Scooby-Doo Meets the Undertale Monsters
ACT I: New Friends, New Mystery!
"Nuh-uh! No way! Like, not gonna happen! Like, noooooo way!"
"Reah! Ro ray!"
Velma, Daphne, and Fred stood next to the open back of the Mystery Machine. Across from them, standing with their arms/forelegs folded was Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, shaking their heads with determined looks on their faces.
"Come on, guys, there's nothing to worry about," Fred urged.
Shaggy let out a frightened, nervous laugh and said, "Ya hear that, Scoob? They want us to head to place infested with monsters, and they say it's nothing to worry about!"
Scooby whimpered in response and frantically shook his head.
"There isn't anything to worry about, you chickens," Velma said impatiently, "The monsters from the Underground don't mean us any harm."
"But they're REAL!" Shaggy exclaimed as he flailed his arms up high.
"Reah! REAL!" Scooby echoed.
"That's the point," Velma urged, "All these years we've been chased by people in monster costumes, solving their crimes, unmasking them, and sending them to jail. But now that there are REAL monsters out there, how can we be expected to solve any more mysteries?"
"Like, no more mysteries?" Shaggy remarked, then he chuckled gleefully and said, "I could live with that! Right Scoob?"
"Reah! Reeheeheeheehee!" Scooby laughed in agreement.
Clearly frustrated, Daphne huffed and said, "You guys, this is serious! Believe me, I'd like to not have to deal with all these crazy mysteries as much as you two, but let's face it: we can't escape it. No matter what we do, no matter where we go, we're gonna get dragged into a mystery one way or another!"
Velma nodded and said, "Which is why we need to head the Mount Ebott area and show the world that Mystery Inc. respect monster kind. If we don't, everytime we try to solve a mystery, we'll just get accused of being anti-Monster, and we'll never be able to solve it, and whatever monster of the week we end up facing will get away with their crimes."
Confused and unconvinced, Shaggy asked, "But what does that have to do with going to the Monster Capital of the World?"
Fred explained, "If we can make friends with the real Monsters from the Underground, then whenever our next mystery happens, everyone will be okay with us trying to catch whatever fake monster is up to no good, 'cause everyone will know that we're on the good Monsters' side, and are just trying to stop the fakes."
"How about this," Shaggy said as he pointed to his three friends, "You guys can be the Monsters' friends, and Scoob and I will just be their friends of a friend. Deal?"
"C'mon guys," Fred began, but was cut off by Velma.
"Let it go, Fred," she said, "If Shaggy and Scooby want to miss out on all that good food, that's their business."
"Huh/Ruh?" Shaggy and Scooby said in unison.
Velma took out her smartphone and began looking at some online articles she had bookmarked, "Well, there's the MTT-Brand Burger Emporium run by a robot Monster. . . there's been talk of a skeleton Monster skilled in cooking large amounts of spaghetti. . .Oh! And there's also one monster who's famous for baking award winning pies!"
Shaggy and Scooby's eyes were wide as they let their drooling tongues hang out. However, they suddenly snapped out of their hunger induced trance and turned to face each other.
"Alright Scoob. . . We gotta make a choice. . .It's either staying far, far, faaaar away from REAL Monsters. . . or food," Shaggy proposed.
Scooby blinked, and he rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "Hmmmmmmm. . . . ."
"Here we are, gang! Welcome to the town of New Home" Fred declared.
The Mystery Machine came a stop in a parking spot at the town's Visitor Center, and the gang all exited the vehicle, their attention immediately captured by the mountain towering above them.
"Zoinks. . .a mountain that big must have been able to hold a lot of Monsters," Shaggy remarked as he leaned back to take a good look at Mount Ebott.
"Reah! *Gulp!*" Scooby added.
Fred walked over to the cowardly pair, patting Shaggy on the back and scratching Scooby behind the ears. "Calm down, you two, everything's going to be just fine."
Velma turned towards the nearby building and said, "C'mon guys. Let's head into the Visitor's Center and see if we can arrange a few interviews with some of the Monster's in town."
"YO! WATCH OUT!" a youthful voice cried.
