Skyrim: The Dragonborn and the Skaal Shaman
The Dragonborn collapsed to his knees, breathing heavily trying to take in his senses. He sensed the Skaal Shaman beside him.
"Are you well?" Frea asked.
"I feel tired."
"Did you kill him?" She asked hopefully.
The Dragonborn nodded, stood up and raised Miraak's mask for all to see. "Miraak is dead by my hand. He will never threaten Solstheim again."
The entire village cheered knowing that they will never be under the influence of Herma-Mora or the Traitor.
The Dragonborn felt his head spinning. Frea saw this and supported him.
He tiredly said. "I'm tired. I'll just borrow your bed if you'll allow me."
Frea replied as she walked him to her home. "Of course. You need rest."
The Dragonborn clumsily ripped his helmet off from his head and dropped it. He collapsed on one of the beds and slept instantly.
Frea looked at the Dragonborn's features: He is clearly a Nord too but with white hair and matching white beard. He is wearing a Daedric armor set that looked completely alien to her village. At his neck, she saw an Amulet Of Talos. She saw his hand limp out of the bed and examined it.
It is the Ring of Hircine.
Frea remembered listening to the Dragonborn's conversations with her father and he revealed that he is a werewolf. Storn didn't seem surprised by this and inquired if he can control his power. The Dragonborn assured him that he can which relieved him.
She saw his pack and out of curiosity examined it. It is filled with plenty of potions plus a Stalhrim armor set that she didn't believe that he can make. She also saw a Nordic Greatsword and an Enchanced Dwarven Crossbow though she didn't know such weapons exist. She also saw two Daedric artifacts like Azura's Star and the Volendrung.
She closed the pack and saw the Dragonborn stir up and awaken. He sat up and looked at her staring at him.
He asked humorously. "So can you tell me why a Shaman of the Skaal is looking after me in my sleep?"
She replied semi-honestly. "I was making sure you're well and you didn't suffer any injuries."
He asked. "My helmet?" She gave it to me and then said. "Thank you for looking after me Frea. I'll be going outside." He picked up his pack and went outside with Frea following him.
Fanari Strong-Voice and the others are waiting outside and when the Dragonborn finally went outside she announced. "For your aid, I speak for the Skaal when I say that you are hereby named Skaal-Friend. If you ever need a place to stay for a day, come to us and we will treat you like family."
The Dragonborn replied. "Many thanks Fanari." Fanari smiled and patted him on the shoulder as she left and the group dispersed.
He turned and saw Frea smiling at him. She asked. "What do you intend to do?"
The Dragonborn frowned as he said. "I believe that I should find a place to hide these books. I have gathered enough knowledge from them and I believe that they should be kept hidden."
She nodded in understanding. "Please be cautious..."
The Dragonborn smiled behind his helmet and replied. "Worry not. I won't be alive if I didn't." His left hand turned purplish and cast it on the ground, summoning a purple skeletal horse.
The Dragonborn ride on it as he called out to Frea. "Alright, I'll be going. Hopefully I'll make it back before dark. Shouldn't take me long." Then he had his horse sprint off and left the village.
"May your sword and your arrows strike true." She whispered to him, watching him disappear from the village.
She went back to the her deceased father's house, now hers and sat at the bench, in front of the door as she watched her village at work, the smithing, the tanning and the skinning and the chatting of her fellow villagers. She reflected her time with the Dragonborn.
Ever since they met each other and started traveling with one another, they've enjoyed each other's company and would share tales of experience. She remembered his fighting style and his personality.
The man often carries a Two-Handed weapon and a mighty warhammer named Volendrung which he uses with great skill plus the fact that he is Dragonborn makes him a formidable fighter. Despite his occasional confident boasting of 'I cans', he remained humble which earned hers and the village's respect towards him as he assured them that he will help them after this business with Miraak is over.
She admired his humility and his honor. Despite admitting that he's a werewolf, he didn't seem to be affected by it and Wulf told her that he aided several of his hunters during his travels and didn't take his share, letting his hunters take the spoils.
She felt something blossoming in her chest though she had no idea what it is or how to solve it. She felt kinship towards the Dragonborn which is a brother and sister relationship level though it seemed to be so much more.
All-Maker guide her in figuring it out what is was she is feeling as she breathed out a heavy sigh. She hoped to see the Dragonborn soon.
Meanwhile, the Dragonborn is riding on his skeletal horse as they traveled to Miraak's incomplete temple. His thoughts drifted off and into a certain blonde Skaal.
Ah Frea...he admired her ferocity in combat and her fearlessness. There were few women that he liked and respected though she takes the cake for originality. Her lovely face planted on his mind as her sapphire eyes stared at him with a feeling that he recognized as an attachment to him though something is blossoming inside of her. He'd probably tell but he didn't have hard evidence yet.
He arrived at Miraak's temple, scowling at the sight of it. Better that over being complete he supposed. He went deep into the temple and found the place he and Frea found the first Black Book. He opened Waking Dreams and tentacles grabbed him by the neck and dragged him to Aprocrypha.
The Dragonborn found himself in the hazy green atmosphere and the sea of toxic green liquid. He is standing in the same area where Miraak died.
"Hermaeus Mora? I wish to speak to you." The Dragonborn called out to the Daedric Prince of Fate, knowing that pissing him off in his own realm is unwise.
An eye surrounded by a dark cloud and tentacles appeared above him and asked. "Ah...has the Dragonborn returned to my precious place of knowledge?"
"Yes, but not to reenter your service." He replied, trying to be respectful.
"Oh? Why come to my realm then my champion?"
He explained. "I have all of your Black Books. I am not in the mood to hide them where I first found them and I'm going to leave them here in this temple. As they are yours, I wish to return them to you."
"I see. I shall take them back, re-add them to my library and then place them back to Tamriel when I, as the Daedric Lord Of Fate, decrees it as the right time. How is that?" Mora asked.
"Good enough. So long as no one will find them and doom themselves reading them."
"Farewell, Dragonborn. May your travels bring you knowledge and wisdom." Hermaeus Mora said to him.
The Dragonborn made a small bow then opened the Black Book again.
When he returned to the temple, he backed a bit seeing the covers of Waking Dreams open from its stand and a dark cloud appeared over the books he placed in a bent line in front of the book of pedestal. Tentacles came out, instantly grabbing each book and took them back to Apocrypha. With that finished, the dark cloud vanished.
The Dragonborn nodded and went back to the Skaal Village and to Frea.
He went back to Frea who is sitting on a bench. She smiled seeing him return.
"How are you today?" He asked.
"My heart is still feeling heavy with the loss of my father." She replied forlornly.
Seeing that, he sat beside her and held her shoulder in comfort. Before he could speak, he saw Fanari Strong-Voice and Deor Woodcutter conversing about something.
"I'll go check it out. I'll be right back." He tells her and she nodded though he didn't see it.
"It makes my heart heavy that you don't believe me Fanari. Baldor could be in danger and you will do nothing. If you won't help me, then I'll ask the All-Maker to send someone else who can." Deor argued.
Fanari nodded then left.
"Who's missing?" The Dragonborn asked.
"Baldor Iron-Shaper. As our only Smith, he is very important to the village."
"Did anything unusual happen around the time of his disappearance?"
"If I recall correctly, there are two elves dragging something from a far distance. I didn't think much of it at that time."
"Where did they head?"
"South and West. Please find him for us. He is the only one who knows how to forge Stalhrim as it is an ancient tradition."
"Ok. I'll look for him and make sure he comes back alive."
"All-makes guide you, outsider." Deor blessed him then left.
He walked to Frea and asked her. "I'm going to find Baldor. I could use your company."
She stood up and smiled. "I'll travel with you."
The Dragonborn made a slow nod. "The Skaal won't mind if you'll travel with me. This won't take long."
"I'm ready when you are." She replied.
The Dragonborn nodded twice then summoned that skeletal horse again. He climbed on top of it and slapped it's back as a signal for Frea to hop on which she did. The horse galloped out of the village.
After an hour of searching, they found the elves at an abandoned house.
"Thalmor..." the Dragonborn growled behind his helmet. "Of course it'd be like them to start trouble even for a place like this." He looked over his shoulder at Frea. "I'll charge at them. You jump off and fight them."
"Understood." She replied and readied her Stalhrim and Nordic axes.
"THALMOR FILTH!" The Dragonborn roared and charged at the first elf and before he could begin his warning, the man timed his Nordic Greatsword at his throat, killing him.
Frea jumped off the skeletal horse and dodged the sword swing by the elf. She slammed her Stalhrim axe at his leg and flurried both axes at his chest. She evaded the second elf's strike and immediately decapitated him. A third is charging at her only to fall down dead, courtesy of a crossbow bolt to the head by the Dragonborn.
The Dragonborn got off of the horse and complimented her. "Nice work with these elves, didn't give you too much trouble."
She smiled at him. "Thank you Skaal-Friend."
"Now let's see if one of those bodies have the key inside." After searching the elves bodies, he found the key and read a note about an interrogation.
They went inside and go underneath the place where the Dragonborn can make out the bald figure of Baldor Iron-Shaper.
"I remember you Outsider, you're the one who freed our people from that cursed spell. Thank the All-Maker you're here. These wretched elves have taken me from my home."
"Are you hurt badly? I can heal you if you are." The Dragonborn offered but Baldor shook his head.
"My wounds aren't serious. These elves aren't trying to harm me, only to frighten me. I think they want something from me."
The Dragonborn narrowed his eyes as he said. "So it is Thalmor. What do they want from you?"
"What is this word 'Thalmor'? As for what they want, I think that they want to learn the secrets of Stalhrim. Their leader, Ancorian I think, has a map that shows where Stalhrim is. You have to get it back."
"I will Baldor. I swear it." The Dragonborn replied then explained to the two Skaal. "I don't think I can explain what they are but all I can tell you is that whatever you have, they want and they're not really into asking politely. Trust me, I freed a thief when he got kidnapped by these elves." He saw the shocked look of Frea and Baldor.
"Those wretched robbers!" Frea cursed.
"Now I understand why they kidnapped me, they want my knowledge on how to craft weapons and armor." Baldor said in realization.
The Dragonborn nodded and remarked. "It's a good thing that Frea and I got to you as we did. If we didn't, the Thalmor would've beaten the daylights out of you and I mean it."
Baldor nodded and pleaded. "Please get it back. I don't know what will happen if they've gotten their hands on all that Stalhrim."
"Worry not, we will. Can you get back to the village safely?"
"I can. All-maker bless your days." He said as he gotten up with some difficulty and then left the house.
The Dragonborn summoned the skeletal horse again and he and Frea ride on it as they traveled through the northern coast of Solstheim. They can see Northshore Landing from a distance.
The Dragonborn charged and screamed with hatred and fury in his voice which Frea clearly noticed. "DIE THALMOR SCUM!"
The Thalmor soldier failed to notice the scream as his head is smashed by Voldendrung's blunt head. Frea jumped off and fired her Nordic bow at another soldier in the chest. She charged and made a horizontal slash with her Stalhrim axe and stabbed his shoulder with her Nordic one before kneeing him, causing him to fall into the water.
The Dragonborn charged at Ancorian and run him over with his Greatsword and took the map. He smiled and summoned the horse again. He and Frea rode on it as they galloped back to the village.
"Did you manage to retrieve the map?" Baldor asked while putting a metal stick in the water tray.
"Indeed. Here it is." The Dragonborn hands it to him.
"You keep it. And when you want to learn how to craft Stalhrim weaponry, you come to me." Baldor said, handing it back.
Deor came and asked Baldor. "You're back! Did those elves do anything to you?"
Baldor replied. "Just some bruises but nothing I can't heal. It thanks to our friend here that I made it back."
Deor made a small bow to the Dragonborn and said. "You have my thanks in saving Baldor, you have helped preserve our traditions." After that, he left to do his own business.
The Dragonborn shrugged and placed the map inside his pack. Then he asked Baldor. "How do I forge Stalhrim?"
"You need Stalhrim of course then with enough skill, patience and with the right materials, you can forge it to something useful. It's much like working on ebony. Actually if you know how to forge ebony, you already know everything you need to learn to forge Stalhrim too."
The Dragonborn smiled behind his mask. "I know how to forge ebony. That's why I'm wearing this armor." He pointed at his Daedric armor.
"That's quite a menacing armor set you're wearing friend. But if you know how to forge ebony, that's good enough. I guess you already knew everything on how to forge Stalhrim."
The Dragonborn pulled out a Stalhrim type armor set from his pack and placed them on the workbench. "Speaking Of Stalhrim, you got any for sale? I'm going to improve this armor's quality here."
Baldor nodded and sold the Stalhrim he has and one Quicksilver Ingot to the Dragonborn. The Dragonborn used four to improve the armor.
Baldor looked over his shoulder as he hammered the items with great precision. He is impressed by the quality he made them as he complimented. "You have the spirit of a great hunter from what I hear and an excellent Smith. Better than me to be honest."
