THE LOST CHAPTER ~ PART 3

Jimin stayed true to his word and didn't wake Jungkook up first thing in the morning. Jungkook wakes first and squints in the muted glow of the sun from behind the heavy curtains, rubbing his forehead. He's had worse headaches, but that's not really what's bothering him.

Our wedding. It keeps ringing in his ears and he can't get it to shut up.

Jungkook has spent so much time imagining what it would be like to be married to Jimin- an embarrassing amount of time, probably - even though married life most likely won't be too different than their current life together right now. They live together, they're each other's emergency contacts, they're raising fur babies together...

Maybe one day real babies.

Jungkook's head spins with how badly he wants it, wants everything with Jimin.

Jesus. He wants to be able to introduce Jimin as his husband, his spouse. He wants to combine their last names. He wants to propose to Jimin so hard, that Jimin won't be able to say no, and they'll both cry so fucking much, damnit.

Is that too much to ask?

He's been waiting to voice this out loud for so long, and now that it's been brought up, Jungkook has to sit on his hands to keep from shaking Jimin awake to talk about it some more, outside of a noisy bar and hopefully sober. However, there's one tiny problem that's making Jungkook's stomach hurt: he's not sure Jimin remembers their conversation at the bar.

He seemed coherent enough at the time, but walking back to the resort was an entirely different story. He was laughing at nothing the entire time, words slurring even worse than at the bar, and eventually, he sat down, refusing to move until Jungkook had to piggyback him home.

And when Jungkook had slid under the sheets beside him - fucking finally - he'd kissed the back of Jimin's hand and said, "Promise we'll talk about that conversation at the bar tomorrow?" Jimin had responded hazily with, "What conversation?"

and then promptly fell asleep.

What if the entire thing was just drunken nonsense?

Fuck.

Jungkook sits up all the way, letting the sheets pool around his waist. He thinks about it for only a second more before he bends over and kisses Jimin's bare shoulder. "Min."

Nothing.

He kisses his neck instead, nudging him with his head. "Baby. Wake up."

Jimin groans. "Fuck off."

He smirks and kisses his jaw. "I wanna talk to you."

"That's nice. I wanna kill you, though."

"Do you want me to order room service?"

"No, but I do want you to jump off that cliff we hiked two days ago."

"You mean... The volcano?"

"Exactly."

Jungkook laughs. "Jimin, seriously. Wake up."

"What could be so important that you had to wake a sleeping bear. Honestly, you have a death wish."

He lays back down and kisses Jimin's chest. "Always so pleasant first thing in the morning. I love you so much."

Jungkook can't see Jimin's face but he can tell he's smiling. "Shut up."

They're both silent for a minute.

Jungkook drags his finger along Jimin's bare stomach, tracing invisible lines, and Jimin lets him, sighing. "Can't believe it's our last day today."

Jimin groans. "Don't remind me. I don't want to leave."

"Totally sucks."

They fall quiet again until Jimin rolls over and burrows his head into Jungkook's chest. "Okay, why'd you wake me up. What do you want to talk to me about?"

Jungkook swallows. He puts his hands in between Jimin's shoulder blades and squeezes. "Wanted to talk to you about last night."

"What about last night?"

"Our, uh, our conversation. At the bar."

"Oh. Yeah, we should definitely talk about that."

Jungkook's relieved a bit, knowing Jimin remembers. "Okay, good."

"Is it, though? Is it good? I just can't believe you know every single word to Man! I Feel like a Woman and even have a damn routine to it and never once told me."

He bursts out laughing. " Jimin! C'mon. Do you really not remember?"

Jimin pushes his face in further into Jungkook's chest. "I'm teasing. Of course I remember."

"Are we gonna talk about it? For real? Because this is kind of, like, an important thing."

"Nah, not really," Jimin says, voice dripping in sarcasm.

"Jimin, I just need to make sure we're on the same page, okay? Because in my head, one day, I'm marrying you, and I need to snap myself out of it if that's not what you want. I could be happy without marrying you - I am - but if you truly don't want to get married again and you know that, let me know. Preferably sooner than later."

Jimin sits up and looks down at Jungkook, brows furrowed. "I said it last night and I'll say it again. This isn't all up to me. We're a team. This isn't all about what I want. It's about what we want."

Jungkook nods, looking up at Jimin. "Okay. What I want is to be with you forever, marriage certificate or not. End of story. But. If I'm being honest, I just think that'd be the icing on the cake."

