Author's Notes; Dark Armors AU. POVs. Some Shounen Ai. Mostly Plot. So, now we have the weapons I designed for the armors. This one shows that the weapons themselves trigger the changes and we get to see one weapon do so to some extent. The other weapon's effects will be shown in the next few chapters as well as the powers they grant. Please enjoy.

X and I had just swept the cities of Abel and Doppler of the remanents of Sigma and Doppler's forces. We stood atop a cliff above the water, watching the sun setting. Both of us were lost in thought, reflecting on the fighting and wondering how long this rubbish would go on. By X's count, this was the third time Sigma had come back and the second time he had collaborated with someone to do so.

X was ready to return to base when the sun had vanished below the horizon. I told him I wanted to check something out and I would catch up. I waited for him to vanish into the distance before I teleported off the cliff. Ever since X had been captured by Mac in that old reploid factory, I had an odd feeling about the place. I wanted to investigate further just to be safe.

The feeling returned once I set foot inside the old factory. It felt like something was calling me. No words, but something drew me in. I observed old factory carefully, old reploids in pieces and whole gathering rust and dust littered much of the place. That odd feeling I had grew stronger when I found a sealed room with a plaque on the wall that read "Danger! Unexplained Anomalies!". I wasn't able to let that stop me as I drew my saber out. I swiftly cut out a large square from the steel barrier that bared my path and got clear. The steel square fell to the ground with a thud, kicking up a cloud of dust. I coughed as I raced into the room.

This room looked very medieval, as if it were an old blacksmith's shop where weapons were forged. In the back corner were two scythes lying against the wall under another plaque. One scythe was red and black, much like me, with spikes in the center of its main pole and the other was white, red, and blue with a small halo-like object in the center of its pole. The red one was glowing red brightly as I approached and other a faint light blue. The plaque here read, "Two scythes, one descended from Heaven and one ascended from Hell. Both choose their masters by shining bright. Both bless their wielders with strange powers, for better or worse. Though, one must be of pure and gentle heart to even touch either."

I blinked a few times. Do I dare check to see if I may be worthy of either? I've died once already so what the hell. The first one I slowly touched was the one with the halo. On this scythe's pole read the name "Corruption". A closer look showed that there was a light blue slit eye mounted into the top of its pole and the red mark across the blade was actually dried blood. Both scythes possessed strange guarded crystals mounted on the tops of their poles. Whatever they are, they must be an energy source. There was a mirror beside the scythes and when I touched Corruption, I saw no changes. This scythe hadn't been "calling me", so it must've have been the other one.

When I reached and touched the other scythe, changes did happen. The mirror showed I now had darker tan skin, my blond hair was now blood red, my chest lens were now a deep blue, my head crystal was now red, and thick black rings had settled under my eyes. There was also a red spiked collar with black spikes on my neck and all the gray sections of my armor were red too. This made me realize that it was this scythe that had called me. This scythe's name appeared to be "Nethersbane". I observed that this scythe had two poles, one red that criss-crossed and intersected the spikes on the center of the main black pole. It also had spikes at the top of the pole, one diamond-shaped and one triangular. I then looked back to Corruption. I wondered if I could train X in melee weapons with this. Corruption hadn't given me any noticeable change, but what about X? If I'm Nethersbane's master, maybe Corruption could have a similar effect on X. There was only one way to know. I took both scythes with me as I ran out of the old factory. It was getting late and soon it would be too dark to see.

One member of the press raised his hand with a blank look. X pointed to him. "Yes?" "Do you have any idea how fictional this all sounds? Do you really expect anyone to believe any of this?" The old human asked. X looked to me. "Sounds like someone is questioning your credibility, Commander. We can't have that." I chuckled. "No, indeed. Why not retrieve Nethersbane and demonstrate?" X nodded with a grin as he got up and left the room, some of the press moved for him.

X soon came back with the black and red scythe. It was glowing faintly in X's hands. The press began murmuring, wondering how X was even able to touch or carry such a devilish weapon. As X drew closer, Nethersbane began glowing brighter, resonating with me. "Perhaps this will settle any disbelief." I said, reaching and taking Nethersbane gently from X. All the traits I had described appeared before them. All of them gasped as I laid the hell-sent scythe over my lap. Many dropped their notebooks, cameras, and pens and in their rush to pick them up, some of their belongings were mixed up. I chuckled to myself at their scramble as I took X's hand and eased him back to his seat.
