Sonic Thanksgiving
-A Sonic Story-
A warm Autumn breeze swept through the landscape on a lovely November day, all was peaceful and everyone was enjoying the peace as the holidays approached. The city of Station Square was all set for Thanksgiving, the people had set up decorations and big events in honor of the holiday were being planned out and finalized.
One person in particular seemed to be having a great day and that was famous world hero Sonic the Hedgehog, he ran through the countryside past trees full of orange leaves that were starting to fall, breathing in the fresh air as he headed for one place in particular and that was the hillside house of Amy Rose the Hedgehog.
The two hedgehogs had been together for a while, ever since the day Sonic finally overcame his shyness and confessed his feelings for Amy. Since then, they'd had the best of times together and made sure not to miss out on any opportunities to spend their time together when nothing major was happening.
In the kitchen of her house, Amy, wearing an apron along with her Extreme Gear outfit, was cooking a meal that would soon be served. The turkey was being prepared, in fact, the turkey she was making was big enough to feed a ton of people. Not only that, she had two big turkeys enough to feed a whole lot of guests.
A knock on the door and a doorbell ringing got the pink hedgehog's attention, she left the kitchen and went to get the door, finding her boyfriend on her doorstep. "Hey, Ames." Sonic said casually and walked in, kissing her on the cheek before smelling the food, "Mmm mmm! That smells delicious, whatcha got cookin', Amy?"
"Turkey and roast beef!" Amy replied, hugging Sonic, "Nice to see you, sweetie!" Both hedgehogs walked into the kitchen and the hedgehog got a good look at what was being cooked up for dinner, smacking his lips and refraining from drooling as he saw what Amy was cooking. Man, she's quite the cook! The speedster thought.
DING DONG! The doorbell rang. "That would be the others." Sonic said and answered the door on Amy's behalf, greeting his little buddy Tails followed suit by Knuckles and his girlfriend, former Nocturnus prosecutor Shade as well as Cream the Rabbit, her mama Vanilla and both Cheese and Chocola Chao.
More folks soon arrived such as Shadow and Rouge along with Omega (even though he would not be eating), Vector, Espio and Charmy of the Chaotix, Big the Cat and Froggy, Silver and Blaze, Amy's parents and Sonic's siblings Manic and Sonia including his mama Aleena (both of whom the blue blur had not seen in ages).
"My brave, heroic son!" Aleena said proudly as she hugged Sonic tightly. "Been a while bro." Manic fist bumped the blue blur, who fist bumped him back, before Sonia hugged the hedgehog. Amy had some time with her parents, most notably her mama Emy Rose while Amy's papa Jon inspected the cooking.
As everyone gathered in the kitchen, the chairs and table all set up, they waited patiently for dinner to finish cooking and talked amongst themselves, either playing catch up and recalling past adventures or (in the case of Sonic's family and Amy's parents) getting to know each other.
"So, you're Sonic's mum?" Emy said, shaking Aleena's hand, "I heard a bit about you, mostly that you're royalty. But as for Sonic's pop, well, I am very sorry about his absence and why he's not with us." Aleena smiled, "Yes, it's a shame, but I'm not worried as I'm optimistic and happy for my son and his siblings."
"I'm happy about our daughter too." Jon remarked, "Especially when she's been a brave girl and has Sonic as a consort. I knew those two would get together one day and the missus and I are happy that they're coming together. We're looking forward to the big day to come when the vows are exchanged."
"Long ways off, Mr. Rose." Sonic said, gently elbowing Amy's pop. Big was petting Froggy in a loving manner, scratching the curious frog's head and whispering to him, "Take it easy, buddy. You can eat soon, that's a nice Froggy frog."
"Are we hungry, Shadow?" Rouge asked Shadow, who seemed to be keeping his distance from the group, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed just like whenever he brooded. "I'm immortal and not eating won't hurt me." The black hedgehog said in his usual demeanor, "Yet I can still eat and I intend to eat as much as possible."
"Mama and I have had Thanksgiving dinner at our place before." Cream told Sonic in her sweet girly manner, "She's very good at making turkeys as much as she's good at making cakes and other food." Vanilla pat her on the head, "That's so true, dear." Charmy seemed to be getting restless and more energetic by the minute.
"I want my food, I want my food, I want food, I need food." The bee said excitedly, flying all over the place and being annoying as usual. Vector grabbed him and shouted, "PIPE DOWN, CHARMY! Dinner will be served when it's served, HOLD YOUR DARN BEEHIVE JIVES!" Espio chimed in, "Patience is important, especially if you're a ninja."
