ACT 4 - Scene Set 6

EXT. OUTSIDE THE BLACK SHAMROCK BAR - NIGHT - Scene 6.1

START SCENE

[from the last scene]

Fahey [unseen]: Lauren?

Emily's heart stopped- she knew that voice. Fahey. She didn't respond- hoping the team didn't hear and she could just ignore him and he'd think he'd seen the wrong person- her hair was different now, she was several years older.

She turned to face even more away from Fahey and pretended she was oblivious to the man approaching

Fahey: Lauren Reynolds?

Hotch eyed the man and saw he was speaking to Emily. He mouthed a question to her- "do you know this man?". Prentiss shook her head slightly.

Walk away, Fahey, she silently begged. Fahey's lip snarled. That was Lauren Reynolds, he was sure of it.

Sure, her hair was jet black and straight and he'd remembered it being curlier and lighter- but it was definitely her. How rude was it of her to ignore him- him who had introduced her to Ian. He hadn't seen either of them in several years.

Maybe they'd broken up? In fact, Ian had been hiding from the local business for a few years now. His people still came 'round now and then- but he hadn't been with them in years.

So what was Lauren doing here- and who were those people? He continued to head into the bar. As soon as Fahey was out of earshot, Hotch asked Prentiss a question.

Hotch: What was that about?

Prentiss: [hesitates] No idea.

Hotch was confused. Something felt off about Prentiss. She knew too much, had contacts in interpol she shouldn't have, was fudging details of her life, and now this.

What was going on?

Hotch: Alright- Prentiss, you ready to go in?

Emily was nervous- if Fahey was around- could some of Doyle's people be too? She knew Doyle was locked up, but he was still running things somehow. However, this was good for the case- Fahey might definitely know something about Ivei- but she'd have to talk to him. As Lauren.

She couldn't however tell the team to go talk to Fahey after she denied knowing him and basically declared him a crazy man. She would have to tell Hotch to change the plan

Prentiss: Hotch, if we rotate in and out- someone will know something's up. I'll handle it- no need for you and Rossi to come in

Hotch guessed this made sense so he agreed, but really it was just another thing that made Prentiss seem off. What the hell was going on with her?

Hotch: You sure?

Prentiss: Positive

Hotch: Alright. Head in.

Emily nodded and slipped off her jacket. Morgan looked at her confused

Prentiss: Don't want to look too official

Emily straightened out her grey turtleneck, and was suddenly thankful she'd chosen it- Lauren wore light colors- whites, beige, browns- a far cry from Emily's usual blacks, navys and the occasional red. She headed in.

INT. THE BLACK SHAMROCK - NIGHT - Scene 6.2

START SCENE

Emily pushed open the door, suddenly wishing she had a cigarette- it would make the Lauren Act more believable. She saw a woman- young, red hair, drinking a beer with two girlfriends, holding a pack- she wasn't business, just having fun. Emily leaned over and asked if she could bum a cigarette

Red Haired woman: Sure, hun- need a light?

Emily smiled and nodded. Soon, she found herself in a booth in the back- not the same one that she'd met Doyle in, but close enough to overwhelm her brain with floods of memories. Not just ones from the bar.

FLASHBACK - INT. IAN'S LIVING ROOM

Lauren bit her lip as she looked at Ian, her feet in his lap as they lounged on the couch in the living room of Doyle's luxurious Tuscan villa. Louise walked over and handed Ian two glasses of a deep red wine. As Louise walked off, Ian handed Lauren one of the ornate, crystal wine glasses.

Doyle, teasing her: Careful, don't spill

This made Lauren laugh

Lauren, smiling: I won't

She took a sip of the wine and looked back up at Ian, trying to figure out where his head was at

Lauren: What are you thinking?

Doyle smirked, which was basically the closest thing to smiling he'd done

Doyle: I'm thinking there's a beautiful woman sitting on my couch, and all I'm doing is looking at her

Lauren smiled, and took another sip of wine before placing the glass down on the side table, careful to place it on a coaster as Ian was peculiar about things like that.

Lauren: We could fix that

Doyle, leaning towards her: Could we?