The gang turned to see a bright red, mid-sized ball flying towards them. Scooby jumped up into the air and expertly caught it in his mouth, sticking the landing and wagging his tail happily.
"YO! Nice catch!" the voice called out.
Everyone looked to see someone running towards them. It a short, yellow, reptilian Monster with no arms, a tail, and spikes on the back of their head. He wore a pair of brown pants, and a sleeveless shirt with yellow and brown stripes. He also wore a red bandana around his neck. He had a big smiling which showed his large, buck teeth, and his eyes were big and expressive with brown rings around them.
"ZOINKS!" Shaggy screamed as he spun around and ran comically ran in place, "Not even two minutes and here come the Monsters!"
Shaggy dashed right into the Mystery Machine and slammed the rear doors. However, and much to the surprise of the other three humans, Scooby ran right up to the Monsters and dropped the ball at his feet, smiling and panting eagerly as he sat in front of him.
Fred was amazed as he said, "Wow. . .Scooby isn't afraid of the Monster. I wonder why. . ."
"Two reasons," Velma said as she adjusted her glasses astutely, "One: it's only a little Monster. Two: no dog can resist a game of fetch."
Scooby's ears twitched and he stopped his panting too look around and say, "Rog? Rhere?"
The little Monster laughed and said, "Yo, you're a good boy, aren't ya! I'd pet you if I could, but, well. . ."
"Hey, MK!" another voice called out.
The group looked to see two more youngsters running over. One was a white anthropomorphic goat-like Monster that wore a green and yellow striped shirt and black pants. The other was a squinty eyed human girl with brown hair, a blue and purple striped shirt, blue shorts, and black shoes.
"Hey guys!" the reptilian Monster said happily, "This dog's a really good catch. Yo, I already kicked the ball, so why don't one of you throw the ball for him?"
Velma let out a gasp and pointed at the human girl. "Oh my gosh! You're Frisk! You've been all over the news! You're the one who fell into the Underground, befriended Monster-kind, broke the barrier trapping them, and played a pivotal role in integrating Monster-kind back into human society!"
Frisk smiled nervously and turned away bashfully.
The goat Monster smiled as well and said, "Yeah, Frisk is pretty cool. She's the best sister a guy could ask for."
A look of confusion crossed Daphne and Fred's faces.
"Sister?" Daphne questioned.
Velma turned to her friends and explained, "Frisk was adopted by the former Queen of the Monsters, Toriel Dreemur. Hmm. . .That means. . ." Velma turned to the goat Monster and said, "You must be Asriel Dreemur."
Asriel smiled and nodded. "Yup! That's me. Howdy!"
"So you're a Prince?" Daphne asked in genuine interest.
Asriel laughed and said, "Ah, no. My Mom gave up being a Queen long ago, so did my Dad not long ago. He said that now that Monsters are all free, there's no need for them to have their own rulers. Besides, I don't wanna be royalty. I wouldn't be happy telling everyone what to do and making hard decisions and stuff."
"Yo! What about me?" the armless Monster said impatiently.
Asriel turned to him and said, "Oh, sorry. This is me and Frisk's best friend, Monster Kid. Or MK for short."
At this point, something in Scooby's mind clicked into place, and his eyes went wide and his teeth began to chatter. "Ron. . .Ron. . .Ron. . . RONSTER!"
Scooby immediately ran to the back of the Mystery Machine and frantically knocked on the door. "Raggy! Relp!" he cried out desperately.
The door popped open, and Shaggy quickly grabbed Scooby and pulled him into the fan, quickly locking the doors up once again.
MK blinked in confusion and said, "Yo, what happened. Wha-what did I do?"
Fred walked over to the van and knocked on the doors himself, saying, "Come on, guys, you're embarrassing us. Now come on out!"
"Shaggy and Scooby aren't here! Please leave a message after the beep!"
"Reeeep!"
Velma took out a familiar box and said, "Would you come out for a Scooby Snack?"
There was no response from the van.
Velma sighed and said, "Ugh! Enough of this. Four Scooby Snacks! Just come out already!"
