Hey guys! Welcome to my story for a new OC. This is one of my favourites I've created and I want to share his arc with y'all so that we can see a true rags to hero rather than rags to riches. Please leave a review and comment so I can see if I need to make fixes and I just want to see all of your feedback. Enjoy, as I introduce you to Harley Jakobson, the Hero from the Alley.

Location: Manhattan, New York

Time: 2332 (11:32 PM)

The rain rapped on the wooden boards that constituted the roof, water dropping to the floor through holes and cracks in the panels. All that sat in this room was a ripped blanket, a weak fire lantern, and a man in a corner, dressed in a ragged set of sweats, rocking back and forth, trying to sleep.

"Please come back. Please come back to me…" the man said, desperation and fear clear in his voice.

Creak. Bam!

The man jumps and goes to check the door he had set up, his breathing ragged and uncontrolled.

"Harl?" A female voice from behind him called.

His head snapped towards the sound, his eyes bloodshot from crying. "Felicia?"

Lightning strikes, lightening the room for a second to show the silhouette of the woman. Standing in the abandoned house with the man was a woman dressed in pitch black shiny leather, fur lined collar, snow white hair and a black mask. "Hey Harley…" She takes off her mask and smiles, the now named Harley runs to her, hugging tightly. "God, it had been so long, I thought I'd lost you."

Felicia puts her arms around him and sighs. "I'm sorry, I had work to do. I should have sent a letter to warn you."

"To where? Homeless avenue, down Steven's street, on the left of that Denny's that sells really over priced tilapia?" Harley remarks, causing both of them to chuckle. "Here, brought you some food." She holds out a white paper bag, the smell being the best thing he'd been around the past month.

He takes it weakly, smiling, motioning to his small camp "Join me for a few minutes?" She nods. "Lead the way, Sir Jakobson." She teased, knowing he gets flustered when she calls him 'Sir'.

The two sit down, Harley digging into his burger and fries.

"So, how was the last shelter?" Felicia thought it best if she started, just to break the silence.

"It was alright, but you know, the beds were too comfy and the people were way too nice." He chuckles, eating his last fry, feeling a scowl from Felicia. "There were people who needed to be there more than I did Felicia. I chose to leave."

All she does is scoff in disbelief. "You always do this. You need to think about yourself for once, not always for others."

"I can't do that. They've probably been on the street longer than I have, they need those resources. It wouldn't feel right…" He says, rolling up the wrappers and putting them back into the bag. "What about you? What luck has life had for you recently?"

She just smiles, shaking her head. "Life's always exciting when Spider-Man is chasing you around. But it's not always a bad thing, he does a favour for me, I help him in a pinch." Harley's eyes light up when she mentions Spider-Man, but his excitement dies down when he sees her put her mask back on.

"This will probably be the last time you see me for a while Harley." Felicia turns away as she says this.

"What, why?" He starts to panic. "Was it something I did?"

Felicia feels her throat get tight, a knot curls in her stomach, and tears jerk at the corners of her eyes. "No, it could never be you. It's some personal business I have to take care off." She kneels down with her eyes closed and kisses his cheek, dashing back into the thundering night.

"Felicia!" He starts to run after her into the rain, soaking his clothes, washing the dirt and grime from his face. "Come back…"

The next day…

Harley is walking down the street, clothes still damp from the previous night. Christmas lights and carols all around him, he can't help but feel his spirits lift just a bit, but his mind is still swirling over Felicia.

'Where did you go? You never hid anything from me before, even after I found out who you were…' he stayed inside his head, only after hearing…

"AAAAAAAH!" A woman let out a high-pitched scream from an alley, causing Harley to snap out of his daze, running towards it.

After about a minute of sprinting as fast as possible towards the sound, he attempts to catch his breath before seeing a man with red inky skin, eyes a large white with tentacles reaching from his arms towards a woman back pedaling into a corner.

"Come my dear, I can help you rejoin your brother. His brain was so delicious!" A long forked tongue lashing out of the man's mouth. "Help me, please!" The woman yells to Harley, who tries to move but feels a blade run through his leg.

"Oh don't worry, you'll be next, you disgusting piece of trash!" The creature hisses out.

From the corner behind Harley, a small black ooze watches, observing the action. 'Carnage, no, not again…' The glob starts to make its way towards Harley, but keeps its presence hidden.

