A/N: Officaly the strangest fanfiction I have ever read. This came to mind because I read somewhere someone had a theory Lorelai was pregnant at the end of season 6 and that is why she was so emotional and sometimes erratic with her feelings. I don't think it's true (let us not forgot how much alcohol she consumed at Lane's wedding) but I think it is an really interesting idea so I decided to take that idea and write this. I have heard of people not knowing they are pregnant before and considering she was such an wreck all them months its not suprised her body was to messed up to tell her, this one might not go down well but if you like I will carr it on, hope you enjoy. Takes place season 7 when Lorelai is married to Christopher and Luke has to be hero just because.

A Miracle From The Broken Year

Chapter One

The Perfect Suprise

Lorelai was sick. She had gotten a bad digging pain in her stomach and at first, she had simply taken painkillers as she thought it was the start of period pains. For a while, the pain got better and she relaxed but then it came back and felt worse.

"I wouldn't be a woman if you paid me" Christopher stated unhelpfully as they got into bed that night. Lorelai managed to fall asleep for a few hours or so then woke up in a cold sweat, the pain had was much worse, she forced herself out of bed clutching her stomach, struggling to breathe through the pain before heading downstairs, she realised she was out of medicine and put her coat on, making the normally short walk to the chemist to get more.

She walked for ten minutes breathing heavily and stopped realising this pain was not normal and something must be wrong and then realised she had left her mobile at home. She made her way to Luke's knowing that was where the nearest payphone was.

Luke was setting up for the day. He took the tables and chairs down of the table and glanced at the window when he heard a cry of pain. He saw Lorelai stagger towards the diner, obviously in pain before she held the wall breathing heavily. Luke rushed out seeing her clutching her stomach.

"Lorelai?" he said a little awkwardly after the breakup.

"I'm fine" Lorelai lied as she want

"Clearly" the man replied.

"Just call an ambulance" Lorelai replied just wanting to go to the hospital. Luke went to reply but then she fell and kneeled on the floor breathing heavy from the pain. He caught her then rushed her into the diner, sitting her in a chair before grabbing the phone.

"My friend is in pain, she's clutching her stomach," Luke said not wasting time.

"Scale of 1 to 10? Luke asked her as he listened to the operator and replayed the question.

"10, the only pain like it was when I had Rory" she breathed out wondering what on earth was going on to be so painful.

"Hello? Hello?" Luke said as the phone went dead and the lights went out as a power cut hit. Luke reached into his pocket grabbing his mobile but seeing there wasn't any signal.

"This is why I hate these stupid things!" he complained before he suddenly realised something.

"Lorelai...are you pregnant...you said it felt the same way it did when you had Rory" Luke commented realising what she had said.

"Do I flaming look pregnant to you?" she asked him. He looked at her and realised she looked the same as ever, she hadn't gained weight.

"No but...have you had symptoms?" he asked her wondering if she just hadn't gained much.

"No, I have not, I have been having periods, no sickness and eating like I always do" she replied not laughing at his jokes, she knew he was wrong it was impossible.

"Okay well, I will take you to the hospital, who knows when the power will come back on," he told her putting his arm around her and leading her with difficulty to the truck. He got in the driver's seat and took off without a moment to waste.

"You're wrong, I'm not pregnant" Lorelai replied as she half screamed through the pain.

"I just thought it was weird you said the pain was like when you had Rory" Luke replied as the drove.

"Maybe I have what April had," Lorelai said hopefully

"What appendicitis? Difference is April had the pain in her side, not her stomach" Luke replied as he realised the pain seemed to be getting worse as she kept half screaming in between breaths.

"Or maybe I have an infection," she said going on

"Bloody bad one by looks of it" Luke replied "I'm not a doctor wait until they have checked you over before jumping to conclusions," he said as he drove, glad it was so early as the roads were dead.

"Luke...pull over now!" she told him suddenly.

"What why?" he asked her wondering if she realised her ex taking her to the hospital was a bit inappropriate and she wanted Christopher to do it.

"NOW!" she shouted he pulled into the nearest sideroad stopping on the side of a dead-end street.

"I feel something coming out..." she said

"That's more information that I needed to know" Luke replied

"Luke," she said looking at him with scared eyes not joking anymore. "I think you were right...I think I am giving birth right now!" she said

"If this had been anyone else I would think this situation was weird with you...stranger things have happened" Luke went on

She grabbed a hold of his shirt and pulled him towards her, not finding his joking funny anymore.

