Human Bludgers
The moment they flew in the air, Fred and George yelled in unison, "We're going to be the Bludgers!"
"You're what?" Percy screamed, but he was too late.
Fred and George roared as they soared straight towards Percy, who screamed as he flew in the opposite direction. Bill and Charlie burst into guffaws as Fred and George chased Percy through the air.
Getting ready for the Quidditch game, Charlie picked up his broom and walked towards the garden to meet his brothers. He found them all gathered in the shade of the apple tree on the edge of their garden. He called out, "You ready?"
"Yeah, we're just waiting for Fred and George," Bill said, waving him over.
Charlie walked over and leaned against the tree. "What are they up to now?"
"No idea," Percy replied, straightening his shirt. He squinted at the house and muttered, "Though… it can't be anything good."
"It's Fred and George we're talking about," Charlie said pointedly, rolling his eyes. He crossed his arms over his chest and tapped his foot rhythmically. "Where are they?"
Just then, Fred and George came sprinting out of the house, their brooms slung over their backs, with devious smiles on their faces. "We're here! Let's play!"
The three oldest siblings looked at the seven-year-old twins suspiciously, but when the twins didn't give them any hint as to what they had done, they shrugged it off for the time being and mounted their brooms.
"Hey, stop it! I'll fall off! Mum will be furious!" Percy yelled, looking over his shoulder at the twins, who simply grinned and continued to pursue him.
"Boys, back off — for now," Bill called out, flying towards them. "You two can be the Bludgers, but let's start the game first. Okay?"
"Okay!" the twins cried, excited to play the Bludgers.
Bill announced that he would play opposite Charlie and Percy, and the twins were allowed to go after anyone they wished — considering they were the Bludgers. As they didn't own a real Quaffle, they opted to use Ron's teddy bear instead.
The game started, and the three oldest Weasleys immediately realized that Fred and George had no survival skills at all. They weren't afraid of slamming into them, which allowed them to take dangerous risks.
When Bill tried to throw the teddy bear at the tree, which was their version of the hoop, Fred hollered as he slammed his broom's handle into Bill's ribs. Bill squawked loudly in pain and tumbled off his broom onto the soft grass underneath.
Quickly shaking the pain off, Bill climbed back onto his broom and flew after the 'Quaffle', which was now in Percy's hand. "Oh, no, you don't!"
Percy dodged both George and Bill as he clutched the toy to his chest, looking for a way to score points for his team. "Charlie!"
Charlie accidentally twisted his head to look at Percy, and Fred took the opportunity to kick him in the head. "Oh, Merlin's balls, George! What the fuck?"
"Haw!" Fred cried, grinning at Charlie. "You said two bad words! And I'm Fred!"
"You kicked my head! What did you expect me to do? Shower you with hugs and kisses?" Charlie yelled, rubbing his head and grimacing at the bump he could feel on his head.
"Sorry," Fred said, grinning at him. He flew off towards Bill, who quickly nosedived towards the ground to escape him.
Charlie massaged his head and raced towards Percy to help him with George. Percy threw the Quaffle at him, and he caught it easily. Without hesitation, Charlie hurled the teddy bear towards the tree and whooped as it slammed against the trunk.
"Five points to us!" Percy yelled proudly, and Charlie stuck his tongue out at Bill to mock him.
Bill glared at them as he picked up the Quaffle and readied himself to score the next goal. Before Bill could restart the game, Fred and George called out, "Wait! Let's make this more interesting!"
"What do you mean?" Percy asked suspiciously. This can't be good.
"If you fall off your broom, you're out — and if Bill falls off, Charlie and Percy will play against each other," Fred declared, and the boys decided to agree to the rule. It didn't seem like a bad idea to them.
But they soon learned they were wrong. With the new rule in place, Fred and George took full advantage of their lack of survival skills. They flew haphazardly around the garden, knocking into their brothers' brooms, beating them up as much as they could.
When George slammed the hilt of his broom into Percy's shoulder and knocked him off, Percy face-planted on the soft green grass and was extremely glad it was there to soften his fall. Without the grass in place, Percy knew he would have at the very least broken his jaw instead of only bruising it.
"You're out!" Fred yelled as he flew overhead, his target clear: Bill. Percy grumbled about being the first one out, but he walked over to the tree to watch the rest of the game.
Fred subtly allowed Bill to score a goal before he attacked him from all sides. When Fred headbutted Bill and tried to throw him off, Bill yelled in indignation, "Bloody hell! Your head's stronger than a Bludger!"
"Thanks!" Fred threw a swift kick at the end of Bill's broom and finally pushed him off. Bill groaned loudly as he plummeted to the grass, rolling over onto his front to diminish the pain in his shoulder.
"Do I win?" Charlie yelled as he dodged George's attacks.
"No, not until you survive our attacks!" Fred hollered, zooming towards Charlie.
His eyes widened with disbelief as the twins charged at him from both sides. "This isn't fair! It's two against one!"
"But you're older, aren't you?" George asked innocently, chasing after him at top speed. The wind whipped in his hair, and he grinned as Charlie sped away, ducking and diving in order to avoid them.
"That doesn't mean anything!" Charlie flew under the tree's branches, thinking the twins wouldn't follow him under it, but he was proven wrong instantly.
When Charlie whizzed under the thick branches, Fred tried to crash into his broom from behind. George flew over the treetop and jumped off mid-flight, attempting to land on his older brother.
Charlie screamed in terror but did his best to dodge them both. Bill and Percy whooped with delight at their stunts and began to cheer. "Go, Charlie! You can do it!"
"No, he can't!" Fred and George cried, their eyes narrowing in on Charlie's form. "He's going down!"
"Face it, boys! I can fly circles around you, so give up already!" Charlie called over his shoulder, and the twins' eyes suddenly widened. "What?"
"Charlie, look out!" Percy screamed, raising his hands to his face, not wanting to look at Charlie's imminent collision.
Charlie twisted his head and screamed when he saw the tree a few inches away from the hilt of his broom. Making a split decision, he swung the broom to the right and barely managed to avoid a head-on collision with the tree.
Fred and George immediately flew back to the ground, obviously shaken up by the incident. Charlie flew down and grinned. "What's wrong, kiddos? Too scared of chasing me?"
Bill smacked Charlie's head and snapped, "You could have snapped your neck if you'd been a second late."
"But I didn't," Charlie pointed out, and Percy grimaced at his carefree attitude, his heart still pounding.
Suddenly, Fred and George lunged at Charlie and knocked him over onto the grass, their arms wrapped around his body, almost constricting his breath. "Don't do that again!" they wailed, tears forming in their eyes.
Charlie grinned at their uncharacteristic behaviour and ruffled their hair. "I'm fine, guys! You're acting like I died or something."
"You could have." Percy shivered as he thought of how close Charlie had been to the tree's trunk.
"But I didn't." Rolling his eyes, he pushed the twins off of him and said, "Let's just… not tell Mum anything."
"That's for the best," Bill said, and they all agreed to never speak of the incident ever again.
