So updates are going to be once a week. I'm feel a little off? I dunno but classes start up soon and I kinda wanna focus of that. I'm glad people like what I write though! Next update is August 23rd.

3rd Person P.O.V.

5:30am. Five-thirty am. At 5:30am, Class 1-A is outside in their gym uniforms for training. And it really doesn't agree with some of them. Specifically the people who stayed up until 2am playing Uno. Aizawa smirks at their misery.

"Good morning everyone," Aizawa greets, "Today we begin training camp to increase your strength in earnest. The goal of this training camp is to increase everyone's strength and with that, for everyone to obtain their provisional licenses. It is to prepare you all to face hostilities that are becoming more real by the minute. Prepare your hearts and minds. With that said, Bakugou, try throwing this," Aizawa tosses a ball to Bakugou.

Bakugou looks at the object, "This is from the fitness test…"

"Your previous record, from right after you started school, was 705.2 meters. Let's see how much you've improved."

Bakugou walks to an empty spot and warms up his arm.

"Oh! We're checking our progress?" Ashido exclaims.

"Since a lot has happened in these past three months, huh?" Sero grins, "Maybe he can throw it a kilometer or something now! Do it, Bakugou!"

"Then," Bakugou growls, "Here I go…" Bakugou leans his arm back, "Go to hell!"

The ball rockets into the sky with an explosion.

Go to hell…

"709.6 meters," Aizawa reads, surprising everyone.

"Huh? It's less than I thought."

"It's been about three months since you started high school," Aizawa says, "Though various experiences, you all have definitely improved. But that improvement has mainly been at the mental and technical levels, with some increase in stamina. As you can see, your Quirks themselves have not improved that much."

Yuudai rocks on his feet, for him most of the three months were in the hospital and studying. A few times, sure, he'd gotten to fight but other than that he was lagging behind in the hero area.

"That's why we will work on improving your Quirks starting today," Aizawa breaks into a 'eat-shit' grin, "It'll be so hard you'll feel like dying, but try not to actually die."

"You want me to what?" Yuudai echoes.

Aizawa hands Yuudai a dictionary and sets down a stack of random books next to him. Pixie-Bob waves and leaves a loose pile of rocks a few meters away from Yuudai.

"Your experience using your Quirk is basically zero. In terms of strength around your Quirk, compared to others, you're dead last."

Yuudai looks at the books, "I know that."

"However, other than your voice, your Quirk doesn't rely on how strong your body is. It relies on how strong your mind is," Aizawa points at the books, "The strength of the action relies on how well you can imagine something in your head. Therefore, you'll be reading all of these for inspiration."

Yuudai sputters, "I'm what?"

Aizawa sends one of his glares towards Yuudai, it's more intense since it's timed perfectly to one of Bakugou's explosions.

Yuudai backs down after that.

"Have fun."

Yuudai sticks his tongue out at Aizawa after he turns his back.

"Reading dumb books and using my imagination. It's not like I'm five," Yuudai huffs and opens the dictionary and the first book in the pile.

English. The first book is in English. Not Yuudai's worst subject but it's still English. Luckily, Aizawa had the foresight to provide a Japanese to English dictionary. Great.

"This is just more studying," Yuudai mutters under his breath.

The book cover is a blue face with the title in red: The Great Gatsby. Yuudai flips the book open to the first chapter and sighs.

"Aizawa-sensei," Midoriya runs towards his teacher, "Have you seen Kojiko-kun?"

Aizawa thinks about it, "He was with everyone else, training his Quirk."

Midoriya looks around, most people have started heading back already. It's nearing dinner time and everyone is exhausted.

"I had him read some books to build his creativity and imagery," Aizawa explains.

Midoriya makes a fist and pats it into his palm, "That makes sense, then. Kojiko-kun likes to move around while he reads and studies. I'll go find him!"

Aizawa calls after Midoriya but he can't hear him, already running into the forest.

"Kojiko-kun!" Midoriya calls, "Kojiko-kun! Are you here!?"

There's a few birds that reply. Some rustling that's too light to be Yuudai. Strange. Midoriya keeps walking until he nearly slips down a sudden hill. Once he regains his balance he sees Yuudai, sitting against a tree, a book sitting open in his lap. Midoriya sighs with relief and runs to him.

"Kojiko-kun," Midoriya waves at him.

Yuudai lifts his head and looks at Midoriya.

Midoriya waits for him to say something but Yuudai just stands up and dusts himself off. Which is okay, sometimes Yuudai doesn't feel like talking. Sure normally it's only when there are big crowds and he always talks when it's one-on-one but maybe this is just something new. Maybe…

Midoriya pushes past it either way, "It's dinner time so everyone's heading back to the dorms."

Yuudai nods and starts walking towards the dorms. It feels too quiet when they walk. Midoriya starts thinking about why Yuudai might not want to talk. Was it something with training? Was it something with the camp? Was it something he did personally? Maybe it was the game of Uno from last night… No matter how much Midoriya thought about it, Yuudai's sudden distance seemed...well, sudden.

Midoriya steals small glances at Yuudai. He looks the same as he always does. Messy hair and a dirt covered uniform. His eyes are a little dull though, normally they shine a bit. Maybe he was just deep in thought.

"Midoriya, Kojiko!" Kaminari waves at them, "You're late! We have to make our own dinner!"

Midoriya waves back and sighs, "Really?"

Kaminari nods, "Yeah, Iida-kun decided everyone should make curry."

"Not bad," Midoriya comments.