"Now where were we?" Carnage continues towards the woman, his hands now morphed into claws, ready to strike.

All Harley could do was watch, knowing he'd die if he got in the way.

He shook his head in defiance of that thought, gritting his teeth. 'No, every life is worth it, especially when you have the ability to save them. Spider-Man wouldn't give up, neither will I!'

"Aaaaaaaaah!" Harley yells in defiance of the pain, the doubt, the fear that he held in his heart, running between Carnage and the woman…

Shlikt

Carnage's claws stab through Harley's chest, blood seeping through the wounds onto the woman behind him. "You idiot! You'd waste your own life for this woman's?" THe murderer says, bringing his fresh victim close to his face. Harley coughs up some blood before nodding. "Because that's what heroes do…" Carnage sneers, tosses Harley to the side, his body collapsing into a pile.

That black ooze crawls towards him, touching his hand. 'You want to save the people around you?' Harley looks at it, his head weakly nodding. The ooze crawls more on him, soon spreading over his body. 'Then be my partner, and we can do that together.' All Harley can do is think in his head. 'Yes, let me help them. I'll join you.' Soon, the goop spreads over his entire body, enveloping him in warmth like he hadn't felt in years.

Carnage turns around, that familiar tingle of one of his kind near him resonating in his head. "No, it can't be. You aren't supposed to be here!" Carnage turns towards the one motionless Harley, sprinting towards him.

The suit now fully envelops him, a familiar white spider forming on his back and chest, a tentacle shoots from his shoulder, sending Carnage flying into one of the nearby walls.

"You shouldn't exist Carnage." Harley's voice emanates from beneath a black and white mask, very reminiscent of Spider-Man's mask. He stands, his body healed, and the suit forming that of Agent Venom's old costume. "Leave the woman alone, and I promise not to pound you to a pulp." the voice of a completely different creature now speaking.

Carnage stands, his hands turning to axes. "You don't know what you've joined with kid." He starts to charge Harley, who jumps over him, kicking him in the back and landing.

'What is this strength?' Harley thinks, looking at his hand, clenching them with a grin. 'This is what a team is like Harley. And I will teach you more later, but for now, let's take down this villain!' The other voice says, Harley nodding in agreement. "Let's go partner." He says, aiming for the wall and starts to swing using black webbing, grabbing Carnage by the neck and dropping him from 3 stories up, cratering the ground a bit, landing right above him. "Last chance Carnage, leave here, and never let me catch you again."

Carnage responds by sweeping the legs out from underneath Harley, swinging away from the scene, yelling back "We'll see each other again Venom!"

The black suit recedes away, leaving Harley in his ragged sweats looking around, amazed at his non-existent wounds. "This is going to take some time to get used to." Harley says. 'And I'll help, but for now, go check the woman.' The voice says, Harley now running to the woman, offering her his hand. "Are you alright ma'am?" Harley asks, the woman backing up from him.

"Y-you're just like the other one. Stay away from me!" She scrambles up and runs away from Harley, a look of confusion on his face. "But I saved her, why is she so afraid of me?"

'That's not your fault Harley, most people are scared of the gifts I give people because I used to be a villain.' The voice says, shame in his voice.

Harley starts walking down the road back to the warehouse, still talking to the voice. "Carnage called you Venom, is that true?"

A moment of silence.

'Yes, the name given to me is Venom, the symbiote.'

All Harley can do is smile, then he starts to laugh, confusing Venom. 'What's so funny?' "It's just that, I could tell you thought I'd hate you when you told me that. But people deserve second chances, no matter what."

Harley looks to the sky. "I have a friend who went through a rough patch like that, but I helped her out of it by forcing her to realize she can do so much good. And we will too, partner." Harley says, a warm laugh coming from Venom. "Yes we will."

As Harley makes his way back to the warehouse, nearly 10 at night, he feels a tingle in his head, warning him about something.

"Venom."

'On it.'

The suit returns around his body, turning to face the potential threat, to see a man he never thought he'd see in person.

"Venom, no long time no see."

Standing before the new Venom was Harley's hero, the man who gave him the will to never give up.

"Spider-Man?"

I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter of The Hero of the Alley! Harley has a long way to go, especially with Venom as a partner. Please leave a comment and review so that I can see what you love and hate, and what I do well and poorly. Be back soon.
