A/N. so a little housekeeping.

re numbers of chapters, i am really not sure. oddly i have written much less of this story than ever before when i started publishing. Also I have written in a totally random order. so first and third day are mostly written, fourth about half and second not at all. its not a long story, being only four days, but there is lots of potential to fluff out the story. likely a short novel. 30-40 thousand words maybe.

also publishing schedule will be much less frequent than my usual super quick. I will aim for two a week but not making any promises.

I am still having scene inspiration and loving writing the different aspects of this story. Not all characters will naturally appear but I have got as many of my favs in as I could.

as before. I wont do spoilers unless I'm PM'd, but i'm happy to clarify historical references. there may be one or two incidences of me taking artistic licence with history.

As always, you guys are great, loving the reviews and suppositions!, ;). Lol to the guestwho wants C to be shark food!

Enjoy day 1 of titanic life!

...

April 10th, 1912. 11:55 am. 4 days 1 hours and 45 minutes until the Titanic hits the iceberg.

...

The view from the first class promenade was extraordinary. Elizabeth managed to get herself and Jane a position on the starboard side of the ship that overlooked the dock. They had no one to wave to, their family either on board or too far away to come and wave them off. That did not stop them waving along with everybody else.

Elizabeth loved watching all the calls and waves from the decks. She leaned over and saw the first class covered promenade below was similarly packed with people. Further back was another full promenade, second class she thought. Towards the bow on the boat deck was the bridge and a door to another promenade. She stepped that way just as the ship started to move, to a great cheer. She saw it was in fact the officers promenade but there were steps down and she dragged Jane down to find a forward facing walkway.

She sighed in happiness as she looked out over the bow of the magnificent vessel taking her family to America. Below her she could see two open areas, one many stories below and then further forward still and up some stairs to the very prow of the boat. These areas were filled with third class passengers. Many waving and shouting farewells, many just stood watching the ship move forward out of Southampton's dock.

She realised her cabin was likely below where she was stood but when she leaned over she could only see the B-deck walkway.

"So, sister dearest." She turned to Jane "what do you wish to do aboard the Titanic!"

"Oh Lizzie!" Her sister nudged her shoulder with her own. "Why do you ask?"

"Well, I have plenty I wish to do!"

"I have no doubt. I only wish to meet new people, maybe make some friends to visit in America. Is that too much to ask?"

Elizabeth smiled softly. "No Jane, that is not too much to ask." She turned and looked over the ship again. "Maybe a handsome, single, rich young man?"

Jane only rolled her eyes.

"Do you deny your wish?"

"If we should happen to make friends with such a person, I would not be the one to say no!"

"No indeed. Who would say no to such a friendship!" Lizzie laughed.

Jane laughed with her, taking in the general merriment. They stood there for a few minutes, pointing out people they knew, or people that were worth watching. The old lady with four children and many more grandchildren clustered together. The couple gazing in to each other's eyes. The young man sat sketching a father and child.

"Come Lizzie. Shall we look around?"

"Oh yes! Jane, lets!"

They moved down to the B deck walkway and found an entrance to some first floor corridors. They walked the length and came out at the grand staircase, where they had originally entered the ship.

Just at that moment Mr Bingley walked out from the opposite doors.

"No Caroline," he was saying in a tired voice. "There are only two private promenades and we cannot have the other one."

"I do not understand, Charles. Mr Darcy's suite is just divine."

"Caroline, our rooms are perfectly respectable state rooms I assure you."

Elizabeth had known he was American but his accent was a mixture of refined British and American that it sounded rather unique. Elizabeth noticed her sister staring at the man and she nudged her before she was caught.

"But they are on D-floor!" The woman called Caroline almost wailed.

Charles sighed "D-Deck, as are many state rooms, Caroline. And they are all very well proportioned. Only two rooms have private promenades and they are taken. Unless you wish to ask Darcy to swap?"

Elizabeth and Jane smiled at each other and moved towards the staircase.

