Chapter 14 (Timeline 2): Tom
"What were you doing with Linus?" the grey haired man demanded.
"You mean Henry?"
The man looked at Henry. He shrugged.
"What were you doing with him?" He pointed at Henry.
Dawn drew herself as upright on the chair as the restraints allowed.
"I was rescuing him from a psychopath but evidently that was a bad idea."
Henry suppressed a smile.
"It's true Tom. She set me free."
"And you brought her here?" the man called Tom hissed.
"Her people would have turned on her. Besides, she has the inside track. Maybe we can learn a thing or two."
Tom looked a little confused as he pulled Henry to one side.
"Where is she going to stay boss?" he whispered.
"She can stay with me and Alex."
Tom now appeared dumbfounded.
"But she's an outsider…"
"Tom," he said firmly. "I don't seem to recall seeing you bargaining for my life whilst I was locked down there. In fact, if it wasn't for Dawn, I would still be there, waiting for my captor to reappear. To torture me, night after night."
"Okay Ben," Tom yielded, holding his hands up. "She's all yours."
"Well, that's settled then. Now Tom, kindly release our guest and fetch her a cup of coffee. It's been a rough day."
