lotr/Inuyasha
KagLover684's Note: I thought of this little one-shot a while ago and didn't finish it. So I decided to finish it. I had to. It would be a waste not to. In all honesty, I had no idea where this one was headed. I just typed what came to mind and went with it. I hope you enjoy the final result.
Also go easy on me with the elven language. It's my first time writing a crossover with the lord of the rings.
Elven speech will be italicized.
I suggest to familiarize yourself with the words first before moving on :)

Chapter One
"Na vedui! I knew to find you here," exclaimed Elrond, whose eyes were fixed on a feminine figure sitting on the bench out in a garden. She wore a beautiful shimmering white dress with a silver crown resting upon her head. Her long, silken black raven hair ran down behind her and pooled on the grass. The rays of the sun bathed on her form, giving her an ethereal glow. The woman was absolutely breathtaking.
Upon hearing his voice, she slowly turned to look at him. Looking into her cerulean eyes, he felt his heart fasten a little. Her enchanting orbs were hypnotizing. His arms rested behind him, fingers interlocked with one another.
"And I knew you would find me, eventually," the woman smiled brightly, "it seems I can never escape your gaze, Hir vuin."
Elrond let out a light chuckle then took a few steps towards her. "No, never. I am afraid you are trapped. May I?" He pointed to the empty space beside her.
She moved aside to make space and lightly patted the bench. "Do you even have to ask?"
The elf lord happily hummed as he took his place beside her. There was a second of silence between the two before he spoke. "I was wondering where you were. Why are you not at the celebration? Many were asking for you."
The miko smiled at his question. She expected it. "I could not be there, not yet, I think. I – how should I say – I had to think about a certain thing."
Elrond glanced the female, who was gazing forward. He could see she was deep in thought. He knew when not to pry. "I understand, Kagome. However, this is a celebration of victory against the enemy and you are the High Priestess of Old. Almost every kingdom is in attendance and I am sure not all of them came for the celebration."
This fact Elrond was sure of. Recalling the memory of almost every creature bombarding him with questions of the priestess, he scoffed. Never in his elven life had he explained one thing over and over again until his mouth hurt. Though the elf lord understood why they would ask of her. The woman was a known legend among every creature and generation. Her power, beauty, kindness and grace was known to all. More so known was her story and how she had overcome many of evil.
Fittingly, when a celebration of victory was announced, many inquired to attend the feast. He knew many mainly wanted to gaze upon the priestess, for it wasn't often she would be here. The raven-haired female traveled and never stayed in one place too long. For her to be at Rivendell for a few days was a rare gift to many.
"Ah, a thought came to mind about what we should do tomorrow," Elrond began talking excitedly, "I was thinking of showing you this wonderful place I made over the years. I know you would love it."
A flash of sadness was on Kagome's face. "And I know I would. But I am afraid I will have to see it another time, Hir vuin. I depart tomorrow, before the rays of the sun break the horizon."
Elrond turned to her in surprise, eyes wide. She was leaving tomorrow? "Wait. Why so early? Did you not say you were staying for a few more days?"
Kagome smiled sadly while lightly nodding her head, "Yes, I did. I wanted to, really but – you see," the miko sighed, eyes filled with sadness, "I wanted to stay here, for you, for my friends and those who have become family. It's been such a long time since I have seen them. Some of them have grown much since the last time I was here. I feel like I have missed vital parts of their lives. I thought I had time, which was why I wanted to spend a few days here. I thought it would give me time to be a part of your lives more. But I was wrong," she chuckled sadly. I am starting to feel like a moment in lives of people I have come to love.
Elrond remained silent as Kagome spoke on. Her words etching into his mind. He knew. Oh, he knew of her story and of the reason why she traveled.
"Has the Shikon Jewel moved you to another place yet again?" Elrond asked slowly, wide eyes on the female, who could only smile at him.
"Yes."
He let out a shaky breath. "I see. Where, if I may ask?"
Elrond straightened when she turned to him; her cerulean orbs bearing into his own. He blinked in surprise at her eyes. They looked tired, almost exhausted, yet he could see she was holding on. To what? He did not know.
"Somewhere far, far away from here."
He didn't know how to take her words. All he knew there was a deep sadness growing in him. He spoke lowly, "when…when will we see you again?"
The miko could only force a smile. Her eyes closed, "I am afraid I won't be seeing you in a very, very long time."
Elrond didn't know what to think. She had only returned to them not too long ago. Now she was leaving again and the possibility of seeing her again was much lower than before. Every time she left her travels grew longer and longer. That cursed jewel!
"Can't you stay, just one day more? Maybe somehow convince it to let you stay."
Kagome shook her head, knowing his plead would be impossible to grant. "Boe annin mened, Hir vuin. You know it will not let me stay. I have done what was needed of me. Now it takes me to where I am needed."
"But we need you too." Elrond spoke before quickly calming the rising anger inside him. It was not fair; to her friends, to her family. It was not fair to her. How long will the jewel keep her shackled to its will? He knew it was prophesied for her to be its guardian, but he had to wonder whether it was the jewel's doing to keep her for itself.
He opened his mouth to speak, but stopped when his eyes caught the sparkle of white gems. Kagome brought out an opened silver box and laid it on her lap. With his eyes widened in surprised, he glanced at the female for confirmation. The miko's widened smile and softened eyes was all he needed.
"Kagome, where did you get that?" Pointing to the familiar gems.