The Dragonborn shrugged as he improved the foot piece. "At least you admitted that someone is better than you. I always kept hearing a certain someone from Windhelm go on about being the best Smith in Skyrim."
(Meanwhile in Windhelm.)
Oengul War-Anvil sneezed while using the Grindstone.
"Something wrong?" Hermir Strong-Heart asked while hammering on the Workbench.
"Just someone talking about me and I don't think it's a compliment." Oengul replied as he continued sharpening his weapon on the Grindstone.
(Back in Solstheim)
"This set is Deathbrand Armor, I found the set whilst traveling around Solstheim thanks to a book and a map. I already killed its owner and took his swords." The Dragonborn explained while hammering the bracers.
Baldor asked. "I suppose that you intend to improve it for your personal use?"
He turned to Baldor. "Not me. For Frea."
Baldor was shocked and turned to Frea with her expression mirroring his. Then he turned to the Dragonborn as he explained. "I studied Frea's fighting style and I examined this armor and its enchantments and I believe that this will suit her well. Her current armor is good but I think this one's going to fit her nicely."
Baldor noted. "You seem to have an eye for magic."
The Dragonborn noted as he hammered the helmet. "I am. I enchanted this armor to suit my needs and fighting style."
Baldor's mind clicked on something as he inquired. "Is there something between you and Frea?"
The Dragonborn stopped hammering for a second then continued as he replied. "Well I admit, we've been traveling together for some time and we are good friends but nothing beyond that. I doubt that the Skaal would approve of a werewolf outsider who doesn't stay in one place for five minutes."
Baldor assured him. "You may not be one of us but you're the next best thing with all your skills."
The Dragonborn finished hammering the helmet as he said. "Thank you." Then he turned to Frea. "Can you give me your weapons? I'll improve them."
Frea gave him her axes and he improved them on the Grindstone with the one Stalhrim remaining and a Quicksilver ingot. He returned to her which he proudly boasted. "Legendary quality axes made by yours truly!"
Frea took them and placed them on her hips. "Thank you Skaal-Friend."
The Dragonborn took the Deathbrand armor set Baldor had given him and said to her. "Let's go to your home and fit you with this. I promise that it will improve your combat skills."
"Very well." She replied as she went inside. The Dragonborn thanked Baldor and paid for the materials. He watched as the Dragonborn entered the Shaman's hut and closed the door.
The Dragonborn gave Frea the Deathbrand armor set for her to wear and walk to the enchanting area while she took off her Carved Nordic Armor to wear it. To her surprise, it actually fit her well and she felt it's magic properties swell on her. The Dragonborn came out and asked. "So how was it?"
"I'm surprised that it fits me well. I feel more comfortable wearing this than my usual armor." Frea admitted honestly.
"Keep it. When I saw the enchantments on that armor, I immediately thought of you. I knew it would suit your fighting style well and some."
Frea nodded then they both went outside.
An old man wearing Fine Clothes walked up to them. "I heard from Deor how you went in search of Baldor. Very brave and I'm hoping for that courage because I want to ask for your help."
"I helped a man in need, that's all and I'm going to guess that what you're asking is dangerous." The Dragonborn remarked and the old man nodded.
"Quite right! Quite right! And your modesty and bravery can make me see why the Skaal favor you a lot. I have a job offer for you and it's paying work I can guarantee for an adventurous type like you."
The man introduced himself. "My name is Tharstan and I'm a historian who came to Solstheim to study the ancient ruins that are around it. I've been studying the Skaal and learning more about their culture thanks to their hospitality. I should let you know that I found an old tomb that seemed to be opened by an earthquake followed one of Red Mountain's eruptions. I'd love to take a closer look but I don't know what dangers await inside and I'm no fighter. I'll pay you to guard me and we'll see what we can discover inside."
The Dragonborn smiled behind his helmet. "Sure I'll take the job. Last thing I need is idiot adventurers walking right into traps thinking there's treasure. I had enough of that in Skyrim already."
Frea inquired. "So temptation of treasure can make adventures greedy and careless?"
The Dragonborn nodded. "That's right. One elf got his body bashed by a swinging spike trap AFTER he got shoved by a Draugr and one stood on a trap that impaled her with spikes."
Tharstan flinched at that and remarked. "All the more reason to have you with me for my expedition. I'll pack my things and meet you at the tomb!" Tharstan left.
Frea and the Dragonborn arrived at Vahlok's Tomb where they met Tharstan there. The Dragonborn wasted no time in instructing Tharstan. "If you see draugr or any kind of creature inside, run, hide, I'll find you. You just help in whatever puzzles this tomb holds and I and Frea'll take care of any that might attack us."
Tharstan commented. "From your orders, I can tell that you have experience exploring through temples. Very well, I'll just stay back let you two do all the fighting."
They entered further and thanks to Tharstan who explained what the inscriptions are about, the Dragonborn solved the puzzles. They went left and right, killed the Draugr attacking and then the Dragonborn took halves of an Amethyst Claw and Words Of Power in the process. They went back and Tharstan explained the inscription to the Dragonborn who activated some sort of magic platforms and ran through them. He did the same in the consecutive bridges which impressed the old man greatly.
They entered through the hall of stories where Tharstan remarked about it and managed to make out some undamaged text where the Dragonborn understood the combination and used it to open the iron door.
They entered a very wide chamber where a sarcophagus opened and it revealed a Dragon Priest! Not to mention the fire traps, the fire Destruction spells he cast and a Flame Atronach. Ultimately, the Dragonborn defeated Vahlok the Jailor by cornering him to a wall and killed him.
They approached the third word wall where Tharstan expresses his surprise and happily pays the Dragonborn 1,000 gold and allows he and Frea to leave while he studies the wall, knowing that it is safe thanks to them.
When they arrived back at Skaal Village, the Dragonborn saw that they had left at night and it is morning. Well, everyone in the village is doing their usual tasks. A motherly woman approached the Dragonborn and said. "Outsider, I want to ask for your help with something personal."
Seeing the Dragonborn gesture to continue due to his helmet covering his expression she explained. "My name is Edla and my son, Nikulas who is a good lad and strong and loyal young man but he wants to leave the village to explore. I am worried for his safety and I still haven't gotten over the passing of my husband even though it's been many winters. I implore you as a mother to convince him to let go of this wanderlust."
The Dragonborn nodded. "I'll do it."
The woman named Edla said gratefully. "Thank you Outsider. You have been out in the world and have seen many perils. I know he'll listen to you." She pointed at her son sitting on a bench beside her house to help him get started.
The Dragonborn with Frea following him approached the young man and he beamed at them. The Dragonborn started the conversation. "Your mother sent me to talk to you."
Nikulas sighed as he looked out in the sea. "I know what this is about. I know it may seem meaningless to an outsider like you but we Skaal live very boring lives. I want to do something with my life other than farming, fishing and hunting deer. I want to hunt the deadliest creatures and claim vast riches, to earn great glory to give to my mother and my village."
The Dragonborn shrugged as he sat beside him. "You know, you remind me of a certain lad from a town named Rorikstead. He told me that he got sick of farming and want to explore the world so he asked me to convince his father who is a bartender to let him go. The father explained that he is saving up to buy some armor. I helped him by generously giving him some money to pay for that armor. A week later, he became a mercenary and today he is a steward who looks after my home along with my housecarl while I'm away which is most of the time."
Nikulas beamed at the Dragonborn and asked. "Is it possible to ask my mother to buy me some armor?"
The Dragonborn replied. "I don't think she'll like that and before you can protest let me tell you something: What you say about adventuring is all well and good. It is a blessing but it is also a curse."
Nikulas frowned as he asked. "How could such a thing be a curse?"
The Dragonborn sighed as he rubbed his lower ribs absently. "Adventuring is good because you get to explore new lands, meet new people, make more experiences. Adventuring is well because you can find great treasure, money and maybe make new abilities on your own or others. I say it is a curse because you are often moving from one place to the next, you'd probably have no time to sleep and you don't have a home to settle down. In short you can't be still because there's always a cave or a Fort or whatever that you're going to clear out. Also when I was in Skyrim, people would often ask me to retrieve something from a location that's been inhabited by monsters and very bad people. I'm not going to lie to you, I went to places that you won't believe that existed. I traveled through hell -literally and figuratively- and survived that. I often had my dealings with daedra and earned their favor, some of them are crueler than most. And in the worst case scenario, you can get yourself killed exploring in dangerous places and trust me when I say that I've faced death many times. I've seen dead adventurers who think the same as you whilst traveling though there were a few that lived long enough to retire. Even worse, I can recall a few times where families died either by traveling or by different circumstances."
Nikulas was in shock after the Dragonborn explained his experience. "I had no idea about that. What you said scares me and I can see the truth behind your words. I'm not sure what to do next."
The Dragonborn put a hand on Nikulas' back as he gently said. "Your mother needs you because she is still grieving for her husband. You should stay here as adventuring isn't a perfect life. It's too late for me as it is already in my blood but you still have your duties as a son and a member of the Skaal. It is safer and very less painful to do so."
Nikulas looked at the Dragonborn and replied. "I see that in my eagerness for adventure, I have forgotten those parts you said. Maybe I can truly face danger by training with Wulf Wild-Blood and honing my skills and maybe one day I can make my mother proud by helping the hunters kill the predators attacking a village. You helped me see wisdom and I thank you for that Skaal-Friend."
The Dragonborn stood up and said. "You are welcome." Frea gave him back his helmet for him to wear and they walked to Edla.
When the Dragonborn told her the good news, she gave them some ingredients and said. "May the All-maker bless you with many sons and daughters, Outsider. Once again you've shown that you're a true friend to the Skaal. There's not much I can offer to one who has so much already but I can give you these herbs that are unique on this island and cannot be found anywhere else." The Dragonborn nodded then left.
The Dragonborn and Frea went inside the the Great Hall where they found Fanari Strong-Voice eating a piece of bread on the right of the hall seating on a chair with a table.
When the Dragonborn offered his help, Fanari explained that bandits have been coming at night, stealing their food and asked to deal with those thieves.
The Dragonborn 'pffed' behind his helmet and boasted. "Bandits. I killed plenty of those back in Skyrim and in Solstheim. Even a certain female Dunmer asked me to retrieve her book from a shipwreck inhabited by bandits. I can do it." He didn't care that they are reavers because they are basically bandits.
Fanari looked pleased and blessed. "May the All-maker give you the strength of a great bear and your will the firmness of a Stone."
The Dragonborn turns to Frea and tells her. "We must part ways for now. I'll be back soon after I hunt down a few puny bandits."
Frea nodded and told him. "Farewell Outsider." She left for her home.
The Dragonborn Whirlwind Sprinted out of the village and once he's far away enough from prying eyes. He used the Ring of Hircine for what he thinks to be last time he'll use because he plans to use the four unique rings he bought from Majni of the Frostmoon Pack. He transformed into a werewolf which let out a loud roar then began sprinting with greater speed towards Brodir Grove.
Meanwhile at the village Frea reflected on the Dragonborn's words to Nikulas. She had to admit for a man who boasted to Fanari, he can speak wisdom when it comes to it. She even overheard him telling Baldor that the Skaal don't approve of him due to being a werewolf and being a traveler and in a way, he's right. Still he isn't like all the adventures who came to the village who often flirted with her and stench of death that made her want to gag. He carried himself an aura of knightly nobility, cleanliness and honorable intentions. It is the traits that made her drawn to him more than ever and she enjoyed this feeling though she didn't know it. It is her hope that the Dragonborn will return soon for if he does, she'll want to travel with him again.
(Meanwhile at Brodir Grove)
"Never should've come here.."
"Die monster!"
"Die, you filthy beast!"
"AAAGHAGAGAHAAGAHAGAGA!"
"Werewolf!"
"Ah! It crushed his head!"
"No more! I yield! I-grlgrlgrlgr..."
"Take this- Wait, let me go! Aaagh!"
"No! No! AGHAGAHAGAGAGAHGA!"
"No! No! Stay away from me you monster! NOOOOO!"
(Later at the Skaal Village)
The Dragonborn went back to the Great Hall looking pleased and walked to Fanari. He declared. "This bandits are dead. I killed them." He said like he's just discussing the weather.
Fanari smiled. "We of the Skaal are in your debt friend. Your news warms my heart as sunlight warms the skin on a cold day."
Then she remembered something as she asked. "Do you have any tasks right now Outsider?" When the man shook his head she continued. "We are going to gather at the hall later this evening to tell of our tales. You are invited and you can come if you wish."
The Dragonborn beamed behind his helmet. "I'd love to. I have plenty of tales to share."
Fanari replied and nodded. "Then I hope to see you there."
Two days later and at nightfall, all of the Skaal, Tharstan and the Dragonborn are in the Great Hall telling of their tales. However when it comes to the Dragonborn's turn, all he had to do was ask Tharstan about what a daedra is and he went story mode, everyone sat by the fire while he stood and spoke.
