It had been quite a few weeks since Castiel had gave himself the much needed relief he had needed to sleep. and everything had went back to it's normal routine. He decided to just concentrate on the day to day of his job as well as the cooking and cleaning around the house. Dean hadn't made a move or even mentioned anything since their date that would make Cas think that it had been anything more than a show for their friends. He decided quickly that he would push it to that back of his mind and leave it there until he needed it.
It was really enough for him to feel needed and to go to work, to do the things he felt needed to be done. He liked the thought that he was making Dean's life easier because he felt that Dean deserved something normal in his life… at least until he got back to his real one.
Cas had, in fact, just gotten off work and stopped by the supermarket to pick up a few things for dinner. He was just getting home and gathering everything he would need on the counter when the doorbell rang. He glanced at the clock before starting for the door. No one in the neighborhood was usually even home at the time so he was kind of confused until he looked through the peephole.
He cringed as he saw Julie standing at the other side of the door. The woman made his skin crawl. He put his forehead against the door, sighed loudly, and eventually decided that he should just open the door and get it over with. It was against his better judgement but she would just keep trying all day until he gave it. He had obviously been spotted coming home.
He opened the door with caution, blocking the opening with his body.
"Hello, Julie." He croaked, unenthusiastically, "Can I help you?"
"Oh, Castiel! I do hope that you can." She said, putting on her very best Judy Garland voice, "I was going to make Roger some lemonade for when he gets home from work. I'm rather afraid I'm all out of sugar. Is there anyway I can borrow a cup?"
Castel mentally rolled his eyes. Really? Was she really trying this?
He sighed and opened the door to let her in. He really just wanted to be rid of her as quickly as he could.
"Come in. I'll get you a cup. I have to be quick about it. I need to start dinner for Dean." He stressed Dean's name on his lips as if to remind her that he was very much taken.
"I understand." She said, following him into the kitchen, rolling her hips as she walked.
Castiel grabbed a small, disposable tupperware bowl and filled it with sugar. He handed it to her quickly and started to head back towards the front door when she sat down at one of his barstools and started fiddling with the lid of the tupperware.
"So what are you making for dinner?" She said, turning to face him.
"Pan-Seared Scallops and Linguine." His voice monotone. "But I really have to be…"
"Mmmm." Julie closed her eyes and breathed, "That sounds delicious."
She let out a long sigh and ran a hand down her thigh. Castiel glanced down to where her hand had stopped. That was obviously her plan, just as he glanced down she opened her legs. It was then he realized that she was wearing a skirt but nothing underneath.
He backed up in shock, his brain going into emergency panic mode.
"Uh. Um. Well… I… um. Julie." He just couldn't think of anything to say to get out of the situation.
"See anything you like?" Julie said. She pushed herself to a standing position.
"N-not particularly." Castiel said inching his way towards the kitchen door.
"You sure about that, handsome?" She smiled and took a step towards him.
She was about to take another step towards him just they heard the front door open and close. Julie's eyes went wide in surprise as she grabbed the sugar off of the counter and walked out of the kitchen and towards the front door. She passed by a very confused Dean and out of the house.
Dean came into the kitchen to find Cas still flattened against the wall.
"What happened?" Dean said, looking from Cas and to the ingredients.
"She came on to me again." Cas said, walking away from the wall and back over to start on the dinner.
"What the hell do you mean that she came on to you? Again?" He squinted his eyes and shook his head in disbelief.
"I told you that she hits on me a lot. It just so happens that she's upped the ante this time, Dean." Cas opened up a few things and started working his magic,
He didn't want to make a big deal out of what happened but he had to admit that it did freak him out a little bit.
"I don't understand what she think she's doing." Dean said, his nostrils flaring as he tried to keep calm, "She knows we're married."
"Yes, Dean." Cas said, his voice low as he worked.
"Well then she needs to leave you alone. She knows you're mine."
Castiel stopped for a second before smiling and turning on the stove.
Dean realized what he said a second too late and hoped that maybe Cas didn't hear him or wouldn't mind.
"So, you gonna make us something good?" Dean said, trying to change the subject quickly while also trying to take his mind off of things.
"I believe you will like what I'm making, yes." Castiel nodded.
"I usually do." Dean said with a chuckle, "You mind if I sit in the living room while you finish that? My back's kinda hurtin' me tonight."
"Of course not, Dean. You need to rest."
Dean retreated to the warm comfort of the living room like he had been every night since the carnival. Cas made him confused and Dean wasn't sure whether he liked being confused yet or not. But he did know he hadn't felt this safe in a long time.
He sighed and stretched out before flipping on the television. He tried to concentrate on the channels but all he could think was how angry he was that the neighbor chick was hitting on his angel.
Back in the real world Bobby and Sam had just gotten back from dismantling a vampire nest and settled in for a bit of light reading for their next case.
"Do you ever think they're coming back, Sam?" Bobby said, pouring himself a glass of nondescript amber liquid.
"I'm sure they will soon. It hasn't been that long and Dean is a hard nut to crack. They'll be fine, Bobby. Stop worrying."
Bobby mumbled something under his breath and went back to reading.
Sam chuckled under his breath.
"What?" The older man asked.
"Come on, Bobby." Sam smiled up at him and shook his head. "I can't be the only one tired of seeing those two...moon over each other every time the other looks away."
"You're not, boy." Bobby admitted with a sigh, "You sure ain't."
