A/N Hey guys so here's the next chapter. Now admittedly it's a little shorter than the last two. But i assure you the chapter afterwards more than makes up for it. Enjoy!

When the group of six arrived at the room a timer that read 50:00 appeared on a sign above the door. Each of them took a place to either sit or look around. As they looked around they noticed the room had grey walls, it had a refrigerator in the corner left to the main door, it had a flat screen tv on a small tv stand in the center of the room against the wall, it also had two more leather chairs and a love seat spread out around the room, lastly there was a coffee table shaped like an L with an electric tea pot on top of it and a tall bookcase full of different kinds of books. Leorio walked over to a nearby couch and plopped himself down while complaining "Oh, come on, give me a break. Can't believe we've got to sit around here for 50 hours." Kurapika who was standing next to Killua by the entrance asked him "Killua." Killua looked at Kurapika saying "Huh?" Kurapika then continued his question "Can you tell me how that technique works?" Killua looked at Kurapika questioningly and asked "What do you mean "technique"?" Ferev however spoke up saying "He means the "Dragon claw" technique you used to rip out Johness heart." Killua and the others looked at Ferev in shock surprised that he knew Killua's ability. Kurapika still shocked asked him "How do you know the name of his ability Ferev?"

Ferev who was standing at the bookcase started walking over to them with a slight glare in his eyes as he spoke "It's a family trait only the Zoldyck's are capable of doing. They are able to manipulate their hands into claws that are sharper than any blade, and it's actually the same technique that was used to kill my master." he finished while looking down at Killua who was looking up at Ferev with an icy stare they both stared at each other for a few minutes Gon not liking the tension tried speaking "hey, guys let's just-" but he was cut off by Ferev who suddenly spoke to Killua "Killua just answer one question for me." Killua just continued to stare but gave a slight nod. Ferev then asked his question "How old are you?" Killua's eyes widened in surprise before he looked at Ferev questioningly as did everyone else not expecting that question. Killua just replied with "I'm twelve" Ferev closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them and saying "Okay, thank you, that's all I needed to know sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Ferev went back to the bookcase and started browsing for a book to read. Everyone looked at each other awkwardly when Killua suddenly morphed his hand into a claw and stared at it everyone looked at Killua's hand in surprise proving what Ferev said to be true. Killua then changed his hand back and looked at Ferev briefly before he looked to Gon with a smile and said "All right then, we've got more than two days." the tension that was in the air disappearing quickly. Gon looked at the timer clock before looking back at Killua asking "So what do you want to do?"

Killua looked at Gon with a happy smile while saying "We got to do something. First, let's search the room to see if there's anything to play with." Gon liking that idea simply said "Okay." Leorio just watched them run by and said "Kids! Not a care in the world, huh?" Tonpa chose to sit in one of the leather chairs while saying "Time to take a load off." Kurapika sat on the love seat and pulled out a book from his satchel and began reading it. After three hours of staying in the stuffy room, everyone had decided to dress more comfortably and removed their shoes and outer clothing. Ferev himself had removed his coat and boots placed them over by the wall. He had made a pot of tea which everyone was thankful for, Ferev was now currently sitting on the ground by the coffee table, he was reading a book he grabbed with his left hand while his right hand held his tea cup as he drank it. Tonpa was sitting next to him on his left silently drinking his own tea with his eyes closed. Killua and Gon were trying out tricks on Killua's skateboard. Killua himself kicked off the skate board making it twist several times in the air before he caught it. As he handed the skateboard to Gon he said "Be careful not to hesitate on the first step or you're gonna hurt yourself." Gon grabbed the skateboard and said "I gotcha."

