AN: Sorry I haven't updated for a while! I had exams and I'm still struggling a bit to enter the proper steam of my new semester (especially since it's a lot harder than my old one) but I'll try to update as often as I can!

Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin in any way, shape, or form! I do own Elizabeth Malinor and any other characters I make up!

Enjoy!

I was walking on down the hall when I saw Merlin running towards me. "Oh, hello, Merlin!" I greeted, lifting a hand to wave at him.

"Oh great, it's Lizzie!" Merlin said as he got to me. He grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hall with him. "I need your help!"

"Don't you always?" I muttered to myself as I struggled to lift my skirts to keep up with him. "What've you done this time?"

"I didn't really do anything, per se," Merlin said, out of breath.

"Merlin," I gave him a firm look as we ran.

"Well, I was in the library," He explained. "And I opened this crate. Out popped this weird, green looking elf thing that just started making a mess and now I have no idea where he is."

"So it's loose in the castle?" I asked as we got to his chambers.

"Pretty much," Merlin said as we walked in. He quickly explained the situation to Gaius, who went over to one of his book of creatures and began flipping through the pages.

Merlin stopped Gaius when he found the right picture. "That's it," He said as he pointed at a weird, elf-y looking thing. And he looked nothing like Will Ferrell did.

"Seems you've unleashed a goblin," Gaius revealed.

I rolled my eyes and smacked Merlin upside the head. "Hey!" I protested as he gently rubbed at his head.

"Like we didn't have enough problems," I shook my head at him.

"We don't even know if it's bad!" Merlin said. He turned to Gaius. "It's not bad, right?"

I scoffed. "Merlin, Gaius is making the face. It's clearly not a good thing. Right, Gaius?"

Gaius nodded. "Goblins are the most mischievous of creatures," Gauis explained. "Mischievous and dangerous."

"Ha!" I said, pointing in Merlin's face.

He knocked my finger out of his face as he turned back to face Gaius. "It didn't seem dangerous."

"Believe me, Merlin, Goblins will stop at nothing to get their hands on the one thing they value above all others. Gold," Gaius explained.

The doors suddenly opened and in walked Arthur. "You're needed, Gaius, for a matter of great urgency and extreme delicacy," Arthur said as he walked over.

"What is it?" Gaius inquired.

"It's my father," Arthur revealed.

Not one to miss opportunities, I followed Merlin, Gaius, and Arthur as we walked to Uther's chambers. Right before we entered, Arthur suddenly turned around and pointed a finger at the three of us. "I should warn you, if you value your lives, do not even think about laughing."

Arthur turned back around, and I leaned over towards Merlin. "Laughing? Oh, this should be good," I whispered.

"Father?" Arthur called out when we walked in.

"I'm behind the screen," Uther's voice said.

Arthur gestured for Gaius to go see Uther, and I couldn't help but trail behind. I walked over to the screen and gasped loudly, throwing my hand over my mouth.

Uther was bald.

And not just "his hair was slightly thinning" bald. I mean, full out, no hair, you could see your own reflection in his head bald.

Uther avoided our gazes as he crossed his arms like a stubborn, embarrassed child.

I tried hard, I really did, but a snort managed to escape me, and once one came out, the rest followed. I took my hand off of my mouth for one second to say, "I'm sorry, I can't stay here," I said, and giggles were bursting out of me as I said that sentence. I turned around to wait outside for Gaius and Merlin, laughing quietly to myself until I actually got outside, where I burst into such hard laughter that I nearly toppled over. The guards thought I was going to collapse.

Gaius and Merlin came back out a few minutes later, and Merlin fell into a bit of laughter too. "Did you see the look on his face?" I asked him as he came out and we started walking back to Gaius's.

"Priceless," Merlin laughed.

Gaius shot the two of us a stern look, and we immediately stopped. "Only an enchantment could cause Uther to lose his hair like that. I have no doubt the Goblin is to blame. We need to catch it before it does any real damage."

"You don't consider Uther's head to be real damage?" I asked, laughing erupting in my chest as I did so. "Because Uther certainly does!"

Merlin started laughing again too. "I will never get over the look on his face."

Gaius gave the two of us his look again. "Merlin, what do you think Uther will do to the person responsible for releasing the Goblin?"

