AN: Hey!

Sorry for the late update!

In other news, WE HAVE HIT 100 FOLLOWERS! I would just like to thank everyone who has ever read, followed, favourited, or reviewed my stories. I love you guys so much and I cannot thank you enough. It is your encouragement that makes me to write. I actually lost a bit of interest in this story, but when I was at my cousin's house who I persuaded into watching Merlin, we were watching a season 5 episode, and it made me remember how excited I was to get to there, and now I want to make it happen! It's reminded me of my love for this show all over again.

I hope you like Beauty and the Beast! It was seriously one of my favourites of season 2, and probably one of my favourites overall!

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Merlin! I only own my OC, Elizabeth Malinor!

Enjoy!

I was suddenly called into the council chambers because a guest from another kingdom had arrived, and apparently I needed to be there to greet them. I was really getting sick of this.

I sat next to Morgana as a woman walked in, a weird looking man behind her. Uther stood up, and said, "Lady Catrina, is it really you?"

"I can hardly believe it myself," Catrina answered.

"We had tidings from the north that the House of Tregor had fallen to invaders," Uther told her.

"All that you heard was true, My Lord, and worse," Catrina said.

"Your father, the King?" Uther asked in a tone that suggested he was asking if he was alive.

Catrina looked down in sadness. "Gone, Sire. The enemy attacked without warning. We were outnumbered five to one. He could not endure. I would never have survived had it not been for my faithful servant Jonas," She turned towards the man standing beside her, and he was giving me all sorts of weird vibes. "But we did survive, and we have made it this far..."

Catrina swooned, and Uther stepped forward to grab her. I tried my best not to roll my eyes. Was she trying to seduce Uther? Because if she was...I shuddered at the thought.

"Forgive me, My Lord. I fear my trials have taken a toll," She said.

"Your sufferings are beyond imagining, My Lady. It would be an honour to help you in any way we can," Uther told her.

"A bed for the night would be most welcome," Catrina suggested.

Uther nodded. "Then consider yourselves our esteemed guests. It's the least we can do."

Ugh! I hated when we had guests stay in the castle! That meant I had to be extra nice and polite and ugh it was the worst.

After everyone was dismissed, I went looking for Merlin, who was walking with Gaius. "What do you think of the Lady Catrina?" I asked him.

"She's very brave," Merlin said.

"Yes," Gaius added, though it looked like he wasn't really paying attention to what Merlin was saying.

"It's just terrible what she's been through," Merlin continued.

"Terrible, indeed," Gaius said in the same tone.

Merlin finally seemed to notice, and asked, "What's wrong?"

Gaius quickly dismissed it. "Nothing."

Merlin was about to go further when Arthur's voice called, "Merlin! Job for you."

Merlin rolled his eyes before saying, "Work, work, work." He waved goodbye to me, and I waved back, before turning back to Gaius. "Are you really okay, Gaius?"

Gaius was about to repeat himself when I put a hand up, stopping him. "Gaius, Merlin might be like a son to you, but I've known you far longer. There is something troubling you."

He was silent, and I just shook my head. "You don't have to tell me anything, but to let you know, I'd love to hear it," I said, turning on my heel to go back to my room.

That night, Uther, Arthur, Morgana and I had dinner with the Lady Catrina. I had to admit, after being in her presence for a while, something was throwing me off too. Maybe it was a memory trying to resurface?

Well, whatever it was, it was annoying as hell.

"Well, this is wonderful. Thank you," Catrina said to Uther, pulling me away from trying to yank the memory out mentally.

"It's an honour," Uther assured her. "The Houses of Tregor and Pendragon have been allies for as...well, as long as anyone can remember."

"My father often spoke of you, My Lord," Catrina said.

"And I will remember him always," Uther responded.

"I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet him," Arthur spoke up. I was about to say, "Same here," but it probably wouldn't have sounded really olden timey, would it?

"I'm sorry too. For the House of Tregor is no more," Catrina said sadly, looking down at her hands.

"Well, no, Catrina, it lives on in you," Uther protested.

