A/N: Warning: Some Saints gunplay in this chapter.
Yakavetta's house
The sedan moved down the road when the sedan stopped and Margaret strummed her fingers on the steering wheel.
"Damn," she whispered. She glanced at Connor, who was sitting next to her, then she glanced at the rearview mirror. She looked at Murphy and Romeo as she sighed and Connor opened the sedan door. Margaret turned the engine off as she got out of the sedan and Connor leaned against the side of the sedan. Murphy and Romeo had gotten out of the sedan while Murphy removed a pack of cigarettes and a new lighter out of the black Navy peacoat inner pocket and he held the pack of cigarettes out of Connor. Connor looked at the cigarettes then he took one of the cigarettes and he softly smiled. Murphy took a cigarette as he lit the cigarette then he held out the lighter toward Connor. Connor lit the cigarette as they took a few drags and they looked at the house.
"Want one?" Murphy asked, holding the pack out to Romeo and Romeo took a cigarette. Murphy lit the lighter as Romeo lit the cigarette then Murphy held the pack out to Margaret. She shook her head as she watched them smoking and she wondered what Connor was thinking.
"We can't go in through th'front gate," Connor whispered while he looked around with his eyes and he flicked some of the ash off the end of the cigarette.
"Not unless we wanna end up dead," Romeo whispered.
"Well, we could if you three would fit in the boot," Margaret whispered as she looked at the trunk lid.
"The what?"
"She means th'trunk." Connor said.
"Oh."
Murphy was looked at the darkness when he quickly looked at the wall surrounding the house and he took a long drag on the cigarette.
"We could jus' go around th'back an' climb up th'wall?" Murphy asked.
"We could, but how're we gonna know we're goin' th'right way?" Connor asked. Smiling, Margaret walked to the back of the sedan when she opened the trunk lid and she removed the rope with the grappling hook and four pair of night vision googles. She quietly closed the trunk lid when she walked to them and she held out the night vision goggles. "Why didn't you tell me we had night vision goggles!?"
"You didn't ask me," she teased and he gave her an amused look. After they had crushed the cigarettes into the dirt and Murphy placed the lighter and the pack of cigarettes in the inner pocket of the black Navy peacoat, Connor handed a pair of night vision goggles to Murphy then a pair to Romeo and she explained how they worked. They placed the night vision goggles on when she pointed to the tree line and they walked into the darkness.
A few minutes later, Murphy, Connor, Romeo and Margaret stood at the wall as Connor looked up and Margaret handed him the rope with the grappling hook. He motioned with his hand for them to get out of the way as Connor uncoiled the rope and the grappling hook fell to the ground with a soft thud. He bent down to pick up the grappling hook when he looked at the top of the wall, started spinning the rope in a small circle then he launched the grappling hook into the air. The grappling hook hit the wall then fell to the ground and he sighed. He tried three more times as he growled and he shook his head.
"Gimme," Murphy said as Connor handed him the grappling hook and the rope and Murphy looked up at the top of the wall. He spun the rope as he launched the grappling hook and the grappling hook sailed into the air. The hook dug into the top of the wall as Connor gave Murphy a stunned look and Margaret and Romeo smiled.
"How…?!" Connor asked.
"I know shit," Murphy teased then he pulled on the rope. Louisa had been mountain climbing during one of her assignments and she had shown Murphy how to use a grappling hook during one of their walks. They nearly hit each other in the head a few times and he admitted she was better at using a grappling hook then he was.
"Who wants to go first?" Romeo asked.
"Ladies first," Connor said with a small bow and Margaret walked to the rope.
"You just want to watch my ass while I'm climbing the rope," Margaret said and he gasped, giving her a mocked look of shock.
Murphy held the rope steady as she started climbing until she got to the top of the wall and she waved at them. Romeo used the rope next as he reached up and Margaret helped him up. Connor looked at Murphy as Connor nodded and Murphy handed him the rope. Connor pulled on the rope as Murphy started climbing and he looked up at Romeo and Margaret. They helped him up when they looked down at Connor and he tied the rope around his waist. He pulled on the rope when he started climbing and they helped him They sat on the top of the wall as Connor turned the grappling hook around, made sure it was secure and he lowered the rope down the other side of the wall. Once they climbed down, they stood near the wall and Margaret looked around with her eyes. She saw two guards walking near the back of the house when she pointed and they looked at the guards. Nodding, Murphy and Connor headed for the trees when they leaned against the trunks of the trees and they removed the guns from the holsters.
