AN: Before we get started, I wanted to say that I got the healer idea from LizzeXX's Merlin fanfic stories. It was just the basic idea. Lizzie will be able to do things that Morgana could, and she won't be able to do some things that Morgana could. I always meant to mention it before but whenever I finish chapters it's always late at night and I get so tired I forget. So writing it now!

BTW you totally read her Merlin stories as they're freaking fabulous as hell (like literally if you don't like some aspects of the Merlin show she completely changed them and it was glorious really. I spent like two or three weeks reading them and am eagerly awaiting the sequel!)

Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin in any way, shape, or form! I do own Elizabeth Malinor and any other characters I make up!

Enjoy!

When I got word of Merlin being arrested, I ran straight for the council chambers where Uther was holding Merlin's trial. What had he gotten arrested for? Forgetting to wash Arthur's socks?

I was sitting next to Morgana when two guards dragged Merlin in. I wanted to run over to him and not let anything happen to him but for one thing, Morgana was sitting right next to me and for another, I couldn't exactly do it-it'd be improper.

Goblin-Gaius was standing next to Uther, which made me believe that he had something to do with it. I could only send him a hard glare. If I could hurt him without hurting Gaius, I would've by now.

"Is it true?" Uther asked him. "You were responsible for the affliction that I and other members of the court have suffered?"

Merlin's eyes practically bugged out of his head. "What? No!"

"Gaius," Uther said, not looking at the impostor.

"I found this in your room," Goblin-Gaius said as he leaned over to a table next to the throne. "It's a book of spells and enchantments."

My stomach dropped and my heart began to race. I shared a quick, worried look with Merlin, who immediately turned back to the King. "He's lying!" Merlin's expression suddenly changed as he said, "That's not Gaius."

Oh dear Lord, what was he about to do?

"What are you talking about?" Arthur asked him as Gaius handed Uther Merlin's magic book.

"He's been possessed by a goblin," Merlin said the last few words quiet, realizing how ridiculous it sounded out loud.

"The boy is reduced to making the most desperate and ridiculous accusations," Goblin-Gaius said.

"You seriously expect me to believe that Gaius is a goblin?" Uther asked.

"It's...it's controlling him," Merlin offered weakly, and I buried my face into my hand from the second hand embarrassment. "Gaius is still in there somewhere."

"Do you have any proof of these accusations?" Arthur asked.

Merlin hesitated before he finally had to tell the truth. "No."

Whispers filled the court as Goblin-Gaius said, "I fear magic has corrupted you. It pains me more than I can tell you."

"I really doubt that," Merlin said, and I couldn't help but feel a little pride that my sass was finally rubbing off on him.

"My Lord, I have been harbouring a sorcerer. For that, I offer my most sincere apology," Goblin-Gaius lied.

"You were not to know, Gaius," Uther said, clapping him on the shoulder. "He's fooled us all."

"It's not me that's fooling you!" Merlin protested.

"Silence!" Uther commanded, and Merlin was forced to oblige. "You've been found guilty of using magic and enchantments. In accordance with our laws, you will pay with your life. Take him away!"

With one final look at me and one final hard glare at Goblin-Gaius, Merlin was dragged off to the dungeons.

Blast Morgana being beside me. She couldn't be around me if Uther and I spoke privately.

"My Lord, a word?" I asked, and I followed him down the hall so I could talk to him.

"Yes, Elizabeth?" He inquired.

"You cannot honestly believe that Arthur's manservant," I said with a disbelieving laugh. "Is the one who did all those things? We're talking about a man who can barely tell which shoe goes on which foot!"

"There was evidence, therefore he was found guilty," Uther said simply.

"But my Lord, Gaius is the only one that has access to your remedies," I protested. "How could Merlin have had access to them, let alone enchant them? Plus, Merlin's saved Arthur's life, on more than one occasion. If he wanted Arthur dead, he would have done it a long time ago."

"I will hear no more of this!" Uther nearly boomed, and I stopped walking. "The boy has been found guilty, so he will die."

I growled. "I will not let you kill him, Uther Pendragon!" I called out after him, but he paid me no heed. Now I saw why Morgana and Morgause wanted to take him down so bad.