Lauren, leaning in closer to him and smiling wide: Yeah yeah (said laughingly)

The scene ends on Doyle leaning in and presumably kissing her,and Lauren wrapping her arms around him.

FLASHBACK END

Fahey calling her snapped her out of her memories

Fahey: Lauren!

Prentiss: Hello, Fahey (coolly)

Fahey: What the hell was that out there- [gesturing to outside]

Prentiss didn't want to give him anything

Prentiss: I was busy

Fahey: With who?

Prentiss, no Lauren- scoffed

Lauren/Prentiss: It's not important

Fahey: So, what are you doing back around here? Haven't seen you in years. Or your boyfriend.

Lauren/Prentiss: I've been busy

Fahey: Yeah, you said. Where's Doyle been? Busy, too?

Lauren/Prentiss: Yeah sure. Listen, have you heard anything about a guy called Ivei?

Fahey: Why?

Lauren/Prentiss: I'm curious

Fahey: You and Doyle break up? Looking for your next hookup?

Lauren/Prentiss chuckled

Fahey: You like them all fugitive and wanted?

Lauren/Prentiss: This is about business, Jack

Fahey: Said that last time.

Lauren/Prentiss: I'm serious

Fahey: All I know is he's got a warehouse a few blocks south of here- take a left and you'll find it. He was here earlier, then went straight there

Fahey wasn't sure why he gave up this information so willingly. There was just something about her, about Lauren, that made him and all the men like him just forget that they ran with a, hell the most, dangerous crowd in town and nobody should be trusted.

Lauren/Prentiss: Why? What's in the warehouse?

Fahey: Tell me what business you're trying to set up and maybe I can help

Lauren/Prentiss: I can't say

Fahey smirked

Fahey: You can't say or Doyle told you not to say?

Prentiss decided letting Fahey think Doyle was involved helped her, so she allowed him to continue thinking this by shrugging her shoulders. She then gave him a pointed look, silently saying "Tell me or you won't like what I tell Ian about your loyalties"

Fahey: Guns, Passports, cash probably

Lauren: So he's leaving the country?

She began to stand up, ready to run and tell her team to send SWAT to all private airfields in a 100 mile radius and stop Ivei from getting on a plane

Fahey: Probably. What's the rush, Lauren? That desperate to get away from me?

Lauren snorted

Lauren/Prentiss: I've got a deal to close. Thanks, Fahey- do me a favor and keep my visit here on the down-low, would ya?

Fahey nodded, and she left. Prentiss sighed. Even behind bars in Russia, Doyle's influence spread wide and far- but Fahey not once questioned the fact that Lauren Reynolds had supposedly died in a car crash.

Doyle's men either didn't know or decided to keep it quiet. The latter was more probable- not good for business to say that Bossman was incapacitated in any way, in jail OR mourning his dead girlfriend. As she exited the bar, her hands went to her neck to grasp a necklace she no longer wore.

'The realization washed over her, and suddenly Lauren was Emily once again.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE BLACK SHAMROCK BAR - NIGHT - Scene 6.3

START SCENE

Hotch, Rossi, Reid, and Morgan waited (not so) patiently outside of the bar, Rossi's nose constantly wrinkled up at the smell. It just reeked of lowlifes.

Hotch: There she is

Emily jogged over.

Prentiss: We need SWAT at all airfields in the area-he's leaving the country

Hotch: How do you know?

Prentiss: I found out we just missed him by a few hours- he stopped by, then went straight to a warehouse where he has everything he needs to disappear

Morgan: Should we stop by said warehouse first?

Reid: There's no time- if he's leaving the country- he could already be gone

Hotch nodded firmly. He opened his phone.

Hotch: Garcia- we need you to send SWAT units to every airfield.

Morgan: Which one do we go to?

Hotch was conflicted- there were several airfields close enough that Ivei could be there. Since their only information was suspiciously coming solely from Prentiss and she didn't seem to know the specific airfield, they were out of luck`

Hotch: We'll split up- we'll go to the closest two

Rossi: That's a pretty big gamble, Hotch

Hotch: It's the best we have

Reid: Wait, I remember that one of the files from interpol had a list of possible aliases for Ivei. Garcia- cross reference that list of names with any plane rentals or airfield reservation in the area

Garcia: Oh smart smart boy- ok- One! ALLEN ERIC DRIVE

Reid, nodding: It's him - that's almost an anagram for Derrick Daniel Ivei

Garcia: Address sent to your phones, SWAT's meeting you there!

