Captain Avery stood, pointing a gun at the Doctor standing on the edge of the plank. "If you're lucky you'll drown before the sharks can take a bite," Avery said.

"If this is just because I'm a captain too, you shouldn't feel threatened. Your ship is much bigger than mine. And I don't have the cool boots. Or a hat, even."

Avery aimed his pistol. "Time to go."

"A big more laughter, guys?" the Doctor said, motioning with his hand.

They laughed at his demise.

His grin faded and he turned back to the plank. "All right. I'm going." He walked stiffly to the edge and stepped off. He walked onto the air. "Oh, dear, your plank appears to be faulty."

The pirates stared at him in shock, trying to figure out what was happening.

The Doctor paced on the air. "Where are the rest of the crew? This is a big ship. Big for five of you. I s'pose the rest of them are hiding someplace and they're going to jump out and shout 'boo'."

Avery aimed his gun furiously. "Walk off the plank!"

"I did! What more do you-"

Avery fired and the Doctor let himself drop out of the air. He tried to stop falling, but he couldn't in time. His feet fell into the water and he stood up on top of it. He jumped and flapped his arms, flying back up to the ship. Avery looked over the edge just as the Doctor flew up in front of his face.

"Boo!" the Doctor shouted, but his voice sounded like two.

Amy had jumped out and shouted at the same time, wearing a pirate outfit and holding the sword to Avery's neck. "Throw the gun down," she ordered.

Avery dropped the gun and Amy kicked it away.

"The rest of you, on your knees," Amy ordered.

"Amy? What are you doing?" the Doctor asked.

"Saving your life. Okay with that, are you?"

"I didn't need saving! Haven't you ever heard of Peter Pan?"

"What? What does that have to do with anything?"

"I'm Peter Pan! I'm a flying boy who never ages, steals little girls from their bedrooms at night, takes them to distant worlds, and gets attacked by pirates!"

"Put the sword down," Avery said nervously, "A sword could kill us all, girl."

"Yep, thanks. That is actually why I'm pointing it at you."

A pirate ran at Amy, wielding a wooden handle, surprising her and forcing her back from Avery. The Doctor flew down to help, but Avery pushed him back against the rigging.

Rory pulled out of Amy's grasp. "I have to touch her. Let me touch her," he said, walking toward the Siren as if in a trance.

Amy pushed past Rory and faced the Siren. "Sorry, but he is spoken for."

The Siren suddenly turned red and hissed viciously, sending Amy flying backwards. She landed hard on the deck.

"Amy!" The Doctor ran to Amy. "Everybody into the hold."

The pirates quickly headed to the hold, but Rory stood still, staring at the Siren.

"Rory!" the Doctor shouted.

Rory didn't listen. The Doctor made sure Amy was all right before he grabbed Rory.

"Hey!" Rory snapped.

The Doctor pulled Rory away and floated above the water that had gathered, while everyone else splashed through it into the hold.

"What is that thing?" Amy asked.

"The legend. The siren," Avery answered, "Many a merchant ship, laden with treasure has fallen prey to her. She's been hunting us ever since we were becalmed. Picking off the injured."

"Like a shark. A shark can smell blood," one of the pirates added.

"Okay. Just like a shark. In a dress. And singing. And green," the Doctor said, "A green singing shark in an evening gown."

"The ship is cursed," Avery said.

"Yeah right. 'Cursed' is big with humans," the Doctor began, "Means bad things are happening but you can't be bothered to find an explanation."

"She's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen," Rory said dreamily.

"Actually I think you'll find she isn't," Amy said angrily, "We have to leave. Right now."

"That thing of yours really is a ship?" Avery asked.

"Well, it's not propelled by the wind," the Doctor answered.

"Show me. Weigh anchor. Make it sail!" Avery ordered, pulling out a gun.

"And the gun's back," the Doctor said in annoyance, "You're big on the gun thing aren't you? Freud would say you're compensating. Have you ever met Freud? No? Comfy sofa."

"Leave the cursed one, Captain. The creature can have him," another pirate said.

"Yes, please," Rory agreed.

"We don't want the siren coming after us," Avery said.

One of the pirates cried out in fear and lifted his leg from the water. Something brown was attached to his leg.

"It's a leech!" Amy shouted.

"Everyone out of the water!" the Doctor shouted, helping Amy onto something dry.

Everyone climbed out of the water as fast as they could onto the many crates and barrels.

The pirate pulled the leech from his leg. "It's bitten me, I'm bleeding," he said fearfully. He looked at his hand in horror as the black spot appeared.

"She wants blood. Why does she want blood?" the Doctor questioned.

"What were you saying about leaving the cursed ones behind?" Amy said to the pirates.

"It's okay," the Doctor said, "We're safe down here. No 'curse' is getting through three solid inches of timber."

The Siren suddenly appeared behind him and sang her deadly tune.

"Ah. Hello again," the Doctor said, floating away from her.

Amy held Rory back, but the bitten pirate walked toward the Siren, as if in a trance.

"No! No! No!" Avery and the Doctor shouted.

The pirate touched the Siren's hand and vanished. His hat fell to the floor. Everyone rushed from the hold, the Doctor pushing Rory, the lost pirate's hat in hand.

The Doctor flipped a switch in one last effort to get the TARDIS under control. The TARDIS rocked.

"Argh! I've lost control of her, she's about to dematerialize we could end up anywhere!" the Doctor fretted.

"That sounds bad," Avery said.

"Yes, it is! Out! Now!" The Doctor flew and grabbed Avery and rushed out as the console sparked. "Abandon ship! ABANDON SHIP!" He flew out of the TARDIS, dragging Avery's feet on the ground, and flew as far away from the TARDIS as he could in the cramped space.

Avery struggled angrily. "Unhand me!" He jerked out of the Doctor's grasp.

The Doctor looked to see the TARDIS enveloped in a green light as it disappeared.

The Doctor stuffed the crown in a bag while Avery automatically reached for his pendant, realizing with horror he'd given it to his son.

"We must warn them," Avery said.

The Doctor flew off the ground and out the door, zooming to the magazine, where everyone else was hiding. Avery ran after him.

The Doctor ran into the door. "Amy! Open the door!" he shouted, "Open the door!" He heard them moving barrels.

Finally the door opened and he darted inside, grabbing the pendant off the boy. He breathed heavily on it, fogging the shiny surface. Amy and Rory stared at him in confusion. Avery ran in and the Doctor gave him a thumbs-up. Avery relaxed, but the Doctor flew out again. Avery ran after him again.

The Doctor grabbed a rifle as he flew and smashed out a window with the butt of the rifle. "We've got to destroy every reflection. Gold, silver, glass. She could spring from any of them." He smashed a mirror as he flew by. "Oh, yes, yes, I know I know. Very bad luck to break it. But look at it this way, there's a stroppy homicidal mermaid trying to kill us all."

Suddenly, the main yardarm swung around and knocked Rory off the side of the ship into the churning water.

"Rory! Rory!" Amy shouted, running to the side, "I can't see him. Doctor, I'm going in!"

"He's drowning. You go in after him you'll drown too," the Doctor said.

"Then you go after him!" Amy shouted desperately.

"Me?"

"Just do your flying thing and get him out!"

"I can't fly underwater! There's only one thing that can save him now."

"What are you talking about?"

"The Siren. The Siren, she wants him. We have to release her."