Scooby and Shaggy immediately popped out of the van, knocking Fred flat onto his back. The pair stood at attention as Velma tossed out four Scooby Snacks each to them, much to their delight.
During all this, Frisk took a few steps to the side and looked at the side of the van. "Wait. . .a dog named Scooby. . .a van called 'The Mystery Machine'. . .You're the famous Mystery Inc., aren't you?" she said slowly and calmly.
Fred stood back up, dusted himself off, and flashed a toothy smile and said, "That's us!"
Asriel and MK appeared mystified by this.
"Mystery Inc.?" Asriel said, "Who are they?"
Frisk explained, "They're mystery solvers who catch human criminals that dress up as Monsters."
MK's eyes widened, and he said, "Human's dress up as Monsters to do crime?! I didn't know that!" MK hung his head low and said, "Is that why Scooby ran away from me? But. . .but I'm not a criminal. . .a. . .and. . ."
Scooby took notice on how sad MK had become. Scooby took another glance at the red ball at MK's feet, then let out a regretful whimper before quickly running back up to the reptilian Monster. MK gasped as Scooby began affectionately licking his face, then laughed out loud as he said, "Hahahaha! Scooby, stop! Hahaha! That tickles! Okay, okay! Ahahahaha!"
Velma turned to Shaggy and said with a smug grin, "See, Shaggy. We told you there'd be nothing to worry about. These Monsters aren't scary."
"Maybe they're not, but that one sure is!" Shaggy shouted as he pointed to the top of the Visitor's Center.
Everyone looked up to a large armored figure standing atop the roof, glaring down at them from above.
Scooby stopped licking MK and stumbled backward in fright. "Rikes!" he said fearfully.
MK, however, just smiled and said, "Aw, don't worry. That's just Undyne. She's tough, and maybe a little mean, but she's not so bad."
SLAM!
The armored figure had leapt from the roof and landed right in front of Scooby and Monster Kid. Scooby jumped behind Monster Kid and covered his face, trembling in terror. MK's eyes were wide as the armored figure's own piercing red eyes glared down at him and Scooby. However, MK gulped audibly, planted his feet firmly, looked the figure right in the eyes and said, "Y... y... yo... Undyne...I don't know why you're scaring them. . .But. . . if... if y-you wanna hurt my new friend, Scooby... You're gonna have to get through me, first."
Scooby stopped trembling and uncovered his face, amazed by what he had heard. Then there was a tense moment of silence, a calm before the storm, and then the armored figure grabbed MK by his shirt and took off running.
"WHAT!? YO! LET ME GO! HELP!" MK shouted fearfully as he was flung over the armored figure's shoulder.
"What?!" Asriel shouted in disbelief.
"Undyne, no! Come back!" Frisk called out.
"Ronster Rid!" Scooby cried out, and he immediately took off after the armored figure.
"Scooby, no!" Shaggy shouted as he stood paralyzed with fright.
Frisk and Asriel followed Scooby in the pursuit of the armored foe. The foe had gotten quite a head start, making it hard for even Scooby to catch up with it.
"MK! Use your ice powers!" Asriel called out.
"Yo! Oh yeah!" MK shouted in realization, and he took a deep breath and blew down at the ground under his kidnapper's feet. A patch of ice appeared, and the figure growled angrily as it slipped on the ice and fell backwards, throwing Monster Kid up into the air.
"HELP!" MK shouted as he flipped in the air and fell down.
Scooby leapt forward just in time to catch the little monster on his back, safely breaking his fall.
"Ri, rotcha!" Scooby said as he smiled back at Monster Kid.
MK smiled in return and said, "Yo, thanks Scooby! You're not just a really good catch. You're an awesome catch!"
The rest of the Mystery Inc. gang caught up them.
"Is everyone alright?" Fred asked.
"Yep! Thanks to Scooby Doo!" MK said as he slid off of Scooby's back.
"Who on earth was that Undyne character?" Daphne asked.
Velma looked around the area, frowning when she couldn't spot the mysterious assailant, "And where did she go?"
