The Snuggle

(M/M from TCOT Half-Wakened Wife. Perry and Paul are discussing the case while Perry shaves. As they prepare to leave, Perry sees Della sound asleep on the couch. He stops and places his coat over her. She doesn't wake but pulls the coat closer to snuggle into its warmth.)

As Perry grabbed his coat to follow Paul, his gaze fell on his beautiful secretary, quite soundly asleep on the office couch. He thought if she could sleep through his conversation with Paul, she must really need the rest. Rather than disturb her, he took his coat, gently covering her. He pushed the coat collar down, resisting the urge to caress her cheek. She looked so peaceful, so very lovely. He wondered if he kissed her lips...

"Coming Perry?" Paul's insistent voice broke his reverie. With a deep sigh he turned and closed the door behind him.

Della hadn't meant to fall asleep. She sat on the couch listening to the drone of the two men. Maybe I'll just stretch out for a minute. She folded her jacket to use as a pillow, brought her legs up and lay down. She was trying to listen to what Perry was saying, but his deep voice was almost a lullaby to her.

She felt the warmth even though her tired mind refused to let her eyes open to see. Then the scent reached her, the unmistakable mixture of cologne and masculinity that was Perry. The feel of fabric somehow registered as clothing. She snuggled deeper wishing it were his strong arms. She turned, slowly opening her eyes. The voices had stopped and the office was empty. She then saw that she was covered with Perry's overcoat. She realized that she had fallen asleep and Perry, being a true gentleman, had covered her before he and Paul had gone one their way. She sat up and slipped her arms in the large sleeves, wrapping her arms around herself. She rubbed her cheek against the still warm cloth, inhaling deeply. Well, if I can't have the real thing, this will do for now. Lying back down, a small smile crossed her face. I might as well wait for him, but at least I know I'll have sweet dreams. With a sigh she closed her eyes to wait for the man who owned the coat she was securely wrapped in.