DING! The cooking timer dinged, signaling that the food was done cooking. Being very careful, Amy took the turkey and roast beef out of the oven. At first, Sonic was worried about how they were going to feed so many mouths here. Thankfully the table and the room were big enough, Amy had picked her home very well.
Amy set the table, filling every last plate up with as much roast beef and turkey for the guests as much as possible, even making sure to give Sonic a chili dog while getting glasses of water and milk to wash down the meal. Shadow sat next to Rouge, shedding his edgy self so he didn't offend anybody, he wasn't like that.
The group took a good look at their food, noting that it looked exemplary, before complimenting Amy a job well done as the pink hedgehog smiled a sweet and bashful smile and giggled. Pulling up a chair, she sat down at the table with the others too. Since she was the cook, she led the guests in pre-dinner prayers.
Sonic and the others gave their thanks to the heavenly spirits, which somewhat included Tikal, for the bountiful Thanksgiving meal and that they'd known a relaxing period of peace without villainous deviants like Eggman attacking in a while after his latest plot was thwarted a few months earlier. Afterwards, they dug into their food.
Everyone found the turkey and the roast beef to be very tasty, Sonic felt thrilled to have a yummy chili dog with his Thanksgiving meal, something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. "Are we going to see the big parade in the city this weekend?" Aleena asked, "We've watched it on TV a lot and I was thinking about going there to see it in the city."
"You kidding?" Knuckles said, "Of course we are, I've been wanting to see it for a while now. I heard they had a Sonic balloon float at one of them a few years ago, its pretty cool they had floats in honor of us. We sure are pretty famous and people must be happy to see us in some shape or form."
"I can't wait either." Sonic remarked after finishing his chili dog and drinking some milk to wash it down before biting down into more of his turkey and beef, he'd heard about the Sonic Parade Balloon Float and seen it on the news a couple times, his hope was that it was used again in this year's parade.
"Me too." Amy said, "Ya know, I've been thinking about having a Thanksgiving picnic over the weekend, maybe we could do that after we see the parade. What do you think, interested in a Thanksgiving weekend picnic?"
"That doesn't sound bad." Vector gave a thumbs up.
"Yeah, I'd love to do that." Blaze nodded.
"I never did a picnic before." Silver commented.
Everyone knew what the white hedgehog was talking about in regards to picnics, he'd come from a ruined future where the world had been devastated and Silver had been alone with nobody else to see and nothing much to do. He'd been living in the present for a while now, experiencing things he never got to do in his own time.
"Our get together provides that opportunity." Blaze told her futuristic boyfriend and pat him on the shoulder before giving Silver a peck on the cheek, Shadow chuckled, "I will say this, "I never partook in a lot of Thanksgiving activities, mostly since I was inactive for years and I've been busy brooding and fulfilling my promise to Maria."
Everyone finished eating their nourishing Thanksgiving dinner and helped Amy do the dishes, a task that wasn't too hard when they knew what to do and especially since Sonic was the fastest guy on the planet. It took minutes and the task was lengthy, but in the end, everything was neatly cleaned up by the end of the task.
After that was taken care of, Sonic, Amy, their friends and family went outside to get some fresh Autumn air and either chat or play. The sun was slowly going down over the mountains and the sky had gone from clear blue to a lovely shade of orange with a bit of blue as darkness approached and a few stars slowly emerged.
Knowing they had enough light left, the group played a bit of catch, tossing a big brown rubber ball back and forth while dividing themselves up into multiple teams of either two or three. In Sonic and Amy's case, it was twos and, in almost everyone else's case, it was threes. Regardless, they had fun and, by the end, Sonic and Amy prevailed.
With the game over, everyone talked for a bit longer before deciding it was time to settle for the night, they would have more time to hang out tomorrow. Amy and Sonic saw their friends and family off at the front door, waving as Tails, Knuckles and the others headed off into the night to either their homes or to check into the hotel.
"Have a good night!" Sonic called out, mostly to his mama and his siblings.
"You too, Sonic!" Sonia replied.
"Stay safe and sleep tight!" Amy hollered to her parents!
Soon as the others were gone, the two hedgehogs sat down in the living room, having a bit of desert as they watched the latest Chao in Space movie series entry known as Chao in Space 7: Dangers of the Emeralds, where the Chao had to stop the Dark Chao from obtaining the Chaos Emeralds for malicious purposes.