We both quickly sobered up. "We need to catch it," Merlin said immediately. "How do we do that?"

"We need to set a trap," Gaius said as we started walking again. "And for that, we need gold, and plenty of it."

"I wish I had been there to see it," I laughed as Merlin told me the story of how Arthur had woken up as Merlin was taking his box of gold coins. "It's not every day you see the strong, brave, Prince Arthur battle and lose to a sheet."

"We don't have time to waste," Gaius slightly scolded Merlin and I, and we shrugged off our joking as we got to work. Merlin placed the open box of gold in his chambers, and the three of us hid behind the door as Merlin began rolling some gold coins down the hall.

Footsteps in the hallway alerted us to someone being there, and by the cries of "Oh!" and "Lovely gold!" We all assumed it was the Goblin. Merlin held the blanket that he planned on catching the Goblin with in his hands, and I tightly gripped the frying pan in my hand that I planned to use to subdue the Goblin.

Eventually, he walked into the room, and he looked almost exactly like the picture in the book. "Oh, oh, oh, oh!" Was all he could seem to say as he walked over to the open chest of gold. We all looked to each other and nodded. I ran forward and smacked the thing in the head, and Merlin immediately pounced on him after.

He was fighting, but a little bit groggily since I hit him on the head. I stood ready to hit him again if need be, but there was suddenly nothing underneath Merlin as the Goblin changed into a pixie-like form. Gaius held a small pot open, ready to grab it, but Merlin tried pouncing on it again, with no luck, it seemed.

"Where did it go?" I asked, my eyes firmly trained on where Merlin was.

"I don't know," Merlin said as he stood up. We both looked over to Gaius, who seemed a little stricken.

"Gaius? Did you see where it went?" Merlin asked as the two of us looked around.

"You let it escape, you stupid boy!" Gaius scolded Merlin, smacking him upside the head. "Now you just stand there lke a sack of potatoes."

I immediately raised my eyebrows. Gaius never acted like that with Merlin, at least, not seriously. I could tell by the look on Merlin's face that he was just as dumbstruck as I was.

"Go after it!" Gaius said, pointing out the door. "Go! Shoo! Shoo!"

Merlin just shrugged it off as he ran out the door. Gaius then turned to me. "What, do you need an invitation? Go on with him! Shoo!"

I raised my eyebrows but didn't question it as I slightly raised my skirt to go after Merlin.

There was something fishy going on.

Merlin and I split up to search the castle. We both returned to Gaius's, neither of us having seen the Goblin. Merlin opened the door as he said, "We've searched the entire castle. There's no sign of the Goblin any-What happened?" Merlin exclaimed when we walked in and shut the door.

The whole room was a mess. There were broken beakers, overturned books, knocked over books, the whole place was a disaster area.

"It's that pesky Goblin!" Gaius said. "You two let it escape, and it's ransacked my premises. You've got some cleaning up to do!" He went on as he walked over to the door.

Merlin and I just stood there, our mouths agape. "Clean! Clean!" Gaius pressed as he continued over to the door.

Merlin and I looked to each other, looks of confusion plastered all over our faces. We turned back to Gaius. "Where do you think you're going?" I asked him.

"I'm going to the tavern," He answered, which was like the bar in town.

"You never go to the tavern," Merlin pointed out.

"Then I shall see what I've been missing," Gaius simply said as he walked out the door.

"What the hell was that?" I said as Gaius left.

"No idea," Merlin answered, before he surveyed the area around us. "This place is a disaster!"

"Don't make that face," I said as I put my hands on my hips. It gave him frown lines which weren't attractive. But Merlin was always attractive.

Err...what?

"I'll help you clean up," I said quickly to cover my own thoughts, and we got to work.

I grumbled as I rifled through my jewelry boxes. Where was it? I couldn't find it anywhere.

"Looking for something, Sister?" Morgana asked as she walked into my bedroom.

I refrained from rolling my eyes at her "sister" and nodded instead. "Yes, my healing bracelet. I'm afraid I've lost it. I didn't realize I wasn't wearing it when I fell asleep last night and had a horrible dream. Now I can't find it. I was a gift from Morgause, too."

"How curious," Morgana said as she sat down at the table that I had in my room. "My healing bracelet has been stolen, too."

"What are we to do then?" I asked as I went to sit with her.

