Jodie Starling breathed out a sigh of relief as she hung up. She was beginning to become angry at all the distractions around her. She only wanted to tell Shinichi what he was getting into, but she hadn't found a good time. Sulking back into the room, a smile was soon slapped again on her face, "Finally! We can get this show on the road!" she said, slightly exasperated.

Shinichi took in the apparent frustration of his kidnapper with satisfaction. He was feeling quite alone in his fretting recently. With a straight face and an underlying smile, he spoke, "Permission to speak Mrs. Uptight?" He reveled in the strained smile that followed.

Jodie had forgotten how annoying teen detectives could be under the right circumstances. But! This was a plus. He seemed to be more comfortable in his surroundings, "Why yes, please ask questions," she said quickly, "But let me speak first?" She gathered herself and sighed. This would be a long explanation.

"Kudo Shinichi. You have been selected for an extremely secretive program. While it has no name, it's influence is monumental. Normally I would mention the news, but with the cases that seem to gravitate towards you, I don't need to," she paused to chuckle, "It seems that the amount of criminals is never-ending already; however, based on recent studies, these numbers would increase tremendously without this program. We…erase… about 50% of the dangerous criminals within our jurisdictions. You, like all other recruits, will be assigned to a singular city or organization to defend/eliminate. In your special case, I pulled a few strings to have you assigned to the Black Organization alongside our best 'non-involved' agents. You see, this amalgamation and the FBI are two separate entities. One operates on the legal spectrum while the other takes care of anything outside of their capabilities, such as assassination and warrant-less searches. You, my dear detective, will work in the assassination ward. It's not far removed from espionage, so you will train in both. Any questions?"

Shinichi soaked in the information provided. Now that he was sure of this organization's depth and strength, he had all but given up on escaping. He hated to say that he understood, but the situation was terrifyingly simple. Nothing was difficult to understand in the slightest. He could ask the obvious questions…Why me? Are you the boss? Who am I training under?...but they would be answered soon enough either way. Besides, he a pretty good idea of why he was chosen. He couldn't disobey, he had people to protect.

His friends, family, and Ran. Though now, he only saw her as a sister. To explain that line of thinking is simple. He had been Edogawa Conan for so long at this point, and his former infatuation with Ran had gone away almost completely. It was an unfortunate thing, but it wasn't unexpected. You are changed through your surroundings. Being treated as a brother for so long would impact even the strongest will. It wasn't as if he had the time for romance anyway. Maybe he just hadn't found the right person? He briefly wondered if Hattori had already decided something was wrong with his vacation, but he hoped he hadn't. He felt a pang of sadness while thinking of him.

"No questions?" The 'Boss' interrupted his thoughts, "If not, we can get straight into training!" She said this with a type of giddiness that was not atypical of her, but the detective did wonder at times how she did it. Jodie stood abruptly and pointed at a closet that Shinichi hadn't noticed, "Your clothes are in there. It is currently noon and raining heavily. We will not go outside. I expect you in the training gym dressed out and stretched at 1330. Understood?"

The teen reeled at the sudden change in demeanor, but he inwardly smiled. Refreshing and unexpected, a dictator's approach.