"Guinevere, I don't understand why you're in such a rush," I said as Gwen literally dragged me by my wrists to her house.

"Trust me, my Lady, you're going to want to see this," She insisted. We got to her front door and she opened it, calling out, "It's just me!"

A figure rolled out from under Gwen's bed, and I nearly cried when I recognized it to be Merlin. "Merlin!" I yelped, running over to him and jumping into his waiting arms. "You escaped! How?" I asked as I pulled back.

"Oh, I have my ways," He said, giving me a look that suggested he couldn't talk about it, which made me think of magic.

"Well, as long as you're safe," I said, patting his chest.

Merlin took my hand that was on his chest. "I'm fine, but Gaius won't be," He said, and we both turned to face Gwen, who was looking at the two of us a little oddly. "We need to force the goblin out of Gaius."

"And how do we do that?" Gwen asked.

"I don't know," Merlin admitted as he sat down in one of Gwen's chairs.

I sat down in another. "Well, that's just great. Who knows what the Goblin will try to pull next?"

"I'll try to sneak back to Gaius' chambers," Merlin suggested. "Maybe I can find something in one of his books."

"You might need a hand. I'll help," I offered, and he nodded in agreement.

"What can I do?" Gwen asked.

"Well, we need to convince Arthur," Merlin began. "Maybe if you speak to him, he might listen to you."

"No, I can't," Gwen immediately protested, stepping backwards.

"Why?" Merlin asked.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Do you not remember what happened at the council yesterday?" I asked him, remembering Gwen's unfortunate incident.

Gwen nodded in agreement. "I'll never be able to look Arthur in the face again."

"I know, it's embarrassing," Merlin said.

"It's more than embarrassing, Merlin!" Gwen exclaimed. "I cannot face him, ever."

"Come on, Gwen. It's not that bad," Merlin tried again. "All girls do it, don't they?" Merlin's face scrunched up so cutely at the end that I couldn't help my laugh.

"Not in public and certainly not in front of the man that they have feelings for!" She protested.

Merlin had caught her. "You still have feelings for Arthur?"

Gwen blushed as she said, "Not that it matters now, because he will never be able to look at me in the same way again."

I rolled my eyes at my best friend as I stood up and walked over to her. "Gwen, if Arthur has feelings for you, nothing in the world will make him change his mind about you. He'd like you for everything that you are," I said, taking her hands.

"Warts and farts and all," Merlin added as an afterthought.

Gwen gave him a mini glare. "Merlin, I haven't got any warts!"

"Then you'll talk to him?" Merlin asked hopefully.

"Arthur...Arthur what?" I asked, wishing for Gwen to repeat what she just said.

"He's...a donkey," She repeated.

"Arthur's a donkey?" Merlin asked, just trying to be sure.

"He has the ears of a donkey, and the voice," She continued. "He's...he's braying."

"He's...braying?" I repeated, the laughter building up in my chest. I tried to repress it, I really did, but one look at Merlin sent the two of us into deep laughter.

"It's not funny, you two!" Gwen slightly scolded, though she was trying her best not to laugh as well.

"Oh no, Arthur with the ears of a donkey. What's funny about that?" Merlin asked, trying to stifle his laughter.

Gwen finally cracked a smile and that sent the three of us into laughter. "He just looked so pitiful! I've never seen Arthur like that before."

"I just wish I had seen it," I said, wiping my eyes. "Oh, and if you think about it, now the two of you have embarrassed yourselves in front of each other. It's balanced out."

Gwen gave me a look as she said, "Did you two find anything?"

Merlin and I nodded. "We think so," He said for the both of us.

"If Gaius's body dies, then the Goblin will die as well," I began.

"So if Gaius is dying, the Goblin will be forced to leave him," Merlin concluded.

"You want to kill Gaius?" Gwen asked in bewilderment.

I scratched the back of my head. "Well, it sounded better when we came up with it."

"Once the Goblins leaves Gaius's body, we have to trap it into a box lined with lead," Merlin said as he went to check if the coast was clear. "It's the only container that will hold it."

"Where do we get a box lined with lead?" Gwen asked.