"You know guys, this isn't the first time I met Herma-Mora." Looking at Frea he said, "I know you probably be angry as he killed your father but I feel you should know the truth. During my quest to defeat Alduin, I found a brilliant but crazy scholar named Septimus Signus who asked me to inscribe some kind of cube into a place called the Tower of Mzark by way of Blackreach. After I found the Elder Scroll, I went back to Septimus who asks me to gather the blood of every elf. It was there I met Herma-Mora."
"What did Herma-Mora say?" Frea asked a little too suspiciously.
The Dragonborn said mimicking Hermaeus Mora's voice. "Come closer..bask in my presence. I am Hermaeous Mora. I am the guardian of the unseen, and knower of the unknown. I have been watching you mortal. Most impressive." He speaks in his normal voice. "He told me that Septimus' usefulness is nearing it's end once he's opened that Dwemer lockbox and offered me to be his replacement as his emissary. I accepted."
He continued. "When I've gotten his Oghma Infinium, he declared me his champion and let me keep it. I let Neloth borrow it for a while then he let me keep it. I'm sure all of you know that I had his Black Books. It was in his realm in Apocrypha that he knew me as his champion." He said the last part in with a hint of fondness.
Finally he said. "Of course, he asks for knowledge for knowledge. To defeat Miraak, I need a shout that can subjugate dragons to my will. Herma-Mora gave me the second Word for free when I got the Black Book with Neloth's help but he told me that he needed the secrets of the Skaal."
"Through my father." Frea spat bitterly and a hint of anger.
"Yes. He was true to his word as all of you saw. He killed Storn to add the Skaal's knowledge to his own."
Oslaf accused. "So it was you that murdered our shaman!"
The Dragonborn fired back. "I've spoken to Storn about Herma-Mora's demand and he understood the risks. All of you were witnessing it. No 'murder' was committed by me."
He added. "But it paid off in the end. All of you are free, no longer to free and not under the influence of Miraak." Seeing Frea nod, he told her. "I know what you're going to say next: I shouldn't let Herma-Mora led me down to his side and I'll answer to you when I say that I have rejected his service and when I do decide to side with him, it'll be my choice and no one else's."
He looked at Tharstan. "I know all the Daedric Princes as I've met them all. Most of them are evil but I met a few good ones."
Wulf Wild-Blood said. "In the days before, you told me what happened to my brother and Hircine."
The Dragonborn nodded. "That's right. During my travels throughout Solstheim, I found Torkild and he transformed into a Werebear! He managed to pin me down and tried to claw my face off! I managed to grab my Nordic Dagger and stabbed him in the neck. He fell on me and I couldn't pry him off of me. It was only thanks to the hunters who returned from a Netch hunt that they freed me off of him."
Then he told Wulf with a bit of excitement. "Speaking of Hircine, I'd like to tell you all a tale on how I met him."
Finna asked. "Where did you meet him?"
He replied in story mode. "It started when I found a couple mourning and a priest of Arkay performing his rites. When I asked, the husband named Mathies told me that their very young daughter was murdered by a werewolf named Sinding." Seeing everyone gasped, he continued. "I went to him and he revealed that he had a ring that is supposed to let him control his transformations. Hircine didn't like it and cursed it. So he asked to commune with Hircine to take the ring off. He told me to kill a white stag and Hircine will communicate. He gave me the ring and escaped his cell."
Deor asked. "Did you kill it?" The Dragonborn nodded.
"'And skillfully too.' Hircine said when he appeared before me. He told me to kill Sinding and added that there are other hunters as he wanted a little competition. However when I found him, I decided to side with him against the hunters. Sinding thanked me and told me that he will stay away from civilized villages from now on."
Wulf Wild-Blood mused. "I imagined that Hircine is displeased."
The Dragonborn only let out a hearty laugh in response. "Quite the opposite in fact. He appeared before me and praised me for turning the chase inside out, even adding that these aren't your regular prey. As a reward for amusing and impressing him, he lifted off the curse from the ring and let me keep it."
Wulf looked astonished and nodded.
The Dragonborn said to Tharstan. "I know when I said that most of the princes are evil but not all of them. I met all of them and earned their favor. As a result, they named me their champions and I get to keep their artifacts."
Ysra asked. "Are the tasks they gave you dangerous?"
The Dragonborn nodded. "Perilously so. Some of the things I did for them where questionable and I'm not proud of them but I don't want to think what would happen if I disobeyed."
Tharstan inquired. "Judging by the fact that you lived to tell the tale is that they are pleased with what you've done and they did not corrupt you?"
The Dragonborn replied. "Yes. I may have aided the most vile of Daedric Princes like Mehrunes Dagon or Vaermina or maybe a madman like Sheogorath but I am still my own man and I aim to keep it that way."
Sighs of relief aired the Hall.
Fanari declared. "We have some tales that our hunters told us but yours is most intriguing. We enjoyed hearing your tales and are looking forward to hear more."
Baldor inquired. "Are any smiths you know that are 'the best' in Skyrim?"
The Dragonborn rubbed his jaw below his helmet and said. "Eorlund Gray-Mane who forges Skyforge Steel for the Companions in Whiterun. I know many blacksmiths who call themselves the best but there's one thing that you have that they don't."
Baldor frowned in confusion as he asked. "And what's that?"
The Dragonborn smiled at him behind his helmet and answered. "They couldn't forge Stalhrim."
Baldor Iron-Shaper smiled and nodded.
The Dragonborn continued telling his tales in Solstheim which the Skaal and Tharstan listened with rapt attention. After that, everyone went to sleep.
The next morning, the Dragonborn went to Frea who is sitting by the bench.
Frea said. "My father was a noble man and a true Skaal."
The Dragonborn sat next to her and replied. "True. I owe to him the chance for defeating Miraak and I've paid it back." He held a hand to her shoulder in comfort.
Frea mused. "I can hope that the All-Maker can receive him."
"Me too." He replied.
"Do you believe in the All-Maker?" She asked, looking at him.
The Dragonborn shook his head. "No, I believe in Talos but I am interested in learning more about the All-Maker. At least no wars are fought over your culture while mine suffered a civil war."
Frea beamed at him. "My people are more than happy to explain our religion and culture to you."
The Dragonborn remarked through his helmet. "Yes. Tharstan told me about that and I read his book in your home next to that Arcane Enchanter."
Frea proceeded with her question. "So what do you come to me for Skaal-Friend?"
The Dragonborn took off his helmet, looked at Frea seriously and requested. "I'm going back to Skyrim and I'd like you to accompany me."
Frea felt her heart flutter. As much as she'd like to accompany him, she can't abandon her people. The Dragonborn can tell as he pointed out. "I saved yours and your people's lives. And I've spoken to Fanari in advance, she has agreed to let you travel with me for a while on the condition that you survive. Besides, your people are safe and there aren't any threats that can harm them beyond a few animals."
Frea said eagerly. "I will follow you Skaal-Friend. But I must return to the village afterward."
They both stood up and the Dragonborn put on his Daedric helmet and declared. "Let's go."
They left the Skaal Village saying their goodbyes to everyone and headed for Raven Rock where the Dragonborn paid Captain Gjalund for passage back to Skyrim.
Riding on a ship and heading back to the mainland of Skyrim is nothing new to the Dragonborn but it is an entirely new experience for Frea.
They got off of the Northern Maiden where the Dragonborn helped Frea step to the docks. He ordered her. "Before we start traveling I have two rules you should follow: One, keep any beliefs you have to yourself. This is Skyrim, not Solstheim and the people here worship the nine divines of the empire. Two, if there's anything you want or need, just ask me." He commented humorously to himself. "I sound like Adril back there."
Frea shook her head as they walked inside Windhelm. "You need not worry about me Skaal-Friend. I can take care of myself."
The Dragonborn faced her fully, held her shoulders and said. "Absolutely not Frea. I'm responsible for you."
"But-"
"No buts." The Dragonborn said, cutting her off and signaling to her that this is the end of the discussion.
They went to the Palace of the Kings where the Dragonborn tells her. "I'll talk to Jorleif for a bit. You can sit for a while and wait while I do it."
"Very well." She replied.
While the Dragonborn is talking to Jorleif about improving Hjerim, one of the male Stormcloak soldiers walked to Frea and asked. "Are you here to join the great Stormcloak army?"
Frea shook her head.
"But you're a Nord. Any true sons and daughters of Skyrim must join the Stormcloak army for our homeland." The male soldier said.
Frea wanted to say that she isn't from around here but she doesn't know about Skyrim enough to make a polite answer.
Another male pointed out. "That armor of yours and those weapons don't look like they're from Skyrim. How and where did you get them?"
Frea decided to say. "I am only here to travel with the Dragonborn. I do not involve myself with matters in Skyrim. As for these armor and weapons, I'm afraid to say that it's a secret." After saying that, the other soldiers started gathering around her, she looked at the Dragonborn hoping he would get her out of here.
"Say, you look like you've seen your fair share of combat. You can talk to Galmar to see you worth." One female said.
"I must admit she's a pretty one. Is she married to anyone yet?" One male asked his friend.
Then a man wearing bear walked forward to Frea, the people surrounding make way for him out of respect. His deep growling voice addressed to Frea. "I am Galmar Stone-Fist. Commander of the Stormcloaks and Ulfric Stormcloak's right hand. You have the look of an outsider but you are a Nord."
Frea decided to share the courtesy of politeness since the old man shared his name. "I am Frea of the Skaal. I have traveled far from my village with my friend. I am waiting for him as per his request." She saw the murmurs of the men and women and she could tell the they haven't an inkling of what the Skaal is.
Galmar raised an eyebrow at that and remarked. "A Skaal? I do not know what that is but you are a Nord. Have you come to join our cause and fight the Thalmor and their Empire puppets?"
Frea didn't know how to answer that but she didn't have to as she heard the Dragonborn yell. "FREA! I'm done. Let's get out of here." She saw the Dragonborn walking closer and she stood up and said. "I will follow you and I'm eager to leave."
The Dragonborn raised an eyebrow at her comment then he saw the large number of Stormcloak -both men and women- and Galmar looking at them. Speaking of Galmar, he walked to the Dragonborn and inquired. "So this woman is your follower?" When the Dragonborn nodded, he asked. "Is it possible for you to persuade this woman to join our cause? From this warrior's eye, I can tell that she is effective in combat. She can make a fine addition to our ranks."
The Dragonborn shook his head and said. "I'm afraid I can't because it's out of my hands. She only agrees to travel with me because I asked but I can't take her away from her village in a more permanent basis."
But Galmar is persistent. "If you can't, perhaps I can try to persuade her?"
The Dragonborn sighed and said. "Fine. Tell you what, you can try to convince Frea to join your cause but if she says no, you better respect her wishes."
One of the male Stormcloaks challenged. "And what happens if we don't?"
The Dragonborn shot back. "Then I'll have my friend pin your body to a wall with arrows while I sing the 'Age of Aggression'."
The male Stormcloak looked like he got punched in the face with that threat. Galmar can see that the Dragonborn is being serious with his request. So he looked at the Skaal woman and asked her. "Do you wish to join Ulfric's army? We freely worship Talos and not have a single elf tell us who we can and cannot worship. We are free men and women of Skyrim and the Empire and the Thalmor will not take our independence from us. You will be most welcomed among our ranks and with the Dragonborn on our side, you will have the honor of meeting our future High King, Ulfric Stormcloak."
Frea looked hesitant but the Dragonborn gripping her arm encourage her to answer. "No, I'm not here to join. I do not worship your nine gods and I do not wish to be involved with the intrigue this land seems to have. I have my village to go home to and I dare not forsake my standing as Shaman of the Skaal."
Galmar frowned and replied. "That's too bad. If I may ask, where do you came from? I know a Nord when I see one."
The Dragonborn butted in. "She's not from around here."
She answered. "I come from the island of Solstheim and from my village." Many murmurs began but a hand from the Dragonborn stopped them.
Suddenly Ulfric came in and said curiously. "Judging from that armor and that accent you're speaking, you're not from around here. Forgive my curiosity but I'd like to see you fight with those axes of yours. Oh! Where are my manners as acting High King? I am Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl Of Windhelm."
"Frea, Shaman of the Skaal. I am traveling with the Dragonborn here."
"Dragonborn. With your permission, I'd like to see this woman square off against Galmar and some of my best soldiers." He requested politely and wondered if the Dragonborn is willing to let his follower get hurt.
To his and his men's surprise, the Dragonborn only made a hearty laugh and answered. "When this is over, you're going to need a healer but not for my follower. I'll let you guys fight her but no killing."
Galmar nodded. "Agreed."
Ulfric inquired. "Aren't you a little worried that your follower is going to be outnumbered five to one?"
The Dragonborn remained confident and boasted. "I saw her fight three to four Draugr Deathlords and she killed them by herself. She can more than handle herself in a fight."
Ulfric said. "I'll hold you to that."
At the prison area of the barracks, Frea pulled out her Stalhrim and her Nordic axes while the others pulled either their one handed or two handed weapons. Galmar pulled out his battleaxe.
