"Looks like the fire has been subdued…" Hanami noticed while briefly standing at the infirmary's patio. The smoke had visibly decreased however it had been replaced with the stench of burned matter and a light wave of ash was spreading in the morning air.

She turned to go inside but there was Tobirama who had emerged in front of her.

"Get your supplies ready, you are coming with me to the battlefield" he announced.

"Wha…" she answered him startled. A healer in the front lines? How? That hadn't been done before. "Tobirama are you serious?" was her only reaction.

"No time for questions Hanami. We need a healer and until Hashirama is done with Madara there will be no time to treat the wounded. I will not ask again. Get. Your. Supplies. Now!"

"Nii-sama is back!" said Hanami surprised. That was bound to turn the tides. She ran inside and started collecting in a wooden box everything she needed.

"How many wounded are there?" Hanami turned to Tobirama.

"Plenty." her cousin said "that is why we are bringing medics into the battlefield instead of the wounded here. There is simply no time"

The infirmary's tenants started murmuring incoherently from the conversation they had just witnessed.

"Tobirama what are you doing here? What is going on? TOBIRAMA" Touka's voice resounded from the corner of the room "don't you dare take her into the fray you hear me? She is not a combatant" she pleaded.

"Touka is right, Tobirama" an older medic shouted "the girl is young; she has not seen war. Bring along someone more experienced!"

"These were the instructions and I will not participate in further babbling. She is a medical nin and she became one at her own volition no less" said Tobirama pointedly as Hanami was focused on gathering everything she needed, despite the heated conversation surrounding her "we shall discuss it later".

"Ready" she turned to her cousin.

Tobirama looked at her with a pleased look. She had not lost any time in pointless conversation. He really appreciated that.

"Cousin" he said placing his hand on her shoulder "I will teleport us to the battlefield. This will be in an instant. A lot will be happening, but whatever you see or hear, your focus will be tending to the wounded. We will be taking care of the rest."

Hanami looked at him determined.

"Got it" was her only reply.

The last thing she saw was her sister's concerned look and the next was an ashy terrain with countless bodies lying on it. The smell of smoke and burning was intense and the battle cries were piercing her ears. At the back she saw them. Her Nii-sama clashing with Uchiha Madara. One had summoned a wooden statue and the other had a blue giant engulfing him. Both men were intent on exchanging blows. Hanami couldn't help but see that those two were on a different level than all the others.

That was the extent of the power of the man that had cornered her the other day. For him, going against her must have been child's play.

"I will be going then" Tobirama announced "do your job and don't worry about the rest. Leave it to us."

"Yes." said Hanami and just like that she leaned in front of her first patient, a boy about her age. In his faded consciousness, the boy was surprised to see her on top of him treating him "…Hanami-chan…what are you doing here Hanami chan…"

"Please retain your energy and remain calm" she gave him a spirited smile while healing his wounds.

Izuna had just killed a little boy that had attacked him when he saw Tobirama appear in front of him again.

"Playing games, are we" he was irritated with his opponent's gimmicks.

"Just running some errands" answered Tobirama and just like that they resumed their fight.

Hanami was shocked at the number of wounded she had been called to heal. One after the other she was treating her fellow clansmen. She had not seen such a catastrophe in a long time and just now had she realized why Tobirama had summoned her directly at the battlefield. If there were not any medics present, some of those people were goners.

Stopping the bleeding, suturing wounds, resuscitation of fading soldiers, healing burn wounds she was doing it all. Tobirama had told her to not pay attention to her surroundings and she decided to put her trust in her dear cousins, not being concerned with impeding attacks. Her clothes and face were now stained with blood and the surrounding ash had started to sit on her body, face and hair. This was far from what she had been intended to do, yet exactly why she had chosen to be a medic.

The Uchiha side had started to take notice of a girl moving stealthily amongst the fallen Senju men. They did not however make any moves against her, being too preoccupied fighting their enemy. How could a little girl turn the battle tides after all?

"Are you that desperate?" Izuna said to his opponent "bringing a healer here…looks like our plan was successful!"

Tobirama did not say a word and continued attacking. What started happening after that though was abysmal. A lot of injured Senju men had started getting up, men who had been left unconscious or incapacitated. As if the girl's hand were doing some kind of magic and she was governing who would stay and who would go into the afterlife.