Monster Kid explained, "Undyne used to be the Captain of the Royal Guard. . .she used to hate humans before she met Frisk, but I don't know why she'd act like that. Yo, she's not at all as mean as she used to be."
"That wasn't me!"
Everyone turned to see Undyne herself, wearing a black tank top and jeans, as well as a fierce scowl. Combined with her sharp protruding teeth and eyepatch, it was enough to make Shaggy fall down and faint.
Undyne raised her right eyebrow at the unconscious human and said, "Huh? What's eating him."
Velma stepped forward and said, "Don't be too hard on Shaggy, he's not used to being around monsters. Anyway, what was that about that not being you?"
Undyne ignored Velma and turned her attention to Frisk, Asriel, and Monster Kid. "I'm not surprised you haven't heard," she said, her tone and gaze extra serious, "It's not really your business anyway, but if that. . .thing is attacking you kids now. . .then I suppose now it is your business."
Asriel gulped nervously and said, "What do you mean?"
Undyne put a hand on her hip and said, "Three days ago, I went home to find that something broke into my house and ransacked it. Then, as I was looking for clues. . .my suit of armor sort of. . ." Undyne closed her eyes and shook her head in disbelief, "I can't believe I'm saying this. . .it came to life."
"HUH!?" Asriel, Frisk, and MK all said in unison.
"Ruh-oh!" Scooby said, clearly aware of where this was going.
Daphne nervously inquired, "Jeepers! You mean it's haunted?"
Undyne shrugged, "Huh. I guess you could say that."
Fred smiled eagerly and said, "Well gang, it looks like we've got another mystery on our hands."
As soon as Fred said this, Shaggy jumped right up and said, "WHAT! So not only are we in a town filled with monsters, but now we have solve a horrifyingly haunted mystery! No! NO! I can't take it anymore!" He then turned and ran off in a random direction.
"Shaggy! Come back!" Velma called out.
"I NEED FOOD! LOTS OF FOOD!" Shaggy shouted, sounding like a person at the edge of his sanity.
"Oh dear," Daphne said, then she turned to Scooby and said, "Scooby, you'd better go after Shaggy and make sure he doesn't get into any trouble."
"Rokay!" Scooby said with a nod.
Fred nodded, "Good plan. The rest of us will head over to Undyne's house to see if we can find any more clues."
"We'll help too," Asriel offered.
"Sure," Frisk said with a nod.
"Yo, I'm gonna stick with Scooby!" Monster Kid said happily, "I'll be that if Shaggy and I were friends, he'd stop being so afraid of monsters."
Undyne scoffed at that and said, "Get real, kid, the guy's hopeless. Wouldn't you much rather hang with me?"
"Nope!" Monster Kid answered quickly, still with his cute, giddy smile, "C'mon Scooby!"
Undyne watched in shock as MK and Scooby ran off in search of Shaggy. She stood still for about two seconds before snapping out of it and saying, "Hmph! Dweebs. C'mon guys, let's search for clues already."
Shaggy burst into an establishment and took a deep breath.
"Ahhh. . .smells like. . .burgers!" Shaggy said eagerly.
Shaggy sat down at the counter, and cat-like monster in a fast food uniform was about to speak when a large metal box with two mechanical arms and a grid of lights and dials on the front rolled over and nudged the employee out of the way.
"A-ha! A new human visitor! I shall take care of this personally! Greetings, human! And welcome to MTT-Brand Burger Emporium! My name is Mettaton! How may I assist you?" the robot said.
Shaggy stared wide eyes at the machine and said, "Wow. . .you must be that robot Monster Velma told me about."
"Ah yes, my fame and notoriety has grown amongst humankind! Splendid!" the robot said, sounding very much pleased as his lights flashed on and off, "Now, what would you like to eat?"
"Like, do you have any triple decker tofu burgers?" Shaggy asked hopefully.
"Indeed! Upon coming to the surface, I have expanded the MTT-Brand Burger Emporium's menu to accommodate all of the various tastes and lifestyle choices of human-kind!"
"I'll take, like, a dozen!"
"I see, I see. When will the rest of your party be arriving?"