Two soldiers charged at her and Frea casted Mage Armor on herself and made her battle cry. "I will strike like a hawk!"
The male swung his Greatsword in a in a wide arc but Frea ducked and slid underneath it. The female tried to hit her with her warhammer only for to evade it. The male swing his Greatsword but Frea parried. The female swing in a downward arc but Frea dodged it and countered that with a kick. As for the male, she slammed her Stalhrim axe down at his shoulder. The man cried out in pain and tried to swing his Greatsword with one hand but Frea dodged that predicable swing and countered with and Nordic axe swing, it knocked his helmet and knocked him out. The female saw this and charged at her with her warhammer raised. Frea saw this and did a barrel roll to avoid it. Then she slashed her back with both axes, seeing the female soldier fall down to the ground, Frea charged at that soldier, make her turn around and punched her in the face with her fist gripping her Nordic axe.
The other soldiers saw this but they did not let this discourage them as two more charged at Frea with sword and mace drawn. Frea saw this and made her second war cry. "I do not fear death!" And she charged at death with the intention of battling. One soldier swing his sword only for her to block it with her Stalhrim axe and swing her Nordic arm on his sword, disarming him. She deliberately tripped him and it made him fall down. She sensed another soldier charge at her and he managed to hit her back. It didn't deter her in the slightest as she dodged and used that momentum to throw him forward, making him stumble. The sword soldier managed to stand up and stab her in the gut though thankfully the Deathbrand and Mage armors blunted that attack and she countered it by slamming the sharp tips of her axes down at sword and it broke in half. She pulled out the sharp end of the sword on her gut and threw it down at the floor in anger. Just as she was about to strike at the offender, the mace soldier hit her in the side with his mace. Again not much damage and Frea countered the third one by punching him in the face with the grip of her Stalhrim face and shoving him to his ally, making them stumble on contact and fell down.
The mace soldier saw that his ally is unarmed and lent him his Iron dagger which the other took gratefully. They saw their enemy cast another Mage Armor on herself and charged at her. She evaded the mace soldiers swing and used that momentum to to counter the dagger one and as she elbowed the other soldier, she slashed her Nordic axe at the dagger soldier's stomach, taking him down. She easily blocked the mace soldier's attack and she kneed him and finished him with a Stalhrim slash at the upper part of his chest, nearly at his throat.
With both soldiers, down Galmar went next. He charged at her with his battleaxe.
Frea blocked the battleaxe but Galmar slammed his fist at the wood handle, breaking the hold and hit her side with it. Frea tried to hit him with her Nordic axe only for Galmar to sidestep and backhand her cheek. She tried to jump and hit with her Stalhrim one but Galmar caught it and head butted her. Galmar proceeded to swing his battleaxe at the side of her head. It hit and it's only because she still has Mage Armor active and her Deathbrand helmet that the attack didn't do much. He followed up by hitting her head with the back part of his axe and slammed the flat part of it to her face, sending her flying to some distance away from him and crashing down.
Frea got to her knees, casted a Restoration spell to heal herself and then stood up. She gripped her Nordic and Stalhrim axes a little tighter and charged at Galmar.
Meanwhile Yrsalad Thrice-Pierced, Ulfric and Jorleif plus the Dragonborn are spectating this fight. The three Stormcloaks are astounded that one foreign Nord can take out four soldiers by her lonesome.
Then the Dragonborn cheered. "Go Frea! Five hundred gold says you beat Galmar's butt!" Then he glared at Yrsalad and a few other Stormcloaks who are surprised and dared them to challenge his bet.
It would be a betrayal to the Skaal if he'd bet against her.
Galmar parried the strikes with great difficulty but didn't notice the punch made by a Stalhrim axe gripped fist to his face until it is too late. When Galmar came to his senses, he found himself backing away barely avoiding Frea's swings. He kicked her legs and used that distraction to retrieve his Iron Battleaxe. He blocked Frea's double axe landing to him and kicked her in the stomach away. It did nothing to stop her as she yelled out a war cry and Dual Flurried him ferociously. Galmar was hard pressed to parry the attack and barely managed to push her away. Galmar tried to hit her with his battleaxe but Frea sidestepped it and slashed his leg and then his back.
Galmar swung his battleaxe with greater effort and harder strikes. Frea dodged and evaded and made a double flurry attack at him which all of them hit and Galmar took a lot of damage. He made a lucky hit by slamming his axe at her shoulder but it didn't bother the Shaman in the slightest as she shoved it away and then hit him with her Stalhrim axe.
Frea backed away a bit and charged at him. In his tired state, Galmar tried to block the downward swing Frea is going to launch. It proved to be a fatal mistake as the two axes broke it in half. Frea sweeps Galmar on his feet and he found himself with two Stalhrim axes with their tip touching his throat. He saw the Skaal Shaman glaring down at him with her eyes looking at him like a predator finishing its prey.
He finally announced in defeat. "I yield!"
Frea let go of him while saying to herself. "I thank you for your protection All-maker." She began walking to the Dragonborn bolstering her axes.
Galmar stood up clutching his throat looked at the Dragonborn and admitted. "I think I like her ferocity in combat. Very inspiring."
The Dragonborn gave a victorious grin to Yrsalad and the other Stormcloaks as they are dumbfounded seeing the mighty Galmar Stone-Fist lose. "Ha, Frea won! I win! Now pay up." They did, grumbling all the while.
"I must admit that you have quite a follower by your side Dragonborn. I have never seen a woman of her skill fight victoriously before. I am impressed." Ulfric declared.
The Dragonborn nodded. "Thank you Ulfric. Now if you'll excuse us, we'll be leaving the Palace now." Ulfric nodded and they left the barracks while he ordered the spectators to tend to the wounded and his friend.
When the Dragonborn and Frea went outside, hordes of Stormcloak soldiers began asking Frea out. It followed when the Dragonborn went browsing in the market and it irritated him when he began to hear poems of love and saw the gifts of flowers they bought from Sofia to give to Frea in order to win her heart. With a nod from the Dragonborn, an equally irritated Frea walked towards the training dummy next to the stalls and smashed the poor thing into pieces with her axes. Through this act, it scared her admirers off.
As they are exiting Windhelm and walking to stables to catch a ride on the carriage the Dragonborn asked. "Did you get hit on by men back when your father was alive?"
She nodded. "Yes. Their aura reeks of death and decay which I never liked. My training with Skaf the Giant usually scared them off." She looked at the Dragonborn and commented. "But you are nothing like them. Your aura is one that is of humility and honor."
They climbed the carriage as the Dragonborn ordered the driver to head for Falkreach. He replied. "Thanks Frea. That means a lot to me." They sat on opposing seats and she smiled at him.
They arrived at Falkreach where Frea asked. "What is this place? I can sense nature glooming and depression here."
"Falkreach is Skyrim's biggest cemetery and this is where all the warriors and maybe a few people go to be buried when they die." The Dragonborn replied as they walked with purpose. "Speaking of cemeteries, do you Skaal bury your dead like your Skyrim counterparts?"
Frea shook her head. "No. We set up an altar and place the body of a fallen Skaal on it. There we cremate the body and hope that the All-maker will receive him or her."
The Dragonborn raised an eyebrow but did not look at her. "I'm assuming that's what you guys did to Storn?"
"Yes."
The Dragonborn made a noise and continued walking as he said. "That reminds me, I should go to that old elf, Runil, and fulfill Morwen's request."
"And that is?" Frea had a good idea of what it is but she wanted to hear it from the man himself.
"Morwen wants me to give her mother's necklace to Runil and tell him she sent me."
They walked to the old Altmer Runil where the Dragonborn told him that he's been sent by Morwen for a favor by placing her mother's necklace at her mother's grave.
"Ah, Yes Bera's silver necklace. A wedding gift that she rarely took off. A touching gesture to display the symbol of her devotion in such a way. You can tell Morwen that I'll be happy to grant her request. I'm sure that her mother and father will be overjoyed to know that as they walk in Aetherius." Runil said with fondness.
"She's not exactly young anymore."
Runil only shrugged. "Ah well. I suppose she'll always be that feisty little girl I used to know. Of course, when you reach my age, you'll find the word 'young' is a very relative term."
The Dragonborn made a tired sigh. "I guess you could apply that to myself. I'm not young anymore, I can still hold my own in combat but I know that one day, I'll have to retire."
Runil nodded in understanding. "From what you told me of young Morwen, I believe that you might want to have to settle down and find someone to spend the rest of your days with. I know what it's like to be tired and weary of fighting."
The Dragonborn said. "We'll be going now Runil. See you around."
Runil called out as they left. "Life is too short friends! Don't waste it!"
The Dragonborn waved behind in reply. He summoned the skeletal horse, rode on it while Frea jumped aboard behind him.
They galloped nonstop, not even stopping to attack the occasional animal or bandit trying to attack them. They arrived at Riverwood where the Dragonborn and Frea got off and went inside the Sleeping Giant inn. Frea saw the Dragonborn and a man wearing Stormcloak apparel shaking hands and embracing. She sat along while they sang song with Sven who is currently playing 'Tale of the Tongues'.
Frea was asked by the Dragonborn if she want anything to eat. She only asked for cooked Horker meat and water. There she stood behind him while he enjoyed the company of friends.
A few hours later and they left the inn. The Dragonborn summoned the horse again and they ride it then galloped off to Whiterun. Once they're inside the gates, the Dragonborn and Frea walked to Jorvaskr where the Dragonborn reported that Markath has one less criminal roaming around. Vilkas is pleased and awarded 300 gold as payment.
Suddenly Farkas walked to the Dragonborn and requests. "Travelers have been coming to walking telling stories of dragons. I've heard those tales but didn't believe they're real. I know that you're a brave man but I want to see and maybe fight these beasts to prove that they're real."
"Let's go and kill ourselves a dragon." The Dragonborn declared.
Farkas beamed at him. "I know a place where we can find one. Lead on, Harbinger!"
The Dragonborn turned to Frea knowing that Farkas'll be replacing her as his follower. "I'd send you back to your people but you don't have the coin to pay for passage back to Solstheim. It's best if you stay here in Jorvaskr or wait inside my home of Breezehome. Either way, don't leave Whiterun. I'll be back soon."
"If that is what you wish." Frea replied.
The Dragonborn nodded then he went outside of the hall along with Farkas.
The Companion asked. "Who's she?"
The Dragonborn shrugged. "Just someone not from around here who agreed to travel with me." They went outside the city's gates then left Whiterun.
Frea decided to spend her free time by going to the training area and practice her Archery on one of the round targets. Using her Nordic Bow, she shot bullseyes at the stand with every arrow of Nordic craftsmanship.
She heard a voice addressed to her. "Looks like the Harbinger got a foreign girl at our hall." She turned to see Njada Stonearm.
"How may I assist you?" Frea asked politely.
Njada declared. "Since you're traveling with the Harbinger, let's say you and I have a sparring match. Let's see what 'guidance' he has on you."
"Is this Harbinger the Dragonborn?" Frea asked.
"Yeah, comes around Shouting like a Whirlwind. Now are you going to agree or not?"
"Very well, I accept." Frea replied as she put her Nordic Bow on her back and pulled out her axes.
Njada pulled out her Iron Shield and her Skyforge Steel Sword and waited for Frea to attack. Frea did and Njada bashed her back. Frea casted Mage Armor and unleashed a Dual Flurry on Njada, she blocked them all but it drained her stamina.
Njada swing her sword at Frea which the Shaman dodged followed by a shield swing which Frea parried clumsily. Njada blocked Frea's Nordic Axe and tried to attack with her sword. Frea parried it and slashed Njada's leg with her Stalhrim axe.
Njada hissed in pain and charged at Frea. The blonde woman readied herself and dodged it all the while slamming her Stalhrim axe on her back. Frea tried to follow by hitting Njada with her Nordic axe but Njada reacted fast enough to block it.
Njada bashed Frea which stunned the Skaal Shaman and hit her three times with her sword. Njada followed up with a charging swing at Frea which hit. Frea cried out in pain but it didn't hinder her ability to fight as she evaded the third swing and slammed her Nordic axe at Njada's shoulder. Njada tried to swing with horizontal angle but Frea blocked it with her Stalhrim axe and swing her Nordic one at the sword, breaking it in half.
Athis and Torvar happened to be watching and the latter spit his mead while the former watched in amusement knowing that it's time that Stonearm will get her butt handed to her.
Njada was enraged that her sword is cut in half which will make her have to pay Eorlund for repairing her sword. She bashed Frea away with her shield and charged at her in a speed that prevented the blonde woman from reacting. Njada tackled Frea to the ground and bashed the flat part of her shield down at the Skaal Shaman's face three times and adding the fourth one with the extra strength from her anger. Frea managed to push back and kick her away, giving the Shaman enough time to recover by casting Mage Armor and Restoration to heal herself.
Njada wasn't pleased with that. "So you can cast spells? That's cheating!"