"Leave that to me," Merlin said before he sped out the door.

"Merlin!" I called after him. Was he seriously going to wander around Camelot without a disguise? "He's so stupid. What if he gets caught?"

"He won't," Gwen said. "I mean, at least I hope."

I rolled my eyes. "That boy is going to be the death of me," I said as I sat down.

Gwen chuckled. "You speak as if you're his wife."

My back stiffened as I froze. "Not like that would happen." Not that I wouldn't want to be his wife. I was sure Merlin would be a wonderful husband. And I think I felt something for him, something real strong, but that didn't mean that Merlin felt the same way.

Gwen made her way to the door as she said, "Whatever you say..." in a sing song voice.

"Wait, what do you mean by that?" I asked as I flew out of my chair after her.

Gwen and I managed to make it back to Gaius', where Merlin was concocting some sort of potion that he planned on dousing Arthur's gold coins in.

"Hurry up!" Gwen hissed from her position as guard.

"I'm doing my best!" Merlin protested, and I rolled my eyes as I went over to him. "Gaius usually deals with anything that has to do with poisons."

He quickly finished and poured the liquid on the gold. "As soon as the Goblin's out of Gaius, you must give him the antidote," Merlin said, holding up a vial filled with a white liquid. "We only have a few seconds or Gaius will, you know, die."

I gave him a worried look. "Maybe next time, I should deal with what poisons we pick."

"He's coming!" Gwen said suddenly, shutting the door.

Merlin shut the chest of gold and handed Gwen the antidote as I put the chest back where Merlin had originally found it. Then, the two of us fled into Merlin's room, where Gwen was waiting for us. She shut the door just as the front door opened.

The three of us poked our heads out to watch Goblin-Gaius take out the chest that we had poisoned. He immediately picked up some of the gold coins and began licking them, relishing in whatever taste they seemed to have. I wrinkled my nose in disgust.

Gwen must have felt the same way too, because she said, "Ugh, that's disgusting."

Goblin-Gaius put the coins back into the chest and closed the box, but the poison had already begun to take its effect. Merlin grabbed the box that was lined with lead, I grabbed a blanket, and the three of us walked out of his room.

"You've poisoned me!" Goblin-Gaius accused. "You've poisoned Gaius!"

"Leave him while you still have the chance!" I warned.

The Goblin popped out of Gaius's ear, still in his pixie form. While Gaius went sailing to the ground, the Goblin began speeding around the room.

"Now, Gwen!" Merlin called. "Get him the antidote!"

Unfortunately, the Goblin went straight for Gwen, who narrowly avoided him but cost her her footing. She fell to the ground and the antidote got mixed up in a bunch of more potions.

I immediately fell to the ground to help her find the right one while Merlin tried to capture the Goblin, but they all literally looked the same. Gaius seriously needed to invest in a labelling machine.

"Back in the box!" Merlin commanded.

"You'll have to catch me first!" The Goblin taunted.

Ugh, I have had enough.

I grabbed a frying pan that had fallen to the ground when Gwen tripped and ran over to the Goblin. Apparently he hadn't heard me approach, so I had no problem in whacking him over the head, hard.

The Goblin immediately began getting dizzy and fell to the ground. Merlin ran over and scooped him up into the box and shut the lid, starting to close the locks.

"Oh, no, let me out!" The Goblin started protesting weakly. "I promise I won't do it again!"

"If you want another smack over the head, I'll gladly let you out," I said sarcastically.

"I don't know which one's the antidote!" Gwen revealed, and Merlin ran over to help her look while I went to Gaius. I grabbed his face and tilted it to the side. His skin was cold and his face was paling. "You have to hurry!"

I put my hand on his face. "Werman ūp," I whispered quietly so that Gwen and Merlin couldn't hear me. It was a spell that was supposed to warm up Gaius, but it barely effected him. I tried not to let it get me down. Merlin just said that I needed a lot more practice in healing magic, and the good kind of healing magic. "Hurry, he doesn't have much longer!" I called out to them after I checked Gaius's pulse, which was dropping by the second.

"This one!" Merlin suddenly said, and he ran over to me. I moved over to make room, and Merlin poured the liquid into Gaius's mouth.

