Uhhhhh so hi I'm back lol. I got stuck on writing Toga's character so that kinda put this chapter on pause but it should be fine now even if I don't get her character correct. Let's just say once a week updates.
The next morning I wake up to a blinding beam of sunlight in my eye. Absolutely blinding, like Present Mic's favorite shade of yellow. I sit up, my back aches from sleeping on a box.
"Oh you're awake!"
My sight is blurry so all I see is a blob of yellow and beige jumping towards me.
Toga grins at me, "Now that you're awake we can get going."
I rub my eyes, when my vision clears I can see that there's no one else in the room.
"Everyone went on ahead," Toga puts a finger over her lips then giggles, "It's a secret where they went."
I point at myself.
"Oh, you're tagging along with me," she smiles, "We thought it'd be better for you to be supervised. We don't want you running straight to the police before we can get away now, do we?"
I shake my head and she helps me to my feet.
"If you forgot my name, I'm Toga!" She grins, brushing dust off my shoulder, "We'll be stuck together for the next few weeks."
Few weeks?
"I've been told not to tell you all our plans but you're sticking with me until we can return you. I might even be able to get some information out of you before then!"
My hands raise instinctively, Toga frowns in reply.
"Come on, I was just joking," she laughs, "I'm not actually going to do anything."
Her smile tells me otherwise but I lower my hands anyways. Toga bounces over and hugs my arm, tugging me towards the door.
"I was thinking we should get something to eat first!"
Eat? I tilt my head, I thought all of you were wanted now? Is it safe for you to be going out right now? I mean if it's been a few days...no, I shouldn't even be concerned about you. I should get back to U.A.…
When we step outside the abandoned building I don't recognize a single thing around me. Of course, the abandoned building is surrounded by more abandoned buildings. In the distance are taller, more city-like buildings but I can't tell what city it might be. I start to focus on what I can hear. Weeds, rocks, far away footsteps…
My concentration is interrupted by Toga throwing a sweater at my face. I grab at it and look at her with confusion.
"There's people looking for you too, silly," Toga slips on an oversized hoodie of her own, "Though it might not be for the same reasons as the rest of us."
I just wanna go home…
Toga notices my annoyance, "Come on, it's not that bad. You're just stuck with me for a couple of weeks. And if you're worried about training I'm always up for a fight!"
She continues to talk. Mostly about random things like fighting, knives, a cute movie she watched a week ago, blood. I wasn't really paying attention but I managed to squeak in a 'that's cool' at one point which sent Toga into a spiral of excitement that I talked to her.
I still don't recognize anything when we get to a place with more people and open stores. Toga reaches up and tugs the hood over my face once we enter a restaurant. She gives me this look that basically says to not say a word to anyone before returning to her regular smile.
"Hi, how can we help you today?" The lady greets us as soon as we walk in the door. Her hair looks like it's on fire, but it's just how bright the color is.
I glance at her name tag. It reads "Nishida Akasa."
Toga greets her with a similar smile, "It's just us two."
"Great, follow me please," Nishida leads us to a seat in the corner of the room, next to a window.
The restaurant is only filled with a few people, there's a funny looking rooster clock on the wall that tells me it's 3pm. We must have just missed lunch rush time. Once we're seated Nishida leaves and Toga changes to her regular smile.
"How exactly are we going to pay for this?" I ask in a whisper.
Toga shrugs, "Our funds aren't exactly secure at the moment. We'll just have to figure something out."
"You mean dine and dash?"
"That's a brilliant idea!" Toga exclaims, "You're really smart!"
I duck my head back into my menu, it wasn't my intention to include stealing food from a small family restaurant to today.
After a few minutes Nishida returns, takes our orders, and then leaves through a door that I assume goes to the kitchen. Toga sips on water and looks out the window, her eyes flick back and forth between people. I look away from her as I feel something tug on my sleeve.
A child.
He looks about 9 or 10 years old and has the same fiery hair as Nishida. He smiles at me so I give him a small smile back. I glance at Toga, she hasn't noticed him yet.
He waves at me to lean towards him.
"I like your uniform," he whispers quietly.
I smile and nod in thanks.
He points at me then at Toga, "I recognize you two from the news. I think she's a villain so I'm being really sneaky right now."
My heart skips a beat, Toga's not listening so I manage to force a whispered reply.
"Do you think you could do me a favor?"
He nods enthusiastically.
"After her and I leave, I need you to call someone," I look to him for any sort of hint that he knows where I'm going with this.
He nods more, eyes lighting up, "I'll be your hero! I've seen this on tv, I'll call the police and save you!"
"Tayo!" Nishida exclaims while passing by, "Don't bother the customers."
She smiles at me, "Sorry about my little brother, he likes to talk a lot."
Toga turns her attention to the kid, "It's no problem."
I nod at her.
Nishida hurries Tayo back into the kitchen. He throws me a thumbs up right before the door closes behind them.
I hope to hell that kid gets this right.
"So what'd you two talk about?" Toga asks as she goes back to people watching.
I stare at the table, "Just some hero stuff."
"Really?" Toga's voice has a hint of pressure in it.
"Yeah," I meet her eyes, "Just some action figures."
Toga hums and sets down her glass. I wait for her to say we're leaving or something similar but she doesn't. Out of the corner of my eye I see Tayo poke his head out the kitchen door and flash me a smile. He holds up a phone and then is dragged back into the kitchen by someone I can only assume to be one of his parents.
"It's the 18th, if you're wondering," Toga says casually.
"What?"
Toga glances at me, "The day, from the way you were looking around the room I assumed you were looking for a date or a clock."
I blink, go with it idiot!
"Yeah," I force myself to nod, "Thanks."
Toga grins in response, "It's also 2pm! You slept for a really long time."
"Yeah," I murmur, "I guess I did."
3rd Person P.O.V.
Yuudai glances back at the window as they leave. Toga decided it was best for them to sneak out the window of the bathroom because neither of them had any money to pay for the food. He'd tried to give Tayo some sort of wave to show that they were leaving so he'd call someone but Yuudai was 70% certain that the kid hadn't seen it.
Toga continues to lead the way to whatever destination the League of Villains planned. Yuudai tries to listen closer to the city around him but still can't recognize where the hell they are.
"So…" Yuudai squeaks out, "Where are we going...exactly?"
Toga smiles at me and skips next to me, "I can't tell you everything, but we're going on a supply run."
Yuudai tilts his head but doesn't say anything else. Toga leads the way to a main street then they walk for what Yuudai feels like is hours. Yuudai eventually just starts mindlessly following her, thinking about U.A. instead of paying attention to his surroundings.
He only snaps out of his thoughts as Toga halts his walking by elbowing him in the ribs. Toga grins and pulls him in a different direction, barely fast enough to have Yuudai miss the Shiketsu High School sign. They walk around a few corners, the perimeter of the high school until Toga finds an area pretty covered by trees and not many people.
Yuudai opens his mouth to ask a question but Toga shushes him and hoists herself above the wall.
"I-"
She shushes him again.
Yuudai frowns and steps onto the brick planter holding all the trees to look over the wall. He doesn't recognize anyone but he can tell it's a school's gym field. A few of the students are using their Quirks so Yuudai spit balls and guesses that it's a hero school.
"You can keep watch," Toga whispers, "We don't want to get caught."
"Caught?" Yuudai echoes.
Toga rolls her eyes, "Silly, this is obviously not legal."
Yuudai bites his tongue and nods, "Keep watch...okay."
He could do that.