"I only wish that were true," Catrina said, and if I wasn't suspicious of her before, I certainly was now. A person grieving for her kingdom would be happy with any kind of encouragement, and she was just pushing it away.

"It is, My Lady," Uther insisted. "Your courage, your modesty. And you are as you always were, ever since you were a child."

"Ah, I fear I am much changed since then, My Lord," Catrina said with a small smile.

I tried not to roll my eyes at her painfully obvious flirting as Uther said, "Oh, yes, it's true, you are far more beautiful now."

I nearly snorted, but I quickly covered it by coughing, waving Morgana off when she asked if I was okay. To be honest, I felt really weird watching a grown man flirt.

Apparently Arthur was feeling the same way because he yawned, and it was obvious that he was faking. "I'm sorry, hard day's training," He explained. "If you'll excuse me."

Catrina nodded. "Of course."

Uther nodded to Arthur in goodbye, and Morgana spoke up. "I should retire myself." She stood up, turning towards me. "Let's go, Lizzie."

I looked down at my still kinda full plate. I felt too awkward at the beginning of dinner to eat, but once I got over it, I started eating properly. "But I'm not fin-" I didn't even get to finish that sentence when Morgana grabbed my arm, hard, pulling me up. "Well, goodnight, my Lord," I said, nodding my head to Uther. I nodded my head to Catrina. "My Lady."

And with that, Morgana practically dragged me out of the room, me looking longingly after my food.

"I'm telling you Merlin, it was completely bizzare," I reported to him and Gaius later that night. After I left dinner, I came over here. I always had my days for Morgana and Gwen, and my nights were for Merlin and Gaius. I don't know when it started happening like that, but now I could just walk in whenever I want and they didn't seem to care. I mean, they never did before, but still. It felt weird not knocking. "The Lady Catrina seemed a little bit odd." They both looked at me. "In the best way," I quickly added.

Merlin shook his head. "No, you're right. There's something really different about the Lady Catrina."

Gaius looked between the two of us, raising his eyebrows. "Oh?"

"Most of Uther's guests just treat me like I'm dirt in their shoes, but she was really nice, even after all she's been through," Merlin told us.

"Yes. She always was very gracious," Gaius commented, and Merlin and I shared looks. Gaius knew her?

"You've met her before?" Merlin asked, voicing my thoughts.

"Oh, it was many years ago," Gaius said with a wave of his hand. "I doubt that she would remember. Now, Merlin, I've got a job for you."

Merlin rolled his eyes. "Does it ever end?"

I laughed as Gaius held up a bottle full of potion towards Merlin. "Give this to the Lady Catrina with my compliments."

Merlin took it in his hands. "What is it?"

"She'll know what it is," was all that Gaius said.

"But what is it?" Merlin tried again, and when Gaius gave him a look, he put his hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay."

After Merlin left, I turned my head towards Gaius. "But really, what is it?"

Gaius just laughed, shaking his head. He patted my head affectionately and went back to working on whatever he was working on. I'd never really understood a physician's work. Really, whenever I was in here, I just looked at the books with more pictures than words, because it was in Latin and I took French in school. Fat lot of good it did!

I was looking at one of the older books Gaius had taken off of his bookshelf for me (it was an endless supply, literally) when the door opened, and Merlin walked back in, slamming the bottle on the table in front of Gaius. "She didn't ask for it. She didn't need it. She didn't even want it," Merlin told him.

Gaius looked thoughtful. "Interesting."

"What is?" I asked. It really sucked not remembering what happened in the show, because I didn't have the advantage anymore, but this was still Merlin. Not a lot of good things happen here.

"When I treated her as a child, it was for an incurable disease. Catrina had a rare bone disorder affecting her joints," Gaius told us, and Merlin and I exchanged looks, and we both looked really surprised. "She often had difficulty walking, especially after a long ride. My tonic was the only thing that brought her relief." The girl who was walking swiftly up to Uther just this morning, had difficulty walking?

"She walks as well as you or I," Merlin argued.

The old physician nodded. "So I noticed."

