INT. HOTCH'S OFFICE - 1.4
START SCENE
Hotch: please,take a seat
Morgan: I'd prefer to stand
Hotch: Alright. I suppose you know what this is about
Morgan: Prentiss?
Hotch nodded
Hotch: I noticed you asked her about the profile. It was unnecessary- why?
Morgan: you don't know?
Hotch: I have my theory. I'd like to hear it from you
Morgan: I think something happened in the Ivei case and she's been weird since.
Hotch: How so?
Morgan: Well, didn't you think it was weird she suddenly knew so much about terrorism and arms dealing?
Morgan scoffed
Morgan: And that call to freaking Interpol? What was that?
Hotch nodded.
Morgan: And then-
Hotch interrupted him
Hotch: The bar. The plane.
Morgan: Exactly. Something's up. She was cold in this case- she didn't even react to shooting Ridgeway!
Hotch: I agree. I'm going to have Garcia look into Lauren Reynolds. I want to know what the hell that was about. You take care of Prentiss- whatever it is, I'm worried.
Morgan nodded and left the office. Hotch returned to filing paperwork, but it was evident that Prentiss still lurked on his mind. His train of thought was interrupted by Garcia knocking on the door.
Hotch: Come in
Garcia opened the door
Garcia: We have a case, sir
Hotch nodded and stood, exiting the room in front of Garcia, who followed him
Hotch: Garcia, contact Morgan and Prentiss- they're with JJ
Garcia: Of course

INT. BAU CONFERENCE ROOM -1.5
START SCENE
Rossi and Reid joined Hotch and Garcia in the conference room.
Hotch: Prentiss and Morgan should be here soon, we'll wait for them to begin
Prentiss, arriving rain-soaked: No need, Morgan's just behind me
Hotch: Great
Morgan, also covered in rain: Hey
Rossi noticed a faint smear of red on Morgan's cheek. He also noticed it was the same shade of red on Prentiss' lips
Rossi, chuckling: You two want to tell us something?
Emily and Morgan locked eyes.
END SCENE - TRANSITION TO FLASHBACK
FLASH BACK
EXT. HOSPITAL - 1.6
START SCENE
Emily had hurried quicker than a fox out of that hospital room. She didn't even notice the light drizzle of rain now coating her skin and clothes. She rushed out of the hospital and as she ran, she began to wheeze.
Stopping to catch her breath, she clutched the arm rail of the metal bench outside. She was glad that this particular bench was obscured by the shadows and no lights from the street shone on her. She lowered herself onto the bench and threw her head into her hands, not unlike she'd done earlier when they were waiting for JJ to come out of surgery.
Morgan exited his car. He knew Emily was supposed to be updating JJ, but honestly, he was worried she was going to do more harm than good. As he headed in to the hospital, Something stopped him in his tracks
Morgan: Emily?
END SCENE - END FLASHBACK - TRANSITION TO 1.7
INT. BAU CONFERENCE ROOM - 1.7
START SCENE
Prentiss: What? No, What's the case?
Garcia: Ah, mon ami I wish you hadn't asked because this one is a particularly sad one
Reid: you say that every case
Garcia: Because, genius, they're all sad. But especially this one because we have what appears to be an arsonist slash family annihilator. The Kemper family of Michigan, including mom and dad Lana and Richard, plus little 7 year old Jonah. Preliminary ME report says COD was smoke inhalation.
Prentiss: Makes sense- the whole house burnt down?
Garcia, nodding: Yup. So forensics is a bust.
Hotch: What do we know about the family?
Garcia: Mom's the school nurse for Buttercup Elementary School, the school where little Jonah attended second grade and Dad was an accountant for several local businessmen. Mom was super involved at the school, she was on the PTA, bake sales and all. Dad coached Jonah's little league baseball team.
Morgan: So they're a typical American family
Garcia: Yup.
Reid: It's weird that an arsonist would try to kill a whole family- they usually care more about the fire setting than violence.
Rossi: So maybe this isn't an arsonist- it's a killer using fire as a weapon
Hotch: What makes the locals think it'll go serial?
Garcia: Ah, that would be because of the one piece of evidence that they did find at the scene which was a note reading "I'm helping" in the mailbox. However, our unsub is one smart pickle and must have worn gloves because there's nada on the note or mailbox.
Hotch nodded
Hotch: Wheel's up in 30.