Frea didn't reply as she charged at Njada and slammed the sharp edge of both axes at her shield. Frea didn't let up as she hammered the shield until she kicked that shield which made the Companion grunt.
Njada became angry and grabbed the broken part of her sword with the handle and rushed at Frea. Frea evaded the useless strike and hit her shoulder with her Nordic Axe. She dodged the handle and countered it by punching Njada in the face with her Stalhrim axe gripped fist. Njada, dazed at the blow, attempted a stab but Frea locked that offending arm with her Nordic axe gripping arm and slashed Njada in the head, causing her Hide Helmet to fly out.
Njada kicked Frea away and dropped her shield and picked up the upper part of her sword. She charged at Frea with both pieces of her sword but Frea parried then easily. Frea Dual Flurried Njada though the Companion made a lucky hit by hitting Frea's chest with the upper part of her sword, Frea ultimately won the match by hammering Njada in the chest three times and without her shield to block them, Njada took them head on and is defeated. Njada tried to throw in a defiant punch but Frea easily blocked them and slugged her in the mouth, knocking her out.
The spectators Torvar and Athis witnessed it. Torvar was having his jaw hanging down while Athis looked pleased. Meanwhile Aela, Ria, and Vilkas walked out hearing all that commotion and were surprised that a foreign woman can best one of their own.
(Meanwhile with the Dragonborn and Farkas)
Farkas is on the ground at Eldersblood Peak watching the Dragonborn riding an Ancient Dragon versus a Legendary Dragon. The Dragonborn managed to hit the Legendary with Dragonrend which forced the Legendary to land.
"Yes, Thuri. Wah golt. I will land at once." The Ancient Dragon replied as it landed next to Farkas.
"Farkas, climb aboard!" The Dragonborn barked and when the Companion did, he had the Ancient Dragon take to the skies once more. The Dragonborn began explaining his role in the fight.
"Farkas, I'll charge at that dragon over there. You're going to jump in there and stab it as much as you can. My dragon is outmatched against it so you're going to be my best bet."
"I'm ready. This'll be one story I'll be telling to my brother." Farkas replied without fear.
The Dragonborn nodded and ordered his dragon. "Fly to that dragon over there!" Pointing at the Legendary Dragon flying at them.
"As you command." It replied as it flew at the Legendary and collided with it.
While the two dragons are trying to bite each other off, Farkas jumped off the Ancient, landed on the Legendary and began stabbing it on the head with his Skyforge Steel Greatsword, causing the beast to cry in pain as it let go off the Ancient and blasted Frost Breath at its face. The Ancient roared in pain and made the Dragonborn wobble around on top of his head. Still it's persistent in latching off on the Legendary as it saw Farkas impale his Greatsword near its nose.
GAA...LAH...HAS!
The Legendary made its Drain Vitality shout at the Ancient making it groan in pain. Farkas continued stabbing the head of the Legendary and the Ancient helped him by blasting Fire Breath at it. The Legendary made a groan but managed to bite the Ancient in the head, barely missing the Dragonborn as it pushed the Ancient away and started falling down.
Farkas lost balance and started falling down from the sky. Thankfully the Dragonborn's dragon managed to catch him with its talons as it started descending. The Legendary did a lot of damage to it that it started to feel weakened. The Ancient Dragon descended to the ground and released Farkas making him land safely on the ground seconds before it crashed landed and the Dragonborn jumped off its head. The Ancient Dragon died after that.
The Dragonborn ran to Farkas and offered a hand to him while asking. "Are you okay?"
Farkas nodded and accepted the boost to lift him up. "That was a battle!"
"You did well." It is a compliment from the Dragonborn as Farkas contributed in the fight against the Legendary Dragon.
Farkas appreciated the praise and they saw both the corpses of the two dragons disintegrated into nothing more than skeletons. Farkas was awed as the Dragonborn absorbed their souls.
They looked at the corpse of the Legendary Dragon as Farkas said. "I'm sorry about that dragon you rode on." The Dragonborn just waved it off.
"Anyway, you can go back to Whiterun if you want to. I've never seen bones this large and I want to make sure I remember them so that I can tell it to Vilkas when I get back or he'll say I'm just making it up." Farkas told the Dragonborn. He nodded as he summoned the skeletal horse and rode away, leaving Farkas to stare at the skeletonize corpse of the Legendary Dragon.
(Whiterun, Jorvaskr)
When the Dragonborn got back, he was surprised to see most of the Companions knocked out unconscious. The only one left was Torvar and he is barely holding on.
Frea disarmed Torvar's mace and then knocked him down. Only a hand on the shoulder by the Dragonborn stopped her.
"That's enough Frea. No need to kill." He tells her and then waves an arm around the bodies. "I'm assuming that these are your doing?"
"Skaal-Friend, after my match with the one known as Njada. They set up matches against me two to one. I prevailed against them."
"Please tell me you didn't kill then because if you do, I'll have to kill you. Skaal Shaman or not." The Dragonborn said seriously.
"No I did not. I merely knocked them unconscious as I do not want to put you in a bad light by killing them."
"Good to hear." The Dragonborn said in relief.
Aela barely managed to gasp out from her current position. "She's a beast...Harbinger...she took down all of us and can still...fight..."
Vilkas added, lying on his back and his Greatsword beside him. "She even used magic...that's unfair..but still...she fights with ferocity worthy of a Companion..."
The Dragonborn just sighed as his left hand turned golden yellow, approached every Companion and then casted Grand Healing to restore their Health back to life. He got a job from Aela that involves taking out a Frost Troll lair in Haafingar. After that, things went normal for the Companions as they said goodbye to their Harbinger.
The Dragonborn and Frea left Whiterun though the latter stayed silent believing that she offended her friend. As soon as the Dragonborn paid the carriage driver to take them to Riften and they climbed aboard, Frea spoke with regret. "Skaal-Friend, I am sorry for attacking members of your faction. I know that I have been challenged to a fight and I won, I feel like I have dishonored you by attacking the rest of your members."
"As long as you didn't kill them, I am fine with that. They're rough but they don't actually murder each other. And since you didn't kill them, you have nothing to apologize for." The Dragonborn spoke in a tone that told Frea that he forgave her.
They arrived in Riften where Frea instantly disliked the place as she didn't like the crime sprees happening here and the corruption stench leaking from it.
"Frea, I'll just pass two jobs then we can move along. I should confess that I often take things. I know it's bad but just keep this between us, okay?" The Dragonborn said to her as they are walking to the hidden passage to the Ragged Flagon.
"Skaal-Friend, I need your honesty for this one." Frea requested seriously. "Do you plan on taking anything that belongs to my people?" When the Dragonborn shook his head, she demanded. "What about that Ancient Nord Pickaxe that Glover Mallory stole?"
"That was Glover's work, not mine and I hadn't been to Solstheim yet at that time. As for your people, no offense to you but there's nothing that your people have that I want. Anything I need, I can either buy or craft." The Dragonborn pointed out as they went to Delvin and Vex and the Dragonborn passed the jobs.
He received new ones and they walked to the carriage driver where they are heading to Winterhold.
"This place is very cold." Frea commented as they are walking to the College.
"Windhelm is just as cold yet I don't hear you complain." The Dragonborn pointed out.
"Because I was fighting with those 'Stormcloaks' back then so I didn't feel the cold inside." Frea remarked as they walked inside.
"You know, you can learn some new spells here. Maybe some Alteration and Restoration books might interest you?"
"No thank you Skaal-Friend. What I have with me is sufficient."
"Hmm. Worth a shot."
The Dragonborn went to Tolfdir who gave him gold after he reported that he had taken care of another anomaly appeared in Hjaalmarch and then went to Urag to give a book. Afterwards he went to Surgius Turrianus and gave the old man an item from a client. With that done, they immediately left for Markarth.
While riding on the skeletal horse, Frea felt the rush of air during the galloping as she sat behind the Dragonborn. She buried her face on his back while he rode on. She felt the need to address one of her issues as she asked the Dragonborn. "If I may, I'd like to discuss something with you."
"I'm afraid it'll have to wait. Until we're at a safe place." The Dragonborn declined.
"As you wish but it's something I like to share and I feel it is personal."
They barely evaded the animals and any that did get close where shot by Frea using her Nordic Bow as she switched to the back and shot two wolves that are chasing them. Afterwards, they happen to run across some suspicious looking imperials along with some dead bodies. The Dragonborn ordered Frea to stay on the horse while he went down.
"Uh..this here's a closed area citizen. I'm afraid you'll have to pay a toll of 100 gold. What do you say?" An orc imperial faked demanded.
The Dragonborn merely raised an eyebrow and commented. "Three imperials vs a Stormcloak huh? And you don't look like real imperials judging from the corpses behind you."
The orc merely growled. "Fine then. Guess we'll just have to take your money from your corpse!"
The Dragonborn started saying softly. "Have you noticed that there's a man that wants to be left alone and wearing armor you never seen before?" He pointed his thumb to himself. "I am such a man."
"That man is completely mad!"
"We outnumber him three to one! We can take him!"
"Two soldiers and an officer. I won't even break a sweat."
"If you think that's all we have, look around." The orc gloated.
And soon, five more bandits disguised as imperial soldiers surrounded the Dragonborn.
"I prefer this!" The Dragonborn growled in a goading tone.
"Once we've dealt with you, we'll take your woman and that horse you have!" The orc snarled as he and his two subordinated charged at the Dragonborn.
VEN...GAAR...NOS!
The Dragonborn shouted out Cyclone which sent them flying briefly and damaging them heavily. He equipped his Nordic Greatsword and shouted...
SU...GRAH...DUN!
He used Elemental Fury next and swung his Greatsword as if he is swinging a one-handed sword. Good thing for him, most of the bandits are carrying stolen Imperial Swords as they are cut to pieces by the Greatsword. A few manage to hit him but the Dragonborn just shrugged them off and continued hitting them with aggressive attacks.
Frea just saw the one-sided slaughterhouse and is impressed by the Dragonborn's fearlessness in battle. Then again, he never backed down from a challenge when they fought together back at Miraak's temple.
The Dragonborn killed nearly all of the bandits with his Greatsword as he felt one charging behind him only to be shot dead by a Nordic Arrow thanks to Frea. She shot another bandit in the head trying to swing at him with his sword. The Dragonborn put away his Greatsword and equipped Volendrung where he bashed another in the face and then decapitated him. (Don't ask)
"Please don't kill me! I have a stash that can make you rich!" The orc pleaded as one of his legs was frozen when he took a direct hit of the Cyclone.
"Let's hear it." The Dragonborn said.
"Underneath one of the bodies is patch of uneven dirt. It is where we store the soldier's pay and we took the travelers tolls. I think it's about 1000 gold or more." Then the orc pleaded. "Now keep your promise! Let me go!"
"What promise? Your coin will feed the Stormcloaks and the people of Skyrim while you will feed the bears." And with that, the Dragonborn raised his warhammer and crushed the screaming orc's skull. Frea had to look away from such a sight.
He moved the bodies and saw the uneven dirt where he used a nearby shovel to dig it. Many gold of 1,543 which he took.
As he rode back on the skeletal horse, Frea commented. "Your fearlessness never ceases to impress me."
"I faced more dangerous beings than just a handful of imposter imperials." The Dragonborn remarked as they rode on.
As they went to Markarth, they settled in Vlindrel Hall where Frea inquires. "Tell me you must have time."
"What is it you want to talk about?"
"I apologize Skaal-Friend if I'm being unclear of my intentions. I have never explored this emotion before."
"Take it easy Frea. I'll listen if only you would talk."
"When I started traveling with you, you have become someone I can be comfortably close to when you're in Solstheim. Ever since the death of my father Storn, I have accepted the position as Shaman of the Skaal. Although there are other positions I aspire to be, I know that the Skaal need a Shaman and I have accepted my place."
"About your father..I know it's my place to say this but I don't think they should make you Shaman so soon. You've not enough time to grieve."
"But it is an honor to serve as Shaman. To speak for the All-maker is a privilege and not a burden."
"I did not say that you should not be a Shaman. I said that you shouldn't have gotten a position right off the bat. I know when I said that you've not enough time to grieve and I meant it. Go on, speak about him and I'll listen."
"MY father. The only person who died in this 'battle' against Miraak. Both he and Herma-Mora killed him using that wretched book you've brought to him. I don't know what Herma-Mora intends to use that information for and I don't care. His rather twisted and mocking way brought me no humor." She ranted and she looked at the Dragonborn sitting beside her in his bed, never interrupting her. "I am aware that it is a necessary sacrifice and not in vain but I still cannot believe that my father is gone."
Not thinking, she touched the Dragonborn in the chest. "You have been a blessing to us. You have aided us in our struggles and never once judged our beliefs. I do not know any Outsider with noble souls such as yours. You have saved my people Skaal-Friend and I know that they will never forget it. As for me, I am happy for this opportunity to see the world for wisdom is the child of experience."
"I'd like to hear your thoughts."
