"Miss! They're pushing me!" Remus cried out, squashed between James and Sirius, them pushing him against each other.
Ms. Lore shook her head, as she sent one of the four marauders to the Boggart.
The duo, James and Sirius, were quite the handful. If it weren't for Remus, they would've gotten themselves expelled.
On this certain day, the students were defending themselves against the Boggart. It rumbled in the wardrobe, causing a few students to back up.
Sirius confidently stepped forward, waiting for the doors to open.
Ms. Lore unlocked the latch, and the creature popped out.
As he straightened his robes, Sirius looked up at the monster.
His eyes widened, filled with shock as the Boggart transformed into his mum.
He backed up, clutching his wand tightly. James watched, his eyes darting between the Boggart and his friend.
The creature got larger as it approached Sirius, shouting about.
"Disgrace to our family name, choosing Gryffindor over Slytherin!" The replica of his mother yelled over the students. "Shame to the Blacks!"
James angrily gripped his wand, and pulled his friend back.
"Riddikulus!" James thrust his wand at the Boggart, and watched it shrink down. He continued to cast the spell, banishing it back into the wardrobe.
The room was silent for a minute, shocked at the normally brave Sirius Black, paralyzed in fear by his fake mother.
James looked at his friend in a motherly concern, but with a deadly glare in his eyes, threatening anyone who dared to bring it up.
Finally, Ms. Lore cleared her throat with a cough. "Erm, I think that's enough for today. Study page 153-156 in your books." She said firmly, and waved her wand, closing up any loose textbooks and sweeping up papers. Students groaned, grabbing their textbooks while running to their next classes.
"Sirius, what in the name of Merlin was that about?" Peter caught up with Sirius, out of breath from running.
Sirius had sped away from the corridor, rushing off to potions. As if he's drunk a spoon of Felix Felicis, his luck came through. For potions, Peter was the only one with him. James was off to muggle studies and Remus was in charms. He knew that they would ask him all about it later, but it's best to avoid it for as long as possible.
"It's nothing, really Peter." He tried to give a smile, but ended up with a weak grin.
"Nothing?" Peter asked with big eyes. "Your Boggart was your mum! Is she really that bad? You never let us come over, I don't even know her name!"
Sirius winced. "Eh, she's ok, I guess. But, just drop it. At least, until Prongs makes me talk about it."
The smaller boy nodded, and allowed Sirius to walk farther along, before following him into Slughorns classroom.
"Padfoot!" James burst into the common room, startling many first years.
Lily was behind him, apologizing for his behavior.
"James! You can't just call out for Sirius, Slughorns probably keeping him longer, you know he wants him in his house." Lily scolded.
"Actually," a younger boy said. "That Sirius guy stopped in here to put away his cauldron, and then left."
James immediately put his full attention on the first year. "Where is he now?" He asked, plotting all places he could be hiding.
"I don't know, why should I pay attention? It's just some other weird third year." The boy rolled his eyes, and went back to his work, tapping his quill thoughtfully.
The quidditch seeker tried his best not to strangle him, and took deep breaths as he turned back to Lily.
"Well, I know him well enough that he's gone somewhere he doesn't think I'll check." He said, pacing back and forth.
Lily added, "what if HE knows YOU well enough, so he'll know where you look. Then he hides somewhere you'd normally look if you didn't know him that well?"
James stared at her for a moment, easy to do, stop and stare at her green eyes. He shook his head, "Sirius wouldn't put this much thought in where to hide."
Remus ran through the portrait hole, dragging Peter along.
"Peter knows where Sirius is!" The former said, now grabbing James as well.
"Are you coming Evans? Or are you staying there?" Remus added, trying to get anyone and everyone in one trip.
Lily shook her head, not thinking they were close enough.
"Nonsense! You and Sirius started a book club, I read so in his journal! Come along!" James tugged her along, following Peter, to their dear friend.
Sirius sat by himself behind shelves filled with different books. He played with his wand, making several copies of "A History of Magic" float. His course books surrounded him, he made a little fort with them. Of course, he left a window, it was easy to snoop on people that way. So far, he'd seen Lucius Malfoy, a Slytherin prefect, snog Narcissa Black, Sirius' cousin. That one was gross.
Filch also had a habit of going through the library and check random books, as if expecting them to be rigged. Sirius scoffed. No one would do that, stealing food from the kitchen was where it was at.
"Padfoot! Come out, we know you're here!" Called out a worried Remus.
"Yeah, we know! Wormtail told us!" James said, before being hushed by a scared Peter.
"N-no! James is just your best friend and always knows where you are!" Peter gave a weak chuckle.
Oddly enough, Lily Evans was with them, looking around too. She noted the spine of one of the spelled books and reached a finger out to touch it. Sirius quickly cast his wand down, causing the flying books to drop down.
James must've had great ears, because he stuck his head between two books still on the shelves. "Sirius?"
"No, this is Filch." Sirius rolled his eyes. James grinned at the sight of his sarcastic friend.
"Well, Filch, if you see Sirius, tell him we won't ever hurt him and that we're here for him." James said, losing all joking manner.
"And tell him that we'll support him no matter what happens, and he can tell us anything!" Remus added.
Wormtail jumped up to be seen and said, "and we all love him!"
Lily slid into the chair next to him. "And that even if we're not friends, he can trust any of us, and we'd do anything for him."
Sirius' eyes watered up, and he gave a large smile. "I'll tell him when I see him."
The group laughed, and the remaining Marauders piled on top of him, squishing him in a large hug.
"Oh, how the tables have turned, Padfoot." Remus said, recalling him being turned into a human pancake by his friends.
Sirius snorted and pushed everyone off. James stumbled, but leaned against a shelf, running one hand through his hair.
"So, how about that date, Evans?" James asked casually.
Lily laughed, and replied, "nope. Never going to happen, Potter. Just not my type." She gave a quick wink, before running back to the common rooms.
"Hey! I am becoming her type, you'll see!" James promised to a laughing Sirius.
"Yeah, sure. Now, Wormtail, let's talk about you eating out my location." Sirius turned to a terrified Peter.
"Moony made me tell them!" Peter blamed, scurrying off to the dormitory's. Sirius chased after him, Remus quickly following to prevent any damage to his friend. James laughed, before running after them, but not before leaving a little note in Sirius' books.
With a heart as big and brave as yours, Gryffindor would've chosen you too.
I freaking love the Marauders, I feel like their friendship is the best thing ever. Of course there's the whole Pettigrew betraying them, but this is before that!
Also, sorry it's short, I was writing this on my phone around 12:00-1:00 in the morning.
Anyways, review please! The feedback means the world to me, and have a great day/night!
