There was something beyond the darkness. A power that stoked a fire within me. I could hear my brother's chain trailing along the stone as he neared, straining to get closer to it. A low throaty growl echoed in the empty, a warning. He could feel it too. Something was coming.

"Halt! You may not enter." There was authority in his voice, but underneath, there was fear.

"I said Halt! Wait! No!" The smell of blood leaked through the door, ensnaring my senses. My throat pinched with hunger, the smell growing as more screams abruptly ended. I sniffed cautiously, picking up a familiar scent amongst the fear and pain. Mother? My brother let loose a low whine, pulling at his collar. She came for us. Teeth bared as a pounding echoed in the empty. Fist against the metal doors. Mother! Brother roared, tugging his collar hard enough to resplit his wounds. She is here! I roared out a warning, an unsettling feeling flooding my body. Foreign words spat angrily, a final pound echoing. She's leaving! Come back! Brother roared sadly, a guttural whine breaking my heart. Free us. Free us. Free us.