Connor looked around the trunk of the tree when he waved his hand to get Murphy's attention then he pointed to the guard on the left. Nodding, Murphy silently moved out from behind the tree just as Connor did and they took aim. They placed their fingers on the triggers then they fired the guns and the guards fell to the ground. They quickly moved to the bodies as they checked to see if the guards were dead and Connor signaled for Margaret and Romeo to join them.
"Shit," Romeo said as he reached behind him and he pulled the chrome plated gun out of his jeans.
"Is your gun goin' up your ass?" Connor teased.
"No, I just realized it doesn't have a silencer."
"Here. You can use one of mine," Margaret said as she handed him the gun with a silencer and he smiled.
"Thanks," he said and he handed her the chrome plated gun. Margaret watched as the twins positioned the bodies then they placed some pennies over the guards' eyes and they crossed themselves after saying a small prayer. After they stood, Margaret pointed to the house and they moved against the wall until they came to the corner of the house.
Connor looked around the corner when he saw the area was clear and he signaled for them to follow him. They walked along the wall as Connor looked around the corner and he saw there were no guard patrolling the front yard. He pointed toward the bushes near the front wall as they slid behind the bushes and they headed for the front door. Murphy looked out from behind the bushes from time to time to check for guards when he nearly stepped on Romeo's foot and Romeo looked at him. Shrugging, Murphy gave him an apologetic look and Romeo sighed.
"You'd think they would have more guards," Romeo whispered.
"I told you the Yakavetta family haven't been seen or been that active so there was no need for guards," Margaret whispered.
They stopped near the front door as Connor looked at the guard standing in front of the front doors and he saw the security camera just above the doors.
"Shit," Connor whispered.
"What's wrong?" Murphy asked, moving a branch out of his face.
"There is a security camera over th'door."
"Now what do we do?" Romeo whispered.
"Give me back the gun," Margaret whispered and he handed her the gun. She carefully moved through the bushes until she was kneeling close to Connor and her left knee was rubbing against his right knee. She felt the blush moving over her cheeks as he gave her a tiny smile and she took aim at the security camera. She closed one eye when her tongue peeked out between her teeth and he admitted she looked amazing. She pulled the trigger as the lens of the security camera exploded and the guard ducked.
"Fuck!" the guard said when he heard a whistle and he turned to the right. Connor had stood up as he took aim and fired the gun before the guard was able to reach for his gun. The body fell to the ground as they carefully got out of the bushes and Murphy brushed the leaves and twigs out of his hair. They moved the body into the bushes after Connor searched the body for keys and Margaret watched them position the body and place the pennies on the guard's eyes. Connor walked to the door when he tried to figure out which key opened the door and he sighed.
"Give it to me." Margaret said as he handed her the keys and she studied them. She used one of the keys to open the front door as he gave her a pleased look and they slid inside. They removed the night vision glasses as they placed the night vision glasses on their belts and Margaret closed the front door.
"Now what?" Romeo asked.
"I think we fight them," Connor said, pointing to the guards running toward them. They spread out when they started firing their guns and Margaret felt like the world had slowed down. She watched Murphy fall to his knees as Connor stood behind him and they fired their guns. What amazed her was neither of them were getting hit by the bullets and she saw the concentration on their faces.
Romeo was hiding behind a column as he peeked out from behind it then he fired his gun and he looked like he was screaming. She fired at two more guards until the bodies were spread out on the floor and Connor helped Murphy to his feet. Connor and Murphy positioned the bodies and placed pennies on the guards' eyes then they stood up.
"Do you think that's all of them?" Romeo asked.
"No, I don't think so," Margaret said as she looked at Murphy and Connor. "Do you remember where you were the last time you were here?"