"I'm not sure how to say this as I've never experienced this emotion before but whenever I'm traveling with you, I felt a sort of kinship with you. We've been adventuring together for some and we've only been friends but I'm wondering if you want to take this friendship to the next level and..." She paused to collect her thoughts while the Dragonborn remained silent. "I know my answer and I wish to know yours when I say that..I love you.." There she said it. She didn't know why she confessed but she has been holding this in and felt like the Dragonborn should know.
The Dragonborn was stunned. Frea confessing her feelings to him? That was something he didn't expect for a long time. To be honest, he felt the same way but expressed his worries as he replied, hand gently grasping her hand on his chest. "Frea, I am willing to have a relationship with you and I am yours until the All-Maker bids our time here is over. But are you sure you want us to be lovers and then finally married if that's part of your culture? Don't get me wrong, I think you're an INCREDIBLY strong woman. One of the strongest I've ever met to this day but I'm not sure if your people will accept a werewolf such as myself who is always traveling around."
Frea leaned into his shoulder, knowing that while he acknowledged her confession he is worried about the Skaal accepting him. "You raise a valid point, Dragonborn. I confess that I overheard Oslaf talking to his wife Finna about you while you were hunting bandits for Fanari. He said to her that he will NOT accept you as a member because he is worried that your 'taint' will 'corrupt' us because of your lycanthropy. How he planned to kill you if you ever get attacked by animals and then lie to everyone that they killed you." She gripped a piece of his armor while the Dragonborn had a look of being stabbed in the back behind his helmet.
"He said that?"
"Yes. He was convinced that even though that you have aided us by doing our favors, you're nothing but a monster that will turn on us the moment we are comfortable around you and will kill us all while taking our items and secrets for yourself."
"Frea, I would NEVER do that to your people. I have my honor and I would sooner give my soul to Herma-Mora rather than betray your people. To do so will mean dishonor and I prefer death opposed to it."
"I am happy to hear that Skaal-Friend. But I'm afraid that Oslaf needs convincing."
"There's Deor, Baldor, Edla and Fanari. I'm not sure Tharstan counts as he isn't a part of your village but I know he can vouch for me as he is studying your people."
"What you say is true. If this is possible, are you willing to be a member of the Skaal?"
"Truthfully? I believe I want to. As my age catches up to me, I feel weary of the traveling and all I wanted is to slow down but with all the obligations I have to do, I'm afraid that I won't stay in your village for very long."
"As long as you do not turn against my people or disrespect our beliefs, I'm sure my people wouldn't mind if you leave to travel."
Frea turned to the Dragonborn and then slowly lifted his helmet. The Dragonborn made no move to stop her as she lifted it off his Daedric helmet and then softly placing it on the stone bed.
Afterwards, she cupped his cheeks and then kissed him deeply. The Dragonborn absorbed the kiss and kissed back. He hugged her back and then brought her closer. She then slowly kissed her way to his neck and he felt the urge to moan in bliss. Her hands also touched his sides and parts of his chest, making him moan in pleasure.
The Dragonborn remembered he had hands and subsequently used them to touch Frea's breasts. She moaned at his ministrations to her chest as she found it hard to touch his torso on account of his armor. He felt the same way due to Deathbrand armor she's wearing. He just settled in kissing the side of her neck which made her moan in pleasure.
He pulled back and saw Frea blushing and enjoyed the sight of it. "How are you feeling?" He asked.
"I feel refreshed and I am glad that you are mine Skaal-Friend. It has been an honor to be your follower and I will follow you to the depths of Oblivion if I am able."
"I am happy too Frea. To have a strong woman by my side means that any children we will have will be strong to support the village for years to come."
"I know that part, it's just that I haven't the time or pleasure to look deeper. My father always talked about werewolves and werebears and asked Skaf the Giant how to fight them but he also explained to me that when a wolf mates, it's for life. They are faithful and devoted to their mate until the end of their days and they make love to their mate as if there's no tomorrow."
The Dragonborn had to give Frea credit for understanding werewolves and mentally thanked Storn for teaching her that part. He said. "In that case, you don't have to worry about me betraying you for another and I can control the beast inside of me as if it is nothing. It is satisfied with the hunt."
"May I ask about that vampire woman? Who is she to you?" Frea inquired as she often heard his tales about his vampire follower and how fondly he spoke of her.
"Serana? She and I came to an understanding. I don't know if you know this term but Serana and I are friends with benefits. Sometimes my life will be too stressful and she will be too depressed so we engaged intercourse to get rid of all the stress we've both been experiencing. As you should know, it works perfectly and we are ready for adventure. Both of us win." Seeing Frea's look telling him that he should be careful with his next words lest he offended her. "I know what you're thinking of. Her vampirism had nothing to do with our relationship halting. She confessed that she cannot go to a temple as they terrified her due to her past. I can understand her reasoning and fear and I will respect it."
"How will she feel if you tell her that you're ready to move to a new relationship?"
"Then she'll accept it with no question and we'll still be friends."
Frea nodded, happy to know that this won't bite them in the future. He picked his Daedric helmet that and exited Vlindrel Hall.
They left Markarth after that and they went to a Falmer-infested cave where they ventured to retrieve a staff for Neloth. Frea expressed to him about wanting to go back home and he is happy to obliged. They went back to Windhelm where they paid Captain Gjalund for passage back to Solstheim.
They arrived in Raven Rock where they went outside of the Bulwark enough for the Dragonborn to summon the skeletal horse which will take them to Tel Mythril. Neloth is pleased to sense the staff and awarded the Dragonborn with a new one.
They rode to Miraak's Temple where both of them scowled at the sight of it where the Dragonborn had enough of it and snarled. "I'm sick of that eyesore of a temple and all of the dragon skeletons surrounding it! I believe that it should have been destroyed."
"On that, we agree Skaal-Friend." Then a question popped in her mind as she asked. "What of the Tree Stone that the temple is established upon?"
"Good question. I believe that I can use my shout to tame dragons to our advantage. They can lift the thing and carry it to another location."
"I will accept this Skaal-Friend. I just hope that the dragons don't damage it too much." Then another question popped in her mind as she asked. "What of the people inside?"
The Dragonborn didn't seemed concerned with that. "Growing a conscience Frea? All of the people are free when I killed Miraak and the temple was empty when I went back to it. As for any remaining cultists inside, they can die screaming for all I care." He remarked that with coldness.
Suddenly two Dragons, a Serpentine Dragon and a Revered Dragon and two Legendary Dragons are flying above then. However they made no motion to attack.
"Thuri." The Serpentine Dragon spoke in a deep voice while the Dragonborn made a hand signal to Frea to stand down. "We are free from Miraak's influence are now yours to command."
The Dragonborn commanded. "I want you to lead these two dragons." Pointing at the two dark ordinary Dragons. "And make them carry the Tree Stone out of the temple. Have them carry it and drop it gently to the southernmost part of Solstheim."
"By your command, thuri." The Serpentine Dragon lifted off.
The Serpentine unleashed its Frost Breath and the two Dragons roared as they rode to the Tree Stone and with a great cry and a mighty effort, lifted it and they worked together to fly it to the southernmost part of Solstheim and gently placed it on the ground.
"Your command is fulfilled Thuri. What are your orders?" The Serpentine asked.
"All dragons, burn this temple to the ground as you did in ages past!" The Dragonborn commanded and all the dragons roared and unleashed their breaths at the temple.
The Serpentine landed and the Dragonborn rode on its head while gesturing Frea to do the same.
The two ordinary Dragons, the Revered Dragon and the two Legendary Dragons roared and began thrashing the temple and did not stop until the temple is nothing more than a pile of smoking rubble.
And if anyone did walk to it, all they would find is an unrecognizable ruin that served no purpose.
While riding on the Serpentine Dragon, the Dragonborn declared. "You have done well in removing that speck of rock and stone from the face of Solstheim. Let not a traveler walk into it and be trembled by its great signifance. Let it be buried by ash and snow!" The Dragons roared in agreement. "As my reward for your service, I am letting all of you go. I cannot promise that I will not try to kill you in my travels but as long as you do not threaten villages and cities, I will not pursue."
The Revered Dragon among them said. "You do us great honor with your agreement Thuri. I speak for the rest of my kind here that we shall honor your promise for as long as we are able if we value our lives." The Dragons roared their agreement.
The dragons dispersed by flying away and the Dragonborn flew to the Skaal Village where the Serpentine they were riding on declared the end of his service and flew away when he and Frea got off to the ground.
"It might be uncharacteristic of me by saying this but I thank you for ridding the world of that vile place and evil man." Frea said as they walked back to the village.
"I'll just go to Morwen. See you later." The Dragonborn and Frea parted ways briefly.
When the Dragonborn told her that Runil agreed to her request, she replied. "You bring warmth to me Outsider and I am in your debt. Accept this helmet as a token of gratitude and know that that you are an ally of the Skaal. "She gave him a Nordic Carved Helmet.
The Dragonborn asked Frea to travel with him and she agreed. When they are out of the village. They saw 50 cultists surrounding.
"You wretch! You had those beasts destroy our lord's temple!" One female cultist growled.
"I did. It was quite a sight." The Dragonborn gleefully replied
"You will pay for destroying it. Do you know how much effort is put into that temple?" One male cultists sneered.
"No. And I don't care to know." The Dragonborn coldly replied.
"You and that wretched woman will pay for destroying Lord Miraak's temple!" Another male snarled and they all led out battle cries and attack the pair.
Frea picked her Nordic and Stalhrim axes while the Dragonborn unsheathed his Stalhrim Warhammer that he lovingly forged while he placed Volendrung back at Windstad Manor. They charged at the cultists unafraid of death and unconcerned of being outnumbered.
Frea threw her Nordic axe at one male cultist which hit dead on at the head then she picked her axe and parried two swings from a female one hit her stomach two times before slamming her Stalhrim one at her head.
The Dragonborn activated his Dragon Aspect power as he evaded the male cultist's swing and countered by swiping his feet and prepared to finish him off only for a female to tackle him in order to save the male. It didn't do much but it prevented the execution as she managed to land a hit on the Dragonborn but it didn't do much. He blocked her next attack, evaded the male one's hit as it made him accidentally hit his teammate on the shoulder. The Dragonborn swing his warhammer at the male's head crushing his skull off and then finished off the female one by slamming the blunt part on to her skull.
(Meanwhile at Skaal Village)
The Skaal are gathered at the entrance of the Great Hall with Fanari being at the front.
"Fanari, where has Frea went and what of our Skaal-Friend?" Ysra asked.
"I know that they told me that they are leaving the village for a while. Probably going to Raven Rock if I'm not mistaken." Fanari answered.
Baldor decided to try something daring. "Our Skaal-Friend once fold me that he is afraid that we won't accept him on account of his lycanthropy and wandering. I overheard him talking to Frea in accompanying him to Skyrim."
Edla caught on to what he's trying to say. "Are you saying that they are in love with each other?"
Baldor nodded. "That can be a distinct possibility. I saw how those two look at each other."
"No! I won't stand for that! He's an outsider and a werewolf! Nothing more!" Oslaf protested.
Baldor shouted at him. "Stand down Oslaf! He wouldn't take her away from us even in a relationship! He is loyal to us and to her."
"I'm with Baldor." Deor backed him up.
"I as well." Morwen added.
Wulf said. "I stand by him as a fellow hunter."
Fanari pointed out. "He has done nothing but good will and aid to our people and you should be grateful Oslaf. You cannot let your pride cloud your judgement."
Tharstan seconded. "He even aided a fellow outsider like me and he seemed keenly interested in your culture." Fanari nodded to that.
"My apologies Fanari. I had let my arrogance and anger get the best of me." Oslaf stood down.
"Accepted."
Morwen suggested. "Fanari, if he is willing and you considering it, perhaps we can ask him to join us as becoming one of the Skaal? I speak for some of the villagers our friend help that he is welcome in our village and can be a part of our family."
"He is also qualified in several roles such as Hunter, Smith and maybe chieftain if he understands our customs." Wulf added.
Fanari liked the the explanations. "I agree on that one. But the chieftain part will have to wait until he learns more about the Skaal."
Baldor beamed and nodded.
(With Frea and the Dragonborn)
Frea and the Dragonborn continued to fight the cultists and during the fighting, they accidentally switch weapons with Frea holding the Stalhrim warhammer while the Dragonborn held her Stalhrim axe.
"No..no..give me that." The Dragonborn demanded and she tossed his warhammer back to him while he did the same. "You take the little one." Tossing her axe back to her as they fought the cultists.
Frea parried two cultist's swords as she sliced the one cultist's legs and slammed one Nordic axe on the shoulder of another and cut his throat with her Nordic one. She saw two females coming to her and she punched one in the face and parried the other one while shoving her away. Frea evaded the swing and she rammed one Stalhrim axe on her chin and gathered enough strength to lift the female cultist to the ground and then slamming her face with her Nordic one. She noticed the other female charging at her and countered by blocking and repeatedly slamming her Nordic axe at the female's skull.
