfriend's not here right now, so you can use the bedroom," he said as he picked up the luggage.
"Rocco, what is going on? Where are Connor and Murphy?" she asked, placing her hands on her hips and he sighed. He placed the luggage down when he went to get the newspaper and he gave the newspaper to her. She went to sit on the couch when he pointed to the news story about Connor and Murphy and she read the news story. Her eyes widened as she looked at him and Rocco shrugged. "Are they still in jail?"
"No."
"Where are they?"
"I have no fucking clue."
"Why did you bring me here?"
"Murphy told me to."
"And you are sure they coming here?"
"Yeah, or at least that's what Connor said," he said with a nod then he looked at his watch. "Shit. I gotta go."
She watched Rocco leave as she looked at the news story again and she pressed her lips into a thin line.
"Assholes," she grumbled. She placed the newspaper on the couch cushion when Skippy the cat crawled from under the coffee table and she reached down to pat the gray and white cat's head. Standing up, she went to take the luggage into the bedroom and she closed the door behind her.
Later that night, Murphy, Connor and Rocco walked inside while Murphy and Connor laughed and Rocco hushed them.
"Keep it down," Rocco whispered and he pointed to the bedroom door. Something made Murphy walk to the door as he opened the door and he looked inside the room. Louisa was sleeping on the bed as she sighed and he leaned on the door frame. He motioned for Connor to come closer and Connor walked to him.
"Should we wake her up?" Connor said. Murphy shook his head then he closed the door as they went into the other room and Rocco went to order something for them to eat.
The sounds of voices, laughter, clinking glass woke her as she smiled then she heard gunfire and screaming. The night of her attack played in her head and she called out Murphy's name. The door quickly opened as Murphy ran in the room and he crawled onto the bed. She was curled into a ball as he gently lifted her into his arms and he rocked her.
"I'm here. I'm here," he whispered as she held onto him and she buried her face into the left side of his neck.
"Is she alright?" Connor asked while he stood in the doorway.
"Dunno," he said as she sniffed and she moved back. Their eyes locked as he smiled and she gently stroked the mole on his cheek. "Hey."
"Hey," Louisa said in a small voice.
"Sorry t'wake you up like that."
"What happened?" she asked when Rocco appeared next to Connor and she saw the fear in his eyes. "Rocco, what's wrong?"
"Uh…," Rocco said. Murphy helped her out of bed while he held her and they walked to Connor and Rocco. She gave Connor a quick hug when she looked at them and she leaned against Murphy.
"Well?" she asked. Murphy and Connor took turns explaining things to her as she nodded her head a few times and she gasped when they told her about Skippy.
"Shit," she said and they watched her walk to the main room. She looked at the blood dripping down the walls as she felt a little sick and Murphy placed his left hand on her shoulder. She turned into him as he held her and Rocco sighed. She looked at Murphy as he waited for her to say something and she moved away from him. They watched her go back into the bedroom as she closed the door and Murphy went to sit on the recliner.
The room was dark while the door opened and Murphy walked in the room. He could just see Louisa as he walked to the bed and he sat down on the edge of the bed.
"I'm not leaving," came from the bed as he frowned and Louisa turned to look at him.
"What?" he asked. She sat up as she patted the mattress and he moved to sit against the headboard. She snuggled against him as he wrapped his arms around her and she placed her head on his left shoulder.
"I'm not leaving."
"Lou…"
"Yeah, I know. This calling of yours is making you do dangerous and foolish shit, and I feel like I am in one of Connor's action movies, but I'm not going anywhere."
Murphy felt his heart slamming against his sternum as she moved her fingers up and down his t-shirt and he held her hand against his chest. They stayed quiet until his heart slowed down to a normal beat and he leaned his head against hers.
"Do your wrists hurt?" she asked. He could just see the bandages around his wrists and he shook his head. "Why did you come in here?"
"I had a nightmare. My head replayed those Russian guys breakin' into our apartment an' they dragged me outta th'room. I was back in th'alley and that big Russian had his gun pointed at me. I saw Connor land on th'other guy an' I clobbered th'big Russian like I did th'first time. But summat was wrong. Connor was lying there, but he wasn't lying like he was when it happened. I tried t'wake him up, but…"
She felt him shaking as he made a jagged breath and she went to sit on his lap. He wiped his eyes with the back of his right hand and she placed her hands against his chest.
"He's alive. Listen. Can you hear him snoring?" she asked and he nodded.