"Whatever you do, don't go to Gaius," She said as I sat down. "I mean, I always had a feeling that Gaius knew about how we really felt about Camelot, but today he was so open about it."

"It doesn't surprise me," I said. "Gaius is Merlin's guardian. Of course Merlin would tell him." I tried not to flinch as I used a nasty tone when talking about two people close to me.

"Do you think he'll say anything to Uther?" Morgana asked worried.

I fake rolled my eyes. "And risk getting beheaded? Not likely. Gaius knows that Uther would believe us over him any day."

Morgana sighed in relief. "You're right. I don't know why I was so worried. You're always right."

I smiled. I hated being so fake with Morgana. I missed the relationship that we used to have. We were never going to get that back, and that broke my heart even more than it had when I realized she had let her darkness consume her.

"It's most odd," I said to Merlin as we walked back to his chambers. "People have been saying that Gaius has been going around and diagnosing people and offering remedies for the price of a gold coin."

"Gaius rarely ever charges people, and even then, never in gold coins," Merlin mused. "There's something going on here."

"Really? I never would have guessed," I said sarcastically.

"You know, that tone of voice isn't a pleasant one," Merlin said as we got to the door. We were about to walk in when Merlin held an arm out to stop me. He peered in through the open door and swiveled around to face me a few seconds after. "He's licking a gold coin!" Merlin said.

The dots connected. "The Goblin!" I gasped.

Merlin nodded and burst through the door. "You're the Goblin!" He exclaimed.

The Goblin switched back into his Gaius persona. "Have you lost your mind?" He asked.

"No, but you have, or at least it's been taken over!" Merlin said.

"Don't be ridiculous," Goblin-Gaius scoffed.

"Oh, give it up!" I exclaimed. "I've known Gaius my entire life and Merlin knows him like the back of his own hand and you certainly aren't Gaius!"

"Ah," Goblin-Gaius smirked. "You've got me. How do you like my new body? It's a bit old and creaky, but it's ever so much fun."

"It's not your body, it's Gaius's! What have you done with him?" Merlin asked.

"He's still in here somewhere," Goblin-Gaius confirmed.

"Gaius has done you no harm. Leave him," Merlin pleaded, and I very nearly smacked him upside the head.

Oh yeah, like that'd make the Goblin leave.

"Alright, you've convinced me," Goblin-Gaius said sarcastically.

"Why is he using the tone of voice that you have all the time?" Merlin asked me as he looked over at me.

"Because he's being sarcastic, Merlin," I said. "He's not really going to leave so easily."

"Your wife is right," Goblin-Gaius said.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Merlin and I both said at the same time. We gestured to each other frantically. "We're not married," We said, a jumbled up mess of words.

Though would it really be so bad to be married to Merlin? Probably not. He was nice enough, and handsome, and kind hearted, not to mention funny...

I was getting off topic.

"Either way, she's still right," Goblin-Gaius said. "I think I'll stay where I am. I like it in here. The freedom, the gold, the beer. Did I mention the gold?"

"If you hurt Gaius, I will kill you," Merlin said threateningly.

I smacked him in the chest. "Don't leave me out of that 'I'," I scolded, only half serious.

"You two will just be killing him. You see the problem?" Goblin-Gaius said. "I'm him, he's me. We're all jumbled up in here."

Goblin-Gaius tapped Merlin on the cheek before walking out the door, leaving the warlock and I more frustrated than ever before.

I tapped my foot to the sound of my heart beat as I listened to the council meeting go on. Honestly, I had no time for this! Gaius was in danger and yet there Goblin-Gaius was, standing off to the side where Merlin was with a cheeky grin on his face.

It was also hard to sit there with a straight face because of the hat that Uther was wearing to cover the baldness. I very nearly burst into laughter at the sight of it, but one look from Arthur ceased all laughs immediately.

"There have been instances of vandalism around the palace as well as a number of thefts," Arthur reported to the King. "I myself was a victim. Unfortunately, the thief managed to...elude me."

I was barely able to keep my laugh in at the thought of Arthur struggling with his bedsheets.

What Arthur was about to say next got cut off by the loud sound of a fart, and I was surprised to see that it had come from Gwen, who was blushing rather furiously. The next fart sound came from Morgana, and the two women were utterly horrified at their lack of control over the action.

