LITERALLY I AM SO EXCITED! THIS IS THE FURTHEST I'VE EVER GOTTEN TO WITH A FANFICTION!

Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin in any way, shape, or form! I do own Elizabeth Malinor and any other characters or storylines I make up!

Enjoy!

Some days were fun. Some, were incredibly boring.

Like today, for instance.

I had no idea how many knightings I had to attend while here, but I had been to so many I had actually began to fake sick to avoid them. They were so boring. Literally, it was the same thing over and over again. Unfortunately, Uther figured out pretty quick that I was faking being sick and forced me to attend all ceremonies now, even those that didn't involve me as my "punishment".

It could be worse. I could be burnt at the stake.

"Arise, Sir Vidor: Knight of Camelot," Uther went on. "Arise, Sir Caridoc, Knight of Camelot."

All the knights that knelt in front of Uther rose. "You've been accorded a great honour. With that honour, comes great responsibility."

"Some honour," Morgana whispered to me. "Anybody can swing around a sword."

I had to cover my mouth to conceal my snort. This was why I loved Morgana.

"From this day forth, you are sworn by the Knight's code," Uther continued. "You have pledged to conduct yourselves with nobility. Honour and respect. Your word is your sacred bond. You will find no better example of these values, than my son, Arthur," Uther said, going over to Arthur and putting his hand on his son's shoulder. "Follow his example, and you'll prove yourselves worthy of your title."

The ceremony was interrupted (thank God-I was two seconds away from falling asleep on Morgana's shoulder) by the sounds of the guards outside screaming and groaning in pain.

In walked someone totally decked out in armour, helmet and everything. All the knights and guards in the room immediately drew their knives, and I was itching to take out the dagger that Leon had given me for my birthday that I hid in the pockets of my skirts (yeah I thought it was total bullshit that dresses didn't have pockets, so I asked Gwen to stitch some in for me).

Arthur walked over to meet the person in the middle, his own sword drawn out. The person took off their gauntlet, and threw it at Arthur's feet, a clear sign of a challenge.

Never taking his eyes off of the person, Arthur reached down and grabbed the gauntlet. "I accept your challenge," He told the person. "If I'm to face you in combat, do me the courteously of revealing your identity."

The person complied. They reached up and grabbed the helmet. Then, they leaned forward, and pulled it off. Soft golden waves fell from the helmet, and the entire room was surprised to see that the challenger wasn't a man, but a woman.

"My name is Morgause," She introduced.

I couldn't help but stare at her oddly. There was something about Morgause that was...familiar.

Strangely enough, later that night, Morgause was practicing her sword fighting directly outside of my bedroom. I was staring at her in hopes that a memory of the show would be triggered, but nothing was working. At this point, I was ready to bash my head against the wall.

"Who is she?" Gwen asked as she prepared my bed for the night. "Why would she challenge Arthur?"

"Trust me Gwen, I'm just as befuddled with her as you are," I answered as I stared Morgause down. She hadn't seemed to notice that I was staring at her yet, so I was going to count that as a win.

"No one's ever heard of her," Gwen pointed out.

"It's the strangest thing," I muttered. "I feel like I...I know her, somehow. Like...like I've met her somewhere before."

"Really?" Gwen asked as she came over to me. "Strangely enough, Morgana's said the same thing when I tended to her earlier. Where could you two possibly know her from?"

"I don't know," I said as I looked over at Gwen. "Trust me, I'm beating myself up about it," I continued as I looked back at Morgause. To my shock, she was staring directly at me. I quickly shut my window and pulled the blinds together. I knew it was pointless, because she had seen me already, but I had to save my pride somehow.

"Well, come, My Lady," Gwen said. "It's time for bed."

I took one last look at the window, and then headed over to my bed.

The next day, I was sitting on the other side of Uther, anxiously waiting for the challenge to begin. Merlin had told me that the previous night, Arthur gave Morgause the chance to withdraw from the match, but she refused. The thing was, I didn't want Arthur to die, of course I didn't, but for some weird reason that I had no excuse for, I didn't want Morgause to die either.

This whole situation was rubbing me the wrong way, and I just wanted it over with.

The whole crowd began clapping as Arthur walked in, Merlin trailing closely behind him.

Uther stood up. "The fight is by the Knight's Rules," He began. "And to the death."

Did we always have to fight to the death? Why couldn't it be whichever person won got a jar of cookies?

They began fighting, and I gripped my arm rests tightly as their swords clanged and they took swipes at each other. Arthur managed to hit Morgause, which caused her to drop her sword. I'd admit, I was a little more concerned than I probably should have been, but Arthur gave her the choice to withdraw-she refused.

The crowd cheered for Arthur as Morgause picked her sword back up. She swipted at Arthur again, and the fight restarted. Unfortunately, Arthur made a move to hit Morgause, which she dodged, and using the chance, she knocked Arthur's legs out from under him, causing him to fall to the ground as his helmet flew off. While Arthur was on the ground, she pushed the tip of her sword on to his chest, right where his heart was, forcing him to the ground.