"So...the tonic was some kind of test?" Merlin clarified.

Gaius nodded. "Indeed. And I'm starting to wonder if the Lady Catrina is really the Lady Catrina at all."

The next day, Gaius sent Merlin out to do a little investigating. I wanted to go with him, but he told me I wasn't as skilled in being quiet as him. I wasn't as skilled? This coming from a man who almost fell off of his horse because there was a bee buzzing around him.

Anyway, I was with Gaius in his chambers when Merlin finally got back. We both instantly perked up. "What did you find?" Gaius asked as Merlin approached us.

"Something wasn't right in there," Merlin reported. "There was this strange smell, and I could've sworn the Lady Catrina's bed hadn't been slept in. And there was something else."

"What?" I pressed.

"Jonas," Merlin said.

"Her manservant?" I asked, and Merlin nodded.

"As I was leaving, I thought I saw something..." He trailed off, but brought himself back. "This is gonna sound mad, but it looked like Jonas had a tail."

Mine and Gaius's eyebrows shot all the way up. A tail? What the hell was up with these people? It was like Camelot was a animal shelter that brought in the stray animals that looked cute but ended up totally insane and dangerous. "A tail? You sure?" Gaius asked.

Merlin looked less sure of himself. "Well, I mean, I only glimpsed it for a moment. I-I mean, I could be wrong..."

Gaius shook his head. "No, no, I believe you."

I nodded. "So do I. I always believe you and I always will," I told Merlin with a smile.

He flushed slightly before turning back to face Gaius. "Merlin, we must keep an eye on her. A very close eye."

"I have a magnifying glass," I said, picking up the one that Gaius kept on the table. Merlin and Gaius looked at me funnily, so I slowly lowered it. "You didn't mean it literally, did you?"

The next night, Merlin found out more about Lady Catrina, and he got me from my room before we went back over to his chambers. He quickly explained how he had followed the Lady Catrina down under the castle, where she turned into something that wasn't the Lady Catrina at all. She was a hideous troll, apparently, who was sleeping in the stables with the horses.

"What you saw is seldom seen, Merlin," Gaius explained. "Trolls despise all other living things, especially humans. They prefer to lurk in the darkness of their nests, feasting on rotten filth."

"Stop right there Gaius, or my dinner is gonna come right back up," I said putting a hand up. The idea of the Lady Catrina a troll, eating rotten food...ugh. I always had the weird feeling there was something wrong with her, and I was right! Ha ha! Merlin insisted that Gaius was right first, because he voiced his thoughts before I did. Well, if that's how he wanted to play.

"And Jonas? Is he a troll too?" Merlin asked.

"Who can tell what manner of creature he is," Gaius guessed.

"So you're telling me in this huge library, there isn't one book that could suggest what Jonas is?" I asked Gaius, who nodded.

"That is what I am saying, Elizabeth," He said.

Wow, I've forgotten how much I missed modern sarcasm. I couldn't even make half the jokes in my head out loud without getting some of the weirdest looks in my life.

"But that's so weird," I started. "If trolls prefer filthy caves so much, why is there one in Camelot?"

"Trolls are greedy," Gaius started. "Lady Catrina's like the rest of her kind. She lusts after wealth and power."

It dawned on Merlin and I at the same time. "Uther's wealth and power," Merlin suggested.

"We've reached the point of no return," Gaius decided. "Uther has to be told."

Merlin raised his eyebrows. "You're going to tell Uther that his lady friend's a troll?"

"That's exactly what I'm going to do," Gaius said, sticking out his chin confidently.

I however, scoffed. "I certainly wouldn't want to be in your place, Gaius." More power to you.

"Good luck," Merlin said, which was probably more encouraging than what I said.

"Thank you, Merlin," Gaius said, before heading out the door.

Merlin immediately went for his spellbook, and we played our favourite game. We started doing it maybe a month ago when Merlin and I were hanging out. He was trying to do a spell to wash the clothes, and when he looked away after he found it, I flipped to the next page and he read that spell instead, which turned his laundry into a flock of birds. Gaius came home to a laughing me, a grumpy Merlin, and about twenty birds flying around in his room.