The Dragonborn is on a swinging frenzy as he kicked the male cultist's leg and killed the second one by crushing his skull and then simultaneously swinging the head to the downed cultist's head. He saw two cultists charging at him left and right and he countered that by kicking the left one at his partner, causing him to collide with him and then he smashed both of their heads with his warhammer, killing them.
Frea did a barrel sword and stab a female cultist in the stomach before decapitating a male one. One managed to punch her in the face but she fought back by punching back with the sharp ends of her axe in his chest and kicking him away, causing two more to stumble on impact. She run a female cultist with her axes and threw her Nordic one at the head of a male one.
The Dragonborn switched to a Nordic Greatsword and when another attacked him with a Steel Greatsword, that one managed to down the Nordic one only for the Dragonborn to headbutt him and slice his left armor off before decapitating him.
The Dragonborn decided to even the odds of being heavily outnumbered by shouting Storm Call and Elemental Fury. He knew that the storm would hit Frea but he is confident that she would just shrug off the hits and battle. He swung his Greatsword like mad while the other cultists are disoriented by the lightning strikes and killed plenty of them.
Frea got hit by a lightning strike and had to grit her teeth to stop the pain. But she does not fear death as she tackled another cultist and smashed his skull with her axe. She went on to see two cultists charging at her with swords drawn. She countered that by grabbing a cultist and pushed him to his partner while stealing his sword. When they tried to attack her, she evaded them and impaled a cultist with his own sword while stabbing the other with her Stalhrim axe.
The Dragonborn countered two sword using cultists by continuously parrying then and when he hit one in the stomach with the flat part of his Greatsword he used this brief distraction to sliced the other's head and decapitated the other.
Frea saw another cultist charging behind the Dragonborn and threw her Nordic axe at his head, killing him. The Dragonborn repaid the favor by firing a crossbow bolt at a female cultist sneaking behind Frea.
The Dragonborn tossed Frea's axe back to her as they watched the many cultists get hit by lightning strikes. Frea got hit too but she didn't mind it too much.
It ended bad for them when Frea got stabbed in the back by a male cultist's dagger. The Dragonborn avenged her by quickly stabbing the man with his Greatsword.
Seeing Frea coughing, the Dragonborn correctly deducing that she is poisoned. He quickly got his pack and made her drink a Cure Poison potion which she quickly drank.
"It's too dangerous Frea and the poison is taking its toll on you. You need to get back to the village." The Dragonborn said.
"But Dragonborn, I'm not leaving you!" She protested, seeing the storm passing and the cultist's recovering. He'll be outnumbered!
"I'm not asking you." The Dragonborn summoned his skeletal horse and ordered her to ride on it, she grudgingly did so.
"Please survive, Skaal-Friend. All-Maker protect you and come back to me..please." Frea pleaded, tears unshed in her eyes.
The Dragonborn slapped his skeletal horse's butt and shouted. "GO!"
Frea rode away while the Dragonborn dealt with the other cultists.
(With Frea)
She galloped back to the Skaal Village where she saw the villagers gathered and expecting.
"What news? Why isn't Skaal-Friend with you?" Deor asked.
"He stayed behind to deal with the Traitor's cultists while he sent me here because I was poisoned by one." Frea explained while getting off of the horse, it dispelled five seconds after.
"Are you hurt?" Edla asked.
"The poison took my strength and stamina from me, but the Dragonborn cured me of it." Frea said then he requests. "He is outnumbered and he is the only one who is fighting with no one to help. Please aid him."
Fanari said. "We shall repay our debt to him and assist him in his hour of need!" The other villagers cheered and some of Wulf's hunters armed themselves and left the village with Frea's instructions.
(Default POV)
Two hours later, they managed to find the site where they were attacked. The hunters saw a rather intimidating sight that will engrave their minds and tell their stories.
The Dragonborn, literally sitting on a pile of corpses along with two Legendary Dragons roaming around and burning or freezing the remaining and wounded cultists.
They didn't need to kill any cultists as they are all hunted down or dead.
They escorted the Dragonborn back to the village all the while seeing the two dragons ignoring them and killing the cultists and then flying away.
The Dragonborn and the hunters finally arrived where Frea instantly rushed to him and fiercely hugging him. "You came back." She said softly. He only made a noise in response.
"Let's go inside the Great Hall where we can check on your wounds, Friend." Fanari declared. The Dragonborn felt too fatigued to protest so he followed along.
He took of his Daedric Armor set and let them tend to his wounds. To Edla and Morwen, they were horrified to see so many wounds on the Dragonborn have, some of them old while others recent. Finna and Ysra literally had to go outside to puke while Fanari and Wulf grimaced. Baldor, Deor, Tharstan and Oslaf winced at the amount of wounds while wondering how did the Dragonborn survive at all. Nikulas fainted as he had not experienced seeing so many wounds and this first time is rather ugly.
Frea, to her credit, did not look away nor did she be disgusted by his ruined body as she let the Skaal healers work on the Dragonborn.
When they are finished, the Dragonborn stood up and wore his set. Frea tried to stealthily walk up to him but it failed when he spoke humorously. "The last thief who tried to sneak up on me ended up being Slaughterfish snack."
She smiled at his joke and waited for him to finish in wearing his armor then embraced him. She felt warmth envelope her being and in the next moment, she clenched her hands into fists as she let the unshed tears fall from her eyes.
"I'm so glad you're okay...I thought you weren't going to make it. I was worried to death." Frea's voice cracked.
The Dragonborn didn't blame her for that as he knew what she went through and couldn't bear to see him dead.
"I had done all that I could and you're still alive! Thank the All-Maker!" She said before starting to sob.
"All is well Frea. And you're the reason I'm still alive."
"Oh? How is that?"
"While I was fighting in a hopelessly outnumbered battle, I pictured your beautiful face and how badly I want to see you again. That's what pushed me to go on fighting and if in the event that I'm dying, I wanted to keep on living until they weren't. So thank you for staying by my side." He said, cradling her jaw.
Frea smiled, looked at Fanari and Baldor who nodded then said. "The village and I have been talking about you Dragonborn. And they all agreed to make you a member of the Skaal for your deeds, skills and your commitment to our beliefs."
Fanari walked up to them and requested. "If you wish, you can be a part of the Skaal and become one of us."
The Dragonborn didn't hesitate as he answered. "I accept."
The entire Great Hall burst into cheers and congratulated the Dragonborn warmly.
Fanari made the Dragonborn kneel and vow three to four oaths of the Skaal and he agreed to them all. She offered him the boost and he accepted, making him officially a member of the Skaal.
"By the blessing of the All-Maker, I welcome you as a member of the Skaal with honor." Fanari said with a smile as she patted his shoulders twice, two lefts and rights.
"Many thanks." He said as he saw Frea run to him and they embraced.
"You're one of us now." She said, smiling.
"And I'm staying with you." He added, smiling back.
"Indeed." She replied and held his face as they kissed.
The ceremony is over and the Dragonborn and Frea are set to be married. Fanari announced it and several of the Skaal supported it.
Frea saw the Dragonborn sitting on the bench inside their home writing letters. She sat beside him and recognized the symbols of the factions the Dragonborn is writing to. Frea is surprised by the amount of influence the Dragonborn has and this explains why he has been traveling all over.
The Dragonborn's mind reflected on events that happened so far. First, he saves the world thrice by Alduin, vampires and then Miraak. Falls in love with a foreign woman and eventually is going to marry her. He has led a rather great and intense life but his content.
He wrote to the Blades too and Frea saw that he is engraving another letter with dragon language of which she didn't understand what it meant. He also wrote to Councilor Morvayn in Raven Rock and closed the letter. She felt a wave of jealousy when she saw him write to Serana that he is officially married to her (Frea) but Frea stomped that quickly when he felt her glaring at him or specifically his letter and looked at her.
She followed him outside where they saw Tharstan walking to them. "I am finished with my research about Solstheim and I'm traveling back to Skyrim."
"While you're doing that, can you do me a favor?"
"Certainly!"
"Kindly deliver these letters to the various factions of Skyrim whilst traveling. As for the Thieves Guild one, tell the thief robbing you that you've been robbed in advance and give him the letter which already had money inside."
"That's a lot of letters. Definitely worthy trip, I will see it done." Tharstan took the bundle of letters. They shook hands and Frea and the Dragonborn watched him leave.
Tharstan walked to Raven Rock and gave one of the letters to Adril Arano then went to Gjalund. Adril opened the letter and read it while Cindiri read over his shoulder. Adril went to his friend Lleril Morvayn and gave him the letter knowing that it is addressed to the Councilor. Lleril read it and felt pleased.
Tharstan traveled back to Skyrim and on the way to Riften where he saw a thief with a knife coming to rob him. He gave the thief a letter and said there's money inside. The thief let him go and read it while taking the gold. He ran back to the Ragged Flagon and gave it to Vex where she read it aloud in front of everyone. They are all happy for their Guild Master and wished him a profitable future.
Tharstan went to Whiterun by way of carriage and gave the letter to Vilkas. Vilkas read the letter aloud to everyone and they ate and drunk happily in honor of their Harbinger. Farkas admitted from what Aela told him that the woman their Harbinger marries is worthy of a Companion and more.
Tharstan paid another carriage to take him to Winterhold. He met up with Colette Marence and gave her the letter explaining that it is to be addressed to the College. She thanked him and went to Tolfdir who ordered her to gather everyone to the Hall of the Elements. Tolfdir read the Arch-Mage's letter in front of everyone and they are pleased that he is doing well. He felt a burst of happiness for the Dragonborn and wished him a happy marriage.
Tharstan managed to walk the 7,000 steps to High Hrothgar and collapsed when he arrived. The Greybeards noticed his arrival and let him in. They provided him dried food and cleaned him. Tharstan gave Arngeir the letter and the Greybeard understood the dragon engraving and allowed the other old man to leave. Arngeir went to the Throat of the World and read the letter to Paarthurnax. To his surprise, the old dragon lifted himself up and flew to the direction to where Solstheim is.
Tharstan traveled to the Reach where he saw the Forsworn attacked him but thankfully the Blades came to his rescue. He gave them the letter as thanks then left as soon as they finished patching him. Esbern read the letter while Delphine listened. They made plans to catch a ship to Solstheim and congratulate the Dragonborn.
Meanwhile the Skaal version of the wedding happened and all the Skaal villagers attended. Surprisingly Neloth attended too as he wished to thank the Dragonborn for all the errands he had him do, even by making him as a test subject for a silence spell while Frea spectated.
When that is over, Frea suggested they spend their honeymoon at the Shaman's Hut, now also considered theirs, but the Dragonborn insisted that they spend it at Severin Manor as it has a bigger bed. Frea agreed.
They went to Raven Rock where they spend their honeymoon there.
Once inside, the two stood and looked at each other for a while then the Dragonborn made the first move by gently pulling Frea to him and then kissed her deeply, she enjoyed it and kissed back.
It interrupted when they heard a knock on the door.
WULD...NAH...KEST!
The Dragonborn is instantly at the door and he opened it to find Garyn Ienth holding a basket of food and Sujamma.
"I know that I'm interrupting your honeymoon but I have a basket from my farm and Sujamma my wife bought as a wedding gift." Garyn explained.
The Dragonborn took the basket and thanked him before gently closing the door.
He went downstairs where he Whirlwind Sprinted back to Frea. They slowly removed each other's armors and put them near the mannequins. The Dragonborn looked at Frea's rather hourglass body and admitted to himself that Frea had quite a womanly and decently muscled figure beneath the Nordic Carved Armor where he first met her.
As for Frea, she studied his features and admitted to herself that for a body ruined by cuts and bruises. He had quite a muscular body that is so manly that it can make women kill themselves over him.
Good thing he's all hers.
Before they could touch one another, they heard another knock. The Dragonborn let out an irritated groan as he Whirlwind Sprinted to the door.
As soon as he opened it, he demanded. "Yeah, what is it-oh!" He saw Arano and his wife Cindiri. "Adril! Sorry about that. What do you need? Is Councilor Morvayn in danger again?"
Adril looked mortified seeing the Dragonborn's naked form as he demanded. "Why are you naked?"
He answered simply. "This is my house and I'm on my honeymoon." Had Adril looked beside him, he would've noticed Cindiri blushing from seeing the Dragonborn's masculine form.
"Councilor Morvayn has sent me to congratulate you and know that whatever you need, we will provide as thanks and consider that our wedding gift to you. May you enjoy your honeymoon with your new spouse." Adril explained.
"Thanks, the Ienth couple already sent their wedding gift to me. Speaking of honeymoons, why is your wife tugging on your sleeve?"
Adril looked confused and saw Cindiri is indeed tugging his sleeve. When he asked why, she said to go to the bedroom with her and NOW, she emphasized.
The Dragonborn merely chuckled as the couple walked away and closed the door. He ran back to Frea and resumed their honeymoon.