Morgause took off her helmet, and then started saying something to Arthur. I couldn't hear exactly what, but it must have been a good thing, because she withdrew her sword and instead extended a hand to Arthur, helping him stand up. Morgause went over to Uther, bowed respectfully, and then just up and left the arena, leaving the rest of us puzzled.

I had to figure out what was up with Morgause before she left. In fact, I was so desperate that I actually asked a servant where I could find her chambers so that I could talk to her. Maybe if I talked to her, the memory would be triggered.

I quietly opened the door and walked in. The room looked exactly like the rest of the Camelot guest rooms, but the air felt a little...different.

I couldn't see Morgause, so I just assumed that she had already left. I turned around to leave, when I heard footsteps. I looked over my shoulder, and saw Morgause stepping out from around the changing curtain.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude," I apologized. "I just wanted to introduce myself. I am the Lady Elizabeth."

"I know who you are," Morgause said as she walked closer to me.

I rubbed my arm as we stood in silence for a second. I took notice of the bandage wrapped around her arm. "How is your arm? I saw you get hurt."

"It'll heal soon enough," She brushed off. She walked even closer to me as she said, "You look tired."

I cleared my throat gently. "I don't sleep very well."

Morgause nodded in understanding. "I know for myself how troubling that can be."

Alrighty, before this got too awkward, time for the reason I actually came. "Do I know you from somewhere? Could we have met somewhere before?"

Morgause simply shook her head. "I am glad we have met now," She commented as she turned back to her things.

Okay, things got awkward again. Come on, brain! Figure it out! Stupid Nimueh!

Oh well. When in doubt, compliment. "That's a lovely bracelet," I said, eyeing the jewelry on her wrist.

"It was a gift from my mother," She explained. "Please, I would like you to have it." Before I could protest, she took it off of her wrist. She held it out to me. "It's a healing bracelet, it will help you sleep."

"Oh, I couldn't," I rejected. I couldn't take something that meant so much to her. "It was from your mother, I'm sure it means more to you than it could to me." I cleared my throat again. Time to book it! "You know what? I bet you're tired from the match. I'll leave you to sleep." I immediately turned around without waiting for her response. I didn't even get to figure out where I knew her from!

Morgause's next words were surprising enough to stop me in my tracks. "I hope you will remember me fondly," She said, and I turned around to see a far away look on her face.

Why would I remember her? Well, if it got her off my back. "I will," I said with a nod, before opening the door and scurrying the hell out of there.

I had tossed and turned during the beginning of the night, trying to fight off my nightmares. I felt like they were just getting worse and worse. What did I do to deserve this?

But suddenly...the dreams stopped. Instead, there was nothing. Like a TV signal had just died out, and I stopped moving. I was actually sleeping peacefully, for the first time in forever.

In fact, I had become super annoyed when I felt someone shaking me. I tried to swat at them, but I didn't feel like moving my arms, I was resting so peacefully. Annoyed, I finally opened my eyes to see Gwen standing before me. She sighed in relief. "Thank God, I was worried something had happened to you."

"I was sleeping so soundly," I said, the sleep heavy in my voice. I tried blinking out the sunshine from my eyes. The sun was really high up for the morning.

"It's nearly midday," Gwen supplied, and I widened my eyes. I had slept through the whole night? Without waking up? How?

"Get out," I said as I sat up.

Gwen furrowed her eyebrows. "I'm sorry, my Lady? You would like me to leave?"

I immediately shook my head. You know, I'd lived here for a couple years. You would have thought that I would stop talking like I was from the 21st century. "No, never mind. I just meant that I can't remember the last time I slept so well."

Gwen smiled as she rubbed my back. "Morgana was the same way as well. I had just woken her up when I woke you up. Anyways, I'll fetch you some clothes so you and Morgana can have something to eat."

She walked over to my closet, and I stretched my arms up so I could straighten my stiff muscles. I looked around my room, and my eyes landed on something right on top of one of my chests.

It was Morgause's healing bracelet. How the hell did this get into my room?

I reached over and grabbed it off of the chest, looking at it in wonder. Did this really prevent my nightmares?

I know I was trusting the word of a somehow familiar stranger, but if it meant more peaceful nights, I slipped it right on to my right wrist, where it glistened in the sun.

I wonder why she gave it to me.

"So I hear that Arthur's been confined to his chambers so that he wouldn't accept Morgause's challenge," Morgana reported as we sipped tea.

"I wonder why," I mused.

"Uther obviously thinks it's a trap," Morgana supplied. "But I don't know." She was quiet for a second, then spoke up. "Lizzie, do you feel like you-"

"Know Morgause?" I finished for her, and she nodded.

"I thought it was just me," She said. "Then she left me a healing bracelet for my nightmares-"

"You too?" I asked, holding up my wrist. The sleeve of my dress was covering it up before, but now you could clearly see it.

"Why do I feel like I know her?" She asked me.

"I have no idea Morgana," I answered. "It's been bothering me since the moment I laid eyes on her."

Except it was so much worse because I had no memories of anything from the show.

Later that day, I was sitting in my room, catching up on a little bit of reading when there was a knock at the door. I put my book down, and went over to the door to open it. To my happiness, it was Gaius.

"Gaius!" I said. "Please, come in."