"Mmm. Cake."

"Jimin."

"Sorry." He laces their fingers together for a moment, squeezing, and then lets go. "You know how much I love you, right?"

Jungkook nods again. "I do, yeah."

"This," he says, gesturing between the two of them, "is something I am all in with. I am never going anywhere. But I'm going to be honest and tell you I am so fucking terrified at the idea of marriage again, and it's not because of you. If anything, knowing it's with you makes it a little less scary. It's just the concept of marriage in general."

He shrugs, and Jungkook isn't sure Jimin is aware that he's rubbing his right pointer finger repeatedly over his left ring finger.

"I don't want to get married tomorrow, but. One day, I'll be ready again. I'm positive of that. Just as long as you'll have me and don't mind waiting." He pushes his hair back with his fingers and sighs. "I feel like all I ask you to do is wait. That's pretty selfish, isn't it. I dunno. It's scary, Jeon."

Jungkook sits up to meet Jimin's gaze. "You are the most selfless person I know." He puts his hand over Jimin's heart, dragging his fingers across his chest and letting them fall in Jimin's lap. "I don't feel like it's waiting, because I have you. You take whatever time you need and in the meantime, we'll just carry on like we usually do. It doesn't have to be a big deal, Min."

"But it is a big deal. It's marriage."

Jimin's hands are starting to tremble and Jungkook needs to remedy that.

"Jimin." He grabs Jimin's hands in his own. "You and I are about as permanent as it gets. We don't need a piece of paper to verify what we already know. You are the person I love most, more than anything, and even when I fucking hate you, which is often, I know you're what I want forever."

Jimin laughs at that. "Sometimes I hate you, too."

"Good, because we're in a healthy, functioning relationship and if we didn't hate each other sometimes, I would say something has gone terribly wrong. You're insufferable on occasion."

"You're one to talk."

Jungkook smiles. "I know." He lets go of Jimin's now steady hands and puts his on Jimin's thighs, instead. "You know what else I know?"

"Mmm. What."

"I know that we'll be together regardless of marriage or no marriage, and if it takes you a year or two or five or twenty or never, that'll be okay with me. Waiting to marry you isn't a deal breaker. As long as I get to have you in the meantime. Just. Keep me posted, okay?"

Jimin nods. "Christ, you're always so patient with me."

"I'm gonna add it to my reseme."

He snorts. "Probably should." He stares at Jungkook's face, eyes steady. " I know how much you want to marry me. I want to marry you just as much, if not more. Just. It'll happen, one day. Just not today. Really."

"Are you sure? You'd really wanna get married again?"

Jimin smiles. "I never thought I'd want to. But then again, I never thought I'd end up with you, either. You kind of changed my entire world, Jungkook."

Jungkook can't not kiss him, has to, so he does, slowly, gently, only pulling back when he has too many words in his mind threatening to spill out. "Can't believe you're gonna let me marry you."

"I really am." His eyes go wide.

"Wait, no, I'm not."

Jungkook drags his hands over his face. "How could you have changed your mind so quickly?!"

"Because that was the worst proposal ever!"

"But I didn't propose?"

"You basically just did! You just didn't use the actual words, 'Will you marry me?"

"Oh, okay. Jimin , will you marry me?"

"No! Fuck you! Still an awful proposal!"

Jungkook bursts out laughing. "Jimin, I promise. My proposal will kick ass."

"Hold on. Why do you get to propose? Why don't I get to?"

"Because you already did once. It's my turn now."

Jimin pouts. "What if I have some incredible proposal idea, though?"

Jungkook raises an eyebrow. "Do you?"

He pauses. "No."

"Awesome, problem solved. I'm proposing sometime in the future, you're gonna say yes, I'm gonna put a ring on it, and I'll do my Shania Twain dance at our reception. Does that work for you?"

Jimin pretends to think about it.

"Kind of just took all the element of surprise out of it, but yeah, I guess that works."

"Good." Jungkook knocks Jimin down onto his back and straddles him, pinning his hands above his head. "One day we're gonna be married and you're gonna be my husband and you're stuck with me forever. For real."

Jimin squirms underneath him, lifting his hips up. "Does that do something for you?"

Okay so I clearly don't know when to stop lol so there'll be one last chapter. And then that's it for real this time lol