Hotch nodded and the team dived back into the two unmarked cars they'd arrived in

EXT. SHEDOWINGTON AIRFIELD - NIGHT- Scene 6.4

START SCENE

The SWAT team had already arrived, surrounding the perimeter of the airfield. When the BAU arrived, the leader of the SWAT unit came over.

SWAT member: How you wanna play this, Agent?

Hotch: As far as we know, there's no hostages so we're going to take him in hot-but this man is an international pro. Who knows what kind of firepower he's got up there-

SWAT member: So what you mean by that is: If we try and blow this POS up, he'll take us out with him

Hotch: Exactly. Plus this guy is wanted by the entire intelligence community- it's preferable if we take him alive

SWAT: I'm not putting my guys at risk for a political patsy

Hotch: Of course not. Let's get this show on the road.

Prentiss jogged over.

Hotch: Prentiss?

Prentiss: Let me get on the plane. I think I can talk him down. But I need you all to leave the immediate vicinity. I can lure him out.

She knew this was risky. She was banking on the fact that Hotch wouldn't ask too many questions and that Ivei had enough faith in Doyle (and didn't know Lauren Reynolds was dead). Oh, and the fact that Ivei never actually saw her face when he shot JJ, too focused on running away

Hotch: Prentiss, I can't do that. Why would you-

Prentiss: Trust me on this.

SWAT member: Are you serious?

Prentiss: Hotch, please

Hotch contemplated this. It was incredibly dangerous. But, throughout this case, Prentiss was fixing everything.

He knew something was up, but still he trusted her. Maybe it was partly blind trust and optimism and maybe it was partly that he was so enraged about JJ being shot that he wasn't thinking straight, but he agreed.

Hotch: Go. But wear a vest and bring your gun

Prentiss: It's already under.

Emily waited for SWAT to retreat before making her way to the plane. She took a deep breath. She was Lauren Reynolds, international terrorist, and she'd heard through the grapevine that an associate of Ian's was being chased by the Feds.

She was here to help, maybe make a deal. She wasn't Emily Prentiss, FBI agent, here to make sure this man never saw the light of day. She was nearing the plane

INT. IVEI'S JET - NIGHT- Scene 6.5

START SCENE

Ivei and two of his men, Mark Vasilyev and Isaak Kozlov sat in the cabin of a small jet- the pilot was late, which left them sitting ducks. Ivei was getting increasingly nervous that the Feds would catch up to them before this stupid pilot got his act together. He was snapped out of his thoughts by Vasilyev, a short, brutish man with hamlike features and the brain of an ant.

(Mark) Vasilyev: Boss, we've got company

Ivei: What?

Vasilyev: Female, approaching

Ivei was confused, what woman was trying to get at his plane?

Ivei: I don't have time for this

(Isaak) Kozlov: Hold on, I recognize the broad

Ivei: Who the hell is it?

Kozlov: It's Doyle's girl- Lauren or something

Ivei was taken aback. Ian Doyle? He'd done a few contract hits for Doyle back in the day but not many.

Doyle was an in house type of guy and he certainly had the manpower for it. He'd never met his girlfriend, but he remembered Doyle had been boasting about the female gunrunner's -assets- and it was unclear whether he was referring to her business capital or something a bit more intimate.

The Doyle group had quieted down the past few years, and no one had seen the man himself in years. Ivei knew the Valhalla moniker was associated with him, but only rumors confirmed that Doyle and Valhalla were one and the same. Why would his girlfriend be coming to his plane, minutes before he was due to flee the country?

How did she even know where he was? Something wasn't right, but he let his curiosity get the best of him.