Merlin opened the book and flipped it open to a random page. Once he did, he gestured that the book was all mine. I squeezed my eyes shut, before slamming my finger on one of the spells in the book. I opened my eyes, and I covered up what the spell did with my hand as Merlin read it aloud.

When he did, the window by the sink shattered, and Merlin and I whipped our heads at the sound. We both visibly winced, looking at each other before Merlin incantated a spell to fix the window.

Now that I knew I had magic, Merlin and I had been working bit by bit per day to strengthen it. I mean, I couldn't do anything really cool, but occasionally I could spark a flame or move a glass slightly. Whenever I got discouraged, Merlin always managed to cheer me up with a funny spell. My favourite one was when he changed his clothes into a jester uniform and did a silly trick, but this time he did a spell that literally made it look like he grabbed my nose. I laughed gleefully, and just as Merlin and I were about to go again, the sound of the door made us freeze in our spots. We quickly recovered and Merlin covered the magic book with some of the other zillion books Gaius kept on his desk.

When the door opened, it was just Gaius that entered, which made Merlin and I sigh in relief. When he walked in, he looked discouraged, and it was clear that Uther didn't believe him about Catrina. "Please don't say anything, Merlin," He said, which confirmed my thoughts.

"I wasn't going to say anything," Merlin said innocently.

"Don't be such a liar, you so were," I quickly said, and before Merlin could respond to me, Gaius spoke up. "You were going to say, 'I told you so.'"

Gaius and I gave Merlin a double "bitch please" look, and he cracked. "Okay, I was. But I...I'm not going to now."

"Uther didn't like you insulting his lady friend, didn't he?" I asked, placing my hand in my chin.

Merlin rolled his eyes. "Augh, you see? I told you..." He started, but stopped after Gaius gave him a look and he realized what he was about to say. "Sorry."

"But I know him, Merlin," Gaius said, sitting in the chair beside me. "He's a proud man, but he's not stupid. He will reflect on what I said, I'm sure he will."

"Let's hope you're right," Merlin said.

"Or Camelot will be playing house to a Lady Troll for who knows how long," I added.

The next day, Gaius tried again, but it went even worse than the last time. Apparently Uther had extended Catrina's stay indefinitely, which pretty much meant she was gonna be around all the time, a perfect opportunity for her to pull a fast one.

"It's no good. I can tell him she's a troll until I'm blue in the face, he simply won't listen. He sees a charming, beautiful woman," Gaius said.

"Yeah, with a body like a tree trunk," Merlin added, which made me snort with laughter.

"But we only know that because you saw her in the troll form," Gaius pointed out.

"So, what are we gonna do?" I asked.

"We must open Uther's eyes, show her for what she really is," Gaius suggested.

Merlin raised his eyebrows. "Using magic?"

"It's the only way to reveal her true form," Gaius revealed.

"But she never leaves his side," Merlin pointed out.

Gaius nodded. "I know."

Merlin widened his eyes when he realizes what Gaius wanted him to do. "You want me to use magic in front of the King?"

"Yes, Merlin, I do," Gaius said.

"Are you serious?" I asked. "Sure, Merlin's a klutz and sometimes just downright foolish but you're pretty much signing his death certificate," I said, and I looked over at Merlin who was looking at me in disbelief. I put my hand on his knee. "And I mean that in the best way possible."

Merlin just shook his head. "She's right, I'd never get away with it."

"You know, I never get tired of hearing that I'm right," I said, leaning back into my chair.

"I'm sorry, Merlin," Gaius apologized. "I know how dangerous this is, but we cannot allow it to gain any further control over the King. Who knows what the consequences might be?"

"Just one problem," Merlin said. "I know nothing about troll magic."

Gaius picked up a book from the closest shelf. "Then we have work to do."

Gaius handed that book to Merlin and held out another one in front of me. "Do I really have to help?" I asked.

"You don't have to, unless you want Troll living next to your bedroom," Gaius said.