Leorio who was sitting on the love seat next to the bookcase looked over to Kurapika who was standing next to him and asked "Hey, Kurapika. Once we've finished spending our 50 hours here, we'll have less than ten hours left, right?" Kurapika answered him with "Yes. That's correct." Leorio then spread his arms out while laughing and saying "Great! That's way more time than we'll need, so no harmdone!" Tonpa put his tea down and glanced at Ferev and saw that his hands were full so he said "You're a fool." Leorio glared and Tonpa and growled out "What's that?" Tonpa then continued to berate Leorio "The Third Phase of the Hunter Exam is supposed to take 72 hours. Each new phase weeds out more of the applicants. It's too bad you can't win a game of rock-paper-scissors when it counts. You also deliberately lost a bet just so you could cop a fe-" Tonpa was cut off as Ferev backhanded him in the face making him drop his hot tea and spill it all over himself as he rolled backwards into the wall. Ferev then caught the book he was reading that he had thrown in the air in his left hand without losing his place. He then said "Shut up Tonpa. At least Leorio didn't outright surrender like a little bitch." Leorio smiled at Ferev thankful for the defense but he flinched suddenly because Ferev looked at Leorio with an annoyed look before saying "Don't you know that there are groupies specifically dedicated to Hunters? And if you were to pass the Hunters Exam you can find them easily and go all the way just like that." Ferev emphasized his point by snapping his fingers. Leorio looked at Ferev in shock and a blush across his face while he leaned forward shouting "Wait! Seriously?" Ferev threw his hands up saying "Of course! Hunters are the most sought-after profession and the most dangerous so of course there would be women attracted to those types of individuals." Kurapika had sweat drops on his head as he said with an awkward smile "To get things back on track, even though we have ten hours it all depends on the remaining trials ahead if we make it to the base in time."

Leorio then sighed while closing his eyes and saying "Yeah. I guess you've got a point." Tonpa who had just recovered from being knocked into the wall had sat back down in his original spot when suddenly Killua's skateboard came flying by and hit Tonpa in the head knocking him out cold. Leorio looked towards Gon and Killua yelling "Hey! What are you doing?!" Gon just rubbed his head while saying "Oops! Sorry." Leorio just frustratingly replied "This room isn't big enough for skateboarding, so knock it off!" Gon just started to whine as he and Killua put the skateboard away. Another few hours later Leorio and Tonpa were sleeping on the floor and couch while Gon and Killua were sharing the love seat. Kurapika and Ferev however were still up reading different books. Ferev was sitting against the wall a few feet from Kurapika who was sitting in one of the leather chairs.

Ferev looked at Kurapika and remembered his match with Majitani. Ferev then closed his book and made his way over to Kurapika before plopping himself down a couple feet next to him before saying quietly "So, Kurapika you're from the Kurta clan aren't you?" Kurapika looked at Ferev in surprise before looking down at his lap and asked "How did you know?" Ferev just looked at Kurapika questioningly before replying "You weren't really hiding it when you laid out Majitani. Your eyes gave you away instantly, might I make a suggestion for when you become a Hunter?" Kurapika just looked at Ferev and nodded while saying "Sure." Ferev then pointed at his own eyes while saying "You should get some contact lenses that can hide the color of your eyes. That way if you ever get emotional no one can guess who you are just like I did." Kurapika's eyes widened at the suggestion the idea never crossing his mind. Kurapika then smiled at Ferev while saying "Thank you for the wise advice. I will be sure to take it under serious consideration." Ferev just nodded before saying "No problem and to be honest I want to see you succeed same with Gon and the others. Well, maybe not Tonpa." Ferev then chuckled while Kurapika laughed a little as well. After a few Minutes of silence Ferev spoke up once again "You know, you and I are very similar in some regards." Kurapika just looked at Ferev listening intently to what he had to say. Ferev then continued with what he was saying "We both have lost people we care about granted I haven't lost as much as you have but my master, he was also basically my father." Kurapika's eyes widened at that asking "What about your birth parents?" Ferev just looked at Kurapika with dejected eyes while asking "Have you ever heard of Meteor City?" Kurapika's eyes once again widened in surprise while he said "You're from Meteor City?"