"Aye, we were held in th'wine cellar," Connor said.
"Do you remember where that is?"
Nodding, he and Murphy led them down the hallway when two guards appeared in the hallway and the guards pointed their guns at them. Before they could fire, Murphy and Connor fired their guns and the bodies fell to the floor. Careful of the blood, they led Margaret and Romeo to the door to the wine cellar and Murphy was surprised to find the door was unlocked. Connor opened the door as they went downstairs after Margaret found the light switch and they stood in front of the room where Rocco was killed. Murphy and Connor looked at each other as the memory moved through them and Margaret lightly nudged Connor. He blinked his eyes a few times when he lightly pushed Murphy and Murphy nodded. Romeo guarded the door while they walked in the room as they looked around the room and Margaret walked to the back wall. On the wall was a photograph and under the photograph was written GO TO THE LAST PLACE HE WAS.
"Find anythin'?" Connor asked. She pointed to the photograph as he looked at the photograph and he frowned. The image was too dark to see properly and Margaret removed the vinyl gloves from her leather jacket pocket and she carefully removed the photograph. She held out a small plastic bag she had removed from her leather jacket pocket and she slid the photograph into the small plastic bag. She placed the small plastic bag into the pocket and Connor smiled.
"What does that mean?" Murphy said as he pointed to the message and they looked at the message.
"'Go to the last place he was'," Margaret said.
"Who are they talkin' about?" Connor asked.
"Uh, Guys, I think I hear someone coming," Romeo said as Margaret quickly removed a pen and a notebook as she wrote down the message, put the pen and notebook away and they headed for the door. She held up her right hand as she carefully walked up the stairs and she looked out into the hallway. She didn't see anyone as she signaled them to follow her and they went up the stairs. They headed down the hallway while holding their guns in front of them and she looked around the corner. The path between them and the front was blocked with guards as she sighed and she turned to look at Connor, Murphy and Romeo. Connor pointed down the hallway as they headed for the back of the house and they entered the kitchen. They knelt down as they headed for the delivery door when Connor removed the lockpick kit from the inner pocket of his black Navy peacoat and he started picking the lock. His hands were slightly shaking as Murphy and Margaret watched the doorway and Connor smiled when the lock made a soft clicking sound.
"Yes," he whispered and Connor opened the door. They left the kitchen as he closed the door and they placed the night vision goggles back on. They headed for the wall when Connor pulled on the rope and Margaret quickly climbed up to the top of the wall. Romeo followed her then Murphy and Murphy looked down at Connor. Connor tied the rope around his waist as he started climbing up the wall and Murphy took his hand, pulling him up onto the top of the wall. They heard voices coming from the shadows when Romeo looked down at the other side of the wall and he sighed.
"Do we have time to climb down?" Romeo asked.
"No," Margaret said.
"You mean we have to jump?"
"It's either jump or die."
Sighing, Romeo rocked a little then he jumped and he landed with a small grunt. Margaret landed next to him then Murphy and Murphy looked up at Connor.
"Fer fuck sake! What are you doin'?! Jump!" Murphy called out. He got out of the way as Connor landed and Connor grinned, stood then he held up the rope and the grappling hook. Sighing, Murphy shook his head and they headed off into the darkness.
The lights came up as the soft pinging sound filled the air and the doors to the elevator opened. Margaret led the way as Connor, Murphy and Romeo followed her and the elevator doors closed. They walked to the couch when Connor noticed the first aid kits, bandages and bottles of pain killer sitting on the coffee table and he pointed. Murphy looked down to see Louisa sleeping on the couch and she had their rosaries wrapped around her hands. Murphy quickly looked under his shirt when he realized he and Connor had forgotten the rosaries and he walked around to the other side of the couch. He leaned down while he carefully lifted her off the couch and she sighed, but she didn't wake up.
"G'night," he whispered then he carried Louisa out of the room and Margaret walked to the whiteboard.
"I'm goin' to bed, too," Romeo said as he walked down the hallway and Connor walked to Margaret. She removed the small plastic bag when she removed the photograph and she placed the photograph on the whiteboard. She removed the notebook as she wrote the message under the photograph then she looked at the photograph. He noticed how tired she looked as he placed his right hand on her left shoulder and she glanced at him.
