For the next two days Jamie didn't hear a word from his father after their conversation at the house. Danny and Erin called to offer congratulations and while Erin was shocked she didn't come out with the negativity her father did. As he predicted Danny called to congratulate his little brother with teasing. Still nowhere near what his father said.

On Wednesday before tour Jamie took Eddie out for breakfast then to the doctor appointment. They held hands in the waiting room until a nurse called to take them back. An older woman with kids and grandkids nurse Violet took Eddie's vitals though her eyes kept moving back to Jamie. "Handsome young man. Looks like a good one too but you seem awfully young," Violet smiled at the young girl.

"He is great and takes really good care of me," Eddie smiled at Jamie, waiting by her side. "We're only six years apart actually. I just turned twenty."

Violet made a tisking noise while writing down Eddie's temperature down on the chart. "Just twenty years old and having a baby already. Just barely a year in college, well I will let the doctor know you are ready to be seen. " She hung the chart on her way out, closing the door with a soft thud.

Eddie rolled her eyes through the closed door at the last comment, "Screw her. She doesn't know anything about us. " She linked their fingers together a little tighter and lay her head on Jamie's shoulder while they waited.

Doctor Brian greeted the smile ten minutes later with a fatherly type smile as he came in. "Well Edit, it's great to see you. How are things? Your parents are well I hope?"

"They are thank you. They actually don't know I'm here so if you can not mention it I'd appreciate it. This is my boyfriend Jamie Reagan. Doctor Brian has been friends with my parents and our doctor since I was little. "

The two men shook firm hands. "Reagan? You're the son of Frank correct? I've also known your father for many years but it's good to meet you. So what brings you two down here?"

Eddie suddenly feeling short of breath turned to Jamie for strength. "We've been seeing each other for months and for the past two weeks I've gotten sick, missed my period and felt exhausted. I took a home test and it said I'm pregnant so we wanted to confirm." Jamie held her hand in silent support.

"I'm going to have an ultra sound test done to be sure. One of our technicians will check then you'll be brought down so we can go over the findings," Doctor Brian smiled but as he left the room shook his head. Because of doctor patient confidentiality he couldn't tell Armin or Lena that their daughter was here with the commissioner's son who possibly got her pregnant. Still the news sat on his mind. The commissioner's son got some girl pregnant who he wasn't married to.

One of the lab technicians came in to bring Eddie with Jamie upstairs for the ultrasound. The room was a larger room, painted white with one bed in the middle and machines along the wall. She had Eddie lay on the bed then with a gloved hand spread jelly over her stomach. "I know it's cold," the technician smiled.

Jamie put an arm around Eddie's shoulders both watching intently as the screen showed inside Eddie's belly under the wand. "Okay, let's see what we have…hmm yes right there. It's hard to see but that circle on the bottom left is your baby. I'm going to assume it's around two and a half months. "

"Jamie? Jamie, that's our baby," Eddie turned her head slowly, giving him a rounded eyed look that matched his.

He opened his mouth to respond or acknowledge her but the words croaked in his throat. Instead he pulled her into a little tighter hug then kissed her cheek twice. She sniffled, turning back to the screen just for another look.

"I printed this out for you and also have one for the doctor to put in your file. When you're ready I'll take you downstairs to speak with the doctor," the tech handed Eddie a picture copy of the screen to keep.

When they were brought back down Dr Brian came back in smiling behind the closed door. "So congratulations are in order. Eddie you are still very young so I would like to see you for checkups every months but of course any questions or concerns please call. Try and stay relaxed Eddie, not to much stress."

The meeting ended with handshakes and pleasantries exchanged. Jamie wanted to take Eddie out for lunch but she felt tired so he drove home instead. She changed into shorts, climbing into bed holding the picture when Jamie found her. He climbed in bed, resting their heads together and cuddled. "I'm going to start looking for apartments. What time do you get off tonight?"

"Midnight so you'll be sleeping when I come in," Jamie reached around her waist, slipping his hand underneath her shirt. Her stomach felt warm as he rubbed slowly and gently. "I'll text you in between jobs too. Hopefully it isn't to busy."

They lay in bed with the picture between until five when Jamie left for work. While the house was quiet Eddie tried studying for her final but her wandering mind didn't allow it so she pushed the books away and opted to search for apartments. One was more expensive then the next but in a deeper search she found a few good ones.

Every now and then she checked her phone for a message from Jamie only to find her wallpaper. Just around nine after coming back from getting sick in the bathroom Eddie flipped open her phone. Sorry babe, really busy night. Will try and call if I can. Love you.

Sighing Eddie quickly typed back Be careful Jamie. I love you too.

Setting the phone down she turned on his television to look through channels before finally settling on the news. Each news story were repeats from the five o clock news which was good. No new developing stories.

Hard as she tried to stay awake Eddie fell into a very light sleep not having Jamie beside her. They had grown accustomed to sleeping in each other's arms the past couple of months so now it was hard to sleep without him. In her sleep she saw Jamie standing beside her both smiling somewhere in the city. Red and blue lights flashed behind them against a black background.

When Eddie looked up Jamie's mouth turned into a wide o as he was whisked away into darkness. She yelled his name, calling for him but he was gone. When she tried going after him something held her back.

Eddie awoke gasping for air, finding Jamie sitting up in bed beside her. He turned the television off just settling down when he felt her stir. "Eddie? Babe, what is it? What's wrong?"

"I had a bad dream. We were both there and something took you away. I tried to go after you, called you but it held me back. I don't know what it was but it took you away," Eddie gasped through the explanation. She moved into his open arms still shaking, "I can't loose you Jamie. I just can't."

He lay so they both laid together while slowly rubbing her arms and back. "Shh hey it's okay. I'm right here Eddie. I promise you that I'm not going anywhere. I love you Eddie," he rocked her in his arms slowly like a child. Seeing her so upset broke his heart and worried him about the stress it put on her and the baby.

"I know and I'm right here," he whispered directly in her ear. "I will always do my best to come home to you and our baby. You both are the most important part of my life now." Jamie kissed her head, tightening his arms around her so she'd feel safe.

Jamie sighed warm air into her ear as he rocked and reassured her. "Babe, try not to watch the news before bed, especially on days I work late. Reporters get paid to only show bad news okay? " He knew it wasn't just the news but a combination of fear from the news reports. She was twenty years old, pregnant without a college degree and her family disowned her. He was literally the only person she had right now so if something happened to him.

In his arms Eddie had fallen back asleep though still holding onto him tightly. They had barely known each other a year yet they fell in love and are starting a family together. All he knew was he loved being around her and when they weren't together he thought of her. While a ring doesn't make a family Jamie wanted to show her he would always be with her.

Tomorrow before tour he would put in papers to have Eddie on his insurance for doctor bills and compensation should he get killed in the line of duty. Her breath felt warm against his chest as Eddie slept more comfortable this time.

Smiling since she settled Jamie flicked the light off, turned back to cradle again in his arms and watch her by the moonlight coming in. Underneath her eyes were puffy, she hadn't cried but gotten worked up about the nightmare. Thank God he'd gotten home in time to be there. If he'd had to stay late and she woke alone.

He shook the thought out of his head. Although he'd like to stay in Bay Ridge logistically, moving into Manhattan would make more sense. Not only would he be closer to work but closer to Eddie without a bridge in between them.

All the thoughts swam through Jamie's head, Eddie, the baby, moving, his family, work even after he managed to fall asleep. Everything was happening so quickly.