Ferev just nodded as he continued his story "When I was just a baby my parents threw me out with all the other garbage of the city. Why they did it I'll never know and I honestly don't care. When my master found me, I was near death but he nursed me back to full health and raised me. When I was old enough, he started training me in martial arts to protect myself from the dangers of the city. The day he died is the day my world fell apart." Ferev finished with his hair shadowing his eyes. Kurapika was stunned not only was Ferev a resident of Meteor City but also lost the only family he had when he was very young. Kurapika then looked down at his lap and as Ferev was about to leave Kurapika spoke up saying "The only reason I survived the massacre was because I wanted to see the outside world and I cheated to pass an exam that would allow me to leave my clan's village. I had heard about the massacre when the news broadcasted it and I ran straight home but what I found was my entire clan dead their eyes stolen from their bodies not one escaping desecration. On one of their bodies was a note saying 'No one can hide from us. This is what happens when you try to outwit a spider' It was then I swore to capture the Phantom Troupe and get my clan's eyes back."

Ferev just nodded while saying "That's one of the most horrifying things I've heard but I understand though Kurapika and I promise you this if you ever need my help all you need to do is call me one avenger to another deal?" he then held his hand out for Kurapika to shake. Kurapika just smiled before shaking his hand saying "deal." Kurapika's eyes suddenly widened however when he thought of something and started digging into his bag before handing a book to Ferev. Ferev took the book while looking at Kurapika questioningly and asked "What's this?" Kurapika just said "It's a book my clan wrote I think you might get more use out of it then me." Ferev's eyes widened realizing the value of the item and tried handing it back while saying "I can't accept this! This is all you have left." Kurapika just pushed the book back into Ferev's hands while saying "It's fine the book isn't important. What is important is getting my clan's eyes back." Kurapika then started to yawn and said "I'm very tired I'll think I'll go to bed now, goodnight Ferev." Ferev just nodded while saying a quick goodnight before going over to the remaining leather chair and sitting down in it while looking at the book Kurapika gave him reading the title as it said "Poetry of the Kurta." After their emotional talk Ferev wasn't really tired and decided to open his new book and start reading.

About an hour later Killua hadn't been able to sleep at all. He had been thinking about what Ferev said about his family and sat up and looked over to where Ferev was sitting and noticed he was still awake while reading a book. Killua not liking how they had left things decided to walk over and sit next Ferev who in turn raised his eyebrow at Killua's action before reading again. As he was reading Killua suddenly spoke up saying "I'm sorry." Ferev looked at Killua in shock his book temporarily forgotten. Killua had his head turned slightly with a slight blush and he was pouting in embarrassment but he continued speaking "I mean I'm guessing my old man was the one who was hired to do the job. He's the only one I can think of who could've done it so, I'm sorry for what he did." Killua then looked at Ferev with a determined stare as he said "And just so you know I hate my family just as much as you do." Ferev honestly taken aback by Killua's words had a shocked look on his face before he smiled at Killua and said "You don't need to apologize you weren't even there when it happened." Killua just scoffed and said with his hands behind his head and eyes closed "Still though, it's not like my old man will say sorry so I thought someone should." Ferev just smiled at Killua again before saying "Thank you. I appreciate that." Ferev was about to go back to his book when Killua asked him a sudden question. "If you don't mind me asking, what was your master's name?"

Ferev put his book down again as he considered the question. Killua thinking he may have crossed a line was about to get up before Ferev suddenly said "His name was Kenshiro." When Ferev spoke his master's name Killua was almost practically in his lap with a look of pure excitement and Ferev could have sworn his face resembled a cats. Killua with an excited voice said "Are you serious?! That guy was your master?" Ferev surprised that Killua was close to him and that he apparently knew who his master was questioned "How do you know about him?" Killua with his hands in his lap excitedly explained "My old man would constantly tell me the story of this target he was hired to kill during my training. He said it was the only fight he ever came close to defeat. My big brother Milluki once told me how bad my old man was injured that day."