Her delicate fingers lightly traced the rare white gems; smiling at how each gem sparkled at the touch. "It was given to me by the dwarves. It seems they deemed me trustworthy. The reason why I have not the slightest idea. But they did. Their one request was for me keep it hidden from everyone and everything who sought it. Anything after would be entirely up to me."
"You kept their request…"
"Yes, I did."
"Do you not know who seeks the gems?" Elrond stood up and started to walk back and forth, still in disbelief the female had the White Gems of Lasgalen. "Do you even know who it belongs to? It belongs to –"
" – Elrond, I know," Kagome interrupted him, looking at the pacing male, "I have always known who it belonged to," before lowering her head at the shimmering necklace, "I know it would bring him great happiness to finally have them. Imagine, Elrond, imagine how wonderful it would be to see him smile again. I miss his smile."
Elrond came to a realization when she was talking. "You took it knowing it was his, that it was Thranduil's. Did you plan to give it to him this entire time?"
Kagome shot him a mischievous look, "You caught me."
He chuckled aloud, "My, why does that not surprise me. Then why did you not give it him sooner, if that was your intention?"
"Because I had to keep my word to the dwarves."
"Ah, yes, of course." The elf lord nodded in understanding. He knew Kagome was always one to keep her word, no matter what.
"Tell me, when will you be giving it to him? Will you be surprising him with the gems tonight?"
"You mean if he decides to appear tonight." Kagome corrected.
The lord shook his head. "No, you mean when he appears tonight. He will come, Kagome." That bastard better show, or else.
The miko raised her brows, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. Elrond was always trying to cheer her up, despite the odds. At least one of them was remaining optimistic.
Kagome's eyes roamed thoughtfully before shaking her head, "Well, the war has ended, and no one no longer seeks the gems. They said I could keep it once the evil is defeated. I think it is safe to say the gems are mine now. For your question, actually, that was one of the things I came out here to think about. I had no idea, until now. I have one request to ask of you, Elrond."
"Of course. Anything."
"Will you give it to him, for me?" asked Kagome, almost pleadingly. Though she would have loved to see him smile again, she did not have the courage to see him, nor that smile. That smile would deepen the pain she felt in her heart when he chose another; when he was happy with another woman, and not her.
He hesitated at the request. It wouldn't be right for him to give the gems. There would be questions. Also, It would mean much more if Kagome gave him the gems herself. She would accomplish much more than him. "Oh, Kagome, I cannot. It would be best if you –"
"Please, Elrond, please. I cannot face him. I don't think I can bear to see that smile again." Kagome admitted, eyes lowering to the ground. "I know I said it would be great to see him smile again. It would be great, really. I know it's been centuries since anyone has seen Thranduil smile. It's just…that smile would not be because of me." Kagome chuckled sadly, almost as if she feels guilty for feeling such a way. "Is that selfish of me? To not be the one to give him the gems because seeing him happy would be too painful to see?"
Elrond quickly knelt down on one knee in front of her. Greys looked into blues as he grabbed her hands and softly stroked them reassuringly. The pain in her voice was too much for him to bear. "Kagome, it is not selfish of you. After all you have been through, it is not selfish of you to feel this way. You are allowed to feel that way, do you understand me?"
Upon seeing her small smile, he decided, "I will do it. I will give him the gems. I will do it for you. Do not worry anymore, please. I – if it helps relieve some burden off your shoulders, then I will abide by your wishes."
Kagome squeezed his hands, "Thank you, Elrond. It means a lot to me."
Elrond smiled when he saw her smile widen. A wave of relief went through him. "Now wipe these tears from your eyes. It does not belong there." His hand went to softly wipe away the tears on her cheek.
"Lord Elrond," An elven guard appeared in the back of the two, and paused when he noticed his master's actions on the melda heri. "O-oh, Lady Kagome. Please forgive me for interrupting," he bowed.
"It's okay." Kagome reassured the nervous guard.
Elrond withdrew his hand, releasing a sigh while turning to the guard. "Did I not tell you to not interrupt me when I'm with her?"
"Forgive me, my Lord."
Kagome patted his shoulder, "Elrond, take it easy on him."
The male nodded, knowing she was reminding him to be understanding. "Right. Now what is it?"
The guard spoke, "Your presence is requested. It is time for the ceremonial toast."
Elrond sighed, nodding before sending the guard away. "I have to go and perform my lordly duties. I will take it with me and give it to Thranduil tonight." The lord made sure to emphasized that last word, which didn't go unnoticed by the miko.
The elf lord covered the box before grabbing it and putting it under his arm. He didn't know why, but he felt as if this was the last time he would see her again. The feeling tugged strongly at him and it fed the growing pain in him. It was breaking his heart. So he poured his entire being into one last deed. He leaned forward and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Kagome blinked when she felt a warm sensation on her forehead.
Elrond felt his eyes sting. It felt as if he was saying goodbye, forever. With much heartache he whispered against her forehead, "Guren niniatha n'I lu n'I a-govenitham. Namárië, Kagome," before leaving her in silence.
When he left, she let out a breath; one she didn't know she was holding. A hand went to grasp her chest. Her heart began to weep more, but she forced herself to hold it in. She had to. If she allowed herself to give in, it would be no good for her entire being. The miko will do what she always did whenever she was leaving; learn to let go, quickly. It was the only thought that gave her some sort of sanity of leaving behind people she had come to love and call family.
A cool breeze caressed her form. Her long raven hair flowing gently in the wind. Cerulean orbs glanced at the sky. A sad smile on her lips. "Tenna enta lúmë, Hir vuin. Namárië."
hope you liked it.
see you on the next one.
