Dear Yao Yao,

I got your letter, my letters and the diary. Although my Mandarin is admittedly patchy I think I understood the diary and why you had left it.

Arthur was wrong as per normal. I aged at an accelerated pace to match my nation. My parents understood somehow. The light has guided us all. My memories have been returning as I grew but I don't remember the Soviet Union. I do remember these letters and what came after… I'm sorry.

I never meant to hurt you with those. I wanted you to know how much I loved you, not bring you regret. I still love you Yao. You are my saving grace, my angel, my light…

I saw you outside my home, I remember it from when I was a child. You smiled at me among the others. You still caught my heart in that moment. I don't know how but it will always be you Yao. Until time ends and the world is destroyed it's you. Just you…

I hope you can forgive me Yao. I hope you all can. I'm trying to reply to everyone's notes and send them at once but I wanted to send yours first. Everyone was so kind. They expressed their guilt, their regret, how much they wanted to make amends when I'm back.

I know not all promises will be kept but it gave me a smile and will always make my heart warm reading them. I suppose you are all going to get the shock of your life when you get the letters. I have a good chuckle imagining some of the others faces when they get a letter from me so soon.

Regardless, I hope you can forgive me Yao. I still love you, I still remember you. I will never stop loving you but I know I still do not deserve your love in return but you seem to have chosen to give it to me in the moment of writing your letter. I hope you still feel the same.

I love you Yao, my Night sky, my dark ocean, my endless source of warmth.

Love,

Ivan B.

Ivan sighed as he walked back from the letter box. A small chuckle left his lips as he thought of all those lovable idiots faces when they saw his letter and realised he was back. As he turned the corner he saw a man standing before his door.

Long dark hair swept down his red coat and he looked to be shivering, facing the door with a suitcase by his side. A large one to.

Ivan stopped in shock, it was Yao. Yao Yao. His Yao.

Ivan felt an uncontrollable smile.

"Yao!" He ran to Yao. Yao turned in shock, he watched as Ivan slowed to stop in front of him.

Their eyes met in a moment of silence. Yao was shivering but he reached into his jacket and pulled out a letter, passing it to Ivan.

Ivan took it and slowly opened it. He looked up at Yao occasionally as he opened it. Yao just stared back.

Dear Ivan,

I love you. Be with me.

Love,

Yao.

Ivan looked up, Yao blinked and titled his head.

Ivan's smile spread and he chuckled.

"I love you to Yao," Ivan spoke softly.

Yao smiled and tippytoed to pull Ivan into a strong kiss.

They pulled back and Yao was teary.

"I missed you," Yao told him.

"I'm so sorry Yao Yao, I never meant to hurt you-"

"No, Ivan, no," Yao smiled at him. "I just missed you. Never leave me again."

"I promise," Ivan vowed with a nod. "Never, Never ever will I leave you."

"Good," Yao stroked his face softly. Ivan smiled and wiped a tear away.

Yao chuckled and looked down.

"I got your letter and came straight here," Yao told him.

Ivan gave a wonky smile: "Well one of us had to stop writing letters and actually show up eventually."

Yao cracked up and nodded: "I liked them. Despite how they made me feel in the moment. After knowing you'd come back they just filled me with hope."

"Then I will never stop writing my love for you Yao," Ivan kissed him. "I will keep writing until I run out ink then I'd use my own blood."

"Just tell me every day," Yao nodded. Another, stronger kiss. As they pulled apart they embraced.

"Can I stay?" Yao asked.

"You can stay as long as you wish," Ivan nodded. "I love you."

"I love you to Ivan," Yao smiled.

"Let's go inside, you're freezing," Ivan smiled, unlocking his door.

Inside they found each other.

Forever...