Flashback: Zoldyck family home 17 years ago

Kikyo Zoldyck stood in the main hall of their family home. The hall was huge easily able to fit 100 people the top of the walls decorated with dragons while the walls were lit with blue torches, the ceiling was held up by two rows of pillars, in the very back of the room was a cushioned throne decorated to be three dragons merging into one while the front of the room was decorated with two huge doors in the shape of a dragon about to breath fire. Kikyo stood by the cushioned throne with her second oldest son Milluki standing by her side. Millki was a very chubby child wearing sweatpants with sneakers and a little hoodie while grasping his mother's hand as she rubbed her pregnant belly in worry awaiting her husband's return. Kikyo was an attractive woman in her mid-twenties, she wore a traditional Japanese Kimono, her long hair was tied into a bob with chop sticks keeping it together, on her feet, she wore traditional tabi socks and Geisha sandals, lastly her eyes were deep black as if her eyes were empty.

As Kikyo continued to rub her belly in worry she thought to herself "He never takes this long on a job, this is the first time I have ever been worried about him." Just as Kikyo was going to assume the worst the huge doors opened up revealing a sixteen-year-old Illumi who walked into the room before standing aside and allowing his father to pass through. What Kikyo saw next made her gasp in shock and place her hand to her mouth as tears streamed down her face. Silva was a complete mess His right arm was completely limp and being held by his left arm and blood was running down both of them. The left side of his face was also covered in blood making him close his left eye, he had Mutiple bruises and cuts across his body, and as he approached his wife, he had a slight limp. When Silva finally made it to the throne he plopped down immediately with a grunt of pain as he said "Kikyo call Gotoh and tell him to bring as many medical butlers we have." Kikyo still stunned to see her husband in such a state just stared before Silva snapped yelling "Now Kikyo!" Kikyo instantly snapped out of her stupor and ran to the nearest phone while Milluki asked "What happened papa?" Silva grunting in pain answered with "A job that was not worth a single cent that I was given." Kikyo ran to Silva's side while saying "Gotoh is on his way with the medical team." Silva once again grunted while saying "Good and destroy all the records involving that client we are never taking a job for him again." As Gotoh and the others arrived Milluki just watched as his father, the head of the family get stitched back together as if it was his first time on the job."

Trick Tower 12:00 midnight present day

When Killua finished his story Ferev was speechless he had no idea his master had done that much damage to Silva. As Killua contiuned to look at Ferev with excitement, Ferev just smiled to himself while thinking "He really is just a kid looking to have fun, and if I'm honest with myself he wasn't even born when the incident happened." he then looked at Killua and said "Hey, do you wanna know more about him?" Killua looked even more excited as he nodded his head furiously. Ferev just laughed a little before saying "Okay but let's make a game out of it, I'll tell a story about my master then you tell a story about yourself then vice versa sound fair?" Killua just held his hand out to be shook as he sat cross-legged in front of Ferev saying "Deal." after they shook hands Ferev went first telling a story about his master. Over in the corner however, Kurapika woke up briefly after hearing Killua and Ferev talk. He had a small smile on his face as he heard Ferev and Killua bond. he then thought to himself "I guess he's not as cold a person as I once thought." he then went back to sleep.

After Killua and Ferev talked for another hour or two both decided to go to bed. When it was close to morning the timer on the wall read 40:00. Killua who had woken up looked towards Gon and had a Mischievous idea. He picked up his Pillow and threw it at Gon who then somehow in his sleep blocked it and threw it back at Killua. Killua was at first shocked that Gon had such good reflexes until he noticed Gon smirking in his sleep. Killua smiled like a Cheshire cat before he then threw the pillow again this time even harder. Gon knowing his hoax was up grabbed the pillow and threw it at Killua starting a pillow fight between the two. Ferev who had been sleeping in the chair using his coat as a blanket woke up to the two playing around before he smiled and then yawned. Ferev then got up and went to the teapot and began brewing a morning pot of tea. Meanwhile Leorio yelled at the two youths saying "Knock it off, you guys!" Killua and Gon just laughed before continuing their horseplay Leorio just grumbled while rolling over on the couch and said "Some of us are tryin' to sleep!"