That was all I needed to practically rip the book out of his hands. "What page do I start on?"

It took a lot of time and a lot of reading (which was just me trying to read some of the Latin that I did know) when Merlin spoke up.

"Here," He said, holding out the book.

"Oh thank God," I said, putting my book down. "That was worse than a council meeting."

Merlin just rolled his eyes at me as he went back to the book. "The spell of revelation. By which the true nature of the thing may be revealed."

"But this applies only to objects, things, not to living creatures," Gaius pointed out.

The raven haired boy nodded. "I know. The principle's the same, isn't it?" Merlin asked, and Gaius started to consider it. "I have to try it," Merlin insisted. "What other choice do we have?"

Gaius finally nodded. "Very well. But Merlin, choose your moment carefully. Trolls are vicious creatures."

There was a knock at the door, and Gaius called, "Come in!"

One of the guards walked in and said, "The King requests your presence in the council chambers."

The three of us exchanged looks of confusion, but we got up to go to the council chambers. Gaius walked a bit in front of Merlin and I, so I leaned over and whispered, "Promise me you'll be careful."

"I'll try," He answered.

"No," I said, a little harshly, causing him to look over at me. "You have to promise. Don't get caught."

After a moment's hesitation, he nodded. "I promise."

I gave his hand a quick squeeze before we entered the council chamber, and I went over to the front to stand with Morgana and Gwen.

"Do either of you have any idea what's going on?" I asked.

They both shook their heads. "Uther just requested that we be here," Morgana explained.

Before I could say anything else, the door opened, and Uther walked in.

With Catrina on his arm.

So not good.

I curtsied when they passed me, and they stopped at the front of the room. I looked over to Morgana, and we exchanged looks of confusion. Whatever was going on, it had to do with Catrina so it obviously wasn't good.

"Thank you all for coming," Uther said, beaming (yeah, Uther beaming). "You are, no doubt, wondering why I have gathered you here today," He said, and almost everyone in the room nodded at the same time. "Though we live in dark times, today I bring you light, and love," He said, looking over to Catrina. The way he looked at her and said love could only mean one thing.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," I growled, and I only realized that I said it out loud when Morgana gave me a look as if she was asking "What happened?". I just shook my head as Uther kept going. And what he said confirmed my thoughts.

"It gives me greatest pleasure to inform you that the Houses of Tregor and Pendragon are to be united in the closest bond of all," He said proudly. "I am to marry Lady Catrina of Tregor."

I quickly glanced around the room, and needless to say, everyone was surprised with the sudden engagement. When my eyes landed on Merlin and Gaius, they looked nearly horrified, which is probably how I looked.

I looked over to Morgana, and her face said it all: She didn't see this coming either. As I started clapping with the others, Catrina leaned towards Uther and whispered something in his ear. After Catrina pulled away, Uther announced, "I am to marry Lady Catrina tomorrow."

The clapping started again, and after a minute or so Uther put his hand up to silence everyone. "This union heralds a new dawn for the kingdom, a new beginning..."

I looked over to where Merlin was standing, but was surprised to see him gone. I looked forwards and saw him standing closer to Catrina, so I'd assume he was doing the spell now.

"...and a new queen for all here in Camelot," Uther finished. As I watched them, I noticed Catrina's face change drastically. She went from all smiles to a worried frown in less than five seconds.

"I could not hope to have made a better match," Uther continued, and Catrina's skin began to ripple, like pond water.

"I hope you will all share in our joy," Uther finished. Catrina's face was rippling a little worse, but she actually managed to fight it off.

Everyone started clapping again, and I looked over to Merlin. I raised my eyebrows, as if I was asking him, "What happened?"

He just shook his head as Uther said, "Thank you."

I felt a hand in my own, and I looked down to see Merlin grabbing it. I looked over, and saw that people were starting to leave, and it looked like he wanted me to go with him and Gaius. And I wanted to, I wanted to know what went wrong.

As soon as we entered their chambers, Merlin started apologizing. "I'm sorry. I tried. I gave it everything I had."

