The apartment filled with an aroma of grilling garlic in one large pot on the front burner. Another pot sat empty on the back burner, waiting to get filled with water for the pasta. Jamie brought flowers on his way home for the middle of his kitchen counter behind two wine glasses for the white bottle he also bought.

Jamie glanced the clock hanging over his fridge every few minutes until a soft knock tapped against the door. He took deep breaths with each step across the room until he reached the apartment door and opened it. "Hey thanks for coming," He greeted Eddie.

She walked into the apartment smiling on her way past, stopping to look around. "This is a really cute place."

"Thanks. I just have to put the pasta up so sit and make yourself at home. Would you like a glass of wine while we wait," Jamie asked. He went into the kitchen, checking on his baking garlic bread in the oven then put the pasta up to cook.

"Sure I'd love one thanks. What can I do," Eddie slipped her jacket off and onto the back of one of his kitchen chairs. He took her in, how her hair flowed down free over the white dress that fell just past her knees. In front the dress cut just above her chest area allowing Jamie to see a little bit.

He shook his head and turned before she caught him staring, "You're my guest. You can sit down and relax. The pasta won't take long." He set the flame higher to help the water boil faster.

"It smells really good. Did your mom teach you how to cook," Eddie took a seat on one of the kitchen chairs close enough to watch him bustle around getting dinner ready. He looked so handsome in the button down blue dress shirt and blue jeans that fit tightly against his waist. She knew where he was looking but it didn't bother her unlike when any other guy looked at her.

Jamie poured her a glass of the chilled wine then one for himself. "I have another in the fridge if you want more. No, actually my grandpa and father taught me. Mom cooked too when she was alive but my grandpa showed me and my brothers how to cook a good meal when we got older. To new friends," He raised his glass against hers in toast.

Eddie raised her own glass up to sip while she watched him. "That's really nice. It smells really good."

They made small talk until the pasta boiled ready for Jamie to take down. He drained the water through a colander, making her dish first. Eddie crossed her left leg over the right waiting until he sat to start eating. "Wow this is really good. You're grandpa is a good teacher."

"Yeah he is," Jamie chuckled. He cut her a piece of garlic bread, one for himself and started to eat.

When they finished Eddie insisted on helping him clean up and wasn't taking no for answer. As a team they tackled the pots and pans, leaving their dishes in the drainboard to air dry. Still full from dinner they settled on the couch with fresh glasses of wine.

They finished both bottles of wine while they continued getting to know each other on the living room couch. Jamie turned on a movie for them to watch until he sobered enough to drive her home. The movie was a romantic comedy but neither of them were paying very close attention to it. His fingers slowly caressed the soft skin of her shoulder and took in the vanilla conditioner she used.

Eddie's head lifted at a slight angle until her head met his, "This was fun. Thanks for having me. Just one question, would you consider this an official date? I mean we only met two days ago but I'd call it a date."

"I would too." Her forwardness at asking him questions or making statement made Jamie smile, finding it attractive. He hoped she would consider this their first date which was part of why he wanted to drive her home.

She set her glass down on the table and went right back into hiss waiting arms, looking up at him. "So does this mean that I get a good night kiss?"

He moved his hand up to underneath her chin, tilting it up as he leaned in closer whispering, "If you want me too I will. I would never do anything to make you feel uncomfortable so don't be afraid to tell me." His warm breath against her lips made Eddie shiver.

"I do," she whispered in a voice that was barely audible. She tilted her head until their lips meet slowly exploring for now. Her lips were just as soft as their mouths moved open and shut against each other. At some point she felt his tongue shifting to get in on the action so Eddie stuck hers into his mouth.

As they kissed his hands pulled Eddie a little bit closer to his body for better access. She let her hands roam through his short hair excitedly pressing closer to him. Their lips fought for dominance while their hands continued moving along each other's body.

Eddie's phone vibrated against the table with an incoming text that interrupted the mood. She checked who the text was from sighing. "Sorry, my dad wanted to know if I would be home for dinner. He just got home from work and didn't know I already told the cook I wouldn't be home."

"No problem," Jamie admired her as she put the phone back down.

Eddie placed her arm on his chest smiling, "It's only seven thirty. Do you have work tomorrow morning? I don't want to keep you up late if you have to wake early. You have to be alert."

"No I have off tomorrow so whatever time you want to want to go I'll drive you," Jamie replied softly.

She pressed herself against him for a second round of making out smiling. He wrapped his fingers around pieces of her hair as their tongues did a little dance until the movie ended. Eddie moved back watching him, "So when can we see each other?"

"I'm off tomorrow if your free and I have nothing on Sunday after eight. My family is Catholic and go to church Sunday morning then have dinner together," Jamie slipped his hand around her slim waist already looking forward to seeing her.

"I'm free tomorrow. Sunday I have a stupid party with my parents for the country club but should end by the time you're done," Eddie replied.

Jamie ducked his head for the time on his wrist-watch, "It's getting late. I should take you home. Want to meet on the beach tomorrow around nine? We can do whatever you want," he gently caressed her cheek.

"Yeah that sounds good," Eddie agreed. She went to retrieve her jacket from off the kitchen chair then joined Jamie, heading down to his car.

"Will your parents be waiting up for you," Jamie gave a sideways look at her while keeping his eyes on the road. The main roads were well lit with street lamps showing people out and about despite the hour. He turned down a side street he takes when going to the beach until the country club appeared.

Eddie's shoulders slumped watching her house come into view. "Thanks for giving me a lift home. You can stop here actually I can walk the rest."

"Okay," Jamie pulled his car to the side where he put it in neutral to face her. "Had a good time tonight? I can't wait to see you tomorrow. I'll text you when I get home okay?" Against the restraint of his belt Jamie leaned over, kissing her one last time.

"Thanks Jamie. I had a good time too. Tomorrow nice and early," Eddie smiled, kissing him again not wanting the night to end. Unfortunately she didn't want her parents to get suspicious so Eddie got out, walking towards the house. Jamie waited until he saw her get in safe before starting back home.

The whole drive home he couldn't get Eddie off his mind. When he settled back in the apartment Jamie sent Eddie a text he was safe.

I'm glad Jamie. See you tomorrow! Eddie wrote back followed by a kissy emoji at the end. Smiling at her message he went into the bedroom, changing into shorts then got into his cold, empty bed alone.

Each day Jamie woke up looking forward to seeing or speaking with Eddie if he had long tours and they couldn't meet. On her end Eddie enjoyed any time she got with Jamie in between studying for classes. He would keep her company and help quiz her.

Her father's business was doing well so if she needed money Armin would gladly give it to her but she wanted her own money and her own way. Country club life wasn't what Eddie wanted for the rest of her life.