Tonpa then chose that moment to put his smelly foot right in Leorio's face Making him gag and say "Gross!" Killua, Gon, and even Kurapika Laughed at Leorio's misfortune. Ferev However, was keeping a close eye on Tonpa after he did that. As Ferev finished making the tea Leorio said "Not funny! What the hell is wrong with you guys?" Leorio just leaned over Tonpa growling "You bastard! You'd better not be pretending to be asleep." Leorio then backed away but Tonpa peeked his eye open thinking no one saw him. Ferev however, who had been watching him this whole time had noticed him open his eye. Ferev then walked over to Tonpa's head with a cup of tea in hand and poured the hot cup of tea on top of Tonpa's face making Tonpa sit up and yell "yowwwwwww" while cradling his now burnt face. Ferev just had an uncaring gaze and frown saying "Teas ready." before going and sitting back down by the coffee table. Leorio realizing now Tonpa had been awake said "Serves you right you bastard! Well, I guess I'm awake now." Leorio then went and sat down next to Ferev, gratefully accepting a cup of tea from him. As Leorio drank his tea he said "Damn. And we've still got 40 more hours left to go."

A few hours later around 11:30 in the morning Everyone could be seen spending the time doing their own thing. Leorio was trying to take a nap on the couch, Tonpa was clipping his toenails on one of the chairs, Kurapika was reading another book while sitting in the other chair alongside a tower of books he's already read, Gon and Killua were trying out Gon's fishing rod on the loveseat across from Leorio, And lastly Ferev was practicing some martial arts kata's in the corner of the room. As Ferev practiced he thought about what Killua had told him last night as he glanced over at him "To think, his family would actually torture a new-born baby and then send him out to kill someone when he was three years old." Ferev looked away from Killua as he glared at the wall slightly before continuing his thought "He's never truly had anyone look out for him, and not only that, from the way he described leaving his family they might be coming after him too. Killua also told me a little about Gon and his reasons for becoming a hunter. I think After this exam is over, I'm gonna keep an eye on these two for a little while. See if I can't push them in the right direction."

Over with Killua and Gon, Killua was looking at Gon's hook on his fishing rod while saying "Hm. I thought fishing was just putting some bait on a hook and throwing it in the water." Gon who was holding the rod itself nodded at Killua before explaining the finer arts of fishing "Uh-huh. But you've also got to think like a fish." Killua looked at Gon skeptically while asking "And that's supposed to work?" Gon just smiled and continued his explanation while mimicking his hands as if he was fishing "Yep. How would a fish feel if it saw bait dangling in front of it?" Gon then held his hand out while saying "Gimme!" referring to the hook in Killua's hand. Gon then retracted his fishing line before holding the hook by the weight and with a focused gaze he cast the line, the hook landing perfectly into Tonpa's tea cup. Tonpa just looked at the hook surprised it even showed up in the first place before Gon retracted his fishing line. Killua looked at Gon and the fishing rod excitedly saying "Oh, wow! Let me give it a try!" Gon then handed Killua the fishing rod who in turn copied Gon's previous actions. He was holding the hook by the weight and staring at the tea cup with a focused gaze. With a concentrating exhale Killua cast the line while saying "So, like this?" The hook landing a few inches from Leorio's feet on the couch completely missing the tea cup. Gon just laughed at Killua's blunder saying "You missed." Killua had a sly smile on his face as he said "Yeah, but watch this!" Killua then flicked his wrist making the hook grip onto Leorio's pant leg. As Killua started to reel in the fishing line Leorio woke up grunting in frustration "Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing?! Stop!" Killua just continued to reel in the fishing line saying "Right on target!" Gon watching with a smile and saying "Nice!" Leorio trying to unhook his pants before they tore yelled "Wait! You're gonna tear my pants! Knock it off!" He then managed to unhook himself his pants being dragged off a little.

