TEASER SCENES (SCENE SET 2)
INT. IVEI'S APARTMENT - DAY - SCENE 2.1
START SCENE
Emily is paralyzed by shock. It all happens so fast. Hotch screams for the Paramedics, who come running in
Hotch, yelling: AGENT DOWN! I REPEAT, AGENT JAREAU HAS BEEN SHOT.
The paramedics rush in, and load JJ, covered in blood, onto a stretcher. It all goes by in a blur.

INT./EXT. HOTCH'S SUV - DAY - SCENE 2.2
START SCENE
The ride back to Quantico is silent. The team is painfully aware of the empty seat where JJ should be.
Hotch tries his best to focus on the road ahead, both physical and mental. Ivei just made the case personal. When cases got personal, he knew his team had a tendency to work themselves into a frenzy, blinded by tunnel vision and rage.
He needed to hold the team together. That was his job as Unit Chief.
Rossi felt sick. Truly sick. As the oldest member of the team, he felt like a surrogate father for most of the members.
Especially with all the horrors they saw in their cases, the cases that made them question humanity and the futility of it all, he felt a duty to give advice and look out for the team. Reid especially, but also Prentiss and JJ. Almost as worried as he was about JJ, he was more worried for the effect her being injured and possibly dead would have on Reid.
JJ and Reid were the two youngest members of the team, and some days it seemed they were attached at the hip.
Morgan was furious. Period. There was no other way to phrase it.
He was furious. JJ was shot. Someone from his team, his unit, his FAMILY was shot.
And he got away.
Emily felt numb. JJ was shot. The realization seeped through her mind, into her heart and flowed in her bloodstream.
Every bone in her body ached- and yet, she thought nothing. Nothing ran through her mind. All she knew was that JJ was shot, and the unsub got away.
She didn't have time for her feelings, so she did what Emily did best. Compartmentalizing.

FLASH BACK - INT. TOBIAS HANKLE'S HOME
JJ: How come none of this gets to you?
Prentiss: What do you mean?
JJ: You came off a desk job, now suddenly you're in the field, surrounded by mutilated bodies and you don't even flinch
Hotch: She's right. You've never blinked
Prentiss: I... guess... maybe [hesitates] I can compartmentalize better than most people
END FLASHBACK CONTINUE SCENE
Now, the memory stung like salt in a paper cut. Of course she wasn't flinching- because the desk job was a lie. Of course she could compartmentalize- you had to for CIA work.
But JJ didn't know that. How could she? Now, Emily might never get a chance to tell her.
The thought of JJ going to the grave knowing only lies about her- she couldn't even bare it. She was glad to feel numb.

INT./EXT. DEREK'S SUV - SCENE 2.3
START SCENE
Derek is sweating, terrified for JJ and the fact that Ivei is now on the run. Emily sits in the front seat and her nails have become the outlet for her anxiety.
Prentiss: Do you think she'll be ok?
Morgan: I have to. I can't do this job if I don't believe she's ok.
Prentiss: Did you see where she was hit? I saw blood, alot of blood, but she had a vest on- (pause) maybe it's not that bad- maybe it was just her arm. Oh G-d, what if it was her neck-
Morgan interrupts her
Morgan: Prentiss, Prentiss- you can't do this. You can't freak out. We need cool, speaks a hundred languages, went to Yale, BAU profiler Prentiss, not a mess of nerves. We need you to keep your head so we can find this bastard and put his head on stake.
Prentiss: Right, you're right. Ok so, where would a murderer for hire who's been caught go?
Morgan: Ha, there she is
Morgan looked over at his partner in (solving) crime and saw the wheels begin to turn in her brilliant mind.