The film was just about the same length as the other Chao in Space films: 1 Hour and 56 Minutes. Aside from a couple glaring issues, Dangers of the Emeralds was a fun movie like all the other Chao in Space movies that Sonic, Amy and their friends had been watching for quite some time now.
After the movie was over, Sonic helped Amy finish cleaning the kitchen before offering to sleep with her tonight, keep her company. Since she liked having his company, the pink hedgehog obliged her boyfriend's offer. "Thanks, Ames, I'm very thankful for that." The blue hedgehog said, "Happy Thanksgiving."
"Aw, thanks, Sonic." Amy hugged the blue blur, "and Happy Thanksgiving to you too."
They shared a sweet and tender kiss on the lips, embracing each other warmly. Ten PM soon chimed and both hedgehogs decided to get to bed and get a good night's rest for tomorrow, Sonic picked up Amy in his arms and carried his girlfriend to her room with her arms wrapped around his neck as they shared another sweet kiss.
Amy's bedroom was upstairs and it wasn't far down the hall from the stairs as they took a left, walked through a door with pink hearts and were in Amy's room, which was neatly organized with a made bed, walls lined with pink hearts and a few girly pictures and the desk was decorated with pictures of the gang from over the years.
Feeling content, Amy changed into a nightdress and Sonic lay down, thinking quietly about future adventures and what would be coming soon. The pink hedgehog popped into bed next to him and let the blue blur turn out the lights before they went to sleep with Amy in Sonic's arms after saying "good night" to each other.
Amy and Sonic woke up in the early hours of the morning the next day, taking note that it was Saturday. They looked at each other, knowing that they could not miss the upcoming parade. "Well," The pink hedgehog said, "I guess we better get going." She changed into a decent dress and Sonic put on his trademark shoes and gloves.
Making sure that everything in the house was secure and not forgetting to bring some food along for the picnic later on, Sonic and Amy left the house with the blue speedster picking up the pink heroine in his arms and taking off at light speed as they hurried over to Station Square for the spectacle to come.
On their way over to the city, Sonic made sure he and Amy picked up her parents, his siblings and Aleena before meeting up with their friends since they were going too. Once they got there, Sonic and his companions found spots in the growing crowd and waited patiently for the parade to start. Thankfully, they were a few minutes early.
Two minutes remained until eight, the time for the parade to start, the group could see the balloons and feel the excitement buzzing in the air. Eight o clock rolled around, the parade was expected to start but... nothing happened, no incoming floats or marching bands playing music, what was going on?
Sonic shrugged, there was probably a slight delay. Another minute passed, nothing big happened... yet! Big the Cat scratched his head as Froggy jumped up and down. "Uhhh, why isn't the event starting?" The cat asked. Wondering what the matter was, Amy asked the Chaotix to go investigate what the delay was.
Shortly after Vector, Charmy and Espio left, Sonic, Amy and the others quietly talked amongst themselves in confusion, hoping that nothing was wrong and assuring each other that today was fine. A few more minutes passed with no sign of the parade starting up, something almost felt off, why wasn't the parade starting up?
Just then, the Chaotix returned with a group of men in suits behind them. "Yo, Sonic!" Vector said, "Get this, the people of this city wanna shake things up by having us be part of the parade. A lot of folks have been clamoring to see us in a parade for ages now, dunno why, but hopefully it's a one-time thing. The people running the event are waitin'."
Almost surprised and nearly considering trying to decline, Sonic and the others decided to follow along. The group made their way through the crowd and out into the streets over to the starting point of the parade where the directors led them to their respective floats that they would be on for when the event kicked off.
To Sonic's surprise, he, Tails and Knuckles found a parade wagon made just for them with a mixture of blue, yellow and red, decorated with rings and a fake alter with a fake gemstone resembling the Master Emerald and Tails was delighted to have a miniature version of the Tornado on the float itself.
Not wanting to disappoint anybody and just roll with it, Sonic got on board with his two close pals. Close by, Amy got her own float which was actually a Team Rose float with both pink and purple as it was made for not just her, but for Cream and Big, who joined her on the float and were curious. Cheese joined them and so did Chocola.
Vector and his team received a float in the form of a movable fake version of Chaotix Detective Agency HQ, greatly exciting Charmy. Shadow, Rouge and Omega got themselves a parade ride in the form of a fake battle tank station and Omega was excited when he saw they were surrounded by fake G.U.N soldiers.
Silver and Blaze's float? Well, it was a white-lavender boat on wheels, almost fitting for Blaze due to coming from the Sol Dimension. Silver was curious and surprised at the same time. Shade joined Knuckles on Team Sonic's float, mostly since she didn't have a float of her own. Manic and Sonia, due to being heroes too, joined Sonic as well.