"it's jus'…. When it first happened, I thought he was dead. It wasn't until I checked him that I knew he was alive. I know I shouldn't've picked him up, but I didn't wanna leave him there either."
She moved to kiss his lips as he held the back of her head with his right hand and he sighed through his nose. He moved back as she got off his lap and he slid down on the mattress. She went to snuggle next to him while she placed her head at the center of his chest and his heart thrummed soft and steady in her ear.
"How do you think Connor was able to pull the toilet out of the floor?" she asked.
"He told me th'Lord gave him th'strength to do it."
"I'm amazed he didn't bleed to death from the cuts on his wrists."
"Me, too."
"Do you trust this Smecker guy?"
"We don't have a choice. If it wasn't fer him, we'd be in jail."
"You're right," she said. His breathing and heartbeat were lulling her to sleep as she closed her eyes and he felt her relaxing against him. "Murphy?"
"Aye?"
"Tell me again about where you and Connor went to get your gear, went crawling through the vents and how you happen to end up in the room with the Russian Mafia boss."
Smiling, Murphy started talking and Louisa slowly drifted off to sleep.
A week had pass since Louisa found out what Murphy and Connor had gotten into and she did admit there were days when she would worry about them either ending up badly injured or dead.
When Rocco had burst into the apartment while she was in the shower and he told them they had to leave, they had to relocate to his mother's house and she still saw the look of shock on his girlfriend's face when he told her he had killed her cat.
She didn't ask where the money she used to get them supplies came from as she moved the grocery cart down the aisle where she knew the cookies Connor liked was located as she placed a box of the cookies into the cart then she headed down the aisle. Suddenly, she had an urge to go down the first aid aisle and she looked at boxes of gauze, bags of cotton balls, boxes of sterile first aid pads, rolls of medical tape, boxes of antibacterial cream and some basic first aid kits. She placed some items into the cart when she went to the checkout and a cold ball of ice filled her stomach.
The grocery store was not far from the house as she walked down the sidewalk then she slowed her pace as she felt like someone was watching her. She looked around with her eyes as a cold chill moved through her and she headed up the front walk. She then noticed little drops of what looked like blood on the cement and she looked at the front door. She adjusted her hold on the bags of groceries when she headed for the side of the house then she went around to the back. She headed for the stairs leading up to the backdoor as she went up the stairs and she noticed the curtains were closed. The curtains were closed in the front as well and she used her foot to kick the door. She heard the door unlock as she placed one of the bags down then she opened the door. She brought the bags inside when she closed the door and she nearly dropped the bags on the floor.
She looked at the iron, a blood-soaked cloth, another cloth, and some first aid things on the table and she saw the blood on the table. Connor sat on the chair with his right leg resting on the chair and he had a cloth wrapped around his right hand. Murphy was standing near the table and she looked at the bandage wrapped around his left upper arm near his elbow. Rocco was sitting on a chair and he was cradling his left hand against his chest.
"What the hell happened?!" she asked. Murphy walked to her when he led her down the small hallway and they went to sit on the couch. She saw the pain in his eyes as she waited for him to speak and he took a deep breath, slowly letting it out. He wasn't sure what to say when he lowered his head and she lifted his chin. "Murphy, talk to me."
"I'm afraid if I tell you, you'll leave," he said and she moved to kiss his lips.
"I told you I'm not leaving."
"But you might have to. Things have… Things are…. Things have gone t'shit."
"Tell me what happened."
Murphy explained as she turned to see Rocco standing in the doorway and she could just see Connor sitting on the chair. She got off the couch when she walked to Rocco and she gave him a hug. She walked to Connor as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and he leaned his head against her shoulder. Murphy and Rocco walked to them as she looked at Murphy and Rocco and she stood straighter.
"Tout pour un et un pour tout," she said, softly.
"What the fuck does that mean?" Rocco asked.
"It means all fer one and one fer all," Connor said.
"So, we're, what, the Three Musketeers?"
"Aye," Murphy said, looking Louisa and she smiled at him.
After Louisa cleaned their wounds, found the pain killers Rocco said was in the master bathroom, put Rocco to bed and settled Murphy and Connor on the couch and a recliner, she went to clean the kitchen. She picked up the iron as she thought of them using the iron to cauterize their wounds and she placed the iron down. Sitting down on the chair, she looked at her hands when she placed her face in her hands and she started crying.
