If my comment did anything, It made the woman smile.
"Sandra, now that I have made friends with your girlfriend, mind if I take her on an official tour of my quarry?" I mused towards my foreman, who's eyes went wide at my request.
"In all honesty boss, we got a dinner reservation to catch, and I'd hate to be late." Her meek smile nearly made me let them get on with their date, but I knew one thing she seemingly forgot. Something that made a sly smile spread on my face.
"I'll assume she came in an airship?" watching the realisation hit her, I really struggled to keep a straight face in front of her significant other."You have a photo of the place?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
All the while Litura followed the conversation with a perplexed look on their face, not quite understanding where I was going with this. Watching my foreman's white rabbit ears droop down as she pulled out her scroll to confirm she had what I needed, I couldn't help but crack a smile. I stood from behind my desk and walked to stand between the couple and my team, still goofing off in the corner of my office.
"Sandra, care to keep my friends entertained while I take my SDC representative on an official guided tour of the JCQ quarry?" The clearly flustered Faunus could only nod as I directed for the aforementioned woman to follow me.
The tour started at the very bottom of the quarry and we worked our way up to the highest room in the quarry, just before the elevator out. Litura was silent all the way through just listening to me explaining my facilities, having no doubt heard the exact same speech from my foreman but I am nothing if not thorough.
However, I knew that this would be a new experience for her. "I know for a fact that Sandra would not have shown you this room, as I have instructed no one should enter unless absolutely necessary." I could see the curiosity in her eyes, not that I doubted my foreman wasn't a woman of her word.
"It looks like the dorms, but from what I've been told the workers don't live onsight." The raven-haired woman said in thought, clearly trying to decipher the purpose of this room.
With a slight smile, I pushed open the door. I could hear her gasp as the largely empty room was revealed to her, the low light in the room coming of off the multiple portals lining the walls. "This is my doing, I use my semblance to make a portal to each and every worker's home so they can come and go daily," I explained to the slack-jawed woman, too mesmerized by the turquoise pools to formulate any questions. "Back when my parents ran the quarry we had a system where the workers would spend a week here and a week home, then we discovered my semblance and developed this system. " I could feel the tears prick at my eyes as I thought back to the days before the betrayal."It's more efficient and keeps morale up."
Having finally regained her senses, Litura managed to squeeze out a question as she approached the portal with Sandra's name above it."How does it work?'
"It's quite simple really. My worker's each bring me a recent photo of a space they want their portal and I open it for them, as long as I don't step through them they won't close."
"What about when you return to Beacon?"
"Usually when I get too far from them they dissipate, but we discovered they can keep themselves open when we feed them with some dust."
"So if I step through this portal, I'll be at Sandy's house?"
I was slightly caught off guard by the nickname, but I answered nevertheless. "Right on her front doorstep if I remember correctly."
"Is this why you asked her if she had a picture of where we are going?"
"Yep, you'll be there a lot sooner than expected."
Litura continued to inspect the portal, occasionally sticking her hand through or checking the pile of dust at its base. After a few more minutes she stood and turned to me, a slight look of bashfulness scrawled upon her face.
"Could I ask you to create one of these for me, It would get the boss off my back for how much I'm claiming in airship fees." her gloved hands were intertwined and her eyes downcast, while I wouldn't admit it out loud I could see why Sandra fell for this woman.
"Sure, just send me a picture of an area you want the portal in when you get back home and I'll get you sorted." Her bashful demeanour instantly lifted as I was suddenly drowned in a torrent of 'Thank you's'. She turned to leave, ready to rejoin her girlfriend to continue their date. I caught her sleave before she could leave.
"Before you go, can I ask you something... personal?" I could feel the hesitation in my voice.
The raven-haired girl looked at me with a look of curiosity, clearly not expecting the question.
"Uhm... sure?" Her voice shares my hesitation, with just a slight hint of curiosity gleaming in her eye.
"B-between you and Sandra, who asked first?" I silently cursed myself for stuttering. Why am I so embarrassed?
"Sandra asked first, Why?" Litura crooked her head sideways, wondering where I was going with this.
"H-h-how did she do It?" I could see the realization click behind her eyes, the smallest of smirks tugging at the corner of her lips.
She raised a gloved finger to the corner of her mouth, resting her elbow in her other hand as she thought back on the memory. "I mean, I could show you-" Her smirk grew into a full-blown smile as she saw my blush. "-but first tell me who is the lucky girl that caught your eye."
I could barely control my blush at this point, hiding my beat red face behind cold starscapes, hoping they could just swallow me whole."How did you know-"
"It was a girl?' she completed my sentence for me, I could only nod in reply."Why else would be asking me? I'm sure if it was a guy you were crushing on you'd ask anyone else, but no not only is this a girl but a girl you all know, possibly in your team?"
"NO!..no she is not in my team, but they know her well." I could only watch as she quirked up an eyebrow, asking for more information. "She is the first person who I went to after the accident, I lived with her for about a month before I travelled to the academy. We met again there and became close friends." I watched as she parsed the information, wondering how to continue.
"When did you realize you wanted to be more than friends?" The question knocked the wind out of me.
"I-I haven't really thought about it, but if I had to I'd say probably after she helped me out of a panic attack on our first day, that is when I realised I started feeling differently about her but putting a name to the feelings only came recently." I didn't know what to do with my hands, constantly twirling my starscapes in an attempt to calm myself down.
"And what information do you hope to get out of me. Do you want to ask her out or are you hoping she will ask you out?" Her calm demeanour made me feel nervous for her part.
"We do have a dance coming up at the Acadamy soon, I am kind of hoping she'll ask me, but I may have to take matters in my own hands soon-" I tried to calm myself with a deep breath, only for the hitching of my breath increasing my nerves. "-So I am hoping that hearing how someone else was asked would help me get a grip on how to do it myself."
"I guess that makes sense-" she stepped forward while taking off one of her gloves. "-before I show you what you want to see, hear this, asking someone out is about confidence, just be yourself and more likely than not you'll be successful." She held her hand out to me. "If you still want to see my memory, take my hand, but if you don't mind I'd like to get back to my dinner date.