Izuna noticed a comrade staring at Hanami, full of awe and suspicion.

"She has to go down" said the Uchiha and dashed towards the healer much to Izuna's surprise and Tobirama's shock. Hanami raised her head towards the dashing soldier but before she could have any reaction, a thick wave of trees blocked the man from reaching her. She gave a smile. Hashirama had sensed her with his newly acquired Sage mode. Her cousins really did have her back.

Madara noticed the scene. Hashirama while blocking his attack, had just summoned a big wave of trees to the east.

"If you continue dividing your attention, you will get killed" said Madara enforcing his Susanoo armor.

"You are not the only one who wants to protect their kin, Madara" Hashirama answered and continued fighting in the same manner.

Madara turned his head to make sense of what was drawing Hashirama's attention, only to see a familiar face below in the distance. That Senju girl! She was practicing medical ninjutsu on her wounded clansmen who were getting up as if they had risen from the dead. He saw that she was emitting chakra from her palms which he surmised had healing properties, seeing that some of the men's wounds were closing rapidly. The Senju were very attuned with medical techniques but he had not witnessed such an effective medical jutsu in his lifetime.

The medic's appearance was far from the aethereal figure he had encountered at the river the previous day. Her face was dirtied from the discharge and the ashes much like her clothes. Her white hair, which had been braided back and secured with a bandana, was dipped in mud and blood, hiding its true color. Nonetheless she was persistent and focused, not letting a second pass without tending to someone.

Madara was annoyed. The girl had not only managed to cut his walk short and invade his thoughts and desires, she had now found her way into the only place Madara felt at peace…the battlefront. He further saw the Uchiha being disgruntled making attempts at attacking her only to be rebuffed by the enemy with considerable force no less. Furthermore, the protective wall Hashirama had created was acting up, like a live fortress attacking any intruder. He looked back at Hashirama who was smiling.

"Madara, what good is power when you can't even protect the ones you love?" he said giving him a meaning look.

"Then I suppose she will go down first!" he exclaimed and started weaving signs but this time, targeting the woods that had been summoned to protect Hanami. "I will end that bitch once and for all" he thought and propelled himself towards the fire he had created, completely ignoring Hashirama.

He landed amidst the fire and smoke from the burning trees preparing for a killing blow, only to see her, completely focused on healing, paying no attention to the blazing inferno that he had just created. She persisted on treating wounded soldiers, oblivious to any attackers and wounded Uchiha ninja. Madara mused at how she could have easily finished off any injured or dying Uchiha lying on the ground, but she had been plainly ignoring them. The Senju girl's only purpose seemed to be healing her wounded teammates. Nothing more and nothing less. Being frustrated with her complete disregard for her surroundings, he decided to pause for a little and break the mutual silence

"Didn't think I would see you here Senju woman" he decided to say to check her reaction. He had been captivated by her behavior but did not have a clue as to why

"Didn't think so either" Hanami replied dismissively.

Madara's frowned, with his red eyes in full display. The Senju woman was not looking at him, moving from patient to patient. His anger intensified and he wondered why he was even chatting up to her.

"Well, it doesn't matter anymore, Senju" raising his scythe at the bashful woman.

"Thought you would be happy Hashirama Nii-sama's here, no?" Hanami said, still without batting an eye.

"There were some disturbances, but they will soon be taken care of" he said preparing to attack.

Hanami had already moved to the next person during their little altercation. As if Madara had been just a prop at the background the whole time. Even though he had taken the time to talk to her. Not once had he someone treat him that way, especially in situations like these.

"I would not be paying attention here if I were you" said Hanami in her characteristic detached manner. As Madara threw his scythe towards the healer, a thick wooden block appeared from the ground, effectively averting the weapon. Only then did Madara see the girl's heart shaped lips curving upwards lips forming a light smile but her eyes still focused on her comrade's battered body.

Hashirama was right behind him, ready for battle.

"You are one perceptive fella!" said Hashirama playfully, raising his pointer finger upwards "but I will be your opponent, sorry"

"Either way's going to work" Madara smiled. They way those two battled was so destructive, that the white haired woman would be buried in rubble in no time. He would make sure of that.

