Author's Notes; Dark Armors AU. Zero's POV. Some of X's POV. Mostly Plot. Some fluff. X learns his new powers and both get in trouble in the process of that and while learning their second forms..Been a fortnight since I worked on this one, huh..? The ideas took their time coming to me..Better than none though..and slowly but surely, more is to come..for now, please enjoy..
During a week of training, I managed to glimpse Signas watching us before he noticed my glance and vanished. This happened several times over. X often wondered what I was staring and making faces at, but Signas was too fast.
It proved to be a very interesting week, regardless. When he was pushed enough, we finally learned X's new powers. I gave X a challenge; Defeat a simulation of Flame Mammoth with nothing but his Dark Armor. No old water weapons allowed. I kept inventory on his old water weapons during that challenge. I saw X gulp and put faith in his Buster, unable to use his scythe too. A deluge of water erupted from X's buster, swamping the Flame Mammoth simulation and flooding the training room. The training room locked down and several drains were uncovered, draining out the water slowly and automatically shutting down the simulator.
The water was rather effective on me too, slamming me into the upper portion of the bleachers and hard enough to bruise my left side pretty good, which also tore my underarmor a little. The receding water pulled X's old water weapons back towards him. I watched him pick the weapons up before stumbling and then falling off the bleachers.
X took the stage for a bit for the press. I kept my hand on his hip to give him some courage.
We learned that I could control water, though it seemed far more powerful than any of Earth's tides or currents. I could also heal too. I apologized up and down to Zero for not only flooding the training room, but also hurting him in the process. I was glad to help him, but even now, I feel really guilty about the whole scene. We were fussed at by Signas for flooding the training room and not allowed in for several days. That's when I noticed something; Signas was giving us long stares when scorning us before walking away. Zero was right, something about Signas is very strange indeed.
I took back over when X's words ran dry.
That weekend, we trained later in the day. Well, it actually was evening. We just so happened to have picked the nights of the new moon. Our armors changed strangely those nights. X gained angelic wings and red-purple collar with a red gem that responded to me strongly with gentle glows when we were close. My armor became demonic. I gained two sets of wings, one on my helmet for decoration, and one large pair on my back for flight with colorful lines ending in circles for design. My hands were now red-purple with torn black gloves and black claws. My new wings also had a black claw each.
We took the first night to learn how to fly. We started out hovering just above the ground before ending up chasing each other playfully around the training room. I noticed I couldn't make strong gusts of wind like before, but also that each breath I exhaled appeared as small puffs of vapor, as if the room were cold. When I was able, I could see X was doing it too. It intrigued both of us, but we were having too much fun flying, chasing, and air tackling each other that night.
The second moonless night was spent understanding what this strange vapor we exhaled was. Neither of us were cold so that couldn't be the cause. When X let out a sigh, he accidentally breathed a small stream of purple-tinted ice shards. I did the same when I took a deep breath and relaxed my shoulders. At last, we found a power we shared, this strange purple ice beam. Trying it out, unfortunately, froze half the training room. We were in for another earful from the new commander.