As Leorio adjusted himself Killua caught the hook while saying "Ya see? I landed a big one." Gon just looked at Killua smiling and saying "Yep." Leorio stood up yelling at the two youths "Do I look like a fish to you?! Come on! Grow up!" Killua had a small frown while spoke in a childish tone "Well, you don't have to get so mad. It's not like I'm gonna grill you and eat you like Kisune." Killua then had a cheeky smirk when he said that. Leorio mad at Killua's statement and actions just yelled "Just leave me the hell alone!" he then sat back down on the couch grumbling to himself "Can't a guy just take a nap around here?" Killua and Gon just laughed like the kids that they were. Ferev couldn't help but chuckle a little as well at the scene before continuing his training.

After a few hours or so went by, Leorio having just turned off the T.V. went and laid down on the couch and looked to the timer on the wall which read 22:06 signifying that over 20 hours have gone by. Everyone else on the other hand had decided to lay down for the night as well Gon and Killua were asleep on the loveseat, Tonpa was asleep on the floor again, Ferev was curled up in the chair with his coat ,Kurapika had fallen asleep reading a book but awoke briefly when he heard Leorio turn off the T.V. but he just got more comfortable before going back to bed. Leorio was staring at the ceiling thinking about what Tonpa had said about him earilier. He kept thinking about how he had wasted everyone's 50 hours and risked their chances of passing the Exam. However, Leorio soon just closed his eyes hoping to get some sleep and stop thinking about his mistakes.

After many more hours of patiently waiting, the group's 50-hour penalty was finally almost up the timer reading 00:02. Everyone was fully geared up and ready to go, Ferev just tightened his boot straps while Gon grabbed his backpack's straps saying "Okay! I'm ready to go!" everyone was positioned at the door ready to run out as soon as possible. Kurapika while looking at the door said "One more minute..." Leorio sighed frustratingly after a few seconds and said "This one minute's taking forever, huh?" Soon though a buzzer went off and the door unlocked allowing the applicant's through. The group of six then ran out the door down hallway towards their goal. Soon they arrived back at the platform where they had had their tournament and apparently Johness body had been cleaned up. They then took the new path that had opened in the room and began running again.

Soon the group began running into a series of different trials and obstacles before finally coming to a stop in a room with a door that had an electronic sign on it with the slots for them to vote X and O. Leorio spoke up saying "We're supposed to vote on whether to open the door? We need to move on, so the choice is pretty clear." everyone's wrist timer beeping then echoed throughout the room. The letter O then appeared on the left side of the door with the number 5 next to it while the letter X appeared on the right side with the number 1 next to it. Leorio rightfully thinking Tonpa was sabotaging them again turned around and grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt saying "I've had enough of your crap!" Tonpa trying to defend himself said "What are you talking about? I pressed 'O', too!" Leorio not buying it just glared at Tonpa while pulling him closer and growled out "Don't you lie to me! Sabotaging our chances is your freakin' specialty!" however, before Leorio could Interrogate Tonpa further Gon spoke up saying with an apologetic look "Sorry, Leorio." Leorio just continued to glare at Tonpa as Gon continued while pointing to himself "I accidently pressed the wrong button." Leorio glanced at Gon from behind with an annoyed glare saying "What?" however Leorio just closed his eyes briefly while sighing before letting Tonpa go and heading for the door.