"Come then, Madara!" Hashirama shouted

"I'm coming Hashirama!" Madara screamed back

Just as they were about to attack each other, Hashirama's battle ready demanor was replaced by a look of shock and sorrow. Madara sensed the irregularity as well. The chakra signatures of two very familiar people were slowly fading. A soldier appeared next to Hanami, carrying a wounded Butsuma on his shoulder; only then did Madara see the girl break character. Seeing Butsuma's belly had been sliced open, her pupils constricted, and her lids widened. She immediately grabbed her supply bag and ran towards the wounded clan leader.

"What happened?" Hanami asked, "Lie him down now!" she commanded.

She swiftly brought a needle out of the supply box and connected it to a thread. Was she planning on tying his wound? Madara wondered. The Senju was goner what was she even thinking? Forget about that…his father! His chakra was very weak.

"He-He struck Tajima Uchiha!" the boy said in a trembling voice, "he impaled him through the heart as he struck him through the belly!"

"I see…" said Hanami quietly.

"Father!" Madara whispered, his gaze fixated on the scene unfolding in front of him

Hashirama was side eyeing the whole ordeal with a dejected look, still focused on Madara.

Hanami was already on top of her uncle's fading body, placing the intestines back and trying to stop the bloodflow with medical ninjutsu. The man had already lost a lot of blood.

Madara looked at his rival who was equally dispirited. He then saw the Senju girl sewing up the Senju leader determined as ever, surrounded by a pool of his blood.

"Let's cease fire…" Hashirama proposed and this time Madara complied.

He swiftly made his way towards his father who was lying on the ground, taking his last breaths. Izuna also followed shortly after. The two sons knelt above their dying father, with Izuna gently holding his head, trying to stop the bleeding. Soon enough many other clan members rushed into the scene.

"Madara…Izuna…" he looked at his two remaining sons "take care of the *cough* clan…it is time I reunited with your mother…*cough*… brothers…*cough*" and just like that he passed away.

Touka was baffled to see Hanami appearing in front of her with their uncle in her hands and Tobirama. She was as if she had stepped out of the gates of hell.

"I won't let you die! I won't" she was yelling desperately as she was trying to heal the wounds.

Butsuma had started to regain consciousness, looking at his niece giving it her all. Another two healers rushed to his side trying to perform the last bits of surgery.

"He has lost too much blood!" Hanami started saying to the other two women.

"…bring me my sons…" Butsuma said under his breath.

Tobirama rushed to his father's side and shortly after Hashirama appeared from the infirmary's entrance.

"…dear niece…it is too late…thank you…" Hanami knew…even though the wound had been closed, the blood loss had been too great. With a pained expression, she withdrew her hands from her uncle's torso.

"Hashirama…you have always been different…such a gentle boy…but you have also become strong…use that strength to lead the clan from now on. Tobirama…help your brother make the right choices…you had always been a pillar for this family…and tell your mother…not to hurry to meet me on the other side."

Hanami sat back…and watched as her two cousins bid farewell to their departing father.

Butsuma Senju died, as if he were drifting peacefully into a deep night's sleep.

**Author's Comments**

Hope you enjoyed Hanami's second interaction with Madara.

Some things to take note of. In my mind, the Senju were very advanced in medicine employing medical ninjutsu regularly therefore having a better grasp of medicine in general. That is why the Uchiha find the whole thing strange, because their healing techniques are not on par and they prefer more traditional methods of treating patients. It is not that they do not have any medical techniques up their sleeve, it is just that it is not that advanced. I do not want readers to misinterpret Hanami as some type of Naruto-Sage of Six Paths-Jesus healer that brings people back from the dead but rather someone who has a good grasp of Senju healing techniques (fast healing of stabs, burns, etc) that allows people to return to fighting. Since medical nin are not an every day occurence, to the Uchiha that seems pretty strange and borderline creepy, seeing a girl just making people get back up on their feet (aka the soldier that tries to kill her). It has been mentioned that Tsunade was the first to advocate for medical nin to be part of a platoon (years later), that is why it is strange for everyone that they brought Hanami alongside on the battlefield (Izuna even deems it as 'desparate'). Traditionally, first a battle would occur and after that the nurses and doctors would come along to treat the wounded or the able bodied would carry the wounded along to be treated. I imagine something like that would be happening in the Narutoverse as well, until Tsunade came along.

Thanks for reading another chapter and many thanks my new followers and people who write reviews and favorite the story, it is very encouraging 3