"This isn't freaking funny, a human is trying to push their way out of me and it hurts like hell" she shouted angrily. He looked at her face and realised then she wasn't joking.

"Are you sure it's..." he asked not knowing what else it could be but not wanting to believe someone, his ex of all people was having a baby in his truck.

"Okay don't worry we aren't far from the hospital," he told her

"This isn't going to wait," she told him.

"Do you want me to look...I mean...I know we broke but...someone has to do it and you can't really do it...well maybe because you don't have a bump but" he rambled

"Oh I don't care right now what you see just freaking help me already" she replied. Honestly, she didn't care if he was her ex, she was in so much pain she would take Kirk right now if she had to.

"Okay okay hang on," he told her as he lifted her skirt and took her underwear off.

"Oh god..." he said

"What?" she asked him

"I see the head, I thought labour takes hours?" he stated

"I have had the pain a while it only just got worse" Lorelai admitted.

Luke didn't reply, he opened his door and got out, Lorelai freaked out as she was left alone.

"No Luke don't leave, come back please," she said not wanting to do this alone again. Luke stepped back into the truck, a bunch of blankets in his hand from the back of the truck.

"Don't leave, don't do that again" she breathed through her contractions.

"Sorry sorry I won't leave you again," he said grabbing her hand so she had something to squeeze. "Now push," he told her having no idea if he was meant to be doing something else but they were in the middle of nowhere, he had no choice to be the one to deliver it.

She pushed squeezed his hand and screamed then spoke "I hate you" she said for effort.

"How is this my fault?" he asked her

"Well Christopher isn't here for me to hate so I hate you instead," she told him as she panted.

"I know it's painful.." he started

"Oh really, Was it you that had April rip through your lower body?" she asked knowing he didn't know and it annoyed her he was pretending he did.

"No I don't mean I know personally but I know it must be painful but you are almost there," he told her as she pushed again and Luke smiled.

"The head is out, so close Lorelai, come on," he told her still unable to believe his ex was giving birth in his truck and he was the one having to deliver another man's baby but he didn't have much time to think about the situation.

"I can't do this anymore this pain is too much I need pain relief," she said wishing she had been at the hospital so she could get some.

"Yes you can, you are the strongest person I know," he told her as she squeezed his hand so hard as she pushed before talking.

"I don't have any baby stuff ready," she said worried about that

"Don't worry you can sort that, stars hollow residents will chip in when they know" Luke told her, as she breathed, having a break as the pain subsided for a few moments.

"Luke I drank alcohol and coffee because I didn't know and now they might have problems" Lorelai replied crying at the thought. Stupid Friday night dinners that came with drinks, stupid coffee from Al's.

"That will be sorted later okay? It's not your fault you can't change that now" he told her. "Come on Lorelai so close, one more push and it's over," he told her. As she pushed as hard as she could and Luke beamed as the baby was born, screaming their lungs out.

"He is your son most defiantly, it's a boy," Luke said wrapping the baby boy in the blanket.

" A boy? But I know nothing about raising boys" Lorelai cried with relief and happiness. Luke wrapped him very gently holding him carefully before handing him to his mother.

"Oh my goodness he's gorgeous," she said kissing his head "Hey baby where did you come from?" she asked having never had suspected this.

"He's got brown eyes," Luke said confused as Lorelai and Christopher had blue and Rory had the brightest blue eyes of anyone Luke had ever met.

"All babies do, they change as they get older" Lorelai explained. "Thank you," she said glad he had been delivered safely.

"I would say anytime, but frankly I never want to do that again" Luke replied as Lorelai kissed her newborn and hugged him.

"Little man you are going to be just fine with me I promise," she told him. Luke smiled and used the knife he took fishing to cut the cord and tied it off with some string he also had before turning to her.

"Well we best go to hospital to get you both checked out," he said stroking the babies cheek "we can take five more minutes," he said

"Here want a cuddle?" she said passing him to Luke. Luke took him smiling at him and the baby looked at him with wonder.

"Isn't he stunning?" Lorelai asked

"He's perfect" Luke replied falling in love with the baby even if he knew that was a dangerous road to take.
