INT. HOSPITAL WAITING ROOM - MORNING - SCENE 1.2

START SCENE - FADE IN:

The team had just arrived back in DC from the case in Boston. They all were utterly exhausted but, more than sleep, they wanted to check on JJ, who was recently out of surgery. The team sat in the waiting room of the hospital, all slumped in various positions of half-sleep.

Hotch was the most awake, as expected. He was the team leader, he needed his eyes and ears on alert in case there was any change with JJ, or worse, they got called away to another case. Or possibly even worse than that, Strauss decided to fire them all. He definitely needed to be on the lookout for that.

Garcia had been there for about an hour before they arrived and she was out cold, slumped on Derek's shoulder, who was almost about to nod off. Reid had a crossword puzzle, but it was taking him much longer than he normally would need, probably because he was exhausted from the case, and incredibly anxious about JJ's condition. Rossi had his head leaning on his hand, but it was Emily who looked the most exhausted.

Becoming Lauren again had severely drained her energy and she was bent over, head between her knees with her face buried in her hands. She tried to calm herself with deep breathing, but it was to no avail. The combination of the stress of JJ being shot, and the stress of lying to the team, lying to Derek, Hotch, Reid, Rossi, Garcia, hell JJ, was making it impossible to steady herself.

Her near-breakdown was interrupted by Strauss walking in. The whole team collectively tensed up when Strauss entered, thinking she was here to fire every single one of them, or worse: throw them in a dark hole somewhere for violating some sort of secret espionage law that the public didn't know about, never to be seen or heard from again. Emily flew back into an upright sitting position, painfully aware that her eyeliner and mascara was probably smeared across her sweaty face.

Rossi snapped awake, and Morgan forcefully shook Garcia up.

Strauss: Relax, I'm not here to fire you all.

The whole team let out a collective sigh of relief

Strauss: Yet.

The team's eye's widened at this

Strauss: I'm just here to check on Agent Jareau. Are there any updates?

Hotch: Not since we've landed. She's out of surgery, but not awake yet. The doctor said she would notify us when she was

Strauss: Good. Notify me as well, I can't stay

Hotch nodded and Strauss turned on her heel and exited

INT. VAGUE LOCATION - TIME UNCLEAR - SCENE 1.3

START SCENE - FADE IN:

Will leaned over JJ, smiling

Will: JJ

JJ: Will? Where are we?

Will: I see movement in her pupils

JJ: Will-what? Where are we?

Will: Come on, open your eyes, Agent Jareau

JJ: Agent Jareau? Will - what?

Will: She's waking up

FACE MORPHING EFFECT - Will's face morphed into an unfamiliar one and the fuzziness of the background cleared up

END SCENE - FADE OUT:

INT. JJ'S HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY - SCENE 1.4

START SCENE - FADE IN:

Where Will's face had once been, was now a woman, DR. SUMMER RIVETT

DR. SUMMER RIVETT: Agent Jareau, you gave us a bit of a scare there, Welcome back.

JJ, coughing: What- what happened?

DR. SUMMER RIVETT: You took a bullet to your shoulder.

JJ, incredulously: I got shot?

DR. SUMMER RIVETT: You did. But no worries, we put you right back together

JJ: My team,- is my team?

DR. SUMMER RIVETT: In the waiting room. In fact, I promised I'd update them as soon as you woke up. I'll be right back