Shaggy chuckled and said, "Oh, the rest of the gang is out chasing ghosts, so I'm just a party of one today."
Mettaton stood there for a moment, then he said, "You. . .did say you wanted a dozen, right?"
Shaggy nodded, "Yeah, like, I'm just in the mood for a light snack before lunch."
". . .O. . . .kay. . ." Mettaton remarked with uncertainty, "A dozen triple decker tofu burgers, coming up. . ."
In a matter of minutes, Mettaton returned with a platter piled high with the steaming hot burgers. He plopped the pile of food in front of an eager looking Shaggy and said, "Here we are. I'd imagine you'll be needed and extra large doggie ba-."
Mettaton was cut off when Shaggy dove into burgers, devouring them so fast that it looked like he was inhaling them. In less than two minutes, Shaggy had polished off the entire pile of burgers.
". . .Oh. . . my. . ." Mettaton said, his mechanical arms hanging limply at his sides.
Shaggy licked his fingers and said, "Mmm! Delicious! The Monsters in this town sure are lucky to have a place like this in their neighborhood!"
"YOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Shaggy turned to see Monster Kid and Scooby standing in front of the restaurant's front door.
"That was totally awesome the way you ate all that!" MK shouted, his tail wagging excitedly, "Yo, I gotta try doing that!"
Shaggy blinked at the little monster, then chuckled and said, "Well, like, what do you know! A Monster after our own hearts! Huh, Scoob?"
"Reah! Reeheeheeheeheee!" Scooby laughed before giving Monster Kid a quick lick.
Shaggy turned back to Mettaton and said, "Three more rounds of burgers, please!"
"As you wish, darling," Mettaton replied, "But first, if I may, I do believe I am familiar with this ghost your. . .'gang' is seeking."
As MK and Scooby took their seats at the counter, the young reptile nodded and said, "Yeah! Yo, it possessed Unydne's armor and tried to kidnap me!"
Shaggy became visibly nervous and said, "Y-yeah, and it's faaaaaaar away from here now!"
Mettaton's lights flashed mischievously, and he said, "Well now, I wouldn't say that. . ." He then pointed towards the front door, and the trio of customers turned to see the Haunted Armor pushed the doors wide open and striding right into the restaurant.
"ZOINKS!" Shaggy shouted in horror.
Shaggy and Scooby leaned over to hug each other, inadvertently catching Monster Kid in the middle of the hug, not that he minded it all that much in comparison to the approaching phantom.
"Mettaton, do something!" MK shouted.
"Not to worry!" Mettaton said, "I have just what you need!" He then reached down and fiddled with the knobs on his front. Mettaton's lights started to flash as a riffing guitar track began to play.

"Like, what are you doing!?" Shaggy asked in panic.
"My research on humans has discovered that they are quite receptive to music during chase scenes!" Mettaton said gleefully, "This is sure to bring MTT TONS of publicity! Smile for the cameras, darlings!"
As the Haunted Armor approached, Monster Kid gulped and said, "What are we gonna do, you guys?"
Shaggy and Scooby let go of MK, and Shaggy placed the little Monster on Scooby's back and said, "You hold on tight while we RUUUUUUUUN!"
Two blurs shot past the Haunted Armor, causing it to spin around a bit.
I'm everything you know
You wonder friend of foe
I'm the burning in your throat when you swallow
The Armor stopped spinning, steadied itself, and turned to the swinging double doors before charging out through them and after the trio.
But you spit me out
Your stomach full of doubt
Now you're faking every word out of your mouth
MK clung to the great dane's neck like a racehorse jockey as Scooby and Shaggy ran through the streets of New Home with the Armor in hot pursuit.
But you won't let go
It's all about control
Understand I'm born to lead, you will follow
The trio ducked in an alleyway, and the Haunted Armor followed in after them.
I don't want to stay
I'm running away
Don't you hear me when I say
The trio ran through a conveniently open door with the phantom right on their heels.
Goodbye, so long, nice try, I'm gone
You don't like being second
I don't like being wrong
Two more doors opened, and out ran Shaggy and Scooby, with the Armor chasing Scooby, and into two other doors.