Unfortunately, so did Caroline, pushing past them as she swept angrily down the stairs. Her skirts billowing around her resembling the agitated condition of her emotions. Jane stumbled slightly as Caroline brushed past her and a moment later Mr Bingley was by her side, scowling after his sister.

"I am so sorry Miss." He had grabbed her arm to steady her, although her stumble was only slight.

Jane blushed "Bennet."

Mr Bingley just stared at her "huh?"

"Miss Bennet." She supplied "or Jane, if you prefer?"

"Miss Bennet, delightful. I heard this was a ship of dreams but I did not expect angels!"

Jane blushed again and smiled.

"We were just going to look around Mr Uh..." Elizabeth felt she had to interject or they might just spend the next two hours staring.

"Oh," he startled, as if only just noticing her there "Mr Bingley. A pleasure to meet you both."

"This is my sister Lizzie" Jane supplied.

"Yes, Yes, a pleasure" Bingley repeated.

"Jane." Elizabeth turned "I feel I should check on Kitty and Lydia. Why don't I meet you on the promenade?"

"Oh, Yes, Lizzie and I were going to take a turn."

"Maybe I could accompany you?" He offered his arm and they walked away without a backward glance, Elizabeth smiling happily after them.

...

Elizabeth turned to the stairs, but at that moment Kitty and Lydia both rushed up, giggling madly. They spared her a glance and a wave shouting "we are off to see the officers." Before they hurried upwards.

Lizzie bit her lip, nothing much changed there then, then she looked around.

B deck.

The stairway was very grand, there were elevators hidden behind them. She decided to peek at the famous Parisian restaurant and so made her way through the baized doors towards the stern of the ship. The corridor stretched in front of her with doors only on the left, rooms overlooking the sea. These doors were spaced quite far apart she noted. These must be the rooms that came with the private promenade deck. She knew there were two and she assumed this was Darcy's, considering these were the doors that Bingley had come out of.

She heard a commotion and then the first door opened, she caught sight of a grandly furnished sitting room before a steward came hurrying out.

"Apologies sir" he bowed towards the room and shut the door, sighing. He then straightened and nodded at Elizabeth before hurrying on his way.

As she walked past the door she thought she heard sounds of a woman in distress, but she could not be certain. A male voice murmured a response and she hurried on before she was caught eavesdropping.

She past many very grandly spaced rooms and she idly wondered if the snobby Caroline would have been happier in these than on her deck, even if they did not come with a promenade. There were frequent spaced cross walkways with inside cabins and she saw a few maids and Valets going in and out of these. How grand to be able to put your personal maid or valet in a first class cabin.

They had one maid travelling with them, whom they were sharing with her aunt and uncle and two children, but she would join in Cherbourg. They were on their own for now, they were due to dock in a few hours and Jenny would be unlikely to aid them that evening. She was to help with the children in the mornings, aid in dressing for the afternoons and then back to the children once they were all at dinner. Her accommodation was with the children in second class.

Mr and Mrs Gardiner did not share Mrs Bennet's opinion about needing to travel first class and were more than content to travel in second. She hoped to visit them frequently once they had joined and was meaning to ask one of the officers about the restrictions between the classes.

After passing what felt like hardly any rooms, for such a long section of deck, she came out in to the aft grand staircase. Very similar in design, at this level anyway, to the fore staircase. Around the space was seating and there was a door in front of her, which led to the a-la-carte restaurant. To her left, the famous Cafe Parisian, looking out over the starboard side of the ship. She had a quick look, admiring the trellises which sported real ivy, before she was startled by some waiters moving about and she hurried away.

She wished to allow her sister some time with her new friend. She explored as much as she dared. First and second class cabins were all slotted in on various decks. To get to some required moving along or up and down. Not all decks were connected between the fore and aft main staircases. There were other staircases besides the main grand stairs, but she decided to explore them another day. Figuring it had been long enough, she turned and made her way to the 1st class promenade, eager to see if this handsome and friendly young man might be a friend already?

It seemed Jane's desire, for this trip, was already being fulfilled.