Ivei: What the hell- haven't from Doyle in almost a decade. Let's see what this is about

END SCENE

INT./EXT. THE ENTRYWAY OF IVEI'S PLANE- Scene 6.6

START SCENE

He gestured for the plane to open the door, but grabbed a pistol laying around in case. When the door opened, he understood what Doyle's been bragging about. Lauren was incredibly beautiful.

Ivei: Hello?

Lauren: Mr. Ivei? I'm Lauren Reynolds,-

Ivei interrupted her.

Ivei: Ian Doyle

Lauren nodded. The mention of his name and looking at the interior of his plane thrust her into yet another memory

FLASHBACK - IAN'S JET

Lauren: I didn't know you had a plane

Ian: A plane? Love, I have several

Several planes? Emily made note of this- Doyle had more resources than they'd originally profiled, but Lauren was dazzled. Ian noticed her wide-eyed look and smiled, placing his hand at the small of her back, leading her further in the plane.

Ian: Come on, love- we have places to go

Lauren settled into a plush leather seat and slipped her heels off, tucking her feet under herself. She looked at Ian, who was busying himself with some papers related to the business. Emily wanted to get a good look at the files, but Lauren just wanted to admire her lover. Ian could feel her eyes on him, so he looked up. They made eye contact just for a moment, before Ian went back to reading.

END FLASHBACK

Lauren: Listen, I was in the area and I got wind that you've got Feds on your tail- something about a senator?

Ivei: Yeah, something about. Why are you here?

Lauren: I'm here to help. They've probably or will probably figure out this is your plane, I mean-

He interrupted her

Ivei: Why would you help me?

Lauren: Think of it as good will. Ian and I help you out-

He interrupted her again- this confirmed for Emily, the profiler, that he, like many men in the international crime business, had little respect for women. It's why she brought up Ian again. Lauren Reynold's modest reputation in this business wouldn't get her far, not nearly as much as Ian's.

Ivei: I help you out

She nodded

Lauren: If you're interested- We've got a jet a few minutes away in East Lansport. If we book it, we can be out of the country before the damn Feds even realize you and Ian have ever met, nonetheless done business.

Ivei contemplated this. Doyle was a big deal- a deal with him could net a nice profit.

Ivei: I'll take you up on the offer. Deal's a deal, no?

Lauren: Deal's a deal

Ivei grabbed a metal briefcase type thing and gripped his pistol.

Ivei: Let's hitch a ride, boys

EXT. THE AIRFIELD - NIGHT - Scene 6.7

START SCENE

Vasilyev and Kozlov stood after their boss, and the three men followed Lauren down the stairs. Lauren sighed with relief. It had worked- she just needed to get it over the finish line.

Her idea was she'd get the men into the SUV, where Hotch and Morgan were waiting and have cuffs on them before Ivei realized what was happening. She only hoped it would work. She continued to walk, thankful for the cover the darkness of the late night provided.

Ivei: So, Doyle's been quiet for sometime now

Lauren didn't turn around

Lauren: He's a very busy man.

Ivei: I see.

They continued on like this for a while. Short questions and vague answers. In the distance, her espionage trained eyes spotted the slight glint of a Bureau SUV. Hotch and Morgan were ready.

Lauren: It's just the car up here

Ivei, nodding: You're driving?

Lauren: Are you doubting my ability to drive?

Ivei: Women aren't usually the getaway driver

They approached the side of the car. Lauren walked around, opening the driver's side door. She had to look as casual as possible.

The moment Ivei opened his door, Hotch and Morgan popped up from the floor of the vehicle, guns drawn at point blank range. Ivei's eyes widened, realizing what had happened. He spun around, hoping his men behind him hadn't fallen into the trap as he had.

They had. Rossi, along with several members of the SWAT team had run up behind the three men, guns out and cuffed Vasilyev and Kozlov and pushing them to ground before Ivei noticed so that they couldn't scream and tip of Ivei.

Ivei was trapped.

Hotch: It's over, Ivei

He threw his hands up slowly in defeat, and Rossi grabbed his hands, yanking them into cuffs with little care for how he manhandled him

Ivei, shouting at Emily: YOU TRAITOROUS BITCH!

As they threw him into the armored vehicle, with more guns trained on him than necessary, Lauren receded into the little locked box Emily kept her in.