As Leorio was getting ready to walk away Tonpa spoke up saying "Hold on. I think you owe me an apology. You think-" Tonpa was cut off by Ferev who got right in his face while pointing at him and making him back up into the wall "No one owes you shit 'Tonpa the rookie crusher'." Tonpa flinched a little at his moniker. Ferev just smirked saying "Yeah, thought we forgot about your little speech back at the platform, did you? I have another new rule for ya, you try and pull anything else while I'm here I'll knock your ass out and drag you to the base of the tower get me?" By the time Ferev finished his little tangent he had his finger pressed directly against Tonpas now healed nose making him scrunch up his face in discomfort. As Ferev was talking to Tonpa Killua's voice suddenly spoke up, Killua who was halfway through the door into the other room. Killua ducked his head out as he said "Hey, Ferev! Gon! We must be getting really close to the end!" Killua then went back into the room Gon following after him saying "Whoa! Really?" soon the others followed after them. They entered another grey room only this one had two iron doors with an iron maiden decoration on display above and in-between the two doors. The first door on the left had a giant red X painted on it while the door to the right had a giant red O painted on it and in-between the two doors in the center was another electric sign with slots for X and O. However, the most eye-catching thing about the room was that every inch of the room was decorated with an assortment of weapons ranging from axes to swords and even knives.

Killua looked at the sign and began to read aloud "Let's see. This will be the last decision made by majority rule. Are you ready? Choose O or X and that's it." Leorio just scoffed while saying "Am I Ready? Of course, I am! Let's do this!" they all then hit their respective buttons the numbers and letters O-5 X-1 appearing on the sign. However, nothing happened the doors remaining shut, but soon a beeping sound was heard before Lippo's voice came on over the speaker again. "Please select a path. There are two available options to choose from. The long and difficult path which the entire group can take, or the short and easy path which will be limited to only three of you. Incidentally, if you choose the long and difficult path, it will require a minimum of 45 hours to complete. While the short and easy path will lead you directly to the goal in approximately three minutes. Press 'O' to select the long and difficult path, or press 'X' to choose the short and easy path. If 'X' is selected, three applicants from your group must be chained to the wall with handcuffs before the door will open. Those applicants will be unable to move until the time limit has expired." Lippos voice cut off again while Killua and the others looked around the room and their wrist timers the time reading 00:59:24 showing they had less than an hour to finish the phase of the Exam. Killua noticed the assortment of weapons everywhere and voiced his opinion out loud "The Examiners thought of everything. Every weapon I've ever heard of is down here." Kurapika who had his eyes closed in thought said "So, three out of six, huh? Then they must expect us to fight to decide which three pass."

Leorio suddenly spoke up in an ominous tone "All right. I want to make this clear. I'm pressing the 'X' button. But I'm not staying behind.I'm one of the three that's moving on and I'll do whatever it takes." everyone looked at Leorio with slightly harsh looks, Tonpa thinking he had an idea of where this was going to lead, he started backing up slowly towards one of the axes on the wall behind him while thinking "Well, I've made it this far. No way I'm stopping now. Whoever makes the first move wins." Kurapika not believing he came all this way just to betray his new friends grit his teeth with his eyes still closed he thought "Is this really what it's come to? We have to fight amongst ourselves?" Ferev then stepped forward saying "Now hang on a second Leorio let's not say or do anything hasty. there has to be a loop hole of som-" Ferev was cut off suddenly however when Tonpa yelled and swung an axe at both Ferev and Leorio. Ferev pushed Leorio away from him and the axe landed in-between Ferev and Leorio the blade embedded in the stone floor just missing the two of the them. Gon noticing how easily the bladed weapon penetrated the stone started forming an idea in his head while Leorio grabbed another axe from the wall that Ferev had pushed him into. Leorio then started attacking Tonpa beginning a small duel of sorts. Gon eyes suddenly widened when he had a brilliant idea and tried to get the others to stop fighting by yelling "You guys! Stop! I know what to do!" but Tonpa and Leorio were too caught up in the fighting to even hear Gon. Killua himself began to morph his right hand into a claw while saying "Looks like fighting is our only option."

