ACT 4 - SCENE SET 5
INT./EXT. SUV - 5.1
START SCENE
Prentiss: Reid, you're skinnier than me. I'm not sitting in the middle again
Reid: But I'm tall!
Hotch, losing patience: Reid, get in the middle. We don't have time for this!
Reid looked grumpy, but complied and slid into the middle of the backseat. Prentiss looked quite pleased with herself. Hotch jumped in the driver's side and Rossi in the passenger's.
Hotch switched on the sirens and they were on their way
Hotch: Garcia, address?
Garcia: Yup- sent to your SUV's gps. Ewing Park. Go guardian angels go! Garcia out.
Morgan chuckled. Hotch yanked the steering in sharp, angled motions and floored it. They were in a race against time and it was anyone's bet as to who'd win- them or the unsub.
Prentiss: What's this guy's story? I mean, why the obsession with ridding the world of serial killers?
Garcia: It says here that he was a student at UIUC studying criminology and psychology. He was expelled after several professors expressed that he seemed to focus a little too intensely on the serial crimes they studied and had some sort of violent breakdown when the dean of students tried to approach him about it
Reid: So he probably wanted a career in law enforcement, maybe even something like the BAU, but when he was expelled, his dreams were shattered so he took matters into his own hands
Morgan: Or matches
Reid, barely audible: Yeah

EXT. EWING PARK - 5.2
START SCENE
Billowing in the wind, a banner reads "Mills Family Reunion". Sitting at one of the picnic tables is none other than Boyd Mills. The team began to run towards him
Reid: Wait!
Hotch: Reid, what?
Reid: We profiled that he's not actually an arsonist- it was just his weapon. But now, now fire doesn't fit
Rossi: So what's he going to us as a weapon to kill everyone?
Morgan: A gun ala school shooter?
Prentiss: No, there's too many people here- he would be stopped before he got to everyone
Hotch: Plus he wants to take out himself too. He wants to end the genetic branch.
Reid: Oh no
In the not so far off distance, reid could see mills climb onto the center picnic table. His chest looked larger than a man of his height and weight should. Reid immediately understood
Reid, yelling: BOMB!
The team's eyes blared open and stared right at Mills. Luckily, most of the family members had begun to scramble away but Mills stopped the remainder in their tracks
Mills: Nobody moves, or I'll blow this place up right now.
Hotch began to approach.
Hotch: Boyd. We know why you're doing this
Mills: Then you know I'm doing the right thing. I've been doing the right thing. I'm making your job obsolete!
Hotch: No, you're not. You think you are, but you aren't. Those people, those families were innocent. Your family is innocent. You don't have to do this! They've done nothing wrong
Mills: It's in their blood!
Reid: No- you decided to become a killer the minute you set fire to that first house. Your family had nothing to do with that. Nothing in your blood made you do this.
Mills: I'm helping the world!
Reid: No, you're not. All this would do is kill your innocent family. Put the trigger down, Boyd.
Morgan: Put it down, and we all live to see another day. Man, you pull that trigger, you'll die too.
Mills: I don't care!
Prentiss: Put it down, and i'll make sure everyone knows how you helped the world
Mills: So you agree? I helped?
Prentiss, lying through her teeth: Of course you did. Don't people deserve to hear your story? Hear how much you helped?
Mills nodded. He lowered his hand, and slowly disarmed the bomb strapped under his shirt. As soon as it was clear to do so, Morgan ran up behind him and cuffed him. As Morgan walked him to the cop car waiting for them, Mills lunged out towards Prentiss
Morgan: HEY!
Mills: You really think I helped?
Prentiss smiled.
Prentiss: Nope.
Realizing he'd been tricked, his face contorted and he looked like he was going to try to escape out of Morgan's hold, but that wasn't happening today. Not under Morgan's watch. Morgan flung the car door open and basically tossed Mills into it, slamming the door after.
Morgan: Nice job, Emily
Yeah… Rossi noticed that "Emily" usage too. He winked at Morgan before heading back into the SUV.