I won't forget the way you made me feel
I won't regret running away from here
Monster Kid came out of another door, screaming as the Armor chased him.
So I'll say goodbye again
They ran into a door, then Shaggy came out another door with Monster Kind up on his shoulders.
So I'll say goodbye again
After going back in a door, the Armor charged out of a door with the trio running behind it. Everyone skidded to a halt, and the Armor spun around and roared at the three, causing them to all turn tail and run.
Now it's there to see
You've forgotten me
A pair of female Monsters, one an alligator and one a cat, were wheeling a cart full of wares taken from the Garbage Dump.
Ever since I was the prince among thieves
The two Monsters screamed and dived out of the way right before Shaggy, Scooby, and MK jumped onto their cart and rode away on it.
So you hold me down
Strip away my crown
Can't contain me knowing all the truth I found
Shaggy and Scooby flung random items at the pursuing Armor, which it either dodged or swatted them out of its way.
Always thinking small
Helping me to fall
Now you're jealousy and hate consumes us all
Monster Kid yelled and nudged Shaggy and Scooby, directing their attention forward. Everyone screamed when they realized they were straight towards a rabbit-like monster's Nice Cream cart.
I don't want to stay
I'm running away
Don't you hear me when i say
The Monster ran off right before the crash, which sent the trio flying through the air.
Goodbye, so long, nice try, I'm gone
You don't like being second
I don't like being wrong
Shaggy and Scooby licked a Nice Cream as they flew through the air. Scooby used his tail to hold one for MK to lick.
I won't forget the way you made me feel
I won't regret running away from here
The trio then landed into a group of garbage cans with a crash, and they all quickly grabbed the lids and hid inside the cans they landed in.
You think you see the world well you see nothing
Time is only gonna make it worse in the end
The Armor ran to the garbage and looked inside of one.
So I'll say goodbye again
It found nothing, only for Scooby to pop out of another one. The Armor swung its fist down at him, only for Scooby to duck back down in the nick of time. Then Shaggy popped up, and he avoided a swing from the Haunted Armor as well. The dog and human popped up and ducked down seemingly at random, much to the Armor's frustration.
Then, all of a sudden, Monster Kid popped up. His eyes widened in terror as the Armor moved to slam him down.
Don't hit me with you fears
I won't fit with your ideas
The Armor froze in mid swing, pausing momentarily to stare at Monster Kid.
You missed what I'm about
I earned my way out
The Armor unclenched its fist and move to grab at the child.
And in the end

Scooby and Shaggy then jumped out of the garbage can MK was in and carried him away from the Haunted Armor.

They all ran to a large brown brick school building and in through it's double doors, slamming them closed behind them.
"Yo! First time I've been happy to be in school on a Saturday!" Monster Kid said after he caught his breath.
"Like, we better think of something fast. Those doors aren't gonna hold up against that creep for long!" Shaggy said nervously.
Knock-knock-knock!
"ZOINKS! HERE HE COMES!" Shaggy shouted as he braced himself against the door. Scooby joined Shaggy in holding the door closed as well.
"HEY! MONSTER CHILD! IT IS I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS! ARE YOU ALRIGHT IN THERE WITH YOUR TWO NEW FRIENDS?! THEY ARE YOUR FRIENDS, I TRUST?" shouted a high pitched, nasally voice.
Monster Kid gained the biggest of smiles and said, "It's Papyrus! He's a friend! And he's really cool! Yo, you guys can let him in!"
Shaggy and Scooby let out sighs of relief.
"Whew! A friendly face. Like, what a nice change of pace, huh, Scoob?" Shaggy remarked.
"Reah," Scooby replied with a smile.
The pair opened the doors, revealing a very tall skeleton wearing a white breastplate, a short orange-red cape, and boots.
"NYEH HEH HEH!" the skeleton laughed.
Shaggy and Scooby stared up at Papyrus in silence, stunned looks on their faces. Then they both whimpered loudly before fainting and falling flat on their backs.
". . . DID I. . . BREAK THEM. . .?" Papyrus said awkwardly as MK just stared at the pair in confusion.