"Hey, Kojiko, you wanna help me chop vegetables?" Kaminari points over his shoulder at the cutting boards.

Yuudai stares, eyes carefully looking over Kaminari before replying, "Sure."

Midoriya releases a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding.

"Cool," Kaminari grabs Yuudai's arm and drags him over with 'see ya later' to Midoriya.

It only talks less than an hour for the rice and curry to be ready. Yuudai has regained what seems like his normal attitude towards everyone. Cold towards some people and comfortable to others. Still, Midoriya can't shake that Yuudai has changed somehow. There really isn't any proof of it and it really is just a hunch feeling. Just the way his eyes seem a little duller, how he doesn't really speak unless spoken to, his soft responses even to the people he's comfortable around. And Midoriya's not the only one who notices these changes.

"Does anything seem off about Kojiko?" Kirishima asks as soon as Yuudai leaves the lounge area.

"You noticed it too?"

Kirishima shrugs, "It's not that hard to tell."

"What the hell's wrong with Berry Hair?" Bakugou growls, slamming down a card.

Uno, thankfully Aizawa gave back the deck under the condition they don't play after 10pm. And the only free time the people with remedial lessons have is a few minutes after the scheduled bath time. So they're making the most of it.

"I don't really know what to call it," Kirishima sighs, "it just doesn't feel right."

"He hasn't really spoken to anyone," Kaminari picks up a few cards, "Also, he seems really distant."

Midoriya rubs his chin, "I guess you could call it that."

"Did something happen during training today?" Todoroki asks.

Midoriya hums, "Well, he wandered into the forest a bit but there shouldn't be anything dangerous around here."

"Maybe we should ask Aizawa-sensei?"

"I could try asking after remedial classes," Kaminari volunteers.

Kirishima snaps his fingers with realization, "He didn't say my name for the whole day!"

"What?"

"Why the hell do you care about someone saying your name?"

Kirishima huffs, "Other than a certain someone," a look straight at Bakugou, "never using my name, I actually like to know when someone's talking to me."

Bakugou slams the rest of his cards down, "I use your fuckin' name, Shitty Hair!"

Kirishima sighs.

Kaminari looks at the clock and stands up, "I better get going. You guys better clean up my cards! And don't blow them up! I want a full deck when I get back."

Kaminari waves and runs down the hall, an angry Bakugou shouting after him.

"But what's up with Kojiko?"

Midoriya scratches his head, "I really can't say. It's just a feeling."

Asui places down a card, "Did he do anything strange, ribbit?"

Midoriya shakes his head, "It's more like what he's not doing."

"Ribbit?"

Kirishima nods in agreement, "I mean we've only known him for a little while but he's pretty simple to understand."

"I think that's just you, Kirishima," Sero says.

Kirishima sighs, "It's just strange."

"That's what we're asking," Ojiro waves his tail, "What's so strange about him?"

"Well, for one he's not talking as much," Midoriya points out.

"Couldn't that just be because Class B is here?" Yaoyorozu argues.

"And he hasn't said any of our names," Kirishima adds on.

Jiro shrugs, "It's not like he knows all of us."

"But he knows Midoriya and he hasn't even said his name."

"Uno."

"You bastard."

Sero waves around his one card, "But still, if you really think it's that strange why not ask him yourself?"

Midoriya pauses, "I'm not sure."

"I can stay up and wait for him to come back from class if you want," Kirishima volunteers.

"Guys, just leave him alone," Jiro twirls her earjacks, "if something's bugging him I'm sure he'll tell Aizawa-sensei, at least."

"Don't you also have remedial classes?" Ojiro looks at Kirishima.

Kirishima drops his cards and bolts off with a quick, "You're right!"

"If he doesn't say anything tonight you just can ask him directly tomorrow," Tokoyami sends a look to Midoriya.

"Why me?" Midoriya points at himself.

"Because he trusts you more than the rest of us," Tokoyami states obviously.

"Oh."

"Uno."

"Two Unos!?"

"Tokoyami-kun, how could you?"

Midoriya doesn't fall asleep easily. He's still worrying about Yuudai, for whatever reason his instincts say. It feels strange for him to be so worried yet so wary of his friend. Eventually, Midoriya falls asleep thinking of all the worst ways this could end.

The next morning comes and Midoriya watches Yuudai throughout breakfast. He's the same as he always is and that feeling is still there. Midoriya doesn't know why, it's the same Yuudai like always. He doesn't like getting up early and doesn't like it when people sit too close to him without him knowing and he doesn't drink all his soup like he always does. During training he paces while he reads like he always does. Everything is normal. Just that Midoriya can't help but feel like it's not.

"So did you get a chance to talk to Aizawa-sensei?" Kirishima asks Kaminari.

Kaminari shakes his head, "I couldn't, Kojiko was there the entire time and by the time he left, Aizawa-sensei told me to head to bed."

Kirishima sighs, "I know something's up with him. He didn't even laugh at my Aizawa-sensei sketch!"

"Up with who?" Yuudai asks.

"Ah!" Kaminari almost drops his knife, "I-I, um, I was just saying that lately Aizawa-sensei might not be getting enough sleep! Because we keep him awake with remedial classes."

Yuudai smiles, it doesn't seem to reach his eyes, "Right? I'm a little worried about him, too."

Dinner ends without bringing up the topic of Yuudai's strangeness again. The 'remedial bunch' as Aizawa called them, have more classes and also find out that they'll be absent for the test of courage tomorrow. Yuudai seems to care less than Midoriya thought he would.
