Author's Notes; Dark Armors AU. POVs. Zero's POV at the beginning, the rest is X's POV. Some Fluff. Some Drama. I wanted it to be a bit touchy-feely here with X being sad and Zero on the verge of sorrow, but I have my doubts on whether I succeed there..Brain of course says no, but I gave it a shot..This chapter is short because I want to do the perspectives of both hunters during their separation..Please enjoy..
The press adjourned for their lunch break and to catch up on their notes outside the conference room. As soon as the door closed, X turned towards me and snuggled me tightly. He was holding back tears, I could feel it. I always said he was too sensitive, but I had to admit, it was very touching how he described his reaction to when I was dragged away by those reploids. I could only imagine his disappointment when he hoped to find me outside HQ, but I had left already. It would have been too obvious. We had been training together so it would have been natural for Signas to assume that I had taken X with me when I fled so I had to do it.
My assistant commander turned back towards the door just as the press came back in after their lunch break. He did his best to keep his tears back from them, taking the floor first this time. I tried to keep a straight face as he talked, but I don't know how good a job I did.
I searched all over Abel City on my new silent wings that evening. I checked every place I could think of that we went together recently and on patrol. Some people were scared of me in my new armor, though I didn't think my armor was anywhere near as intimidating as Zero's new form. For those that didn't flee, I asked around for a bat-like reploid with long blood red hair. Many, if not all, had never heard of a reploid like that. Zero was nowhere to be seen in Abel City so he must've gone somewhere remote.
By using dead reckoning, I picked a direction which ended up being due east. I flew away from Abel City, past Doppler Town, and out over the ocean. I turned my communication signal off, but kept my communication link on to track him. I searched Doppler Town too, even the old reploid warehouse again where I was caught by Mac. Nothing. No signs of anything black over the ocean either.
I found my hope running dry as I flew over and scanned the ocean. No traces at all and no signal either. I was perhaps halfway across the ocean when I finally got a signal on my communication link. I flew faster over the wide ocean and into a desert and soon found the figure I was looking so hard for.
