Prologue
It is almost 20 years after the rebellion led by Robert Baratheon and the destruction of the Targaryen dynasty. All the peaceful, serene lot has changed from King Landing from a clean tidy now to a slum and smelly. From having a financial advantage now under the rule of Robert Baratheon, the kingdom has a debt with Tywin Lannister the mighty lion but fortunately the king married daughter Tywin Lannister, Cersei Lannister who was once said to be the most beautiful woman in all of Westeros.
This is what Ned Stark aka Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, are currently trying to do. He tried so that Robert didn't spend any more royal money on prostitution and so on which made his finances run low, not to mention Robert's plan to hold a party welcoming himself as the Hand of The King . That was not all the problem Ned Stark had in mind, the problem with his daughter, Sansa, was still not over. She blames himself for the death of his direwolf then the problem of the mystery of Jon Arryn's sudden death, even though Grand Maester Pycelle has confirmed that Jon Arryn died of fever but his feelings say that Lannister is involved not to mention the letter from his wife's sister strengthens his thinking,
"Looks like you have a lot on my lord's thoughts?" asked Varys the master of whisper.
"Surely you know what i thinking Lord Varys?" replied Ned.
"Jon Arryn's death has been confirmed by Grand Maester Pycelle, then what else do you think, maybe I can help" said Varys.
"Thank you for the offer, but let me think about it myself" he replied.
"You remember the sword Lord Stark." Varys pointed at a sword stuck in the middle of the hall.
"The sword that is said to kill the only dragon that King Aerys has. A sword that could be said to be the equivalent of the conqueror's Aegon sword, Blackfyre. It is also said that no one can pull it out after the owner sticks the sword there, even King Robert to make a competition for whoever can pull the sword from its place will get a lot of gold coins "
"You agree with what I said Lord Stark?" asked Varys
"Aye. You seem to know a lot about the owner of this sword Lord Varys, "said Ned.
"Who doesn't know Alexander the champion of the people, he is admired by the poor for what he has done for the Flea Bottom people. It is said that he himself built the irrigation and sewers for the poor. He is also the one who teaches the children and builds learning facilities and implements a cross farming system which is said if we use this method we will get different crops and good results, all of which aim to help the economy of the kingdom and the people who live in King Landing and make it one of the suppliers of groceries besides Reach to face the coming winter. Of course you ask where did he get such a large amount of funding, of course Queen Rhaella who gave him the funds and of course rewarded with generous profits. He is said to be a member of the Targaryen family except by blood. He grew and developed with Prince Rhaegar and became one of the warriors equal to Arthur Dayne, Barristan Selmy and Jaime Lannister. Many people thought he was a Lannister because of his blonde hair and black complexion and that made Tywin Lannister interested in adopting him as a family before the king of Aerys refused while scolding him for trying to take away his valuable asset, "Varys explained clearly.
"You seem to know a lot about Alexander, Varys," said Ned.
"All the people know about this story even all the nobles know"
"But you see Lord Stark at this time the fate of our people's champion, nearly 20 years he was imprisoned in a black prison for refusing to kneel and being labeled a Targaryen pawn. If Lord Arryn did not prevent King Robert from executing him, then the poor people would rebel even if it ended badly. So Alexander was sent to a black prison while waiting for death to come but the new gods and old gods protected him. He is in good health and alive today, "said Varys.
"Looks like I'll take care of other business Lord Varys, thanks for your time." Ned Strak walked away from the Iron Throne leaving the room.
"Looks like you and Lord Stark enjoyed your chat time." Varys was a little surprised by the sound that was heard and then turned around to see the queen escorted by a kingsguard with him.
"My queen," Varys replied.
"You haven't answered your queen's question, Lord Varys," said Cersei in a monotone.
"Of course my queen, we have a chat about the owner of this sword, its origins and its current fate which is not very good," he said. Varys, who saw no response from the queen, spoke again.
"Then I'll excuse me my quuen" then Varys left Cersei and her bodyguard.
"Leave me alone" without a fight the bodyguard left the place and now Cersei is alone. Then she walked over to the sword that was stuck in the middle of the hall.
"It's been almost 20 years you've been there"
"Alone, in the dark and I'm sorry about everything that happened at this time" Cersei walked to the Iron Throne and sat on it.
"You once said family is everything even though Targaryen is not your family but you are even willing to sacrifice everything for their sake even after I asked you to kneel down and be part of Kingsguard and stay with me here in King Landing"
"But you refused to kneel and spit in his leg and chose to die."
"And look now, you were trapped there for nearly 20 years and left me alone here even though there was Jaime here with me but you are my first love and only you don't kneel to me even though you know that I am the daughter of the richest and strongest person in Westeros" she said then he standing and walking who knows where
Meanwhile, in the black prison that was lit by only one torch, a figure in the dark was seen moving his hand.
"Lord Stark, I didn't know a king's hand would visit this poor prisoner," said this figure.
"You know who came and your condition is good Alexander" said Ned, holding a torch that walked over.
"I can smell Lord Stark, you a wolf and like you can see Lord Stark," said Alex.
"Looks like the king is going to trouble Lord Stark. While you are dealing with the kingdom and he is busy prostituting, getting drunk and make more bastard in city, "he added with a mocking tone.
"You are aware of what you are saying. He spared your life "said Ned.
"All I see is Lord Arryn delaying my death, all he wants is to get rid of everything related to the Targaryen including the two little kids who know nothing about this. When Tywin Lannister brought the bodies of Prince Rhaegar's and Elia Martell son and daughter to him and you remember his expression, he didn't feel sorry, sad or guilty instead he laughed and praised Tywin Lannister for what he did" he wants to tell Robert what Tywin did was wrong and sinful but what he got. He saw Robert laugh with satisfaction at the deaths of the children. perhaps she thought that her sister's death had changed the Robert he knew a little
"May I advise you Lord Stark, whatever you know all about Robert is not the same anymore, he is not the Robert you know again and I was suggesting that before it's too late come home if you have time because the last Stark who was in King Landing didn't end well. You understand what I mean you better get out of here before the snakes are around you, "said Alex. Ned without speaking immediately walked towards the black cell door but Alex's voice stopped his steps for a moment.
"Remember this is Lord Stark, Winter is Coming" Ned then left the place after hearing the last words.
'You are wrong to have come to this nest of snakes they call King Landing, you are wrong to have come here and I believe a person with high honor like yourself would not fit in with all of this. You better not get involved in all this and the last Stark to come to King Landing tragic ends will happen again, 'he thought as he looked at the burning torch.
