I ended up writing this in 45 minutes, so it looks like I managed to publish two stories tonight. I got this idea in the middle of writing my story A Simple Misunderstanding when I decided to watch the final fight scene in the new BNHA movie, Heroes Rising. I thought that this would have been an interesting and emotional ending to the movie, but for obvious reasons, something that wouldn't work too well given the fact that there's still a story to be told involving Midoriya. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this little one-shot of mine.

Disclaimer: I own nothing

After the events of Nabu Island, Class 1-A has returned to school, happy to be away from villains and resume their semi-normal high school lives. While everyone sits in class, Ochako Ururaka notices two students acting differently.

Firstly, Izuku Midoriya. He sat at his desk, looking out the window with a smile on his face. The only problem was that the smile wasn't a normal one. The look in his eyes conveyed a feeling of both content and sadness.

Second, Katsuki Bakugou. While he would always ignore the goings on of the class as he was today, he'd usually do it by kicking back in his chair and sleeping. Now, however, the boy sat with his fists balled together in front of his lips, staring tentatively at his desk and bobbing his knee up and down as if he were in deep thought.

Before she could go to ask Izuku if something had happened, Professor Aizawa entered the class. "Alright class, we've got a lot to get through today, but first, we have an important announcement." The class erupted in whispers and murmurs, wondering if it had something to do with the villain attack at Nabu Island, and while it technically did, they wouldn't find out about that any time soon. Aizawa looked to Izuki who still had a content smile on his face. "Midoriya…"

"Yes, sir." He calmly stated, standing from his desk and walking to the front of the class. Clearing his throat, he began speaking. "Everyone, I want to thank you for everything you've done for me this past year. If it weren't for all of you, I never would have come this close to achieving my dream of becoming a hero."

Many of the students of Class 1-A began giving looks to one another, confused as to the nature of their friend's speech.

"That's why, as hard as it is to say this to all of you, I'll be leaving UA… Forever…"

"What!" The class erupted.

"Settle down! All of you!" Aizawa yelled. Turning to Izuku, he nodded.

"Thank you, Professor Aizawa." He said graciously before turning back to his classmates. "I'm sure you all have a lot of questions, but… I don't think I'll be able to answer them for you any time soon. Maybe ever. The most I can say is that… I no longer have a quirk." The class nearly erupted in worry and anxiety once more, but was stopped by Aizawa's glare.

Small tears began forming in Izuku's eyes. "I always wanted to be a pro hero since I was young. The number one hero. But even if I can't do that anymore, I'm glad that I was able to be a hero to at least a few people. More than that though, I got to meet all of you." He said with a glowing smile, despite the tears falling down his cheeks.

Among an uproar of his classmates demanding answers and explanations, Bakugou was the only person to remain quiet. If anyone had looked closely, they'd see his hands trembling and his eyes tightly closed, as if trying to hold in everything inside.

Once Aizawa managed to calm everyone down, he addressed Izuku. "I don't understand everything that happened, but I am sorry. I know how much being a hero meant to you."

"Thank you, Professor. It means a lot". He said, his smile still refusing to falter.

Escorting both Midoriya and the class out to the school gate, Aizawa kept an eye on Bakugou, noticing how uneffected he was by everything.

With all but one of the students in 1-A sharing a tearful goodbye with their quirk analysing friend, Aizawa was the last to wish him goodbye before leaving the gates of the school. "Stay out of trouble, all right, problem child?"

"Yes, sir!"

With that, Izuku Midoriya left the campus of UA High School, leaving an empty feeling in every one of his classmates, and even his teacher. Urging everyon to get back to their class, he was stopped along the way by Bakugou.

"Hey, Teach." He called out from behind.

"Yes, Bakugou?" He asked dryly.

"I've finally decided." He said, handing a small sheet of paper to the teacher.

"Decided on what?" He asked. Taking the paper from Bakugou's hand, he noticed scars along his arm, similar to Midoriya's, only smaller in both size and quantity.

"My hero name. I hadn't picked one yet." He explained, looking away from his teacher.

"I see…" He said, looking at the name displayed across the paper. His eyes widened for a moment. "I'm not sure whether or not I should be surprised."

"The hell is that supposed to mean, huh?!"

"Nothing." He said, shaking his head with the subtlest of smiles. "I approve. Now get to class… Deku."