Ferev who had heard Gon Got in-between Leorio and Tonpa while grabbing both their axes and as he did a 360 spin he disarmed both of them. He then twirled the axes with mastered ease between his fingers and then slammed both blades into the stone floor. Ferev wasn't done though He then rushed at Tonpa his index and middle fingers posed to strike. Tonpa remembering what Ferev did to the prisoner on the platform with those fingers yelled with his hands waving in front of him in defense "Wait! please don't! I don't want to die!" Ferev ignored Tonpa's pleas and jabbed him twice in both his arms. Tonpa held his arms up with his eyes closed awaiting the inevitable but when nothing happened, he sighed in relief until suddenly his arms went completely limp. Tonpa started panicking and stared at his arms while screaming "What did you do! I can't feel my arms!" Ferev just grabbed Tonpa's face squeezing his mouth shut and making his lips pucker. Ferev then glared at Tonpa saying harshly "I disconnected the nerves in your arms. you won't be able to use them for about 6 hours. You try something like that again I'll do worse next time. Now, Gon you were trying to tell us something?" Ferev then looked to Gon while shoving Tonpa away making him stumble. Gon then nodded with a determined look and said while pointing at the axes Ferev embedded in the floor "Just hear me out okay? You see these weapons? They're strong enough to break through the stone that the room is made of. I say we all press 'O' then use the weapons to break down the wall that leads to the short and easy path then take that way to reach our goal." Ferev just had a toothy grin as he clapped Gon on the back saying "You little genius. You should have been a lawyer." Ferev finished with a laugh before grabbing one of the axes he embedded in the floor before handing it to Leorio and grabbing the other one for himself. Leorio rolling up his sleeves said with enthusiasm "Okay! Let's do this guys. We can make it if we all work together!" Ferev couldn't help but laugh and say "Well, all of us except Tonpa he can't move his arms right now." everyone then laughed at Tonpa's misfortune who just grumbled as he sat down in the corner. They soon began working on breaking down the wall after pressing 'O' on their wrist timers, Gon having to walk over to Tonpa and press 'O' for him.

After what seemed like hours the group finally made through the wall and down the short and easy path. The group of six found themselves going down a huge stone slide that lead to an opening at the end of a tunnel. As Kurapika, Gon, Killua, and Ferev emerged from the tunnel Lippo's voice was heard over a speaker saying "Kurapika, number 404, is the twentieth to pass. Killua, number 99, is the twenty-first to pass. Gon, number 405, is the twenty-second to pass. Ferev, number 62, is the twenty-third to pass. Time elapsed 71 hours and 59 minutes." the group of four then stood aside and soon Leorio came out of the Tunnel his briefcase in one-hand while he had both of his hands on his knees as he caught his breath. Tonpa was then seen jogging down the Tunnel with his limp his arms swinging back and forth. When Tonpa made it out of the tunnel Lippo's voice came out through the speaker again "Leorio, number 403, is the twenty-fourth to pass. Tonpa, number 16, is the twenty-fifth to pass. Time elapsed 71 hours and 59 minutes." As Lippo finished explaining the elapsed time showing that the group of six barely made it to the base with one minute to spare. Leorio held his hands out showing they were covered in cuts and blisters and spoke "My hands are wrecked but all six of us cleared the tower together, didn't we?" Leorio then started ruffling Gon's hair as he finished saying "And it's all thanks to Gon!" Gon just smiled enjoying the praise Ferev however, looked at Gon with praise and slight awe while thinking to himself "Even under pressure, you were able to calmly assess our options and think of a way to get around them. That Gon is one of the reasons you're so special. You also, just helped me confirm my decision to keep an eye on you and Killua for a little while longer." As Ferev and the others celebrated their passing the Third phase they all couldn't help but wonder what Phase four had in store for them however, just then a section of the wall rose up leading outside of Trick Tower and then soon all the applicants began heading out one by one.