"Are you sure that was the antidote?" Gwen asked after nothing had happened for a few seconds.

"No!" Merlin said.

"Give it a minute," I suggested. "Maybe it needs a second."

"Gaius! Come on!" Merlin begged. "Please, come on, you stubborn old goat!"

"Who are you calling an old goat?" Gaius said very weakly.

The three of us instantly burst into relieved smile, and I buried myself into Merlin's side as he wrapped his arm around me, pulling me in for a hug. I laughed in relief as I rested my head in the crook of his neck.

Thank God.

Gaius stood before the King and the rest of the royal court, Merlin standing behind him. "You mean to tell me that it was you who was responsible for the, er...baldness, the flatulence, the boils, and Arthur's donkey ears?" Uther asked him, and I couldn't help the snort of laughter that escaped me at the thought.

Man I wished I had seen that!

"I fear it was, my Lord," Gaius confessed. "Or at least, the Goblin was while I was possessed by it."

"Magic has the power to corrupt even the most honourable of men," Uther allowed.

"Indeed," Gaius agreed. "Though, I must assure you, that Merlin was entirely innocent," Gaius said, gesturing to the warlock himself.

Okay, maybe he wasn't totally innocent. He was the one that unleashed the Goblin, after all.

"Then he is pardoned," Uther decreed.

Just as he spoke, the box that held the Goblin began making growling noises and shaking. Uther eyed it warily.

"May I suggest it is kept where no one will ever open it?" Gaius suggested.

"See that it's placed in the vaults," Uther said.

With a bow, Merlin and Gaius were about to leave when Uther stopped them. "Gaius, do you know who was responsible for unleashing the Goblin in the first place?"

My gaze immediately flickered to Merlin's, who was desperately trying not to twitch.

"I'm afraid I've no idea, my Lord," Gaius lied, as I knew he would. The court was then dismissed, with Uther telling Arthur to secure the Goblin right that very instance.

I was walking along the hall when I bumped into Merlin. "So, as usual, you don't get any credit," I said as we walked side by side.

"I said the same thing to Gaius, but he said that since releasing the Goblin was my fault, I didn't deserve the thanks," He said.

I lifted a shoulder. "He's right, in a way. But if it weren't for you, we'd still have a Goblin for a physician. Could you imagine?"

"I wouldn't even want to think about it," Merlin said, and we kept talking as we walked.

But I couldn't help but notice that Merlin was walking closer to me, closer than he had been to me before. So close, in fact, that our hands were brushing.

My fingers practically itched to hold his hand, but I held myself back. How awkward would I make things for myself? Merlin was my best friend. That was all I was in his eyes...right?

TBC...

Oh Elizabeth, how wrong you are.

DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THE NEXT EPISODE IS.

IT IS MY FAVOURITE EPISODE OF SEASON 3.

WE FINALLY GET TO BRING IN GWAINE!

Also, who knows? We might get to see a jealous Merlin!

THE ADVENTURES OF ELIZABETH MALINOR CONTINUE...

"The melee is the ultimate test of strength and courage," Arthur explained.

"Are you sure we're talking about the same thing?" Merlin asked as he thought to the violence and pointlessness of the tournament.

"I'm Gwaine," A handsome young man introduced himself.

Gwaine smashed a pot into a man's head while Elizabeth couldn't help but stare in amazement.

Gwaine knocked over a man who was about to try and kill Arthur, ending up with a knife wound in his leg.

"The man saved my life, Gaius," Arthur informed the physician as they laid him in Merlin's bed.

"The servant boy in on to us," The two fighters from the tavern that were masquerading as Knights realized.

"Merlin should be back by now," Gwaine said to an equally as worried Elizabeth.

Gwaine and one of the tavern-disguised knight fought with their swords.

"You're a very handsome man, Gwaine," Elizabeth praised him. "And sweet, and thoughtful, and..." Her mind trailed off as Gwaine leaned closer to her, their noses and lips almost brushing.

"I think they mean to kill Arthur in the melee," Merlin realized.

SHIT IS HEATING UP! TUNE IN NEXT EPISODE!