"Hello, my child. I've brought you your sleeping draft," She said, holding up the small bottle.

I hit myself in the forehead. "I'm sorry, I should have told you. I don't need it. I had the most amazing night's sleep."

"No nightmares?" Gaius asked as I came over and stood in front of him.

"And what a relief it is," I answered. I played with Morgause's bracelet. "I just wish I could have thanked Morgause for the bracelet in person." I found out from Merlin that he and Arthur were going to Morgause anyways, so I told Merlin to thank her for me for the bracelet.

"Morgause gave you that bracelet?" Gaius asked as he inspected it.

I nodded. "Gave Morgana one just like it too, so I wouldn't bother going to her chambers to give her a draft. She said that it would help me sleep. She wasn't kidding." There was a strange look on Gaius's face, and I tilted my head to the side. "Gaius, is something wrong?"

He snapped out of his thoughts. "Of course not, my dear. I am merely surprised that it's so effective."

Gaius was old, maybe he knew Morgause. "Morgana and I both feel like we know Morgause."

"I don't see how, but I am pleased that you both are feeling better," Gaius answered, and he took his leave.

After he left, I sat back down in my comfy chair, and fiddled with the bracelet again. Even though I was grateful to Morgause, I still felt odd about the whole situation.

After I had dinner, I was just taking a stroll in the castle (I had no idea how boring everything was without Merlin) when I had passed by the dining room where Uther had his meals.

Strangely enough, there were no guards around. I was going to keep walking and ignore it, but I heard Morgause's name being mentioned, and, well, maybe what they were talking about could answer my problem.

And okay, I was a notorious eavesdropper.

Looking both ways, I walked over to the door, and leaned my ear against the heavy door. It took a while to get into the correct position, but I finally managed to find one that I could hear their voices the clearest.

I heard Gaius speaking. "While I was treating her wound, I noticed that she wore a bracelet."

At the mention of Morgause's bracelet, I immediately looked down at it sitting on my wrist.

"Go on," Uther pressed.

"It bore the mark of the Great House of Gorlois," Gaius continued. "There's only one person other than Morgana who would have cause to wear such a bracelet. That is, her half sister."

My eyes widened in surprise. Morgause was Morgana's half sister?! This was exactly the kind of thing that I missed knowing!

"I was led to believe that the child had died," Uther protested.

There was a slight pause on Gaius's side before he said, "The child lived, my Lord. She was smuggled out of Camelot after her birth."

"How do you know this?" Uther asked.

"It was I who entrusted the child to the High Priestesses of the Old Religion," Gaius revealed.

"You should have told me, Gaius," Uther said disapprovingly.

"I had sworn a solemn oath, my Lord," Gaius explained. "I am only breaking it now, because I fear for what Morgause might do."

I heard Uther sigh in frustration.

"That is not all, my Lord," Gaius continued. "Do you remember when Vivienne had traveled to the kingdom of Nemeth?"

"Of course," Uther said. "She was gone for a year to take care of her sister."

"She had not returned the same," Gaius said. "During her year there, she had become pregnant once more."

Jesus, it was like everyone was getting pregnant left and right here.

"How do you know of this?" Uther asked.

"I was the only one that Vivienne had entrusted," Gaius explained. "The child that she had given birth to? She was given to a Knight of Camelot and his wife, who craved children but could not have any of their own. She did not want Gorlois to know that she had had an affair while she was away." Gaius cleared his throat. "I am sure you can come to the conclusion who the couple were, my Lord."

Uther gasped. "Antonius and Flora."

Who the hell were Antonius and Flora?

"As in...Elizabeth's father and mother," Gaius said. "Or rather, her adoptive father and mother."

And I felt like someone had knocked the wind right out of my stomach.

My parents weren't really my parents? Morgana was my sister? Morgause was my sister?

No wonder I had the weird feeling that I knew Morgause.

No wonder Morgana and I both possessed the ability to see the future in our dreams. No wonder I had magic! If Uther had known that my parents had magic somehow (and he would have figured it out), he would have had me, Antonius, and Flora all executed. How could I have been so stupid to not have noticed?

It explained why Morgana and I were so close. We could practically read each others mind. We weren't just best friends...we were really sisters.

"Do Elizabeth and Morgana know?" I dimly heard Uther ask. I felt like my ears were ringing. I could feel the blood rushing out of my face.

"I don't believe so," Gaius answered.

"Elizabeth and Morgana must never find out that they are half sisters and that they have another half sister," Uther commanded. "I will not have their loyalties divided."

Too late for that, buddy. I meant the finding out part, not the loyalties part.

"Of course," Gaius said. "The High Priestesses will have trained Morgause from birth. Her magic will be powerful."

"Then we must hope that the search party finds Arthur before he reaches her," Uther dismissed.

I pushed myself away from the door, and nearly stumbled to the ground. I had no idea what to think. What did this mean? Did it mean anything?

"Are you alright, my Lady?" A passing servant asked. "You look very pale."

"I'm fine," I barely brushed off. I picked up my skirts, and prepared myself to run.

There was one person and one person only that I knew could give me answers.

And if he didn't, then I was going to rip him a new tail.