"It's not your fault, Merlin. You did your best," Gaius said.

"Gaius is right, you can't beat yourself up over this," I told him. "It seems troll magic is very powerful, even more so than yours."

Merlin nodded. "The spell of revelation is powerful magic!" He said incredulously. "And she could feel it, I could see she could feel it."

Gaius nodded. "Elizabeth is right. Her magic must be strong, indeed, to be able to resist you."

Just as Gaius finished his sentence, Merlin's heading right for the door. "Where are you going?" Gaius asked.

"To see Arthur! He's our only hope!" Merlin called out over his shoulder.

I looked over at Gaius in disbelief before looking after Merlin. "Are we talking about the same man that makes you change his whole outfit all over again if he doesn't like the way it looks?" I called after him. Merlin had a lot of stories of Arthur, more than I did, so it seemed.

I looked back to Gaius. "Something must be done, Gaius. Or the future Queen of Camelot is going to be a disgusting troll."

Gaius shook his head. "I'm afraid Merlin is right. Arthur might be the only hope."

"Yeah, but you know Arthur!" I said. "This is about Uther and happiness, Arthur would never do anything to ruin that."

The day of Uther and Catrina's wedding was certainly a quick one. The great hall was quickly made up for a wedding (I had to give the designer props for throwing a wedding together so quickly), and before I knew it, I was all dressed up and standing with Morgana in the audience.

It was strange, I hadn't seen Merlin for the rest of the night or the whole morning. I didn't have the chance to tell him what I thought about the amulet, so we couldn't come up with a real plan. We might be out of time for this one.

Uther was already standing at the front, waiting for his bride. The horns sounded, and we all stood up for the bride to walk in. She did, and it took her an agonizingly long time to get to the front.

"My lords, ladies, and gentlemen of Camelot," Geoffrey of Monmouth, who was doing the ceremony, started. "We are gathered here today to celebrate, by the ancient right of handfasting, the union of Uther Pendragon and Lady Catrina of Tregor."

"Is it your wish, Uther, to become one with this woman?" He asked Uther.

No hesitation from Uther's side. "It is."

"Is it your wish, Catrina, to become one with this man?"

"It is," She said quickly, her chin high.

"Do any say nay?" Geoffrey asked.

You have no idea how hard I had to contain myself, because if I didn't, I would have ran right up to Geoffrey and shouted, "THE BRIDE IS A TROLL! I SAY NAY!"

I seemed to have zoned out, and Geoffrey was already saying, "I now pronounce you to be husband and wife."

Uther and Catrina kissed, and the crowd started applauding. I heard the sounds of the door open and turned my head to see Merlin, covered in dirt, and his face in disappointment. He didn't make it in time.

Well, I guess it was time for me to bring out the welcome matt for Queen of all the Trolls.

TBC...

WHEW! The entire episode in a few hours!

I REALLY hope to work on part 2 as soon as possible!

Part 2 is gonna be really fun! Expect a sassy Lizzie and maybe even some Merlizabeth! (Merlin and Elizabeth's ship name. Not the best.)

Also a LOT of BIG changes are happening to Elizabeth this season, especially around the last few episodes. Poor girl can NEVER catch a break, can she?

I was also thinking of maybe making Elizabeth a Tumblr page, where she would answer questions, make posts, and all that stuff. Would you guys be interested in seeing that? Because I would only make it if it interests you, it takes FOREVER to customize a blog lol.

Let me know in a review or a PM!

Until the next time,

THE ADVENTURES OF ELIZABETH MALINOR CONTINUE...

"Queen Catrina will be named as rightful heir to the throne," Uther Pendragon announces.

"So if Uther dies, she will rule Camelot?" Merlin asks.

"That's generally how it works, Merlin," Elizabeth says with an eye roll.

"Just shut up and give me the crown!" Catrina snapped, grabbing the crown out of Geoffrey's hand and sticking it on her head before starting to run out.

"If she can't be stopped, Arthur won't become King!" Merlin protests. "Albion will never be born."

Stay tuned for Beauty and the Beast (Part 2)!