I quickly looked forward and buried my face into my right hand, feeling such deep secondhand embarrassment, even for someone like Morgana.

I looked up and saw the wink and smirk that Goblin-Gaius had flashed Merlin, meaning that this was obviously his doing.

"Double the guard," Uther said loudly, trying to cover up the unfortunate awkwardness that had resulted. "I want the perpetrator found."

And as if on cue, Uther let out a rather loud fart as well, and I couldn't even look anybody else in the eye because of the embarrassment that I felt for them.

"Yes, my Lord," Arthur said, though it looked as if it physically pained him to make words.

The whole court was silent but we were all horrified, especially in our minds. I know for a fact that I wanted to be anywhere else right now. And for Gwen to do something so unladylike in front of someone like Arthur...I certainly wouldn't want to be in her shoes.

Another fart from Uther was enough. "The council is dismissed," Uther barely managed to get out. He farted once more, and snapped, "Now!" Which was enough for literally everyone to run right out of the room, unable to spend another second in the room.

I just followed Merlin back to his chambers. "Oh God," I moaned, mortified.

"It was the Goblin's doing," Merlin said as we walked inside. He turned around to face the door, leaning on the table.

"Really? Gee, I never would have guessed," I gave him a look as I stood beside him.

"We have to do something or he's going to get Gaius into serious trouble," Merlin thought out loud as he crossed his arms.

"Today was bad enough. Can you imagine if he's in there any longer?" I shivered.

A few minutes later, the sound of laughter was echoing in the hall, and Goblin-Gaius walked inside, still chuckling. Merlin was standing with his arms crossed with an angry look on his face, so I tried to match his stance as Goblin-Gaius walked over to us. "Tell me you didn't think that was funny."

No response from us. "Not even a little bit?" Still no response. "Just a teeny weeny bit?" Goblin-Gaius asked, making the "little bit" motion with his fingers.

"It was a tad bit funny," I whispered as I leaned over to speak in Merlin's ear. He gave me a look of bewilderment, and my face dropped. "Come on, did you see Morgana's face? Tell me she didn't deserve that one!"

"Elizabeth!" Merlin whispered angrily.

"Right, sorry," I said as I put a stern look on my face again.

"At least your wife has a better sense of humor than you do," Goblin-Gaius said to Merlin. "How does a girl like her end up with someone like you anyways?"

"We're not married," Merlin and I said at the same time again, but we both blushed anyways.

Merlin cleared his throat. "That doesn't matter. If you carry on like this, you're going to get Gaius killed."

"Merlin, you underestimate me," Goblin-Gaius said. "I have cured Uther of his farting and his baldness. He is, he tells me, forever in my debt. I am a genius."

"I don't know if you've noticed but Uther can be easily fooled," I said. "You have to stop!"

"And here I thought you were the fun one in your relationship!" Goblin-Gaius said. "I see no reason why for me to stop. Now if you're quite finished, I'm going to the tavern."

Goblin-Gaius turned around to leave, but Merlin shut the door with a quick whisper of a spell. "Bord, wipstand hine."

"Well, well, well," Goblin-Gaius said as he turned around to face us. "So you have a secret of your own, Merlin. And judging by the look on your wife's face, she's known for a very long time. Such secrets between the two of you."

Merlin ignorned his comments. "Leave his body or you will regret it."

"Your magic may be powerful, but I have an advantage," Goblin-Gaius said.

"Advantage? What advantage?" I asked.

"I can hurt you two," Goblin-Gaius said as he used his magic to pick up a nearby dagger. A scream built up in my throat as it came sailing at my face, but Merlin was quick with his magic to stop it as the tip of the blade was barely touching my nose. I sighed in relief as I leaned against Merlin. Merlin used his magic to flip the blade around and he launched it at Goblin-Gaius, keeping the tip of the blade right in front of his face. "Whereas you two cannot hurt me without hurting Gaius."

This new piece of information made Merlin drop the dagger to the ground. Great. A new obstacle for us to overcome. Merlin and I couldn't help but share worried glances for the briefest second.

"We won't rest till we've found a way to force you out of Gaius's body," Merlin promised Goblin-Gaius.

And with that, Merlin grabbed my wrist and led the two of us out of the room.