"Leave it," he said and she saw the concern in his eyes. She placed the washable marker on the tray as he led her to the hallway leading to the bedroom and they walked down the hallway while the lights in the living room faded. They stopped at the door to her bedroom as she stood in the hallway and he gave her a small smile.
"Why are you smiling?" Margaret asked.
"I was jus' thinkin' how amazin' you were tonight," he said.
"You were pretty amazing yourself."
"Thanks."
"I still think you took a big risk."
"You mean when we positioned th'bodies an' placed th'pennies on their eyes?"
"Yes, the Saints are not supposed to be in Boston."
"Aye, I know. Maybe th'police will think it's a copycat or summat."
"What if they don't? Do you really care that little about your life or Murphy's or Romeo's? Or mine?"
"Hey, that's not fair. Of course, I care."
"Well, it's a good thing I know how to fix things."
"What does that mean?"
"It means, as far as the police are concerned, we were never here."
She closed the door in his face as Connor frowned and he placed the palm of his left hand on the door.
"Shit. Why do you have to run hot an' cold all the time?" he whispered. He walked down the hallway to his bedroom when he turned the light on, walked in the room and he closed the door behind him.
The bedroom was dark while Murphy rested on his right side and Louisa was snuggled up against his body. He had carefully removed the rosaries from her hands before he had gotten her into one of his shirts then he had placed her under the covers. He had stripped down to his boxers then he crawled into bed and she had rolled over into him.
His mind replayed the nights during their exile when she had to live in town and he had to go to bed alone.
"Do you remember when you had that nightmare an' I held you until you went back t'sleep?"
"Yeah, I remember that."
"I fell asleep, too. It was th'best sleep I ever had."
"It was?"
"Aye."
"Do you want to hold me like that now?"
"Only if you want me to."
His mind replayed the first night they spent in the house in Costa Rica and he slid his left arm around her waist.
"Why are you all th'way over there?"
"I don't want to hurt you."
"Th'thought of having t'spend th'rest of my life not being able t'hold you hurt more."
She had started crying as he carefully moved closer and she had snuggled against him with her head resting on his left shoulder. She had been so careful not to touch the bandages and he had fallen asleep with a contented look on his face.
"Murphy?" she grumbled and he felt her body tensing up. He moved his fingers up and down her back while he made soft hushing sounds and she whimpered. He didn't like seeing her upset as he moved her closer and he gently rocked her.
"I'm here," he whispered. She moved closer until her nose touched his chest and her eyes opened. She moved up a little so they were face-to-face and she could barely see him. "Hullo."
"Hello."
It took her a few seconds to realize she was now in bed and he could just see the confusion on her face.
"How did I get in bed?" she asked.
"I put you t'bed."
"What am I wearing?"
"One of my shirts."
"Why didn't you put my pajamas on?"
'I didn't wanna."
"Oh."
He imagined her blushing as he felt her moving her index finger along his jawline and he smiled.
"When did you get back?"
"Jus' a few minutes ago."
"Is everyone alright?"
"Aye, we're fine."
"Did you find anything?"
"We found a photo an' a message."
"What was the photo of?"
"Dunno. It was too dark t'see."
"I'll look at it t'morrow," she said as she yawned and he brushed the hair out of her eyes. He gently moved her head down to kiss her forehead and she smiled. She lifted her head as she placed her hands against his chest and she felt the rise and fall of his breathing. "Did you see what I left on the coffee table?"
"Aye, I did. An' I saw you were holdin' onto our rosaries," he said and she sighed.
"I needed a little comfort."
"You did?" he asked and she nodded. He rolled onto his back as she snuggled against his side and her head rested on the center of his chest. He felt her relax as her right hand slid down to his left side and he gentled moved his fingers along her right upper arm. She made a content sigh as she drifted back to sleep and he tilted his head to look at her. He felt her breath moving across his skin as he silently said a prayer of thanks then he closed his eyes and he drifted off to sleep.