Vanilla and Aleena along with Mr. and Mrs. Rose decided to watch the parade from the crowd, despite the fact both parents wanted to be with their kids and probably be up on stage with them if any speeches were given and the parade turned out to be something else. Once everything was in place, the parade had begun.
The rides set off down the closed off streets and through the cityscape as an excited crowd watched, the marching bands playing their instruments and making up an epic parade tune, Sonic and his friends acted casual and waved from their floats as they passed the excited civilians while confetti came down.
Sonic never expected to end up in a parade, but since he was famous, might as well deal with the one-time experience. While this had been unplanned, the hedgehog made his decision not to worry about it until the parade was over, after that, he and the others would get the heck out of here. Hopefully the picnic food wouldn't spoil.
Police on motorcycles drove through the streets, escorting the parade along while some balloons shaped like Sonic and friends moved overhead, carried by a few people in marching band outfits. The parade went down the blocked off street of Station Square, taking left and right turns as the throng got louder and louder.
Eventually, it led into the city hall plaza area where a stage was set up with a live band on stage, musical instruments ready. The parade rolled along until it came to rest, the floats side by side, Sonic and friends disembarked and the bands kept playing as the heroes and Sonic's siblings took to the stage and waved to the crowd.
Very soon, the bands stopped playing and the gang ceased waving, all fell silent, but just then, an explosion rocked the area and a very recognizable madman in an Egg Mobile made his presence known as floats burst into flames.
"HA HA HA HA HA!" Doctor Eggman cackled, "Look what we got here, a Thanksgiving party and I, the glorious Doctor Eggman, wasn't even invited. ITS TIME TO MAKE PEOPLE PAY FOR THIS OUTRAGEOUS EMBARRASSMENT!"
Sonic and his friends leapt into action as people scrambled and Eggman deployed his robot army, the heroes got to work smashing every Badnik that the doctor could deploy while they tried to protect as many people as they could. Sonic went for Eggman, ready to take him on. "You got a lot of guts attacking us on Thanksgiving, Egghead." He said.
"Ah, Sonic the Hedgehog!" The doctor cackled, "PREPARE FOR OUR LATEST BATTLE, BEHOLD MY NEW AND IMPROVED EGG WRECKER!" Eggman pressed some buttons and a spike ball emerged from the bottom of the Egg Mobile, the ball was the size of a wrecking ball but way bigger and it looked... DANGEROUS!
Eggman attacked, the spike ball coming straight for Sonic, who sidestepped out of the way and attacked Eggman, attempting to dislodge the Spike Ball and send Eggman packing, but the doctor seemed to be tougher than ever before. All the while, the other heroes smashed robots left and right, dismantling them as if it was another Tuesday.
The fight seemed tough but Sonic managed to find a weakness and take out the Spike Ball before ramming the side of Eggman's Egg Mobile, staggering the doctor before aiding his allies in smashing the Badniks that were left. In a matter of minutes, the city was safe and Eggman was in retreat as Sonic and friends high fived.
"You may have beaten me, but I'll be back!" Eggman declared as he flew off.
Citizens cheered with delight before Sonic and friends began assisting in clean up up until the hedgehog's tummy rumbled and he decided that it was time for a picnic. He, Amy and their friends fetched Aleena, Vanilla and Mr. and Mrs. Rose before leaving the city and headed out into the countryside to find a suitable picnic spot.
The scenery today was lovely, full of green grass, a few green trees and some nice hills in the distance. Sonic laid out a couple picnic blankets and set up the still edible food from inside the food basket he'd brought along, in minutes, both he, Amy and their companions were digging in to a nice Thanksgiving picnic with leftovers from last night.
Along with leftover turkey and beef, Sonic made sure to have chili dogs too since he loved them so much. As everyone ate, they talked about the excitement of today that was the parade and the subsequent Eggman fight, wondering how long it would be until the doctor finally retired from trying to conquer the world.
When they talked about the parade, Sonic remarked, "Eh, hopefully it is a one-time only deal, I don't plan on participating in one again anytime soon. I'd rather sit back and watch the event than be in the event, not trying to offend anybody but it's my honest opinion and choice too."
Nobody didn't complain about Sonic's choice, they just shrugged and nodded. Amy gave the blue blur a warm embrace, telling him that, regardless if it was unexpected that they ended up being in the parade, Thanksgiving had been very fun...