They kissed deeply and he touched her breasts which happened to be fairly large form him to grope. Frea moaned during their kiss and used his hands to touch his torso, feeling his muscles. His hands continued to minister her chest while she did the same. Feeling rather heated, they laid down to his bed and continued kissing. He kissed the side of her neck and she moaned at the touch. She proceeded to grab his ass and squeezed the cheeks where he let out a growl of pleasure while kissing.
Another knock stopped their pleasure and the Dragonborn let out an annoyed growl as he ran to the door, not caring that he's naked.
It is Mogrul and his bodyguard Slitter.
"What do you want?" He demanded in an angry tone.
"I wish to inform you to have a happy marriage with your spouse and blah blah blah." Mogrul said in an irritated tone then he added more sinisterly. "You should know that if you buy anything from Raven Rock, you have to pay me as I'm the one supplying it with coin-"
He barely finished as the Dragonborn shouted. "You listen up you milk-drinker! I had it with people coming to interrupt my honeymoon and this is the third time it's interrupted!" Before Mogrul could say anything, he cut in. "Well guess what? I don't like you and I'm going to say this warning only once so listen up! If anyone, I don't care if it's Councilor Morvayn or Neloth or whatever, interrupts my honeymoon one more time, I'M GOING TO SHOUT THEM TO OBLIVION QUITE LITERALLY AND THE SAME APPLIES TO YOU NOW GO AWAY AND STAY AWAY!" Then he slammed the door in front of Mogrul's face. The stunned orc walked away while informing the citizens of Raven Rock not to interrupt the honeymoon.
An angry Dragonborn ran and jumped to the bed where Frea lay waiting for him.
(At the Retching Netch)
After fifty minutes, everyone can hear Frea's screams of pleasure all around Raven Rock and even inside the Cornerclub. Adril and Cindiri weren't present as they are in the Morvayn Manor having intercourse.
Speaking of Morvayn Manor, Lleril was confused to see his friend being dragged upstairs by his wife. A few minutes later, he could hear Cindiri's moans of pleasure downstairs and just enjoyed the sounds from upstairs.
"Man, these two have been going on for hours." Geldis Sadri commented as he cleaned a mug of Flin.
"Don't sugar coat it, just say it! They are having wild sex in the room!" Glover Mallory said.
"Colorful language you got there Mallory." Modyn Veloth commented as he drank Sujamma besides Dreyla Alor. "Besides, it's nice to hear some good sounds every once in a while. Guard duty can become dull after what our friend has done."
Fethis just snorted as he drank some Sujamma. "If my wife was alive, we'd talk about our sex life for hours. I knocked her up and had Dreyla as a result."
Veleth turned to Dreyla as she made a hesitant look and announced their relationship to Fethis. Needless to say, Fethis is downright PISSED and chased Veleth all over the corner club. Dreyla stood up to her father for the first time and insisted that she'll still stay with him while having a relationship to Veleth.
"How could you have a relationship with that guy?!" Fethis screeched, seeing his daughter not backing down. "He's twice your age!"
"Does it matter?" Geldis shouted from his position. "If anything, I can tell that Dreyla and Veleth are good for each other! Or do you prefer Glover hitting on your daughter every day!? This island offers little in the way of companionship."
"Stay out of this Geldis and serve me another Sujamma!" Fethis growled.
"I still prefer Veleth father. He has been good to me and has been supporting my decisions whether or not to continue our relationship. I love him and he wishes to tell you about our relationship to you which he did." Dreyla pointed out.
Fethis made an irritated growl as he interrogated Veleth. "Do you love my daughter?"
"I do." Veleth said unhesitatingly.
"Will you protect her?"
"With my life."
"Will you stay faithful to her in the name of the all the gods we worship until the end of your days?"
"I do."
Fethis made an frustrated sigh as he conceded. "Fine, you have my blessing but if you break her heart, so help me I'll poison the next Sujamma you drink!"
Veleth wasn't intimidated as he shot back. "If I do break her heart, you don't have to do that. I'll be dead by Reaver hands."
Fethis just groaned as he grabbed another jug of Sujamma. When Veleth asked for a room, Geldis rented him one for free out of kindness. Hours later, moans and kisses can be heard.
Then Milore Ienth asked her husband, Garyn a rather flirtatious question. "Do you think you can plant your seeds within me?"
Garyn shivered in pleasure as he stood up from his seat and grabbed her hands. "I'll be more happy to fill your bottle with my special liquids!" Then they dashed out of the cornerclub.
Suddenly, Aphia Veloth asked her husband who is sitting beside her. "If you don't mind, maybe we can spend some time together, alone?"
"Well woman, say no more! I'll be pleased to take a break from my mining duties just so I make you 'mine'." Crescius Caerellius stood up and to everybody's surprise, lifted Aphia up bridal style and walked to his home with his wife in his arms.
"He's pretty strong for an old man. Must be all the mining." Glover commented as he downed a bottle of Flin.
Geldis just laughed as he said. "We'll be probably hearing the noises from every house with a couple in it for hours." Glover laughed in agreement.
"Remind me to set up a wedding for my daughter and Veleth after they're done making out in one of your rooms." Fethis just groaned out from his bottle of Sujamma.
Geldis just shot back. "Coming from the man who told me to spy on his daughter, you really did take her relationship with Veleth with a grain of salt."
Fethis just said in a defeated tone. "I'll deal with Veleth than Glover any day."
"Hey! I'm not that bad with the ladies!" Glover shouted in protest.
Geldis rolled his eyes as he gave more drinks to the other miners.
(Severin Manor)
The Dragonborn laid on the bed beside Frea. The woman having a content smile on her face while she is unconscious. The Dragonborn looked at her while reflecting on their consummation. He had to admit that Frea had plenty of stamina, almost equal to his and held out for three tries before she gave out.
He knocked Serana out in just one try.
Frea was a tough nut to crack but ultimately acquiesced to him as he enjoyed her screams.
"Oh, yes Dragonborn! I am yours! You are my lover! My mate! My god!"
"Damn right." He said in victory.
"Dragonborn, tell me this isn't one of Miraak's or Herma-Mora's nightmares. Please tell me that this is real..."
"It IS real Frea. And I will provide all the pleasure to you as my mate..."
Those were their words during their mating. Of course, he did bite her neck as a mark to symbolize that she is his.
He rolled to her side and put some of her stranded blonde hair to her ear as he admired her beautiful face...
When they finished, he and Frea lay down in a lover's arms content with their mating.
After they woke up, the Dragonborn wore his Daedric armor set while Frea wore the Deathbrand armor set. They went outside and the Dragonborn entered the Morvayn Manor to see Lleril greet him and his wife cheerfully. A winded Adril did the same while a dazed Cindiri greeted him too.
When they went out, the Dragonborn is surprised to see two familiar faces.
Delphine and Esbern.
He said with politeness. "I'm surprised you guys actually came here. Tharstan must've given you the letter, still I should ask Adril to ask you down for security purposes."
"He did actually." Delphine commented dryly. "Though I could smell the odor of sex around him."
"She told him that it is not of his business and he is a second away from ordering his guard to throw us to the sea. It's a good thing that your vampire friend pacified him with her words." Esbern added, Delphine glared at him but he ignored. "And this lovely woman is your wife I take it?"
"I am Frea of the Skaal and I am married to the man beside me. He has saved my people and I will be forever grateful to him. I am also dedicated to spend the rest of my years with him by my side."
"I am Delphine, acting grandmaster of the Blades and this is Esbern, our loremaster. On behalf of our service to the Dragonborn, we wish you a long and happy marriage to him. If possible, we'd like to include you as a member."
"I have to respectfully decline as I cannot leave my people for your group."
"That's a shame, we'll be leaving as we don't plan on staying long." Delphine said as she left for the Northern Maiden.
"May you two have good fortune and healthy children." Esbern blessed them and followed Delphine to the Northern Maiden.
Then a a female vampire showed herself and put down her hood slightly.
"Long time no see, Dragonborn." The woman revealed herself as Serana.
"Serana! I'm glad though you didn't need to, I was planning to go to Fort Dawnguard eventually." The Dragonborn said as he and Serana embraced making Frea who was standing beside him slightly jealous.
"When I saw the Blades members board the ship, I knew I had to take this opportunity." Serana explained before turning to Frea. "So that is your spouse now? I'm happy for you, I really am."
The Dragonborn introduced Frea to her then Serana said seriously. "You better treat my friend well. If I hear you break his heart, I'll go Vampire Lord on you." She all but threatened.
Frea wasn't intimidated in the slightest but she asked. "What's a Vampire Lord?"
The Dragonborn just shook his head and replied. "You don't want to know."
Serana shrugged and extended a hand to Frea. "Take care of my friend. It's too late for me but not for him. He's seen enough for just one life, even with me beside him."
Frea took it and shook it. "I shall on my honor as one of the Skaal."
Serana turned to the Dragonborn and said. "Take care of yourselves now and now that if you need anything, only ask and I'll help."
The Dragonborn replied. "We'll see you if we can. Thanks for taking the trouble in coming here."
"You're welcome." Serana smiled and leaned slightly closer to him. "Of course, if you want a little extra 'fun time'...I'll be happy to give you a threesome." She said teasingly.
"Serana..." The Dragonborn said in a warning tone since Frea was here and listening.
"Not happening." Frea said flatly while the Dragonborn just laughed behind his helmet.
"Anyways, I better get going before the Northern Maiden sets sail back to Skyrim. See you around." Serana put on her hood and left for the docks.
A few days, Frea and the Dragonborn spend time sitting next to each other when they heard the distinctive roar of a dragon and saw its figure finally landing on top above Wulf's home.
It is Paarthurnax and the Dragonborn stood up with Frea following him. The man ordered Fanari to tell the Skaal to stand down.
"Dovahkiin, I have received news from Arngeir that you have a matrimonial relationship with another of your species.." Paarthurnax said, looking down at the Dragonborn.
"Yes. Tharstan managed to reach High Hrothgar or you be here. This here's Frea, my spouse."
With a gentle nudge and a reassurance there, she respectfully addressed the old dragon. "By my husband's grace, I bid you welcome elder."
"Your use of your tongue is endearing. And given that you didn't attack me due to my form and calling me elder means you recognize me." Paarthurnax mused, looking at the blonde woman.
Frea looked at the Dragonborn for a bit then to Paarthurnax. "The Dragonborn spoke of you with fondness. He said that you were essential in helping him defeat this Alduin."
"Indeed. He sought my aid in attaining the Dragonrend shout. Although I did not give it to him directly, I advised him to acquire the means to learn it. Although he was my brother, his death was necessary as the power Alduin possessed made him arrogant." Paarthurnax mused again though there is a hint of sorrow in his voice.
"Although I do not deal with your kind very often, I notice signs of aging on you elder. You must have lived for a very long time probably before my husband's time." Frea commented respectfully.
"It is true. While the Greybeards see me as old and wise, I am very old. As for your husband, I am aware of his destiny as Dragonborn and he has fulfilled it. But you have let me indulged my weakness for speech craft and thus I shall give you, as you mortals would say, a wedding present." Paarthurnax said, flying off the house and then gently landing in the middle of the village.
Paarthurnax looked at the Dragonborn first and said. "I shall present you the gift of flight and seeing the world below as a Dovah can. I will also give your spouse the same courtesy as she has shown politeness and respect to me while the rest of her kind would've shot me with arrows."
The Dragonborn said amusingly. "First time you let someone ride on you, let alone leave your home in the Throat of the World."
"Indeed." Paarthurnax replied. "Are you ready to see the world in the eyes of a Dovah?" When Frea nodded unhesitatingly, he warned. "Be warned, your envy of the dov will increase when we take to the skies. Let your mind be free, relax and enjoy this opportunity to see the skies of Keizzal."
The Dragonborn and Frea ride on Paarthurnax as he lifted off the ground and flew away from the village. Paarthurnax took them to Searing's Watch where he greeted a Serpentine Dragon residing there with his dragon tongue.
Then he took them to Raven Rock as they flew around it, making no notion of attacking the colony. Finally, he flew leisurely back to Skyrim.
The Dragonborn let himself go as he took off his helmet and held it on his hands as they enjoyed this gift from Paarthurnax. He caught sight of Skyrim once more and strained his eyes at seeing all the holds. He felt glad and thankful to Paarthurnax for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Frea for her part enjoyed this trip while it lasted as she reflected on several events. He saved Solstheim and the Skaal. He aided them and is finally married to her. She felt her life fulfilled and never felt more alive than ever just to be with him and riding Paarthurnax. Since the death of her father, she felt complete and she finally made peace that Storn is gone as her wound regarding that event is healed.
She lowered her left to rub Paarthurnax's scales slightly and then she hugged the Dragonborn from behind as she smiled.
"I'm at peace, Dragonborn. Thank you granting me peace and comfort, I love you."
"And I will continue to do so for the rest of our days, Frea. I love you too."
Paarthurnax continued flying around Skyrim with Frea and the Dragonborn on top of him.
